Back up contacts from cloud to samsung galaxy s5

I just updated to the Samsung Galaxy s5 from the iPhone 4s.  I backed everything up to the cloud. It initial transfer was fine but I noticed I had a lot of duplicates. (It wasn't the clouds fault. It is because of the way I had my contacts in my blackberry, which was then added to my iphone, and some how some contacts were in there 4 or 5 times.) I signed into the cloud on the computer to manage the contacts. I had 2138 contacts to start with and by the time i deleted all of the duplications from the cloud, I was down to 966. My problem is that it will not sync to my phone now. At first when I tried to sync it i got the message "Cloud Back up contacts Failed."  Now it says it is syncing fine, but it is only syncing what I deleted from my phone, not from the cloud (I had started to delete from the phone but it was much easier to do it from the cloud). Help! How do I get my updated contacts list from the cloud to sync to my galaxy s5?  I really don't want to have to delete them all from the phone!  It is so much more tedious and takes so much longer!

Thanks for your help.  I have tried using the desktop version of the
cloud.  It's weird because everything EXCEPT my contacts are there but they
are there on the cloud online.  I ended up calling Verizon yesterday.  They
tried walking me through some things but they were even stumped.  They put
in a ticket for the cloud "experts" who hopefully should be calling me back
soon. If not it looks like I will be deleting everything manually on the
phone itself which will take me a while!
Thanks again!

Are you sure that you can transfer contacts from the iPod to Skydrive?
I would try the links that I previusly provided and try to get iTunes to see the iPOd so you can do everthing right.
If you find a computer that can see the iPOd yu can update the iPod on that computer.  See:
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5
Yu can make that your suncing computer by -
    - Transfering iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Connect the iPod and make a backup by right clicking on the iPOd under Dvices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore from that backup. That will also update the iPod.

You can perform a "cross-platform" restore like this, but it will only restore settings and apps that are compatible with your iPad Mini.  For example, apps that are not "universal" so they will work on both your iPod Touch and your iPad Mini will not be restored.

    Hey sekhardharmana8584!
You can transfer your Outlook contacts to your iPhone using the information in the following article:

How can i transfer back up contact from desktop pc working on Windows 7 to iphone 5 working on ios 8.1?

You can't restore to a backup that was taken on a device which has a higher version of iOS than on your iPad, you will have to update your iPad to 8.1.3 to be able to restore to it
You should be able to update your iPad via Settings > General > Software Update

  • Backing up Contacts from Samsung Galaxy S4 to Macbook Pro Retina

    Hi,
I'm going to change samsung phones and I need to back up my contacts. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Macbook Pro Retina, Late 2013, with Mavericks. When I try to back up the contacts through bluetooth the phones pair up but connection is can never be established. I can't even browse the device. So I downloaded Android File Transfer and I can back up pictures, documents, and music, but I don't see where to back up contacts so i can upload them to the next samsung I will have.
    Please Let me know. Thanks

Dunno if you helps you, but you do need some sort of Android File transfer application. go to www.android.com/filetransfer to get that tool/ You may also need Samsung Kies. (www.samsung.com/us/kies) which should get you somewheres. I don't know if you can use Bluetooth on your MacBook to do that kind of thing. I think it's for mice, keyboards, maybe headphones, but file transfer? not too sure about that. I used to have this old flip phone that used to work with Bluetooth, but that was a long time ago and doesn't really apply here.  Oh, and you know this forum is for Mac Pro's (the desktop Mac), right?

  • Get back deleted contacts from i cloud?

I have 2 iphones on my cloud account.  I deleted contacts from one phone and found out that it deleated from the other as well.  Is there anyway to get those contacts back?

    Not necessarily,
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
        1.    Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
        2.    Start the restore from iCloud back up.
        3.    Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
        4.    As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
        5.    Wait for the time out confirmation.
        6.    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
        7.    Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
        8.    Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
        9.    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • Back up contacts from Samsung Reality to Droid 2X

I went on backup assistant and kept getting Flash errors. I have a Samsung Reality and I am upgrading to a Droid 2x in the next day or so. I wanted to back up my contacts but the FAQ on that subject don't seem to apply to me or the SR - (downloading the BA software). I went through all the steps but when it came to download or purchase the app, the Flash allow dialog pop up froze. Tried it three times.
I have a good data plan with the SR - so can I back up contacts or will I have to manually re-enter in the Droid?

    Nevermind! I figured it out!

  • Unable to back up contacts from Droid MAXX to cloud

I am complete lost here. Ever since I installed Verizon Cloud all of my online storage for contacts has disappeared. I visit the coud site and it says there are no contacts there. I originally had Backup Assistant PLUS installed and it worked fine. This new system sucks. According to Verizon I should turn off Backup Assistant Plus, but there is no setting to do that. At least one I can find. I cannot even find the app to delete it. This sucks. Maybe time to invest in an I-phone, I can never get a Verizon support specialist to assist me either.

Using Google sync is very easy to do. On most Android devices, your contacts are automatically synced when you first set up your phone and sign into your Google Account.
To start off, be sure to Sign in to your Account in settings.
Turn on the Account and syncing service in G mail
Check to be sure you’ve enabled the ‘Sync Contacts’ option.
Press ‘Sync now’ button and wait until all the phone contacts are successfully synchronized with your gmail account.
Now open Gmail in your computer’s web browser and click the Gmail text link that is listed on the upper left side of the Gmail profile.
Select Contacts and then you will see a page where the contacts from your Smartphone have been stored.
. One other tip is to export your contacts to an SD card and them importing them to your G mail account.

  • Backing up contacts from iphone 5s to laptop / icloud

    Hi
I am desperately trying to back up my contacts from my iphone to my laptop & / Or icloud.
On my phone most of the contacts comefrom my live.com (outlook) email account - hoever when I go into live.com my contacts arent there.  I was told to pull the contacts of live.com into an CSV file and then upload to cloud but on Live.com the only contacts are my linkedin contacts not the actual phone contacts
This is really becoming an issue and all the advice points towards getting the contacts from the relevant email accounts but that is proving impossible
SO i wondered if there was another way of pulling the information directly from the iphone (like in the good old days on Nokia!)
    Please help!
    HH

    Hi head-hurtz!
If your contacts are stored on iCloud, you can export them in vCard format directly from the iCloud website to achieve this goal:

  • Phone was stolen but can't retrieve contacts from cloud on new phone. Am I out of luck?

My phone was stolen and may not be backed up on the cloud. Are my contacts lost forever?

There are several ways of backing up contacts:
They are included in backups of your phone to iTunes
They are included in backups of your phone to iCloud
You can set up the phone to sync contacts with an app on your computer when you sync the phone with iTunes
You can set up an iCloud account and sync the contacts to iCloud (this is different from backing up)
You can set the phone to sync contacts with your gmail contact list
You can set the phone to sync contacts with an MS Exchange server if you have an account on one.
If you did not do any of these things they are lost.

  • How do I back up Contacts from iPhone to PC

I am under the impression (perhaps mistaken) that the Contacts on my iPhone can be backed up onto my Windows 7 Home Premium PC so as to appear in the Contacts Folder.
    How do I do this?
I have tried going through the procedure of launching iTunes (11.1.0.126) connecting my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.2) clicking the iPhone button and in the window that opens below selecting back up to this computer. That ran through apparently OK, but the Contacts from my iPhone were not transferred to the Contacts Folder on my PC.
    Can this be done?
    If so how?
I have backed up to iCloud but also would like to back up my Contacts to my PC.

If she uses a computer to log into her iCloud account, she can export her contacts as a vCard file, which can then be imported into your iCloud account (when logged into iCloud via a computer, click on Contacts then look for the "gear" at the lower-left corner).  She can also do a similar thing from her GMail account, but if you want to import to your iCloud make sure she exports as vCard since that's all iCloud can read.
There are also apps that export your contacts in a variety of formats and I think it then sends the exported file as an e-mail attachment.  That might be the easiest process, assuming that you both have the same app or at least compatible apps that can export/import the same file type.
Another solution is try extracta contats from your iPhone backp, just backp your iPhone to iTunes, then extact contacts, messages from your iPhone to computer, this is the article: How to extract iPhone data from iTunes backup file

  • Backing up contacts from Q10 to a PC

I switched from an android back to a Blackberry and so far I have only run into one problem. There were lots of duplicates in my google account but while Blackberry managed to download all my contacts from the account, it did little to deal with the duplicates. So I patiently dealt with duplicates by deleting some, linking some, etc.
Now, I need a back up of all my contacts on my PC, which I have been unable to do so with Link considering, it only provides a one-way link -- from outlook to blackberry.
I am in no mood to share my contact book with yet another third party.
Given all this, how do I back up my contacts?

Hi mikhilbhat and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Because your contacts are synchronized with your Google account, they will not be backed up, this is by design.
    Thanks.
