Back posting

Good Morning Every body
I have the issue regarding MMPI,When i tried to reverse posting periods using t.code MMPI,    I am getting the following error message
" Follow the instrucions in note 487381 before initialization"
I am not able to move further,,,,,Can u pls help me regarding this issue.
Thanks&Regards
Prasad.G.

For period closing with initialization, the system displays a message saying that period closing cannot be started. Before you start period closing with initialization, you must be aware of the consequences of period closing with initialization. This note describes the possible data inconsistencies that might occur if you carry out the initialization in a productive system. The resulting inconsistencies are not to be traced back to a system error but they are a result of the period closing program with initialization.
You need to follow the instructions in the OSS Note#487381.

  • Good issue to Production order - Allows it in back posting date

    Dear all,
Good issue to Production order ( 261 Movement ), allows us to post the component in back dated eventhough stock is not avaible on that date.
Example - Component stock on date 10.02.2010 = Zero , I made it Good receipt on date 18.02.2010 and now stock is available on date 18.02.2010.
Now GI to Production it allows the qty on current and back Posting date also , I want control on date with error message. It should not allowed the GI for back date from 18.02.2010.
Because of this our MB5B report shows the negetive issue qty if i post in back date.
    Waiting for reply
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi SAurabh,
PLease check whether Negative Stock is allowed for the valuation Area (plant).
GOTO >> SPRO >> MM>> Invetnroy management and physical inventory >> Goods issue/ Transfer Posting >> Allow Negative stock.
Untick the Negative stock allowed for your valuation area (PLant)

  • Back posting only possible with same valuation class

Hii, I made changes in valuation class before that i closed all the open po and maintained stock zero using 201 mvt type on 31st March. Now the system is throwing error when Im doing the reversal using MB1A 202 mvt type like "Back posting only possible with same valuation class". But its taking if I take the Posting date to 1st April, and we want to post on the 31st MArch. Please provide the suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Manoj

    System is behaving correctly..
Suppose you have changed the valuation class from X to Y as on 31.03.2014.
So your valuation class was X as on 31.03.2014.
But now your valuation class is changed as Y. and system will always try to post the valuation class Y for material.
So when you are trying to reverse the entry on 31.03.2014, system shows the error..
In that case, you should change the valuation class as on 30.03.2014 and you should do 201 movement type as on 30.03.2014, and then as on 31.03.2014, you can reverse the entry..
Now you have to reverse the 201 movement type after date 31.03.2014.

  • Back posting with different price control

    Hi All-
One user is trying to do MIGO with posting date 31-Mar-2010 but the price control was changed to standard from moving average effective from today. So there is an error "Back posting allowed only with same price control"....cannot process further..
    how to solve this problem?

yes it is not a problem. It is standard SAP process. you need to do back posting with same price control

  • Unable to do Back posting

    hi.,
The ABp indicator in OMSY is flagged for Backposting.
But i am still unable to do backposting to previous month.
I get message - Period 0x/0007 is not open for posting.
The FI Yr, MM yr and Factory calendar are matching.
Can anyone update me as to where i am missing to review?
    Thanks and Much appreciated.

    hi Stephen.,
    Thanks for the feedback.
Company policy is not to open Back periods in FI so eventhough the ABp is flagged in MM, it does not serve the purpose.
Customer has got inventory documents which are relating to 2006 , 2005 and some for earlier periods which have the Indicator X and A.
    <u><b>Scenario :</b></u>
    1. PID Not counted
    2. PID Partially counted but not posted.
    3. All items in PID , Counted but not posted
Customer does not want to open the previous periods thru MMPI.
As fas as back posting, its enabled for MM but not in FI , which BTW is the company policy not to open previous periods, even for a month.
In the given scenario above ,how to bring the Inventory of previous stock into account?
    1. Can we delete the PID given the above scenarios?
    2. Can we do an Accounting adjustment , in which case how will the PI books adjust?
    3. Material consists of Serialized Material as well as Batch Managed Material?

  • Revert back posting periods in MMPV..

    Hi,
How can i change the existing entry in table MARV ...
Posting periods by mistake i was extened 3 month  ahead in MMPV trasaction ...now i want to revert back the entry.
this entry is in MARV table , how can i change the period in table MARV..
    Help me.....
    Regards,
    San Rao..

    Hi,
NOTE: Involve also FICO Consultant and collect all the documents before proceeding.
MMRV: to check which period is open & also set back posting allowed,
    MMPV: to open the period.
It is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period. If there has already been a posting after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
    Steps are as below;
    Go to Transaction Code SE38
    Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/02/2008 for Feb. 2008 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of Jan 2008 as well as Feb. 2008
Refer SAP Note No. 487381 for more details.
As per SAP Notes 487381 ( If the periods are opened in advance in mmpv to again change it to current period the following process should be follow ), Go to Tcode MMPI, then go to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that screen , under the parameters tab enter MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and enter, then under short description you will get Initialise period. Next Save.
Again go to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute.
    OR
NOT ADVICEABLE THIS METHOD, ONLY TRY IN SANDBOX NOT IN RUNNING SYSTEM
    1. Use t.code:OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
    2. Use t.code: OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
    3. Use t.code:OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

  • Intallation is being rolled back post deploying the SP1

Trying to deploy SP1 across all win 7 systems. It's being successfully installed when PCs are not in domain but for Domain joined system it's being rolled back post initial installation and reboot. Please help me do get rid of this issue.

    Hello Tech Olive,
What do you mean of the sentence ‘for Domain joined system it's being rolled back post initial installation and reboot’? the domain-joined systems keep roll back to install the Windows 7 service package 1?
How do you deploy the Windows 7 service package 1?
Do you receive any error messages in the domain-joined Windows 7?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Check if we can install the Service Package manually.
    2. As you mentioned that only domain-joined computer can't normally install the Windows 7 service package 1. I think it is related to domain setting. Please confirm with the domain administrator to check if there are group policy or setting to block the
    installation

  • Opening of back posting period

    Hi,
I want to know can we open the back posting period  what problem we can face if we do this  like  now it is  Jan 2010  so posting is allowed in Dec. 2009   but if we want to pen  Feb 2009 fiscal year 2008  what can be the problem.
    regards,
       zafar

    Hi
Basically it is possible to reopen a previously closed period. However,
it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous
period could get affected. So first you need to pay more attention is
that not to repeat such error operation in your system especially in PRD system.
    Please refer to note:
    545952 FAQ: Period closing program
To find out what you should do when you meet this problem.
If you decide to proceed with this process, please review the
documentation of program RMMMINIT (to see this documentation, please
do the following: run transaction SE38, enter program RMMMINIT, select
the 'documentation' radio button and click 'display').
487381 - RMMMINIT: Protection against unintentionial execution
Here with the report you may find any data may get inconsistency goods
movement after you reopen the period and you need to clear them.
    You can follow the notes:
193554 Stock/valuation data of previous periods

  • Another one step forward, one step back post

Just noticed this on CS6 (Mac):
After I work on a project, I use ChronoSync to backup my project folder (which contains all my media and other assets besides caches) to another drive, which is an interim backup until LTO.
Now, ChronoSync is re-writing ALL my media to the back up disk.  This is a big deal when I have 120GB of media in a project, which isn't unusual.
What was taking a few seconds or minutes is now taking hours.
I can see that Pr is changing the modification date on my media when I open (or maybe save) a project.  This is what ChronoSync is looking at to determine whether to backup that file or not.
I'm not changing the media (not intentionally anyway).  Why the change in the way Pr works?  I don't see an advantage.  Can anybody (especially from Adobe) provide some insight?
I'm guessing that Pr is adding some metadata to my source files, yes?  Is this necessary?  Can I turn it off?
If Pr is modifying my sources, doesn't this risk corrupting my media files?

Thanks for the longer description of your workflow.
    A couple of notes:
As far as the ingesting of footage coming off of cards or HDs from the shoot, I use an app designed especially for this called Shotput Pro.  It is designed to ingest footage, append filenames, copy to multiple locations and verify the data.  If you haven't already, check it out - works great on location for a smooth data process.
Time Machine will work in the same way of only doing incremental backups of what has changed since the last scan.  I guess in this way, you would come up against the same issue of the changed modification dates causing havoc.
I use Time Machine to back up everything except for the shoot reels, which would quickly fill my TM drive.  After ingesting all of the footage into my file structure, I will copy the Shoot Reels to a Drobo drive where it will be protected as a backup outside of Time Machine.  Since the original media isn't being modified over the course of an edit, I can always retrieve it and relink the files if my HD that I edit from blows up.  (Not to delve too deep into a backup discussion, but if it is really sensitive footage, i will make another copy and store it in my safe deposit box at the bank)  So, that leaves all of the other files that do get backed up to TM hourly, which are generally much much smaller.
I also like to leave everything related to one project in 1 folder.  Your note about not wanting to have to think about exluding folders from backup is something I share - however, I do have to manually tell TM not to backup the shoot reel folder for each project I create.  I haven't found an automated way of doing this yet.
I can be more specific about how I organize my project folders and how it fits into a backup workflow, but I don't think that is what you are looking for since you already have your workflow down (with the exception of this wrench Adobe threw into the works...) Only if you are interested i will share my system.
To your original question - I agree that the way CS6 modifies all of your footage mod dates is annoying and I wish i had an answer for you.

  • Replacing sky... I did search back posts...

First off I'm clearly a beginner with this software.  This shouldn't be so hard because I've done it once before but sadly I didn't save the directions I found online.  Today I've tried a bazillion directions including this forum and I'm clearly doing something wrong.
I have a pix of a house and a pix of a beautiful sunset and I want to replace the dull sky on the house pix with the sky from the sunset pix.  First I tried this method:
    http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-replace-a-sky-in-photoshop
but when I take the eraser and erase the parts of the sky that overlap the house if I go above the roof line of the house it erases the sky too.  Hey as a kid I was never good about coloring in the lines so this method just isn't working.
So I thought this method where you select the sky with the magic wand and delete it would be far easier:
    http://photographyofgrace.com/Filehost/Downloads/ReplacingASkywithPSE7.pdf
However..... If you go to page 3 of this tutorial you will see that one of the layers had the magic wand used, they selected the sky, deleted it and now its transparent, i.e. has the checkerboard pattern where the sky use to be.  The checkerboard pattern is both in the big pix and the little one to the right in the layers area.  Well here is my problem, when I do it I can see the checkerboard pattern in the small pix on the right in the layers area but when I click on that layer in the big picture there is no checkerboard pattern.  Doesn't matter what order the 2 layers are in (i have the original layer which is locked and the background copy which has the checkerboard pattern on it and its unlocked)  When I click on the copy which on the right is checkerboarded (transparent) its NOT transparent in the big picture.
So when I take my pretty sunset picture and try and drop it in to the house with the checkerboard sky it just covers the whole thing, its not filling in just the transparency its just covering the entire house.
I'm almost in tears, I've read everything I can, followed the directions on about 10 tutorials on this and not once can I make this magic wand method work.  I'm in tears and have been trying to make this work since 11 am.  Again the eraser method is too hard with the lines of the house and trees and I keep erasing the darn sky.
Can someone please help me do this.
    Thanks for ANY help.
    Susan

Your first tutorial link is not doable in Elements as it uses a couple of methods that are not available in Elements...in particular blending via the layer's style panel to bring back in the underlying image using the brightness stops to define what comes through.
If you have a blown out (white) sky you can use that to your advantage. I used Photoshop so my screen grabs will look different than an Elements user interface but I only used methods that are possible using Elements.
    1. Open your image and open an image with the sky you want to add.
I'll use a couple of my photos for the example.
    Start photo....dreary winter sky.
Here is the shot with the sky that I want to use.
    2. (A.)You want the start photo active for this first part so make sure it is the document that you are currently working on.
(B.)Go to the menu bar and choose Select<All. This will select the entire image.
(C.)Go to the menu bar and choose Edit<Copy. This will copy the entire image into your clipboard.
    3. (A.) Create a solid color fill adjustment layer over your start photo. (Don't worry about color. It's not going to matter.)
(B.)Alt click on the solid color adjustment layer's mask. This will make your document go white as the focus will be on the adjustment layer's mask. (If          you are on a Mac, you will Opt click instead of alt click.)
(C.)Go to the menu bar and choose Edit<Paste. This will paste your image into the mask.
    *Shortcuts:
Ctrl + A on PC; Cmd + A on Mac = Select All.
    Ctrl + C on PC; Cmd + C on Mac = Copy.
    Ctrl + V on PC; Cmd + V on Mac = Paste.
Note: You will see a grayscale version of your image. (Masks only "see" grayscale" so the colors are converted to their brightness values.) Above is my start image pasted directly into a mask.
    4. With the mask still the focus, call up the levels command. You can call it up from the menu or use the shortcut. Ctrl + L on PC; Cmd + L on Mac. The goal is to push the image using the levels command to pure black and white.
Here I have pushed the image as solid black and white as I dare without losing detail,
Note: I am using a red color fill adjustment layer so it's visual obvious that I am looking in the mask. (Using a black or white solid color adjustment layer can lead to confusion because if you click away from the mask for any reason the focus moves back to the image.)
    5. Now, you will need to paint out any items you did not get using the levels command. You can lasso and fill, use a paint brush with black, or use the gradient tool as I used to eliminate the snow covered ground where I do not want my new sky to appear. (Note: If you haven't guessed white paint can be used to include more items to be included. Gray areas will be semi-transparent. Think feather and transition.
Above I used a black foreground to transparent gradient to the mask to include the ground.
    6. Switch to your sky photo then copy it into your clipboard.
    7. Paste your sky photo into the document you are working. It should be at the top of the layers stack. If it isn't at the top of the stack in the layer's palette, drag it to the top.
    8. Your sky layer should be directly over the solid color adjustment layer. You are going to create a clipping mask by clicking on the new sky layer and pressing ctrl + G. If on a Mac, you will press Cmd + J.
*Additional info on clipping masks a.ka. clipping groups.
    http://www.photokaboom.com/photography/learn/Photoshop_Elements/layers/layer_groups_clippi ng_masks/1_layer_groups_clipping_masks.htm
Here is the result with the sky clipped above.
    9. Optional: To give more umph to the image.
(A.) Create a composite of everything you have done so far. Create a blank layer at the top of your layers stack and press ctrl + shift + alt + E if on              Windows. If on Mac, the shortcut is cmd + shift + opt + E.
(B.) Change the composite layer's blend mode to either overlay or soft light and adjust the opacity to taste.
The above has the contrast and blending I wanted but seems a little dark for my taste. I'll use blend modes to take care of that.
Optional Step: Since it turned out a little darker than I wanted I made another composite of what I have thus far using Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E. That's Cmd + Shift + Opt + E if you are on a Mac. I put this composite into Screen blend mode and put it's opacity at 63%.
Note: If that would have been a body of water instead of a field with snow behind the trees, I would have added some sky reflections...

  • Allow MM to post many months back

I try MMRV, my current month is Oct, it only allow posting to sept. if I want to post to Aug, what should I do? thanks

    Hi,
As you are very aware of t.codes: MMPV, MMPI & MMRV and its vital functionality. But MMRV is little sensitive where you can go for to control back posting allowed for your company code or not. Unfortunately but I can say for better control in MM side you can post only current period and current minus one period.
In your case if you want post any transactions related to last few months, you can talk to FICO consultant & business owner the possibility & acceptance to post transactions related to last few months in FI side instead of MM side, which is required & very much possible.

  • Change posting date during UD Reversal

    Hi All
During working with a UD reversal program by using SAP note 175842 i came to know that the posting date only comes as the current date.
If Today i am  reversing  the UD of a batch which is 15 days old (Example-15.02.2014) then the posting date in the material document will be of today.
But my requirement is that, date should be the actual inspection lot creation date ie. 15.02.2014 . I have already discussed with the technical team , as
per their understanding no option is there to edit the standard program.
Please help me in this regard, is there any option to change the posting date.
    Regards
    D Mohanty

    Hi,
I understand that you are looking to make 322 movement today but need posting date/ document date in past. I tried my reversal program and I could achieve this. While making the UD reversal, change the date which is required.
In following case, I made the 321 today but in back posting date i.e 15.02.14. For this, refer Document date.
Then again, while making the reversal, I entered the backdate (20.02.14) and same is appearing for the document. Refer 322 movement.
Ofcourse you need to allow posting in previous periods using MMRV.
If you need something else, please come up again.

  • Posting period closing

    Hi Gurus,
Can any one tell me is it neccessary to close the posting period every month. Can i have th posting period for my client open for one full year. which means open and close the posting period only once a year, rather than opening and closing every month.
    Please advise
    Thanks in advance.
    Anoop

The answer to your question would be YES. you can have a past period open and leave it at that for however long you want to..
ex, you want aug 2008 open for the next 6 months
Currently in the system, if you have back posting active, then July 08, and Aug 08 are open
now do not close the period until the next 6 months...so July 08, and Aug 08 will stay open..
Now lets say, September has come, date 09-02-08.. A GR or IR Would not let you post as September is not open yet.. you'd have to choose a date in Jul 08 or Aug 08.. Which again would be incorrect.
so, bottom line.. close the period at the end of each month, else you cannot post to the current calendar month

  • Negative closing stock on back date

    All SAP Gurus,
We have made GR (MIGO) on todays posting date.
And issued the material on yesterday's posting date (past date), (where there was no stock on that date).
System allowed us to issue the material on past date, on which there was no stock.
And now showing closing stock on previous date as negative.
We want to avoid such negative closing stock.
What configuarational changes we need to do?
    Regards,

    hi
This is standard functionality .. u can not do anything in std. as there is no error message available for this
u can do one thing In OMSY u can remove  remove the check mark in the ABp (Allow Back Posting) check box for your Company Code, to stop postings in the closed periods.
or in MMRV  do not tick posting in previous period
