Back glass cracked by its self

Hi guys, got my Z2 on launch fay from vodafone, prior to that i have that i had the Z. Love the phones, however today after taking it out my pocket i notice a perfect cylindrical crack on the back. Now i havent dropped the phone, sure there is a few scratches on the back nothing major, i dont use screen protectors and i take very good care of my stuff. Im very annoyed that this crack has occurred and im hoping that this is covered under warranty. Its certaintly not user damaged. The crack is a perfect semi circle, see attached picture. cracked back. I thought i would check here with sony before going to vodafone.

  • Back glass cracked, 4 days old, not dropped.

Hey Guys, I just recieved my Z3 from TMO (T-mobile) on 24/2/2015. On the night of 27/2 while puttin the phone in my jacket pocket, I felt a crack on the back glass pannel.  The phone has not been dropped, and has only been on a table once, and in my pants pocket once. While carrying the device, it has sat in the inside chest pocket of my jacket with nothing else in the pocket.
I paid for the device in full from TMO, and do not curretly have insurance on it, since it it less than 14 days ago I may still get insurance for the device.  Given this information, I am wondering if I should:
Get the device Insured through TMO and exchange the device (TMO does make you pay a deductable).
    Seek warranty support thought Sony.
Bring it to the TMO store and check if they will simply replace it.
I noticed that the crack is verry similar to the one from this thread: here
I have some pictures for you guys as well.
    Against a piece of paper.
    Against a black cloth.

Sadly Trued_2 it wont be covered by warranty :/ my phone had it's back glass cracked on it's own to and yet sony said it isnt covered under warranty since it is visible as physicial damage so this repair will cost you i'm afraid :/ but i only had to pay £72 for mine and even got 2 piece of thempered glass protector as gift from sony due to what occured with my phone so phone came back as new again and glass protector is awesome so i'm quite thank ful to sony for giving me this as return for free here in sweden.

  • Back Glass Cracked Internally On Its Own

Hi all, I have an iPhone 4s for 3months and as I worked at my desk yesterday my iPhone cracked on its own. Has this happend to anyone else??? I took it to Vodacom (my service provider) and they all agreed that it was not due to a fall and I was not negligent. But the technicians say that Apple will reject what happend and assume that I indeed did drop it.  Why must I foot the bill if its probably a factory fault??? Please tell me im not alone on this.

You'll have a difficult time convincing Apple that it just cracked on it's own, but you can take the iPhone to an Apple Store, explain the situation, and see what they say (you'll have more luck, most likely, at an Apple Store then with Apple's mail-in support). If you had the iPhone in your pocket, then as Rudegar suggested, most likely pressure on the screen or flexion of the phone causes the crack in which case it will not be covered under warranty. But contact Apple and see what they say.
    Regards.

  • Self-cracking back glass

So, another self-cracked back glass on a Z2!
Phone is brand new. Used it for some browsing, put it in my pocket, took it out shortly after again and the back glass was completely shattered. I took the phone to a repair shop (not Sony) and the technician agreed that since there was no breaking point or other indicators that the phone had been dropped, it must be an "internal thing."
    But surprise! Sony disagrees.
Basically I got told by customer support that a shattered glass will be considered a user fault no matter what.
Think about that for a second: Sony sells me a faulty product. It then breaks due to poor build quality and it is my fault regardless of what documentation and examination of the unit is provided (together with all the evidence from other users experiencing the same).
I am going to contact the equivalent to the "Watchdog" show on BBC here in Denmark to hopefully have them investigating this. This is NOT how you take care of your customers.

You need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • My iPad recently flew off my SUV (embarrassing!) while driving, which mangled the back initially.  But a little while later, the glass cracked as well.  Without buying a new iPad (tight budget), what can be done to get it repaired?  Thanks!

Looking for some help.  I'm on a tight budget and had an embarrassing mishap in which my iPad (1st Gen) flew off my SUV while driving!    I felt fortunate at first, because the iPad still works, but then the glass cracked a little while later.  Mega-bummer as I used my iPad a lot - great product that I used on the road and in my recliner at home!    The following are some pictures before the glass cracked.  I would really value any assistance that can be provided as I look into getting the iPad repaired vs. replaced.  Many thanks!
One of my many questions is, would it be possible to get the glass replaced and just have the back bent back into place?
Power Button, Volume Control and Rotation Lock (or Mute/Unmute) - none of these work at present.  I presume that the aluminum is crimped down on the buttons.
Side profile - has a curve in it... similar photo to follow.
... and a shot of the back.
I must say, the iPad in its case was pretty durable considering that it flew off my SUV while picking up speed in upwards of 50 mph!  Hats off to Apple for a good product!    Thanks!

Apple does not repair,  they replace.
I do not think they will touch your ipad since it was obviously abused and is not covered by warranty.

  • Z3 spontaneous crack back glass

I have been very lucky with my previous Xperia Z and never had any of the famous problems.
Now though my new Z3 had a spontaneous crack in the rear glass. It didn't drop and is just went crack. I know sony did replace Z screens and backs in warranty.
Is this a problem on the Z3 too? Who do i contact?

    Sketcher81 wrote:
    Thanks Thommo,
I will contact sony care. But what i wanted to find out here is if this spontaneous cracking is a common problem with the Z3 too.
And then especially the back glass, not the front.@Sketcher I don't know about spontaneous cracking, but yes cracking of touch screen and back panel glass seems to be common problem, search net and you can find 100s of people complaining about the same.. What I can say is glass are not durable enough to take any impact or pressure, even temprature change can affect its resistance towards any impact. So rule number one use back cover and hide the beautiful surfaces (which was one of reasons I bought this phone)But still I think glasses are sub-standard material, so can't gurantee anything. Do share your experiences in dealing with service center, and how much time/money/efforts you invested to get it repaired. Cheers!!

  • My front screen of my iphone 4 is cracked and if I bring it in to be fixed can I replace the front and back glass with a different color?

I recently dropped my iphone 4 and cracked the front screen if I brought it in to be fixed can I get both the front and back glass replaced with a different color?

No. They will not. The replacement will be identical to the old one. You always have the option of buying a brand new phone for the full retail price.

  • My phone turned its self off for about 10 minutes, when it came back on it went from 84% to 18%. When I put in on the charger it shows the plug symbol as if its fully charged but the phone stays at 18%, and now it won't turn on.

My phone turned its self off for about 10 minutes, when it came back on it went from 84% to 18%. When I put in on the charger it shows the plug symbol as if its fully charged but the phone stays at 18%. Over time the battery dropped, but it went from 18, to 9, 3, then 1, and every time I put it on the charger it doesn't actually charge. Now my phone is off and it will not turn on.

I'd suggest taking it to apple. Warranty or no warranty.

  • TS3694 my iphone keeps turning its self of and wont come back on

Plug it into a wall outlet, let it charge for half an hour and then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.

  • My iPod is only showing the apple screen when reset it turns its self back on any ideas how to fix it?

My iPod wont switch on its only showing the apple sign I have tried resetting it multiple times but it only switches its self back on again it's not showing up when plugged into the computer either can anybody give me advice on it? ( it's over a year old so not under guarantee anymore either)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I have a life proof case my phone was in a hot tub for 30 sec and it turned its self off and wont turn back on what do i do ??

i have a life proof case my phone was in a hot tub for 30 sec and it turned its self off and wont turn back on what do i do ??

You can try putting it in bag with rice for about 4 or 5 days and the try to turn it on.  The rice will help the drying of the iPhone.  Do not attempt to turn it until you take it out of the rice.
If it does not work after the rice, then you know you have to replace the iPhone.  This is very likely so after 30 seconds in a hot tub, but do give the rice a try.  If you can get a hold of some silica crystals, a better drying agent than rice, that would be good too.

Does anyone know why its doing this? Or a way i can fix it? I've cheaked for updates and there is none!
    Thankyouuu
it looks like that when it is locked and when its unlocked it looks like this

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck
