How to set up 2 time capsules to back up one computer?

what can i say, i run a music studio, dj off of mp3's as well, and edit video in my spare time
so, i've got terrabytes of data, on multiple external and internal hard drives, and have therefore invested in 2 (two) 1tb time capsules. however, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to set them up to both backup my different and various hard drives on one computer! at the moment, i can get both visible on one network, but only one TC at a time will backup, the other just sits there gathering dust as far as i can tell.
i'm running a mac pro, os 10.5.8, with an 4 disc external drive - 3 disks with various data (one contains video data, one mp3s, and one protools recording data) and one running super duper to make weekly clones of my main hard drive. i'd like to configure one time capsule to backup, say, my hard drive and protools disks, and one time capsule to backup the video and mp3 drives.
i've searched quite bit on google and here for a solution, but there's a dearth of information on this subject! hasn't anyone else out there done this? surely i'm not the only person out here with loads and loads of critical data in his home needing more than one tb of backup...

That is correct. For backups, the Time Capsule is basically just a dumb HD; the Time Machine software on your Mac is what controls things, and it can only have one destination at a time, whether it's backing-up one or multiple HDs.

Again, TM won't do that. Only one "instance" of TM will run at a time, and you can only have one set of exclusions (to limit what it backs up) at a time.

No, but it's fairly rare, and few want to do this wirelessly. And note that Time Machine was not designed for such situations, but as a very simple, "set it and forget it" backup tool for the novice to intermediate user, who's likely never used any backup app at all.
For a Time Capsule to back up everything (except the clone), about your only option is to forget the TC's internal HD. Instead, get either a single external HD that's 2 or 3 times the space of what you want backed-up, or enough smaller ones that you can make a +Concatenated RAID set+ large enough. Attach this to the TC and back-up to it.
But for that much data, this is a very slow and cumbersome solution.
You probably need a mixed solution of some sort; using Time Machine to the Time Capsule for your boot drive and as much of the more volatile data on the other drive(s) as is reasonable; then SuperDuper or another app to back up the other data to an external HD.

IPhone Calendar List View Extends Back Only One Year

My iPhone calendar List view extends back approximately one year despite the fact that I have calendar entries extending back to 1999 and that older data is visible under the Day and Month views. This is a problem because the only search mechanism in iPhone calendar is through the List view. Therefore, any search I conduct extends back only to the data in the List view ... which means back only one year.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how I could change this such that the List view extends to include ALL of my calendar entries and is in conformity with the Day and Month views? (I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to "correct" this, but perhaps Apple has designed it this way to speed-up the searching in List view ... I'm not certain.)
I am currently running the most recent iOS update, am syncing my iPhone calendar via MobileMe, have upgraded to the new version of the MobileMe calendar, and have ALREADY reset my sync. history, deleted my iPhone calendar and re-synced it, etc. These don't resolve the problem.

I've noticed that the date to which the List View will "look back" will change depending on software updates or syncs.
For instance, a few weeks ago my List View went back to December 2009 ... now it goes back to Jan. 2010 (i.e. I lost a month of "look back"). I do not specifically recall what triggered this change, but I reset my sync. log during this period.
If you make no changes to the sync. log or update the software, the List View start date will stay constant I believe. For instance, if the List View goes back to Jan. 1, 2010 right now it should stay that way until you reset the sync. log or update the iPhone software. Theoretically then the List View can "look back" much longer than 12 months assuming you make no changes to the sync. log or update the software. Of course, this doesn't address our issue here, but I thought I would point out that there seems to be a consistent pattern here and not some random bug screwing things up.
I'm still thinking that this is the way Apple intended it to work. In other words, that Apple felt it necessary to limit the calendar search feature to approximately 12 months worth of calendars. I hope I'm wrong.

How do I get my HD back to one partition?

I'm done using Windows and Linux, I don't need them for work anymore and I want to erase both and merge the partitions back into Macintosh HD. I was able to remove a few of the Linux partitions, but neither Bootcamp setup or Disk Utility are letting me remove BOOTCAMP, swap1, or swap2. How do I get them to merge back into one, without reinstalling OSX?

Boot Camp Assistant does not support more than GPT, HFS+, EFI, and Windows partition. When you muck around with adding partitions, strange things do happen.
Two things:
Clone your HFS+ partition with Disk Utility Restore or any clone program.
Boot from another hard drive or media and delete the partitions.
You don't erase partitions, you delete or "-" and use Disk Utility to resize and repair the drive.
The easy way is to use SuperDuper, then erase and restore.
No reinstall.

ATTRIBUTE7 will have two values
1. Capex

if user selects Capex.. then ATTRIBUTE8 and ATTRIBUTE9 are manadatory
otherwise optional
i did personalization
In Condition Tab:-
I took Trigger Event as When-Validate-Record
Trigger Object as PO_REQ_HDR
Condition :PO_REQ_HDR.ATTRIBUTE7='Capex'
When i validate it gives The Condition evaluates to false
In Action Tab:-

FRM-41014: Cannot set attribute of null canvas item CTL_GLOBALS_USERAREA

Hello experts
Has any one encountered the "FRM-41014: Cannot set attribute of null canvas item CTL_GLOBALS_USERAREA" error at any time? What was the fix? I thought setting the environment variable HRUSERAREA="OFF" in the env file would resolve this. But unfortunately, in one of our instances this is set and yet the same error shows up again.
We are upgrading from 10.7 to R12. Linus is the OS. Any inputs? What else do we have to check between the instances where it works and the one that produces the error?

Thanks for your response. The last post in that link seems to suggest that "the error will be shown only by clients, which used [en-gb] scheme in Internet Explorer." But in this case, the library HR_GEN.pll has the SET_ITEM_PROPERTY call which attempts to set the null canvas item's property. The function that helps in making the decision whether or not to make this item property call is done by a function called USERAREAENABLED within the library. This function calls a user exit to determine the value of the env variable $HRUSERAREA. Somehow this returns "ON" inspite of "OFF" value with which this variable is defined in the env file. Could something else be overriding this env file setting?

can any one suggest me how to slove this.

The first question is do you know what the error message means?
It seems to be saying that you have a mirrored item, ie a field that it set to mirror the value of another. The error seems to indicate that it is not happy for this mirror item to have the required property set.
If you know this already, then sorry for the explanation, but you did not make it clear in the post.
I suggest to search for mirror items and see what properties they have, also see if you have a set_item property on said item that makes it required. I'm not sure from your description whether this happens at startup or after some event in the form.

Backing up one external drive to another

I'd like to use Time Machine to periodically back one drive up to another one, but I don't think its set up to do that. Can anyone recommend a good way to keep two external drives (or portions of them) synced with each other? Thanks!

Ah, but it is. TM will back-up your internal HD plus one or more externals, to another external. In fact, it will do that unless you specifically tell it not to. (It would back both up to a separate partition on the external, but that's obviously not the best idea.)
You have several good options:
First, simply get a bigger (or second) internal HD, and an external big enough to back up everything with TM.
Second, get the bigger or second internal HD, and a Time Capsule big enough to back up everything with TM. TC's aren't cheap, and the initial backup will take forever (although there are ways to speed it up), but as long as you're in range, TM can do it's hourly incrementals wirelessly.
Third, perhaps better than #2, get the bigger or second internal HD, and an Airport Extreme, and connect a USB drive to it for TM. That's still fairly slow, but has some advantages over a TC.
Fourth, get another external big enough to back-up both your internal HD and your current external (and delete the TM partition on it).
That leaves the off-site problem. As much data as you're talking about, transmitting it all will take a very, very long time, even with a fast cable modem. Recovering it would be faster, usually, but still quite long. And renting that much storage will cost some money.
One alternative would be a Blu-Ray disc burner. I believe you can put about 50 gb on a disc, so doing that periodically and taking them off-site might be practical.
Or a portable external drive. If you use the first option above, just get a pair of portables. Use one for a week or so, then take it to your safe deposit box, relative's house, workplace, etc., and swap it with the other one. All you have to do is tell TM when you change drives, via TM Preferences > +Change Disk,+ and don't go more than about 10 days between swaps (so TM won't decide to do a full backup).
If you do the Time Capsule or Airport thing, then get one portable, bring it to the MacBook (or vice-versa) periodically and do a backup to it.

I sent iTunes to trash. I was able to recover the program but have to "put back" songs one at a time. Is there any way to put back from trash using the "select all" command?

The prgram is in one location and the library (media + library files) are in another. Sending it all to the trash would take some pretty delibrate multiple actions and digging through multiple folders, so I don't know how this was managed unless there's something in Snow Leopard that's new. Occasionally I have moved a file to the trash in Finder that I didn't want to and I can use Finder's "undo" to undo the last move. With many files...?

Downloading from itunes store, one at a time rather than in bulk

Ok, I was wondering if it was possible to change the amount of downloads that happen at one time. I am on a satellite dish and it works better if I download one at a time rather than in a bunch. Does anyone know if its possible to change that setting? I have looked everywhere and can't find anything.

Ok, I figured out how to get this to work. If you pause all of them then just restart one it does it.

The cyan portion of the printhead may be clogged. I would suggest running the diagnostics shown here. If three levels of cleaning of the printheads does not resolve the issue you may need a new printhead.

Using Time Machine to back up one Airdisk to another Airdisk

I've got a hard drive (I'll call it HD1) attached by my AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n). I've been using Time Machine to back up my MacBook's internal hard drive to that drive for several months now, with no problems. I just bought an additional external hard drive (HD2) and attached it to my AEBS, along with HD1, using a USB hub. Both drives are working fine.
However, I have been unable to get Time Machine to back up HD2 to HD1. Even when HD2 is mounted on my desktop, Time Machine will not back it up - it backs up only my internal hard drive. When I connected HD2 directly to my computer by a USB cable, Time Machine will back it up to HD1. It's only when it's connected to the AEBS that Time Machine ignores it.
I would very much like to have both hard drives connected to the AEBS all the time, but I need to have my data on HD2 backed up. Has anyone been able to back up one airdisk to another using Time Machine?
Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Even if that worked, that would be horribly inefficient. The data from HD2 would be copied from the drive through the AEBS to your MacBook then back to the AEBS and to HD1.

How to back up one mac to an external using another mac

I want to back up my old MacBook Pro onto an external hard drive. The old MacBook Pro is bad shape, hard to use in normal mode. The apple store genius told me I could use my new MacBook Air as a conduit for this back up. I purchased a FireWire cable with a Thunderbolt adapter for this purpose. I was attempting to use Migration Assistant to accomplish this back up, putting the old MacBook Pro in Target Disk mode, but from what I've read on these forums, mainly this article: Mac OS X v10.6: How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac, it doesn't seem possible to back up onto an external given the options I am given in the process. So my question is (A) how do I back up one macbook in target disk mode onto an external using a second macbook as a conduit, and (B) is it possible to simply back up the old MacBook Pro while in Target Disk or Safe modes? Thanks so much for any help.

I've not tried using Migration Assistant before so i'm not sure on that. But if you put the old Mac in Target Disk mode and connect the working Mac to that it should show as an external drive, then connect your external HDD to the working Mac, open both drives and simply copy the data over or use your favourite backup software to do it.
