Back up in Photoshop elements 11
When I attempt backup, the program prepares files, give choice of type of backup the after next starts calculating total media size, but lock up at 15-16 %... How does one trouble shoot this problem or get the program to finish a backup?
First you need to repair your catalogue; Then you need to optimize your catalogue; Now you are ready to backup your catalogue.
To repair and to optimize you need to do this:
File >> Manage Catalogs. You will see something like this after you have selected your catalog:
Now you are ready to backup your catalogs by going to:
File >> Backup Catalog

I am running Photoshop Elements 5.0 on Windows 7. The back-up feature no longer functional. My last full back-up was a year ago. When I try to perform an incremental back-up, it hangs (Not Responding) and I have to close the program. With over 34,000 photos, I am concerned about continuing to use the program to manage my photos. I am hesitant to upgrade to 11 with all the problems I am having with 5.0 (no back-up and unable to share photos to Outlook).

This should not stop you from buying version 11 because version 11 is still supported up to windows 8. -

How to back up from Photoshop Elements 8 to Revel
My photos were backed up from PSE 8 to the Elements backup on photoshop.com. Now they have been automatically moved to Revel. How do I back up more photos from PSE 8 to Revel? When I try to do a backup from PSE 8 it connects to the old photoshop.com backup.
It sounds like you want to get more of your files onto Revel but are not sure how to since you can not save from Elements to Photoshop.com anymore and since Elements 8 does not communicate with Revel. What you can do now it upload your photos to Revel directly from your Mac or PC. If you have a Mac, you can download the Revel app and upload from your Mac. If you have a PC, you can upload via a web browser at adoberevel.com. If you upgrade to Elements 11, you will have the ability to upload to Revel from Elements if you choose (it is not quite the same as the sync, but allows upload to or download from Revel) See the link below for more details. I just purchased a new computer with Windows 7. My son backed up my photoshop elements 4.0 information and transferred it on the computer. Well the pictures are all there, but the tags are gone, we did get a not compatable screen when doing the transfer. Not a big deal, I can work around that. My question is....I am wanting to get photoshop 8.0 because Adobe support informed me that is what I have to get to go on Windows 7. I was told that photoshop 7.0 would not work. Well I have read so many horror stories about 8.0 now I am scared to death to purchase it and try it out. Can I get my photoshop 4.0 catalog to transfer okay upon installation of 8.0? I am not very computer savvy. I have my son do all the technical stuff, I have not touched my pictures other than in the organizer for 4.0 since the transfer anticipating the purchase of 8.0, would like input as to whether 8.0 is just one big problem, or a good piece of software. THanks for your help. I am getting almost dizzy reading all the information out there. Waiting in WV for photoshop.
PSE8 works fine on Windows 7 and Windows 7 64 bit.
However you need to pay attention to the dialog when importing tags.
It is safest to write metadata to file in earlier versions of PSE before transferring your catalog and to ensure compatibility with the OS. -
I am getting the msg "data corrupted" from windows installer, attempting to install photoshop elements 12. have wiped drive of file and redownloaded but get same results. have run regedit and removed Photoshop elements 12 also with no luck. Went back and installed photoshop elements 10 and prerimer and installed good, I have also installed prerimer elements 12 and the install was ok. I also ran trial version of photoshop 13 without any issues. I am at a lost to what is causing this issue. Any suggestions please.

Hi, I got my Mac in 2009 with photoshop elements on it - it's recently been wiped, however before the process we put Photoshop onto a hard drive, we then copied it back over and it no longer works, I'm getting error code 150:30 and I'm being asked for a password... any ideas how to get it working again?
You can never, never migrate an installed copy of PSE. It's just too complex and you can't get to all the bits and bobs.
First you will have to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is necessary to break the links within PSE so that you can pitch the bits manually. Then you will have to go around, not only to applications, but also to your username>library>preferences and most importantly to the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe, and remove everything you can find. Spotlight will not help with this kind of search, so don't try that.
Then you can install PSE from scratch. -

How do I save a photo exported from iPhoto and edited in Photoshop Elements 6 back to iPhoto?
My photos are downloaded to my iMac iPhoto 09. I am able to export directly to Photoshop Elements '06 to edit but when I try to export the edited photo back to iPhoto it goes to Pictures, not to iPhoto where I want it to go. Any suggestions?
Did you really export it or did you set PSE as your external editor? If you used file>export in iphoto, then you must import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new file.
To avoid that you can set PSE as your external editor in the iphoto preferences, and iphoto will remember your last saved edits + original, but you must not change the name or format of the image when saving. If you see the save as window it won't work. You may need to go to the PSE preferences>saving files and set On First Save to save over existing to avoid seeing the save as window. It will not work with raw files. -

You have a heap of work to do before you can reinstall it. NEVER try to get rid of PSE by putting it in the trash. You must use the uninstaller. By attempting to trash it you just made a big old mess for yourself.
You will need to download and run this:

Then go through your hard drive and manually dig out and trash all the bits you can find. Pay special attention to the library at the top of your hard drive>Application Support>Adobe.
Once you successfully get that cleaned up, you can try reinstalling.

The following may help you understand about deleting photos from a library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

Ok, so I just bought Adobe Photoshop elements 12 from Best Buy a month ago, and I want to download it onto my computer now. So I inserted the CD and everything, and through the process, the box popped up telling me to insert my serial number. After looking up what that was- and being told it was on the sticker on the back on the CD box- I entered it, and it keeps telling me it's invalid. It's a 8 number, so is it a redemtion code? If so, where do I redeem it?
The serial number should 24 numbers divided into sets of 4 (I think). It should be located on the CD cover. I don't think a redemption code is involved if you buy the CD, but just in case here's some links to cover either case...
