Back Shortcut Keys with PDFs

When browsing on my iBook I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts for most things. Now I like viewing PDF files inside Safari and think it works pretty well except I can't go back using the keyboard shortcut (or forward, that's usually not an issue however). So if I forget to open one in a new tab and realize it's not what I want I have to switch to the trackpad and click on the back button. Why are these shortcuts disabled? Is there a way to fix this?

That works great! Much easier to remember and works whether or not I'm viewing a pdf. They should list that shortcut in the menu instead of the brackets. Thanks!

  • Establishing new shortcut keys WITH coordinate values

    Hello,
I don't know if it's possible, but I am trying to make a shortcut key that will let me move a text box to a specific place. I have a bunch of text boxes on each page, and I want to move each one to a specific area. Going to the transform window and entering the X and Y coordinates is time consuming, so I would like to make shortcut keys I could use for the text boxes. I've looked at the shortcut keys and couldn't find a place where I could enter X and Y coordinates.
Unfortunately when I started out on this project, I didn't know much about InDesign and I disassociated all the text boxes from the master page (yup, went and did it over the course of 2 hours, boy do I regret that now!) otherwise I'd just move the boxes on the master page.
For example, I'd like to move a box from it's current position to
    X: 23.44 mm
    Y; 243.00 mm
Or, if there is an easier way to do this without using shortcut keys, I'd appreciate any help.

I still get an error message. I copied Gerald's script exactly as it appears above, and the error message says "bad argument move" line 2.
Sorry to not get this, but I really have no idea how the script Gerald gave me should appear. Should the entire thing be on one line, should the spaces appear exactly as he has them??? I copied and pasted it in just as it appears below - the same form as above:
    for (n=0; n<app.selection.length; n++) {
    app.selection[n].move([23.44, 100.05]);
Maybe there was some slight adjustment I should have made? Please bear with me, I want to get this right, sorry if I am missing something that everyone else already knows.
I was able to get the "helloworld" script from the tutorial to work, btw, so I know that there isn't some glitch keeping me from executing scripts.

  • Can I use Esc as a shortcut key?

I'm using Captivate 4 to publish .exe files.  The software that I'm simulating uses the Esc key as a keyboard alternative to having to click the Back button on screen with your mouse.  I create the click boxes fine, and can select Esc as the shortcut key with no problem.  The problem comes in both preview and in the published .exe - if the user uses the Esc key, it escapes them from the program!  (I have other click boxes with function keys as the shortcuts and they work, so I'm fairly certain I'm doing it right.)
Is there a way to use Esc as a shortcut key?
If it makes a difference, the files will ultimately be published to an LMS... I'm just publishing as .exe for review until the new LMS is up and running.
    Thanks!

    Hi there
As you have seen, Esc is the keystroke to close an EXE file. When you publish to SWF for insertion into the LMS it should work though.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Shortcut keys NOT working when publish to PDF full screen

We have a series of modules that are published to pdf and the animations run inside the pdf file. We use the Tab shortcut key quite a bit as it simulates the natural progression between form items.
This works fine when viewing the pdf in standard mode. But when you right click on the PDF and go full screen, the Tab key fails to work. It wants to place emphasis on the playback controller.
Has anyone experienced this issue, and do you know the workaround?

If the PDF's page content is not renderable text (e.g., the scanned image/picuture of characters or outlined fonts (which are graphics (a "picuture")) then there is nothing for the Highlight Comment tool to work with.
    So - two trials.
Acrobat's Preferences set to permit "U" to make use of the Underline tool.
Each trial done in Full screen.
#1 = a PDF with scanned stuff. Press "U". Tool is available but unable to highlight anything.
#2 = a PDF with renderable stuff. Press "U". Tool is available & can place highlight over selected characters.
    Be well...

  • Firefox is stumbling when pages with PDF content come up. how can i get my old version3.5.6 back?

    Question
firefox is stumbling when pages with PDF content come up. how can i get my old version3.5.6 back?

Thanks for your response Cor el, I'll try that the next time it happens, it's completely random. One moment it functions normally then suddenly it changes its mind.
Restarting my pc usually brings it back to normal until next time.
One thing I've noticed, but not 100% sure there's a connection here.....I edit my websites online and log into cpanel which opens new pages in separate tabs, as it should do. It seems that this problem occurs when I'm logged into cpanel...if i'm logged in then open a new tab for regular browsing of other sites then all links on those sites also open in new tabs.
Ican't say for sure if it's always only happened when logged into cpanel, but certainly on the last 3 occasions.
At the moment it's behaving normally so much I can do to check your suggestions, but will try them the next time it occurs.
One other thing I forgot to mention too....since i've had the new firefox, I've noticed that when I log into yahoo and post comments, I often find myself having to log on for each new post. Everything was fine with old firefox and there have been no other changes to my pc .

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Shortcut keys in E17 with not english layout don't work.

    Hello,
I use E17 on my old dell laptop. The problem is when keyboard layout switched to not English one I can't use shortcut keys like ctrl-c, ctrl-v, etc.
I tried to configure layouts via xorg configuration, created /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/01-keyboard-layout.conf and added xkbevd to DAEMONS. But seems E17 don't affected from xorg and I still have same behavior.
Dose anyone had same problem? Any suggestions how to fix it?
    thank you

I've had a similar problem, with a need to provide
    keyboard-only accessibility.
I found that users can Tab into the movie. Once they're in,
shortcut keys will work, and fields, rollovers etc can be tabbed
into. It just means you have to advise them of this in an
    introduction to the project.

  • Quick Step Keyboard Shortcuts Work With Number Keys Above Keyboard, But Not On Keypad

Had this same issue with Outlook 2013:
"I assigned hotkeys to several Quick Steps, and used the suggested convention of Ctrl + Shift +1, Ctrl + Shift + 2... through 5.
When I use the number keys above my QWERTY keys, all is well.
When I use the keys on my keypad, Outlook does funny things like collapsing all the day's e-mails into the "Today" heading."
Correct. The keypad values do different things and you can't substitute the keys - you need to use the row numbers with the QAT."
Ergonomically, the number keys on the numpad are far superior to the ones above the keyboard for processing email quickly and easily (and without carpel tunnel!). I'm right-handed so it's much more natural for me to hold down the same two control keys (alt-shift)
with my left hand and select the action (a different key every time) I want with my right. Can do it opposite, but requires more conscious thought and is more subject to error (which defeats the whole purpose when I have to go fish a mis-acted on email out
    of the wrong folder).
Was wondering if this issue had been corrected in 2013 (or there was an easy workaround that doesn't involve writing and maintaining a separate macro or installing/maintaining a separate program like AutoHotKeys). The built-in functionality is 99% what I need,
but the ergonomic issue may make it unusable for me.

    Hi,
I can confirm in Outlook 2013 the shortcut keys can only use the number keys above "QWERTY..." and we can't use the number keys on the keypad. This comes by design and is not changeable currently.
Thank you for focusing on our product, since I can do few on this issue, you can submit your feedback about this request from this link below, Microsoft treasures users voice:

  • Trouble with the brush tool and shortcut keys on a Mac

If I select the brush tool and use it on an image, then go to use shortcut keys like to make the brush bigger, or smaller, to zoom in/out, or change the colour for the mask etc, it won't work.  I need to select another tool then go back to the brush tool to make the shortcuts work again.  After working for a bit again the shortcuts won't work.  Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?

  • How do I install the yahoo toolbar with shortcut keys to firefox 5.0? Says its not supported

Firefox said it was time to update, so I did, and it gave me firefox 5.0. I had to uninstall a lot of my add-ons as they were not compatible with the new 5.0 version, including my yahoo toolbar with shortcut keys, and my favorite add-on. I have lost all my shortcuts on my yahoo toolbar, and all my favorites. When will these add-ons be updated to work with 5.0 or what can I do to downgrade to 4.0 so my internet/computer will function properly again?

You can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Compatibility Reporter add-on] to re-enable your other add-ons to see if they work in Firefox 5.

  • I want to customise my shortcut keys, especially "backspace = back"

I do a lot of in-browser typing, and I'm really sick of the shortcut for the back button, because if I accidentally click out of a text or form box, it shoots me back a page or more and I lose my progress. I've tried to find shortcut settings in the Tools menu, but I can't seem to. How do I at least turn the shortcut keys off? I never use them, and they're more hindrance than help.

  • Accessing tab page with shortcut keys

How to access different tabs in a tab canvas using shortcut keys?
    dipincha

e.g. you use your oracle terminal and define:
    KEY-F0 = Ctrl-0
    KEY-F1 = Ctrl-1
    KEY-F2 = Ctrl-2
After that you can use the forms-trigger KEY-F0 to -F9.
In the trigger you hardcode e.g.
    KEY-F1 : go_item (<Item of first tab>)
    KEY-F2 : go_item (<Item of second tab>)
    That's it
