Back up disc cannot be found
I was changing a few setting on the time capsule. In the process it started saying that the back up disc could not be found. I haven't backed up my laptop since that happened so that it would not overwrite the backup I need. Any suggestions?
Try just reselecting your Time Capsule in TM Preferences.
If that doesn't help, try a "full reset" per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If still no help, reset the Time Capsule, per http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728

IPod cannot be synced the required disc cannot be found
Hello i dont know if someone already posted about this, i couldnt find something like it.
My iPod is a Shuffle first generation
When i connect my ipod to my computer it detects its as normal (Driver F or G), then itunes opens and then says "ipod has been succesfully synced" as it always does, but now when i try to put a song in it it stays for like 5 minutes with "Syncing iPod do not disconnect" after those 5 minutes a message appears:
"The iPod "IPOD" cannot be synced. The required disc cannot be found."
I tried restoring it but i couldnt it said something about error in iPod so it erased all files in the iPod including the ones in iPod control hidden folder. The weird thing is that i connected it to 5 iMacs from my school and there iTunes had no problem syncing music to my iPod and i could listen to it and everything but when i returned home the old problem came back, i dont want to go to my school to sync my iPod everytime i want to erase or put another song in it.
Please i need to solve this ive had my iPod for 1 1/2 years and it worked perfect until recently and i live in mexico i cant order a replacement or anything. i think this happened after an itunes upgrade i think it was 7.4, my ipod has the latest version for ipod shuffle first generation 7.5I have the same problems with 2 different ipod shuffles (1 is a 1st Generation, the other a 2nd generation). I have tried them on several different PCs with the same error. I followed the apple document listed in this disussion an none of the solutions work for me. I ended up using the Apple reset tool to get them working, only to have the problem come back when I trying syncing with pcs that have I-Tunes 7.3.x or 7.4.x. After resetting it again, I found a PC that hadn't been updated for a while and had I-Tunes 7.1.x. That worked as I expected and I was able to sync multiple times without any issues. I would be willing to go back to that version except the I-tunes backup I have is 6 months old and missing alot of music purchased since then and the current libraries don't work on the older version. Any suggestion on what is going on with the 7.3 and 7.4 versions of I-Tunes and the shuffles and how I can resolve the problem?

IPod Touch "cannot be synced. The required disc cannot be found."
Yesterday, I bought 3 CD's (yep, the physical kind) and today I ripped them into iTunes on my 24" iMac (with my usual custom settings, 256kbps, stereo, 44,100 KHz, with error correction on). I had synced my iPod Touch earlier this morning. Then I went to sync my iPod Touch (2nd gen., 32GB) to get the new albums onto it (it had about 3GB of space, so shouldn't have been a problem, I thought).
However, my iPT and/or iTunes (10.3.1) started getting flaky on me. I got most of the way through syncing, but when iTunes starts transferring my Music back onto the iPT, after several tracks had been transferred to the iPT, I get a message "The iPod "[iPod's Name Here]" cannot by synced. The required disc cannot be found. When I click on the OK, iTunes shows "Finishing Sync" and then says OK to Disconnect. (?) So I try it again (several times) - some times I notice that the iPod's screen shows "Sync in Progress" even after the error message appears and I get the OK to Disconnect message after that - ? - and another time, the iPod screen (partway through syncing the music, but after syncing the apps) just goes to the charging icon with no message about syncing. I tried restarting the iPT with the 'silver' Apple logo and all - still getting errors. After some of the problems, I disconnected the USB cable from my iMac and tried unlocking the iPT's screen with my password, and then things looked sort okay - except none of the new songs show up in the Music part of my iPT.
Thinking the iPT's timing out on me, or maybe has a bad cable, I switch to a newer cable I got, but I'm still having same kinds of problems and cannot get the new albums onto the iPT. By the way, the songs play fine within iTunes, so no indication that they are garbled or such.
It's beginning to feel like my iPod Touch and/or iTunes are ptiching a fit because I didn't buy these albums from the iTMS. Verrrrrry frustrating!
Jim R.Are you also syncing photos? If yes, try to delete the photo cache folder, explained in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
If this does not help, see this article for more suggestions: "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod -
XP : "required disc cannot be found"??? anyone?
i upgraded to the new itunes software yesterday & have been trying to import some cds but the same thing keeps happening- it starts to import, gets about 3-4 songs in & stops, saying the required disc cannot be found. then i take the disc out, put it back in, start importing again, same thing.
i imported a disc yesterday before upgrading the software w/ no problem. it is getting progressively worse, importing fewer & fewer songs each time.
is this itunes or my computer?
thanks!!!It seems to be random and happens after about 3 or 4 songs. If I disconnect and reconnect I am able to get those songs and it will then happen again 3 or 4 songs later.
It happened with my wife's iPod but not mine, and we noticed that it was happening if she was dragging and dropping individual songs while other songs were still being loaded.
I was dragging and dropping entire CD's into mine and it went fine, she was also able to drag and drop groups of songs with no problem, it seems to happen when she's adding individual songs while it's still loading. -
My iTunes doesn't sync ALL of my music to my iPod, saying "the required disc cannot be found"
When I sync my iPod, only about half of my music syncs and a message comes up saying "the required disc cannot be found"
Please help me!!!
Thankyou so so muchDeleting the iPod Photo Cache folder usually resolves the problem. For its location see:

The iPod cannot be updated. The required disc cannot be found
I am gettin an annoying message that "the required disc cannot be found" and am not sure how to resolve. The iPod shuffle seems to updat with songs successfully. I also tries restoring for factory settings to perhaps start from scratch. I also tunred off all automatic updates in the settings to no avail.
Any ideas?Try this; disable your virus protection. If this works for you, you can also thank Apple Tech Support.
I'm unsure if this is an iPod problem or an iTunes
problem, so forgive me if this is in the wrong forum.
I've been getting this error message repeatedly since
I started using my 2nd-gen iPod Shuffle: "The iPod
cannot be updated. The required disc cannot be
found."
This worries me because it's the same error message I
started receiving just before my first-gen Shuffle
started doing the infamous "green light/amber light"
thing. This is not exclusive to my computer (Mac mini
1.5 GHz Intel Core Solo with OS 10.4.8); a family
member uses an iMac (700 MHx PowerPC G3 with OS
10.3.9), and iTunes displays the same message with
her 2nd-gen Shuffle. Both computers have the latest
version of iTunes, and both iPods are up to date on
their software.
Other than this, there appears to be no immediate
effect of the fuctionality of iTunes or the iPods.

I am getting an error that my Disc cannot be found, may be dirty, etc... Please reinsert and try again. After retrying, I cannot download, as the redemption code indicates that it has already been used. How do I download movie now?
Thanks for the quick advice!
Unfortunately, I am still unable to open my core productivity apps, namely Skype and Evernote. Twitter, as well, could not start. But interesting quick fix though, I never knew you could do that.
Here's the error log after the restart:

"Your Time Machine back up disk cannot be found." What does this mean?
I have an external hard drive that has never been disconnected from my iMac.
About 3 weeks ago, I started noticing that some of my iTunes library songs had "!" in front of them, and I wasn't able to find them to play. Over time, more and more iTunes songs had this problem. Someone recommended that I look in the hard drive library, for individual titles, and sure enough, there they were! I've been dragging them back to iTunes but this is going to take forever, because I'm a music teacher and I have a lot of songs in my library.
In this process, I decided to see if the songs were still on the external hard drive, the Time Machine. However, I get the message "your time machine back up disk cannot be found." I have no idea what this must mean, because the Time Machine has been plugged in for a couple of years now. But somehow, the computer doesn't recognize it any more.
Are the two problems related? And what should I do?There is no relation.
Time Machine backups : my opinion is that this is a real waste of disk space, usefull for a few number of files but that's all ! In case of a reinstallation, everyone is performing a fresh installation ... In addition, after a certain time, TM erases the oldest files.
I personnaly backup only on mediums (CDs, DVDs, DVDs) etc ... then i'm always sure to find again what i'm searching for.
iTunes : a "!" means that you have moved from one place to another an audio file (or erasing it by error) and iTunes has just stored a link to the file and not the file inside its own folders. Probably you have never consolidated you library. The question is : where are you storing your files ? inside your mac plus inside external drives ? Please make sure, if you are managing often files in iTunes, to consolidate them in order for iTunes to copy them inside its own folders, else it becomes quickly a nightmare.
iTunes manages files on 3 different ways now :
- real files inside it
- links to files out of its folders
- files from iTunesMatch -
Cannot find file, Disc Cannot be found.
I am having problems connecting my iPod mini to my computer through iTunes. I plug in the ipod and it updates about 100 or so songs and then it gives me an error and says that the iPod cannot be updated because the required file cannot be found. I hit sync again to see what would happen and it said that the required disc cannot be found. I was wondering if there were any suggestions to solving this problem. I have tried restoring the iPod multiple times to no avail.
I have been restoring it and trying to copy to it repeatedly and this time it gave me the file cannot be found error, but then it said. Attempting to copy to the disc "name's iPod" failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.

I updated my Shuffle software and after that could no longer add tunes from the ITunes file to my shuffle. I get messages that say the disc cannot be found and an error code (.53). I can download new tunes to ITunes on my computer but cannot then copy them to my Shuffle. Any suggestions? Damned updates!!!
Well my first suggestion would be to return the PC and buy a new Mac instead... but that aside
When you say you moved your iTunes library over how exactly did you do that? Typically I'd suggest that you download a clean version of iTunes from online, and then move over just the music files. Not any of the additional library relates files that are found in the iTunes folder. Yes you'll lose your playlists and song counts, but there are worse things in life. -
When I try to import some cd's into iTunes, it will appear to import a track, but then an error message pops up stating, "Error occured while converting the file 'xxx.' The required disc cannot be found." After I close this dialog box, I cannot manually open my CD-ROM drive and Windows will not recognize the drive at all. I have to restart my computer and then I can open the drive manually. If I run Diagnostics on the cd in iTunes, I receive this message...

I have just bought a 6th gen nano. when trying to sync it I keep getting the message Cant be synced. required disc cannot be found. Any help on getting around this???
What have you tried in terms of troubleshooting so far? Has the iPod ever been able to successfully sync with this PC and iTunes before or is this the first time you are connecting it?
I would first make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port directly on your PC and NOT through a HUB. If possible, use a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable as well.
Is the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes?

Trying to sync...required disc cannot be found
I have been trying to sync my iphone for two days now....no luck...either it says required disc cannot be found or it starts syncing and then says ...iphone device timed out.HELP!!!
Were you able to sync your iPhone with this computer previously and this problem started two days ago?
Does your computer have USB 2.0 ports and if so, are you connecting your iPhone to a USB port on your computer and not connected to a USB hub, or to an available USB port on your keyboard or monitor?
