  • Compiz keyboard shortcuts not working with Mate 1.6

I've managed to get compiz working with Mate 1.6. Running compiz replace changes the window manager. However, none of the keyboard shortcuts are working. Here's a list of all the things I have enabled in CCSM:
    Composite
    Gnome Compatibility
    OpenGL
    Viewport Switcher
    Window Decoration
    JPEG
    PNG
    SVG
    Text
    Compiz Library Toolbox
    Dbus
    Notification
    Regex Matching
    Workarounds
    Move Window
    Place Windows
    Resize Window
I first noticed that the keyboard shortcuts for switching workspaces weren't working (but I had moved a terminal to another workspace, and I saw it in the workspace switcher on my panel, so I know it exists). I tried enabling Expo, but whenever I would press the keyboard shortcut (Super+e) nothing would happen, except it would type 'e' in the CCSM search box. Then I tried to run a command using Alt+F2, which is enabled, but the run command dialog box wouldn't show up, which leads me to believe that somehow Compiz isn't picking up the keyboard shortcuts.

hanny wrote:I'm running into similar issues with Xfce 4.10. ALT+F2 is working for me, but no ALT+TAB, Super+e etc...Im using compiz-bzr from AUR.
I recently started using Cinnamon since they moved completely off of Gnome 3. It works beautifully. You should check it out. Best Desktop Environment right now imho.

  • "Back" keyboard shortcut not working

    Hey Folks,
I changed my keyboard shortcut in Sys Prefs>Keyboard>Shortcuts>App Support>Safari to cmd+left arrow and it has been working just fine until 2 days ago.
I have tried deleting it and adding it back in, but still no joy.
    Does anyone have suggestions?
    Thanks. Adam

  • New Apple keyboard shortcuts not working with Mavericks

Had to buy a new keyboard for my 2010 iMac, which is running Mavericks. However, the F keys on the new keyboard have a slightly different layout than my original. Most notably, the F4 key now opens up Launchpad, whereas it used to show the Dashboard.
The keyboard settings in Preferences is useless because it doesn't match up to the key layout on either keyboard (never has), and re-assigning keys doesn't work. For example, in Preferences, it has brightness controls as F11 and 12, but they've been F1 and F2 on every iMac keyboard I've ever had.  (F10-12 is volume control.) Even if I try to re-assign these keys, pressing the key I want does not change the highlighted setting.
So... how do I re-assign F4 to show the Dashboard (which is useful for my many widgets) as opposed to Launchpad (which I never use)?
    Thanks!

Just make F5 as your Dashboard...
System Preferences---> Keyboard---> Shortcuts---> Mission Control---> (check mark Show Dashboard)---> Double click the current state (could be F12). When highlighted, hit the actual key "F5".
From then on, you should be able to hit "F5" and it'll show the Dashboard for you.
I believe there are at least two Apple Wireless keyboard out there. The one that I am on right now shows 6 squares on the F4 key. The other has the dial face on the F4 key. This one also has brightness control for the backlighting on the keyboard, or rather the built-in keyboard of a Mac Book (Air and Pro). Which are on the F5 and F6 keys. Why Apple did that, I have no idea.
You could also use a Hot Corner to open the Dashboard. For instance use the upper left for it.
System Preferences---> Mission Control---> Hot Corners (lower left of the window)---> Select the upper left and scroll to Dashboard.
I personally like to have the Dashboard "fly" over my current screen/desktop. So I unchecked "Show Dashboard a Space."

  • Default Mail app not working with yahoo mail. Won't update.

Default Maill app not working with Yahoo Mail.
It stopped working the other day. I tried everything but it wouldn't update new mail. The yahoo account itself is fine because I can see new mail on Yahoo or a yahoo app.
I tried deleting the account and putting it back on, but now it has 0 mail in any part of it. Nothing has synced.
    What do I do?
    iPad 2 latest OS.

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

  • PS5 Action Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working

PS5 Action Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working -- Running 10.6.7 on a Mac Pro. Any suggestions?
I've tried restarting, changing key combinations, etc. Nothing works and I'm wasting time using my mouse...
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had this problem too but using Windows 7. I tried resetting, renaming the shortcuts, swearing loudly, none of it worked. I found out it was a totally unrelated program, Xfinity Protection Suite, that was the culprit.  My virus protection program added it as an 'upgrade.'  AFter I uninstalled it everything was back to normal. Have you installed anything new onto your computer lately that could be interfering?

I've just updated safari on snow leopard and my customized keyboard shortcut: go to next/previous panel (ctrl -> and ctrl <-) don't work anymore even if i set them in my system preferences

I'm also experiencing issues with custom keyboard shortcuts not working after the update to Safari 5.1. I had no problems with the previous version of Safari.... I wish I had not updated.

my mac's keyboard is not working with my mac.the green light blinks and i cannot get onto my mac. everything on the support questions does not help because i cant go on the mac and i cant sign in

If you can't sign in, then you can't troubleshoot and/or pair the keyboard until after that........ so, for that, you will need to borrow someone's USB wired keyboard in order to get signed in and to the Keyboard Bluetooth Preferences.

  • The volume keys on my Logitech K760 wireless keyboard do not work with my 2.3 GHz, Intel Core i5 Mac mini which runs Mac OS X 10.7.4. Anyone know how to correct this without having to re-code firmware?

My first post to the Apple Support Community so it looks like all I wanted to know is covered in the title. The research I have done led me to solutions that I am not comfortable trying for fear of irreparably damaging my keyboard and/or Mac mini. Does anyone have a simpler solution? Please? Hellooooo?
Just in case the title is too long to show, I have re-pasted here:

  • The wireless keyboard is not working with my iPad2. I turned on Bluetooth and paired it.  What else is there to do?

The wireless keyboard is not working with my iPad2.  I turned on bluetooth and paired the device.  What other hidden step is there to do?

Well, the tiny green light comes on and blinks. . . After a frustrating time, I turned everything off.  Later, when I tried the keyboard again, it worked.  I guess the bluetooth process takes longer than expected.  So thank you for taking the time to help a technically impaired person!!

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • "Redo" keyboard shortcut not working?

Since the most recent update in Premiere Pro CC my "Redo" keyboard shortcut (ctrl-shift-Z on PC) no longer works.
I've check the keyboard shortcuts and it's still mapped there correctly, it simply doesn't work, and this is massively slowing down my workflow as I toggle 'Undo' - 'Redo' frequently when color grading.
Can anyone recommend a way to fix this? Is there some cache I need to clean or settings I need to change?

    Hi Tom
    FYC:
This seems to be a Leopard problem with foreign (not US English) languages and keykoards.
Accidentially I found a workaround, consider the Mac to be rebooted:
    - Open International.
    - Drag English to be first language.
    - Drag <your language> back to first position.
    - Close International.
    - Open FCE 3.5 or FCE 4 and all keyboard shortcuts will work fine.
    - This will be permanent until next reboot.
    No such problems under Tiger!
I already addressed this 100x to Apple Feedback since I installed Leopard in Nov 2007. But unfortunately they do not hear me.

  • Indent code keyboard shortcut not working?

Working on a new website, I started working on my old laptop (white macbook) with Dreamweaver 5.0 installed. When it got too complex for the small screen I took the project to my work computer (Mac Pro) and continued working in Dreamweaver CC. On both computers the shortcut for 'indent code' work as advertised in the help files.
Tonight I took the project back home and continued working on my newer laptop (MacBookPro 17"). On this laptop I still had CS6 installed so I continued working in CS6. But for some reason the keyboard shortcuts for 'indent code' did not work. In the edit-menu there is no shortcut behind these commands. I found this very annoying, so I installed CC on this laptop too. After installing I took the prefs from the cloud and expected the keyboard shortcuts to work, but bo such luck...
I then quit Dreamweaver, replaced the Keyboard Shortcut.js file with the one from my Mac Pro. Still no go.
My work computer is running OSX 10.8, both my laptops are running OSX 10.9. So if the shortcuts a are somehow reseved by the system I guess they should not work on my old laptop either.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    A

Tried that, there are no shortcuts associated with these commands. I tried adding the shortcuts but that did not work either. I select the command, click the + sign and press the desired key combination (Shift+Command+>). The window disappears. Most likely because the ">" is also the "." and "command-." is the shortcut for "cancel"...
I did some further digging and found the shortcuts are stored in the Menus.xml file, burried deep in the Application Support/Abobe etc. folder. But this file is only there after you make a duplicate of the original keyboard settings. I opened this file (in Dreamwaver ) and found the shortcuts for indent/outdent code are there but for some reason it's ignored by Dreamweaver. I removed Dreamweaver from the computer and re-installed, no luck.
So I made a new set, opened the new xml file and first removed the shortcuts, saved the file, added the shortcuts and saved again. Now they work.
But I'd still like to know why it did not in the first place...

  • 'Undo' Keyboard Shortcut Not Working

My usual keyboard shortcut for Edit > Undo (command + shift + z) does not work anymore.
This happens across all applications, from Apple default apps to Adobe CC suite.
I can't even edit it through each applications preferences or via System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts
Has anybody else encounter this issue? I've no idea what's causing this.
    Thanks

  • Keyboard Buttons Not Working With Update

When I first installed iTunes, I noticed that the media shortcut keys on my Labtec Media Keyboard were not working. They worked perfectly fine for Windows Media, but my primary audio player is iTunes. Then when I installed the 7.1.1.5 update, I noticed that my keyboard buttons were working for the first time with iTunes. Now that I just updated to 7.2, I notice that the keyboard buttons do not work again.
    Any suggestions?

Maybe some of the following ideas will help those wanting to control iTunes in the background (I don't).
    1. If you are running iTunes on a Mac (MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, or iMac) running Windows (via Boot Camp) then you can use the Apple Remote with iTunes (Boot Camp 1.2 drivers added support for the Remote). Therefore with initially iTunes in the background you can press the menu button on the Apple Remote to bring it to the front, and use the remote to control iTunes as normal. Furthermore, if you also have the Microsoft Media Center remote, you can still use the Media Center button to bring Media Center back to the front (pushing iTunes back in to the background) and then control Media Center.
    2. The KeySpan Express Remote is a USB infra-red controller with both Mac and Windows software. I have not tried this on a PC but on the Mac, the software has a special iTunes mode to let you control iTunes in the background. Even if you don't use this special mode, it can still be configured have the equivalent of the Apple menu button to bring iTunes to the front and then let you control iTunes. See http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/urm17a/homepage.spml
Most of the time, I actually don't use iTunes to play music, but to merely act as a server. I use a Roku SoundBridge M2000 to play music (I have three of them around the house), and this can be used with a Mac or PC. There are also other similar devices available like the Sonos ZonePlayer or the SlimDevices SqueezeBox (or even possibly the Apple TV or XBox 360).
Note: If iTunes is already in the front then you can even use the Microsoft Media Center remote to control iTunes!!
