Back Up Catalog error
We keep getting this error message when trying to back up the catalog, any thoughts as how to fix this?
Ok - cracked it.
Changing user's permission on the hard drive of the computer didn't help.
So I looked at user rights on the back up drive (is that what you meant anyway?) and there were none shown - so I changed them to full rights and back up went ok.
So ..... if you meant to check user rights on the back up drive, and I have now changed user rights for all users on the computer hard drive (drive C) then have I created problems for myself (there seemed to be a lot of scary warnings about reducing security etc).
In practice this is a home computer only used by me and my wife (unless a technician has to repair it etc and they no doubt have the knowledge to do naughty things if they want) so unless the user right changes cause operational problems there won't be any security etc issues (will there??)

Lightroom wont open due to catalog error
I have been trying to open lightroom but I keep getting a catalog error and I read all of the forums to help my problem but I just dont understand how to fix it. I have uninstalled and installed almost three times and it still hasnt fixed it. I was learning how to use lightroom then I was just seeing what a catalog was I guess I did something wrong and i got the error. it says cant open dadsfamilypictures 101.jpg.ircat it was a whole file of pictures. Can someone fix this for me! I dont know how to get it to work. Thank you!
Yes that worked I just had to rename the prefreneces! Thank you that was alot easier than looking at half of the stuff on here. I can now use it after ive been trying to figure this out before christmas! Thank you!

Trouble updating to iOS 5 on my wife's iPhone 4 connected to our iM, right before download finishes downloading iTunes comes back with the error message Software corrupted during download. Please check network settings and try again later, however there was no problem updating my iPhone to iOS 5 through iTunes connceted to my dell laptop on the same wireless network. What gives?
Try disabling your firewall; both on your PC and the external Firewall/Router.

It sounds like you are unable to successfully install iTunes. I recommend the troubleshooting instructions in this article named:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Here is a general outline of where the troubleshooting will take you:
General installation troubleshooting
1. Empty your Temp directory and restart
2. Completely remove iTunes and related components
3. Install the latest version of iTunes
Additional troubleshooting
After performing each of the steps below, you will need to completely remove iTunes and related components and then install iTunes again to determine whether the issue is resolved.
1. Make sure you have administrator account access
2. Make sure your folder names don't contain strange characters
3. Get the latest Windows updates
4. Disable other conflicting software
Additional Information
If you only need to install QuickTime, or if iTunes installs but QuickTime installation did not complete
Try downloading and installing the standalone version of QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/. Be sure you download the version that does not include iTunes.
If the steps outlined in this article don't help, you may be able to find a solution to your issue by searching the Microsoft support website.

Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers. -
Photoshop Elements 10 Backing up Catalog
When I go into the Organizer, hit File Back Up Catalog to CD/DVD or Hard Drive my stsyem goes into a loop. How can i fix that?
You mean your catalog folder's size is 17.9GB? How many image/video/audio/project files are there in your catalog?
Can you please check if some files in your catalog are locked by some other application or are read-only?? If yes, they will not be picked up for backup and hence the hang.
Please turn off all background processes like people recognition, auto analysis and visual search indexing from Edit >> Preferences >> Media Analysis. Close Organizer and kill the following exes if running, from the Task Manager-
elementsautoanalyzer.exe
photoshopserver.exe
dynamiclinkmanger.exe
adobephotoshopfileagent.exe
any sync related exe
Now relaunch Organizer and try taking backup.

can't reload Photoshop elements 7 on my windows 7 operating system. Everything goes well and it appears to be installing. All of the sudden the Installer starts to roll back everything and error message shows up saying I can't use this product at this time.
How do I do that? I'm the only user on the laptop - I kind of assumed I already was running the install as the admin.

Can't activate imessage on my daughters ipod touch 5th gen. Comes back with "An error occured during activation". It was working until I updated to latest IOS version 7.1.2. Managed to update Facetime ok but can't do anything with iMessage. Can anyone help?

- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I'm getting the "Time Machine can't back up - sparsebundle error #1" message, and am trying to see if the fix posted below is the answer:

So, when I installed Time Capsule, I gave it a password ("network password").
Fairly recently, I renamed the Airport. Now the Airport disk password and Airport base station password are the same as the network password, and the Airport network password is different.
Is this what the Apple support message I referenced is getting at? Are these passwords supposed to be the same... ???

reluctantuserI'm not sure what you mean by "We also used the Time capsule as a hard drive for backing up." after you've already mentioned that you use Time Machine to back up three Macs to the Time Capsule.

I was updating my iPad 2 to the latest version, I have never updated before. It was done downloading and was backing up. Error in backing up (-5000). I tried restarting, no help. Someone please help.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.

Emails to my mac account are bouncing back with an error message saying that my IP address is not a valid IPv4 address. How do I correct?
Has nobody answered your question? I have this problem as well. Only one sender, to my knowledge is bouncing. Want to know how to fix it. It's my mom, so either way - my end or her end, I have to fix it. Does anyone have any answers?

How to fix Lightroom 5.6 from crashing when backing up catalog database (external AND local backup) - Mac 10.9.5
It starts to cue and within 3-4 seconds, the program just crashes hard. As stated, I tried it on local hard drive and external. Same result...
In the destination backup folder, it will copy over one folder, no images.

Exchange Console Global Catalog Errors
I failed to mention that I had him change the default connector to accept connections on 172.16.4.0/24, their old subnet, because that would preserve their old devices ability to send emails, while resolving the new connectors conflict with the default connector. He had started a new subnet on the same LAN 172.16.2.0/24 and we created a receive connector for it.
Recently I had a customer make some changes to their receive connectors. It seems the prior IT person used the range 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255 for addresses it would accept connections from in his default receive connector. I needed to create a new connector as an anonymous open internal connector so we could get the copiers to scan to email.
After making the changes, he closed the console, but I had forgotten to edit the authentication and encryption tabs. When he reopened the Exchange Console, it failed because of global catalog errors. He has not been able to get in since.
He is claiming that the changes we made are responsible. I think not. First, why would Exchange allow you to make a change that borked your ability to make further changes? Secondly, how can a receive connector cause the colsole to fail to connect to the global...
