Back up iphone to air port utility

Is it possible to back up iphone 5s ios 8.1.2 to be backed up on air port time capsule, if yes how?

Is it possible to back up iphone 5s ios 8.1.2 to be backed up on air port time capsule
Not exactly, since iOS devices back up to either iTunes on your computer or to iCloud....depending on how you have things set up.
If the iPhone backs up to iTunes.....AND.....you have Time Machine set up to backup your Mac to the Time Capsule, then the iPhone backup data in iTunes is backed up to the Time Capsule.  So, you could say that an iPhone.....or any other iOS device.....can back up indirectly to the Time Capsule.
If you are asking if the iPhone can back up directly to the Time Capsule.....the answer would be no.
For more information on iOS backups, please see this Apple support document for all the details:

Since I've upgraded to Maverick on my Macbook Pro the airpot utility does not recognise that there is a time capsule on the wireless network. I can see the TC using the air port utility on my iPhone5 and on my iPad. What am I doing wrong on my macbook?

I have over 250G backed up and I really don't want to reset everything and start again.
Not sure what you mean here.
A reset will not affect any of the data on the Time Capsule hard drive.  You would have to perform a completely separate and very deliberate Erase Disk operation for that to occur.
I'm not recommending that you perform a default reset, but it is an option if there is really nothing else to try.
I don't know if what you are seeing is a Mavericks issue or not, since I refuse to use any new software until at least the first major update with fixes comes along.
Another user may be able to offer more input on Mavericks.

Base station error, air port utility was unable to find my airport device. Why does it say this when it recognizes my airport on the computer? Yellow light has been on

On the older version of the AE you can still use older airport utility.
But once you load the new one you cannot easily go back.. you can load an older 5.6 version though.. instructions below.
For 6.3 you need to run ipv6 local link.
    see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.

Can I get the Air Port Utility for my windows based pc or my Galaxy S4?

Yes, for Windows. No, for the Galaxy.
Choose the version of AirPort Utility that matches the operating system on your PC.
AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows - Support - Apple   requires Windows 7
    AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Windows - Support - Apple   requires XP SP3, Vista SP2, or 7 SP1

  • How to turn on encryption in air port utility

how to turn on encrytion in air port utility for air port extreme.the instruction say to go to airport utility to turn it on but I can't see how.

To enable wireless encryption using version 6.x of the AirPort Utility, just do the following:
AirPort Utility > Select the base station > Edit > Wireless tab > Wireless Security > Select the security type; I would recommend WPA2 Personal, and then, enter the desired password in both the Wireless Password & Verify Password boxes.

  • I am trying to get my new Time Capsule to be recognized on my Air Port Utility on an Imac.

I am trying to get my new Time Capsule to be recognized on my Air Port Utility on an Imac.

It has to flash rapidly .. not the normal flashing which is slow.
Are you holding in reset and actually feeling it switch on.. and keep holding it until the LED goes crazy and flashes really fast.
If that is not working your TC is faulty.. I suggest you take it to Apple for testing.

  • HT4522 Sounds fine but how do I add partitions in air port utility

Sounds fine but how do I add partitions in air port utility

It is possible to partition the drive, but you have to physically pull the hard drive from the Time Capsule and place it in a separate enclosure for the formatting operation, then reinstall the drive again back in the Time Capsule.
Unfortunately, in addition to a lot of work, this will void the warranty on the Time Capsule.
It is possible to create one or more disk images on the Time Capsule using Disk Utility.
While a disk image is not technically a "partition" in the normal sense, it will allow you to specify and reserve a given amount of space on the drive for the image or images that you create.

  • Using modem Sagem f@st 3464 (Scarlet One : vdsl   tv   VoIP   wi-fi) : impossible to create a new Wi-Fi network (2.4 or 5 GHz) ? Conflict with DHCP / NAT and so on. No answer from the Apple help desk, Air Port Utility 6.1 unusable (configuration = Win 7)

    Good afternoon,
My internet connection is delivered by a modem Sagem f@st 3464 (Scarlet One : vdsl   tv   VoIP   wi-fi), it's almost the same than a BBox-2 from Belgacom (software and configuration).
This modem has 4 ethernet port, 2 for TV, 2 for LAN, the WAN port is RJ-11 and the connection is a PPPoE (in fact, it's the Belgacom network). I also got a Wi-Fi 802.11g on it.
The main raison why I bought a TC is the dual Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (for 802.11n), especially for my MacBook Pro and my iPad 3.
First of all, can I do the following with my TC :
    1) connecting the TC using a ethernet cable from one of the two modem's LAN ports to the TC's WAN port
    2) create a new Wi-Fi network using the TC ?
Up to now, after 2 man days of configuration, my TC is connected to my existing LAN network, as a bridge, but there is no new Wi-Fi network.
The Airport Utility 6.1 "Wizard" is just un-usable and I need to use a Win 7 laptop in order to get access to all the configuration !
The standard manual is very poor.
Does someone already create a new Wi-Fi network using its TC connected by Ethernet on a modem/router device ? How do you set up the DHCP (and NAT) ? Which range did you use ?
    Sincerely yours,
    AVDB

This is easy enough to do..
Plug the TC directly into a computer.. without other connections to do the setup.
Using the newly installed 5.6 utility.
    Bridge the TC.
    Create a wireless network.
This is an older screen shot and I would set security to WPA2 Personal only not WPA/WPA2 Personal as shown above.
I do recommend you use wireless names that are short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
    Update the TC..
Now plug it into the modem router.. it will be a part of the network without doing NAT and DHCP itself.. which you do not want.. that leads to double NAT issues.. but it is a WAP that provides access to devices on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands directly to the main router.

  • I have an older airport express and my computer states that the air port utility version does not support it.  Do I need to download an update?  My Imac is from SEP of last year, the version with the optical drive

I have an older airport express.  My airport utilities states that it does not support this base station.  I am try ing to use the airport express in conjunction with a base station to air play my itunes library in another room.  I have mountain lion on my Imac (purchased new in SEP of last year.  My Imac was the last issued with an internal dvd drive.

Unfortunately, Apple discontinued support of the older AirPort base stations with the introduction of Lion and Mountain Lion.
You might be able to use a somewhat complicated workaround.....not supported by Apple.....if you want to try to use the older AirPort Express.

  • What is the password when you first turn on the AP Extreme and view it in the Air Port utility?

I have just purchased an Airport Extreme. When I plug in the Extreme and go to the Airport Utility it prompts me for a password. What is this password? Is is located on the box or within the material within the box in came in?

If the AirPort Extreme is new, with factory default settings, the only thing that you will see is a globe when you open AirPort Utlity.
Click on the Other WiFi Devices button, then click on AirPort Extreme xxxxxxx to start the setup utility for the AirPort Extreme and follow the prompts.
Although you should not need it at this point, the factory default password is
    public
If you are asked for a password and this does not work, then it is very likely that the AirPort Extreme has already been set up with another password.

  • Air Port Utility

Where is the airport utility to manage the airport extreme?

If you own a Mac it is in the Utilities folder. If the version you have is v6.0 you may want to download v5.6 to gain more configuration options.

If you have a Windows computer you can download a Windows version using the link below.

  • Time capsule and air port utility

so i have set up my time capsule. successfully. my macair recognizes it. however, when i go to time machine and turn it on, the drop window comes down and my t.c. is not there. it needs to be in the drop box for me to select it to use as backup, correct? when on the phone with tech support, it asked me to check what version of airport utility. i have 5.2.2 according to them, time capsule can only work with 5.3. i have checked for updates and there are none at this time.
this is my first mac. any help would be appreciated

Yeah, you're hosed. I have the same problem. Apple is being inconsistent in their recent product releases - they pitch a CD-less laptop and in the next breath sell you a wireless backup box that requires your laptop to install software that they ONLY distribute on CDs. You will need to buy or borrow an external USB CD drive.

  • Airport Extreme works normal, but the harddrive share no function, nothing found at the Air-port Utility / Disk / partition. Any suggestion?

Can't have share drive function.  Anyone can help?

Most likely if the AirPort Utility does not recognize the hard drive, it may be the drive's format that may be the issue. Per chance is it formatted in either NTFS or ExFAT? If so, the AirPort's file server function does not support either of these formats. The drive would need to be formatted in either HFS+ or FAT32.
