Back up & Restore PC HELP!!
Okay, I have the iPhone 3GS on my Windows XP but it's dying (had it for a 3-4 years). I just purchased a new Dell with Vista. I have it up with itunes and ready to go BUT how can I sync my iphone with all the applications that have data in there on to the new computer?? I tried it once and fubar it to the point where I put it back on my old pc.
I tried that. My songs went over fine but not all my applications or the data that I had on them.

Lost texts when trying to back up/restore - please help

I recently downloaded BB Desktop Software for Mac, and backed up everything onto my Mac. However, it won't let me open the back up files and comes up with the message "The document “BlackBerry Bold 9700 (2012-04-26) - PreUpdate.bbb” could not be opened. BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot open files of this type." I tried restoring my text messages to my phone but it won't work and instead deleted nearly all of the messages on my phone When I click restore and look at the available files it says there are over 6000 SMS messages, but I can't access them... it would mean a lot to me to get my texts back, is anyone able to help?

AlexDoes it say anything else, like the backup is corrupted? If so then delete the backup in iTunes Preferences/Devices.
There have been reports that some apps prevent backup from working. izip is the usual culprit.
Are you connecting to a USB port directly on your computer, and not to a hub? Using a hub can also prevent the backup from completing because the USB connection isn't as reliable through a hub. -
I accidently unplugged my iphone thinking it had finished backing up, i lost everything and had to restore. Everything came back except my music. I have tried to put it back but cannot get it to sync back hope someone can help!

With your device connected to the computer, click on the Music tab, and uncheck the Sync Music box and sync. Then go back in and reselect the Sync Music box (and any other filters you want), and re-sync. See if that will download your music.

When you restore from a Time Machine back up you can pick and chose what is restored. It is not an all or nothing process. Nor do you have to do the partial restores all at the same time. If days after the first partial restore you find something else you want you can restore just that.

If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPod.
Take special note of the article about using recovery mode. Many times, that is the only way to bypass the pass code and restore the device.

Pls i was trying to update my iphone 3G to software version 4.2 using itune. The process did not complete succesfully. I then decided to restore back my restore my prevoius version 4.1, it stopped with an error code1015. Pls i need help
Go here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750 and download iOS 4.2.1 for the iPhone 3G. Perform a restore, but hold down ALT when clicking restore. Restore from this file you just downloaded. You should not get 1015 as you are upgrading, but if you get a different error, report back.

It will be backed up on your computer and can later be restored to an iOS device using iTunes, if desired. Of course, if your hard drive crashes you'll lose it if it isn't backed up somewhere else. If you want to included it in your computer backup, it will be located at one of the following locations:

Windows XP: %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Windows Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

The game you mentioned does not save online. If you have made a backup using "iCloud" or "iTunes backup" then you may be able to restore to that last save point on your device which will include whatever you had for currency at the time when the save was created.
Unfortunately, we do not have a way to restore game progress, this is done by the user on the device itself using the backup and restore method for the entire device.

Used to have ios 7 betaon my i phone and downgraded to ios 6 so i can upgrade to the official ios 7 but i lost my pc back ups. Please help me
First off, Apple doesn't support downgrading and it can potentially brick your phone. With that being said, if you created a back up in iOS 7 Beta and are trying to restore it to iOS6, you wont be able to. You need to upgrade first then restore from your backup. Don't be suprised if it doesn't work. There is a very real possibilty you may have to start from scratch.

Recovering new photos deleted during back up restore
So I have a problem, and it's someone elses phone.
I done a back up on the phone in September as my friend was sending her iPhone 4 to be updated, there was a software issue.
We only got round to getting together to put the back up back on the phone now and she had since taken photos etc. I dont the back up restore and now all the photos, text messages and whatever else that took place since the back up have dissappeared! Please help!Maybe here. It is not cheap.

Hi everyone
I am a new user of iphone 4...i've accidentally deleted the app store from the iphone...pls tell me how to retrieve it back...pls help...tqTo restore the missing App Store Icon, or other original Apple Icons on the iPhone, go to Settings / General / Reset (Don't worry, you will be presented with a number of options concerning resetting before anything happens. The iPhone will NOT reset just by selecting this option).
Choose "Reset Home Screen Layout". This will restore the App Store Icon as well as other Apple Icons you may have removed or placed into folders.
Please note. This also removes any folders you have set up and rearranges all of the apps you have, so it takes awhile to put everything back where it was.
Unfortunately, I did not capture the placement of my Icons, so I had to recreate from memory...not that big a deal. If you elect to follow this procedure, make a note of where all of your icons are placed and then proceed.
I followed links that talked about restoring through iTunes...never could make anything like that work. This is a quick and simple fix.
