Back up and resync iPhone
Hi,
My laptop crashed. Lost all what was on it. Also I haven't backed up my iPhone since I got it in December 2012. I have a new laptop and have loaded itunes on my new laptop. I now want to back up my iphone and pair it with my new laptop.
Help? What do I do so my iPhone doesn't lose everything.
Second question.... even if I did back it up how would I get the back up files from itunes when I reloaded it on my new laptop

Backing up and restoring iPhone if computers change
My employer provides me with an MacBook OSX laptop and I was thinking of syncing all my iPhone stuff to that machine.
But since this is my employer's machine, I would have to give it up if I ever quit, or if they want me to change to a different machine for some reason.
So if I sync everything to the MacBook, is there an easy way to backup or transfer the contacts to another machine? The problem is that I have corrupted software on my phone. I need to wipe the phone and sync with iTunes as a new phone, without restoring from a previous backup. If I restored the phone from a previous backup, the phone would inherit the corrupted software of the previous backup as well. I have to do a fresh install and sync. MobileMe will take care of restoring my contacts, notes, bookmarks, calendars and mail. MobileMe does not back up SMS/MMS data. What I am looking for is a way to back up the current SMS/MMS data to the computer and then sync it to my freshly wiped iPhone that is synced with iTunes as a new phone. Third party software is fine, as are lengthy, intricate, complicated processes. The goal is simply to get the SMS/MMS data off of my phone and then back onto my phone after it is wiped.

In iTunes go to > Edit > preferences > Devices. you will see backups in that list by date/time -
My iPhone suddenly lost all contacts this afternoon. Hadnt even been using it. When I tried to Back it up and resync on the computer it wanted to update after installing the update to the computer it crashed the phone. Now I have no assess to the phone. It has gone to the original setting that tells you to connect to iTunes. iTunes does not recognize the phone any longer.

I am trying to back up my new Iphone on to ICloud. It shows I dont have enough storage because it still has stuff from the old IPhone. How can I back up this phone and erase from the other. Apple kept the other phone when they replaced it. If I hit the delete storage for the other phone (which shows up on the Icloud Icon on this phone) will I lose everything on this phone? That's what I want to avoid....
If it's corrupt, generally it would be lost.
However, there is third-party software out there that can retrieve some of the data, those of which however I could not recommend as I have never done so myself.
Also, if the old 4S was running a more recent software version than the current 4S, that may cause the issue however usually iTunes tells you exactly that.

I accidentally clicked "restore" when I meant to "back up" on my iphone 5, is there anyway I can undo that and get back to what I had?
Once the Device is being Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this. -
Backing up and restoring X2 iphones - having conflict issues

My wife and I have been using the 3gs for 2 years and have now upgraded ;-) I pluged mine into itunes and backed it up, then pluged in my new one and restored and it all works fine.
However when I tried to backup my wifes phone and then restored - it just restored as mine again, so we had 2 new phones with all my details on it!!
So I restored to factory setting on the iphone 4s
I have tried uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling but it still has my phones info on it.
Please can you tell me how to back up and restore my wire iphone and for it not to keep using my phones details ??
Thanks Chris.As long as you are NOT running a production application on Oracle's Hosted site.. You can't really run a scheduler job, since it would usually export stuff to your local server, but you don't have access to that on Oracle's site.. Unless you just want to build a form to output data from your tables, that would push the data down to your workstation, there is no other rel means.. Other hosting companies will allow you to use Sql Developer and such, but then again you are paying to use their site..

4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

I have never backed up my iphone to my itunes because I always used the cloud. However, a few months ago, my wifi disk in my phone burned out so the Apple Store told me to back up everything to my itunes. I am going today to get the iphone 6 so I connected my phone (iphone 4S) to my itunes and I backed up and synced. However, when I look throughout the summary page and click in different areas (Photos, Movies), I don't see any of my data -- it is still asking me to Sync from iPhoto or to sync from another location. By backing up & syncing my phone, did all of my data get saved? Or do I still need to do more steps?
Sorry for the long winded question, I am just so nervous to get a new phone and plug it in to be restored and not have any of my pictures, videos or contacts, etc. Any help would be so so appreciated!Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

When I get an alert from my car sat nav the music on my iphone has a long delay before it comes back on and misses a part of the track why does it do this.

i generally back up and restore my phone every week.. just that i dont have any problem with the network issues. !!
today at 00:46 1st june.. i backed up my iphone and it was perfect...
when i try to restore it.. it is taking 15+ hours .. and that time stays like that for almost 3 hours... it does not happen.
i even called the apple help center. and they said me to install as a new device... and when i said what wil happen to my messages.. they say .. they wont stay.. and wil be deleted.. and all my apps i need to download again..

At any rate, if you must restore, perform a device reset (settings>general>reset) and then you will have the opportunity to restore from iCloud. Restore a device whenever it no longer works correctly, not just as a matter of maintenance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. -
Every time I started to at least restore the little data left on the very last update I made in the old phone at Itune It continualy kept trying to restore and at the end a message will appear saying that an error had occurred and restore was unable to complete. Please I need help on this. I got over 2,000 songs in the old phone and I don't want to loose them. Thanks!

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.

A few months back I Dropped my iPhone 4 and I cracked my screen and now i cant unlock my phone due to touch screen not working plus there are blurred lines across the screen and I can't see anything that it displays.
Now when I try too connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer at home an error message comes up saying that I have to unlock my iPhone 4 for it to communicate to my device.
But the problem is that I can't unlock my iPhone 4 because I'm unable to see the key pad and my touch screen no longer responds when I touch it.
I just want to reset my iPhone 4 back to its Factory Settings & start all over from the beginning.
How can I unlock my iPhone 4 with iTunes on my computer or any other option you suggest me trying.

If Verizon return it to Apple it wil not be handled by Apple
If Verizon also use unauthorised repairers you may be lucky
