Back up Photoshop Elements 11

I have purchased a boxed retail version of Photoshop Elements 11 last year, in 2012 and recently I thought to back up the disks that came in the box, but whenever I start the copying process, after about 50% is done, the copy dialog box pops up with a message that the disk is write-protected and can't be copied. I know that Adobe made the disks write-protected for reasons against software piracy, but I would like to know how to backup the disks on my computer If I ever lose them or for some other reason.

One way you could do it is by downloading the trial and saving, not running the files. The trial is the same as the purchased version once you enter your serial number.

  • How far back is PhotoShop Elements upgradable?

My friend says he received a copy of Adobe PhotoShop Elements which was bundled in with his Epson Perfection 1650 scanner than he bought in 2002. He says he never installed it, as he thought it was full blown Photoshop which he knew was too complicated for his use.
He has been using Picasa as his digital editing software up until now. I knew that it couldn't be Photoshop that was bundled and have googled and confirmed that it was Elements. He is considering buying a DSLR and I am sure PS Elements will be a better fit for him, especially if he gets in to shooting RAW.
Will he be able to install this program and then pay for an upgrade? Or are the versions of PSE bundled with scanners and un-upgradable version?

My friend will be purchasing a Canon 40D which I think comes with Canon software rather than PSE. He has seen what results I get with RAW and probably will use ACR rather than DPP (if he listens to me).
As a member of NAPP I can get a one-time discount on Adobe products. Maybe he'll join NAPP as well and get a discounted PSE upgrade and then a CS4 upgrade at the same time.
Sorry but I didn't understand what you meant by "look around for the best price on the current version, even if it doesn't include an upgrade coupon". Did you mean look for current PSE sales other than Adobe Store? Would they be cheaper elsewhere?
    Thanks for all help!

  • How do I place only the Photoshop Elements dialog box on my dock?

I am using Photoshop Elemetns 9 on an imac running the Lion operating system.  I want to have only the welcome diaolg box on my dock so I have the option of opening the editor, or the organizer, or having access to my photos stored with Adobe.  At the present time my dock has a single PSE icon.  When I click on this icon the Welcome dialog box is
bypassed and the editor is opened.  I am using iphoto to organize my 5000+ pictures and Photoshop Elements 9 for more advanced editing.  But I will probably be moving all my photos to the Photoshop Elements Organizer as soon as I organize the photos in iphoto Events.  This is because there are too many steps required to move edited photos back from
Photoshop Elements 9 to iphoto.  Now I have to move these photos onto my desktop before I can get them back into iphoto.  Can anyone help me with these two BIG PROBLEMS?  A direct response to my e-mail would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Click the little house at the end of the menu bar in either editor or organizer to bring up the welcome screen and then click hold the welcome screen's dock icon and choose Keep in Dock.
However, it sounds like you aren't using PSE and iphoto in the most efficient way. See this for more about your options:

  • Convert Catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album to Photoshop Elements 13

    Hello Community!
I've searched for this question in Google, but I didn't find an answer that helped me.
The old computer from my client with Windows XP OS is getting replaced by a new one with Windows 7.
There was Adobe Photoshop Album on the old one which isn't supported anymore. My client had over 15'000 pictures on his old PC which I've already copied on the new computer. Now he wants his albums, tags and these things from Adobe Photoshop Album back, so I decided to install Photoshop Elements 13 because of the Elements Organizer tool.
Now I've seen answers in forums that sayed that all these informations are saved in the "My Albums.psa" Catalog file, which I've already found on the old computer and copied on the new one. Some people sayed it would work with the "convert" option in PSE, but this doesn't work for me, because PSE doesn't see the .psa file. So I tried to convert my .psa file with this Tool, but in the middle of the progress it says that it failed and that I should try to repair the file in PSE. I'm now stuck here, with several different solutions, and yet I don't know what to do now.
I've read something about the folder structure and that the pictures and folders have to be on the harddisk when trying to convert the .psa file. All pictures are on the new computer, but of course the folders aren't the same on the new OS.
It would be glad if I find a solution as soon as possible from someone in the community.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Finally I could solve the problem.
I tried to import the Backup.tly in Photoshop Elements, but without success. Even there an Error appeared. The conversion tool also still got this failure at a progress of 15% conversion... So I searched a reason for the failure in google and found this helpful article from Adobe. It says that you should look for the corrupt images in the log file. So did I, and I found the error causing picture on the old computer and deleted it. After that I opened Photoshop Album, clicked on "File > Reconnect all missing files" and deleted this picture from the catalog.
Now I didn't want to make the backup again, because the last nearly had 1h. So I decided to try it again by just copying the catalog.psa from the old computer to the new one and to convert it again with the conversion tool. The error came again, but at a progress of 22% So i had to do this a few times: Searching the corrupt image in the log file, deleting it on the old computer, deleting the missing file in Photoshop Album and converting it. And finally, it worked, no error after conversion! I let photoshop elements 13 open the new .pse13 file. Now, all tags and albums were back on Photoshop Elements. Eventually, I let the programm searching the new paths of all the images. It takes a time but it works great now. Thanks for your help, I would recommend the Adobe Community & support!

  • Is there a trial for adobe photoshop elements 7?

I bought adobe photoshop elements 7 some years ago, I have the case with the serial number, but have lost the disk! need a trial or download of this version please!

Adobe does not provide download links to previous versions of most of their software.
The affiliate site prodesigntools.com usually does but it only goes back to Photoshop Elements 8.
I don't know of any links to Photoshop Elements 7.

Hi, I got my Mac in 2009 with photoshop elements on it - it's recently been wiped, however before the process we put Photoshop onto a hard drive, we then copied it back over and it no longer works, I'm getting error code 150:30 and I'm being asked for a password... any ideas how to get it working again?

You can never, never migrate an installed copy of PSE. It's just too complex and you can't get to all the bits and bobs.
First you will have to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is necessary to break the links within PSE so that you can pitch the bits manually. Then you will have to go around, not only to applications, but also to your username>library>preferences and most importantly to the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe, and remove everything you can find. Spotlight will not help with this kind of search, so don't try that.
Then you can install PSE from scratch.

Mseixas you can try running the CC Cleaner Tool located at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and then reinstalling.

  • How do I save a photo exported from iPhoto and edited in Photoshop Elements 6 back to iPhoto?

My photos are downloaded to my iMac iPhoto 09.  I am able to export directly to Photoshop Elements '06 to edit but when I try to export the edited photo back to iPhoto it goes to Pictures, not to iPhoto where I want it to go.  Any suggestions?

Did you really export it or did you set PSE as your external editor? If you used file>export in iphoto, then you must import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new file.
To avoid that you can set PSE as your external editor in the iphoto preferences, and iphoto will remember your last saved edits + original, but you must not change the name or format of the image when saving. If you see the save as window it won't work. You may need to go to the PSE preferences>saving files and set On First Save to save over existing to avoid seeing the save as window. It will not work with raw files.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 has ended up in my thrash and now will not open i transferred it back to

Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 has ended up in my thrash and now will not open i transferred it back to applications but it will not open it says to re-install but I have lost the cd/dvd I do have the package with the serial no. can you please please help me

You have a heap of work to do before you can reinstall it. NEVER try to get rid of PSE by putting it in the trash. You must use the uninstaller. By attempting to trash it you just made a big old mess for yourself.
You will need to download and run this:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
Then go through your hard drive and manually dig out and trash all the bits you can find. Pay special attention to the library at the top of your hard drive>Application Support>Adobe.
Once you successfully get that cleaned up, you can try reinstalling.
You can download PSE 11 here, but you must follow the Very Important Instructions exactly, even when they don't seem to make much sense, or it won't work:

Adobe photoshop elements 10 on MacBook Pro changed from English to German unexpectedly  How do I get English back?

The following may help you understand about deleting photos from a library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • Just got adobe photoshop elements 12, and it tells me my serial number is invalid. I never got an email telling me I need to redeem it, and the sticker on the back on the CD box is supposed to be the serial code right?

Ok, so I just bought Adobe Photoshop elements 12 from Best Buy a month ago, and I want to download it onto my computer now. So I inserted the CD and everything, and through the process, the box popped up telling me to insert my serial number. After looking up what that was- and being told it was on the sticker on the back on the CD box- I entered it, and it keeps telling me it's invalid. It's a 8 number, so is it a redemtion code? If so, where do I redeem it?

The serial number should 24 numbers divided into sets of 4 (I think).  It should be located on the CD cover.  I don't think a redemption code is involved if you buy the CD, but just in case here's some links to cover either case...
