Back up restore question

I am trying to restore an aperture library on my MacBook Pro that I have backed up with Backblaze. I received the restored file in my email. I downloaded the restored file and it unzipped as it was loaded. I then clicked on the restored file and aperture asked if I wanted to "rebuild the library." I said "ok." The new library was built but now I can only see black boxes. No pictures are showing. I can tell that the pictures are there somewhere, as they have the number of pictures that are inside each project down in the bottom of the box, but I CAN NOT figure out how to get the actual thumbnails restored. I know it has something to do with getting the "complete package" to load into Aperture, but I can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas?

You're first step should be to contact Backblaze and ask if and how they handle Aperture libraries. The reason suggest this is that there are a number of other online backup services that have problems backing up Aperture libraries.
The Aperture library appears as a single file but is in fact a package of many files and subfolders. If the backup software isn;t aware of this there can be problems when it goes to backup up the library.
The next thing to do is to locate the Aperture library in the Finder, right click on it and select Show package contents. It should look similar to
In Aperture you if you select the Photos icon in the Library pane of the Inspector, what do you see? If you select one of the images (or outlines) what happens? Have you tried regenerating the previews and/or thumbnails?\\
But the important first step is to find out if Backblaze handles Aperture libraries.

Huge colossal Back-up/restoration question!!

I have a huge question regarding a major emergency I'm experiencing now. I accidentally deleted my iTunes library on my computer. Almost all my music is backed up on my iPod, but the problem is, iTunes was set to where it automatically updates my iPod when it gets connected. I need to know how to definitely disable this, because I can't risk losing all the music on there (5000 songs, 200+ songs from iTMS). I know of programs like Senuti that will let me copy it to my computer, but I need to know that this is disabled before I do that. Anyone who can help, I appreciate it.

OS5, Calendar will not sync and back-up/restore question

Wife downloaded iTunes 10.5 for the MBP and OS5 for the iPad yesterday. Everything seems ok with the exception of, the Calendar will not sync to iCal. I now have 2 issues.
I attempted to sync it twice so I am assuming the data on the back-up is now what I could not get to iCal in the first place. The back-up now only shows the last one.
I do not use Time Machine nor Mobile Me but do have a cloned bootable hd from the day before. It has all of the iCal data on it, however OS5 now requires iTunes 10.5, so it does not recognize the iPad.
Can I go backwards to OS4 on the iPad somehow???

going to "transfer purchases' does work - however the thermometer bar at the bottom reflecting apps, music, video, book, etc cpapcity fraks out, sliding left to right maybe 4 or 5 times during the process. Have you ever seen this?
After it is finished, the SYNC button is not longer darkened - so I thought it was safe to attampt an upgrade to OS05... which i am doing now... takes maybe 20 mins and then I normally get the error "the applications on this ipad cannot be verified" and the bottom thermometer bar zeros out all by my music. The content and apps are all fine on teh ipad. so strange. I made an appointment with customer service tomrrow AM - but i do not think i should have to pay for this - i have never even used support before!
I will update if it works - or re[eats the strange pattern again and does not update.

The wish list only works on apps you have to pay for. To get it tap the icon of the app you want to save. After it opens at the upper right corner is a box with a arrow. Tap that then tap add to wish list list in the box that opens.

We have two iphones each with a different apple id - can i use the same laptop and itunes for back up, restore and updates without risking having my apps overwritten. Basically does itunes keep the two iphones as two separate entities ? Does iTunes differentiate between the two devices and keep two different SYNCs ?

Yes, you can use the same computer for BACK UPS, RESTORING AND UPDATING. But that is it.
You cannot, however, use it to sync the different devices. iTunes will only recognize one device to sync with and if you sync any other devices with that iTunes library, it will replace what is on the phone with whatever is in the library. It cannot differentiate between devices. At most, it will jsut recognize that the phone has been synced with a different iTunes library.
So if you would like to use the same computer for backing up, restoring and updating, just make sure to turn of Automatic Syncing in your iTunes Preferences.

Setup your new phone, then update to iOS 8.1.3. Once done: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings". At the setup screen you'll now be able to select your old phone's backup.

That usually means that there is something wrong with the backup and it cannot be used. You can try restoring the backup again, but if you continue to get the same message all you can do is restore to a different backup, if you have one.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

I backed up my sons Iphone 4 and tried to get it to Icloud with no luck, I figured it backed up to his itunes, I connected to itunes and logged him in under his account. I thought it was his back up but it was mine . How can I get his 2.4 gig back that is on his phone to restore his phone. can I do it right from the phone . ON both devices go to settings - message - send&receive - uncheck or remove the appl id.
In the same settings - start a new conversation - remove or uncheck the apple id.

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again. If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

Go here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750 and download iOS 4.2.1 for the iPhone 3G. Perform a restore, but hold down ALT when clicking restore. Restore from this file you just downloaded. You should not get 1015 as you are upgrading, but if you get a different error, report back.
