Back up not working and locking up computer

I keep getting a message that the Time Machine is not working to reformat as soon as possible. No icons work or the menu bar. Fire fox and I photo disapeared. I am using SimpleTech for a back device. My nephew also played games on the Internet the night before. Could it be a virus?

It's not a virus as there are none (as in zero, they don't exist, nada) for OS X. However it could be a number of things. Take a look at the Time Machine Troubleshooting article to locate where your issue may be. You also may find the Time Machine FAQs useful.

i have a Macbook pro dated from September 2014 and an iPhone 6 plus. When the phone rings, the Mac gives me the option to take the call on the Mac. The problem is that when I click accept on the Mac, it only works 1 time out of 10 and when it doesn't , both devices lock up and its impossible to take the call from the phone or the Mac. After a while the Mac says call failed as the iPhone is still rigging but won't respond to any touch input. Any idea on how to fix this ?
i run iOS 8.1.1 and os x Yosemite.

Latest update does not work and corrupted my computer

The latest update caused all my applications to stop operating. Whenever I try to open any application, I get the message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action." In addition, all program shortcut icons on my desktop look like they are PDF files.
When I uninstall the reader program, my computer returns to normal.
Is there a fix or do I stop reading PDF files?

If you didn't back up the phone to iCloud or iTunes (on your computer) BEFORE attempting the update, the data will be lost.

iPhones are sold in carrier-locked and unlocked versions. If the phone has a carrier lock on it, you must contact the carrier to have it removed (you probably need to bring the phone to the carrier for the process). If you don't know the carrier, you won't be able to get it unlocked. US carriers will not remove the carrier lock and it cannot be removed.
How is Safari behaving that makes you say that Safari is not working? The lock status of the phone won't affect Safari, except that if the phone is locked and you aren't using the carrier (and SIM provided by the carrier) to which it is locked, then you can't use the phone or 3G service, only Wi-Fi.
The iPhone should not appear as a drive on your computer, so there's no error there.

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to rest the passcode during this process:

It is not always possible to return a jailbroken phone to a pristine state. Jailbroken devices can NOT be discussed here per the terms of service. As for unlocking. It was previously hacked and has re-locked to the original carreir. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Find out who that is and contact them or do as steve359 advised above and try to return it for your money back.

Given the information supplied, it sounds very similar to what happened to my wife's 4. Locked up...came back on with a blank (bluish) screen...could here emails and text coming through. It would get very hot as well. Our local apple store tried two times to rescue it, ultimately rendering it complete inoperable. I'm sorry to say in our case we had to buy a refurb and trade in the phone for $150, which actually wasn't a bad deal.
There could be other information I'm missing, but I would start with seeing if apple can restore your phone. If they can't, then I'm pretty sure it's dead.

- After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod? If yes, restore the iPod from backup.

Yes, when she plugs it in to another person's mac, tell it transfer purchases, then authorize the computer by going to store, and click authroize computer. If the iPod is in recovery mode
Then I don't think she can have her music apps etc. on there after she plugs it into the computer. If it just needs a charge
When iTunes opens on the computer, quit it, and do not let the iPod sync with the computer, just answer no or ignore to any questions asking if you want to sync.
