Back to iTunes 4, now can't update iPod
I got rid of my iTunes 5 and Quicktime 7, then reinstalled iTunes 4. Now I can't update my iPod, it says "The sotware required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." I tried reinstalling it already and nothing happened. Any suggestions of what I need to do?
Here's what I suggest... (And B Noir on these discussions is very good at solving these types of problems). I owe a lot to him for getting me back on track!
I UNinstalled Itunes and Quicktime. Re-booted my system. Downloaded Standalone version of Q7. Save to hard Drive and load from there. Don't install from Web. Re-boot. I then installed my version of ITunes from Disk (V4.1?). re-booted. Then downloaded V5 from web to Hard Drive again and installed from there. (Do not install from WEB) Re-booted.
When I hooked up IPod it prompted me to upgrade IPod software. After doing this, not only was I up and running, but it re-populated my Library and I was good to go. Also very important, make sure your anti-virus software is OFF!

Dual users = iPad & iTunes confusion, now can't update podcasts

I bought a first-gen iPad, and my wife connected it into her Macbook while she was signed in to her iTunes account, in order to give me some her iPhone apps. As a result, the iTunes on the iPad initially logged in with her user info.
Since then, I have subsequently connected my iPad to her Macbook, but sometimes while I was logged into my iTunes account on the iPad, and sometimes while she was logged into her iTunes account on the the iPad.
For lack of a better phrase, I feel like this has resulted in some Macbook iTunes confusion, and she is now constantly seeing pop-ups asking her to authorize her iTunes account on her Macbook, when she already has, and now she cannot update her podcasts. (I'm sure there are some other issues we are not seeing as well.)
Is there anyway to remove all traces of my usage from her Macbook iTunes account, so that there is no overlap between users?

Before wiping your iTunes account off, restore your iPad as a new device. That will take everything off your iPad (Should do the same with iTunes)
So no account, no device. Then you can go about re-doing you're own library for your device.
However I've not had a chance to test this myself, so can't comment on it's success. An Apple expert should be able to help if you're in need of better advice than mine -

In an attempt to solve my recent power issue I restored my iPod last night. This has just made things worse.
I now cannot update my iPod on iTunes. It recognizes its connected because the iPod is listed in the Source list but I cannot click on Update iPod.
Any ideas?

Can connect to itunes store but can't update ipod
So I can Connect to my App's Store and Download Apps but for some reason I cant Update my App's. When I enter my password to Update my App's the screen says Cannot Connect to App Store. I've Restored my Ipod at the Apple Store and it didn't Help so if theres anything I can do to fix this, it would be Great. Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
It sounds like your Apple ID is used for both the iTunes & App Stores and iCloud. If you edited that Apple ID before signing out of the iCloud on your devices, it may be necessary to edit the Apple ID back to the original email account so that you can sign out of iCloud. Once signed out, you can edit the Apple ID back to the new email account and sign back in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

Downloaded new iTunes but now can't access store....HELP PLEASE!
In order to download a TV programme from iTunes I had to download a newer version of iTunes however, when I downloaded this it gave me a message saying in order to now use the iTunes store I had to have Safari 4, however, I can't download Safari 4 as my mac is only 10.5.2 and it needs to be 10.5.7, now can I update my mac to be 10.5.7 (I found this patch but don't want to download it unless it's right - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1058comboupdate .html ) OR can I get rid of the iTunes I downloaded and have my old one back???

That is the correct updater to bring your system up to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5.

You can't but it's not particularly easy. Try updating Mac OS X and then installing Safari 4.0.3 and see where that gets you. Then if you continue to have problems, post back and someone can help further.

I've changed AppleID and now can't update Apps. Help!
I've seen lots of discussion on similar lines but don't seem to find any solutions. To be clear, all I've done is follow instructions from Apple regarding how to change AppleID. I did this as old email account was about to become obsolete. Which also means I can't just change back. When I now try to update Apps, the password popup has the old AppleID hardwired. If I sign out and in with new AppleID this does not change. I don't recall any warning from Apple that changing my AppleID would create this problem. I am now dead scared that it is being treated like a new account which will also cause me problems with music downloads etc. From the amount of similar complaints online I would not seem to be the only victim here. Does anyone have a clear answer to this?
On your iDevice, make sure you first log out then log back in with the updated AppleID.
Settings > Store, tap the account name then Sign out and Sign in.
The AppleID used to purchase the item is embedded into the item at time of purchase.
If you have simply updated your AppleID, just use the current password when the old AppleID shows up. You don't need to (and cannot) change the AppleID to the new AppleID. -
i got an iPad and all my app's, music, and movies are on it, but when i try to download some apps to mi iPhone, they doesn't appear on the purchased tab, how could i move them back to itunes so i can access thru iCloud? i have an 2nd generetion ipad and an iphone 5, thanks for you answers!
(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

I can not sync my IPhone to My Imac. I have the latest version of ITunes on my Imac. I have tried reseting my phone (3), changing ports. Nothing works. I was thinking maybe my phone has the earlier version of ITunes but I can't update it.

I had to uninstall itunes and now can't reinstall it
I got an iphone 4s and my laptop wouldn't recognise it so after following advice I uninstalled itunes and now can't re-install it.
