Backbeat 903 Bluetooth Headphones and iOS4

I have a pair of Backbeat 903 headphones (originally from Altec Lansing, now Plantronics) that I love, and they've worked great with my iPhone 3Gs for 6 months.
I just upgraded to iOS4 on the iPhone, and I found that the Play/Pause toggle button on the headphones no longer works correctly. If the music is already paused, it does nothing. If the music is playing, the button makes the audio cut out for a few seconds while the track keeps playing, then the audio comes back in after a few seconds.
I wondered if something had happened to the Backbeat's button, so I looked into exchanging it under warranty. Before sending it, though, I purchased a new pair. I just got the new pair and they are doing the same thing, which means this is probably an iPhone software issue or Bluetooth issue.
Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

I'm relieved -- I thought I had done a reset before, but I guess I didn't follow all the way through.
My bluetooth issue was fixed by holding down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time, waiting through the power down screen, blackout, and finally the silver Apple logo.
When I repaired with the bluetooth headphones, the play/pause toggle switch worked as expected.

  • Toshiba Bluetooth Headphones and Tiger?

I'm well aware that the product is meant for a PC, but has anyone successfully, or knows of any way, to use the Toshiba bluetooth headphones with a Mac? I can pair them using the D-Link DBT-120 adapter (pre-firmware updater as an "other" device, post-firmware updater, as a headset) and I also have a Targus Bluetooth 1.2 USB adapter that I can pair with the headset. In Bluetooth preferences it is listed as an audio type, but it never shows up in the Sound preferences.

I am also wondering about using bluetooth headphones to listen to audio from my iBook. I just bought a pair of Combi AP11 bluetooth headphones. I know they come with an adapter for the iPod mini, but I am wondering if anyone has been able to get a pair of bluetooth heaphone running through OSX?

  • Bluetooth headphones and the (Intel) iMac

I want to buy a set of Bluetooth wireless headphones to use with my iMac (Intel) which is running OS X Lion as well as with my iPod Touch and iPad. The iMac supports Apple's wireless Bluetooth keyboard and Trackpad. Will it also support Bluetooth headphones?
    Any recommendations for those headphones?
    Many thanks!

  • Bluetooth Headphones and iPad/Apple TV; audio-video split

Apparently Apple TV can't output to Bluetooth headphones?
Is it possible to say; play a YouTube Vid on iPad; where the video is Airstreamed to Apple TV; but the audio output goes from the iPad to a set of Bluetooth Headphones; instead of to the TV? Bluetooth headphones work fine with an iPad.

Probably software - it would actually be a great enhancement for many people.

  • Bluetooth headphones and Nike Plus system at same time?

I have been using the Nike Plus system with my nano for a while now, but would like to use wireless headphones while running. Is there a bluetooth adapter that will allow for the Nike Plus receiver to be plugged in simultaneously? Or is there some kind of splitter available?

Yeah I do it. I use a Jabra bluetooth adaptor that uses the headphone port. Then I tuck the luetooth unit under my Marware Relay wristband.

  • Playtronics Backbeat 903 Headphones Did Control Iphone 3GS, But Quit. Why?

I bought a pair of Playtronics Backbeat 903 Bluetooth headphones that support the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. that the Iphone 3gS that I own are also suppose to support and I believe they do. Now just recently the phone will not allow the headphones to control it (pause, skip to next song, etc). I have reset the headphones, I have unpaired and re-paired the headphones with the phone, I have removed any other bluetooth pairing profiles from the phone, still no luck. Anyone have any idea how I get the phone or headphones to recognize the AVRCP profile so I can use the headphones as designed.
As I said, when I first got the headphones all of these controls worked, now they do not. Thanks in advance.

Yes, your iPhone has the classic signs of early onset Alzheimer's...
Assuming that nothing is pressing on the Home button when this occurs, try the basic steps as needed:
    1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
    3. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup.
If #3 doesn't help, there is a hardware problem such as a defective home button, and you should make an appt. with an Apple Store Genius bar.

    Hi zimmetp,
If I understand correctly you have paired a Bluetooth headphone to your notebook and it works fine. The problem arises when you go back to your regular notebook speakers and/or headphones and the sound doesn't work.
Are you turning off the Bluetooth when you try to go back to regular sound? If the computer still sees a connection to the Bluetooth headphones and they are set to default then it will continue to use those and not the regular ones.

  • Pairing backbeat 903 problem

    Hi,
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, but I could really use some help here because I'm going crazy.
I just picked up a new pair of Plantronic Backbeat 903 bluetooth wireless headphones for my iPhone 3GS and I cannot for the life me get them to pair up.
I followed the instructions which were to charge the headphones for 3 hours before the first use. Then I had to turn on my 'Bluetooth' function on my iPhone an then with the headphones turned off I was too press the power/pairing button and supposedly the LED light would bink blue & red and the phone should recognise the device.
However, whilst charging the headphones the LED light was blue which I believe was indicating that it was charging or had charged but when I unpluged the headphones the blue LED light went off.
Now that I have my Bluetooth turnd on and under 'Devices' it is continually "searching" even after I follow the headphone instructions which are to hold the power/pairing button which should only be for 10 seconds before the Bluetooth recognises the device.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a faulty headset? Is there any other way to pair the iPhone and headphones?
    TIA for any help

Thanks bongzki_02for your reply. I am not tech-savvy and I do not know what is A2DP, yet I found it on plantronics specs page (attached beneath).

  • Need help pairing Jarv Nmotion BTHL-201 bluetooth headphones

    Hello...
I just received my Jarv Nmotion BTHL-201 bluetooth headphones and my iPhone 4s (I have not done the most recent IOS update) and the phone is not finding the  bluetooth headphones.
I followed the directions -  completely charged the headphones and then tried to pair.  My phone just keeps searching but never finds the headphones.
Any suggestions? ( I have tried it several times. Turned the phone off completely, then powered it back and tried again - all to no avail).
    Thanks.

Never mind!!  Pilot error. Came to my senses - it works!  Great set of headphones

  • Bluetooth headphones sound terrible

I just purchased a pair of Philips SHB7000 bluetooth headphones and they sound absolutely terrible when paired with my Lenovo Yoga 10 tablet. Worse than an AM radio. But when I use these headphones with my PC or my Galaxy tab or my HTC One phone (all via bluetooth), it sounds great. When I try other bluetooth headphones with my Lenovo Yoga, they sound fine as well. It is this particular combination of this headphone with this tablet that it is unlistenable. Ironically, I bought these headphones specifically so I could watch videos and listen to music on the Lenovo Yoga, which is the one combination of device and headphones that does NOT work.
Any ideas why only this combo has a problem?  I asked Philips and they were completely unhelpful and pointed the finger at Lenovo.

I'm starting to think my next tablet is going to be from another manufacturer... :-(
Thanks for finding that older post.  That's really disappointing but sadly, not surprising.  I have to agree with you, my next tablet will definitely NOT be a Lenovo.  I've had a lot of problems with this tablet, this being the latest problem.  For example, I've found several apps that work with all my devices but not with the Lenovo.  Like I can't use it for Hangouts and Skype.  It also crashes a lot.  Often times I go to use it and it has shut itself off and I have to boot it.  And sometimes it won't charge because it starts draining faster than the charge, even when it is plugged into the outlet.  So this tablet is really quite useless and I'm looking for a replacement.
    Thanks for letting me vent...

  • ITunes refuses to use bluetooth headphone

At first, I didn't realize there is this forum, and posted the following in a forum which is less suitable than this one. So, I copy it here.
I'm bewildered. Consider these three items: The bluetooth setting of Mac OS (the bluetooth icon near the top right corner), a bluetooth headphone, and iTunes. In what order should I switch them on?
First of all, I use the same headphone (S305 of Motorola) with the iPhone 4 and the 6th-gen. iPod Nano without any problems. It doesn't seem to matter which is switched on first.
Now, on my iMac, I experience wierd things. For example,
    1) Switch on the headset.
    2) Bluetooth menu of iMac -> Turn on Bluetooth.
    3) Bluetooth menu of iMac -> S305 -> Use headphones.
After a while, my headset beeps and the Bluetooth
icon of the iMac turns to three dots. (Connection
    established.)
    4) Invoke iTunes. Then, the Bluetooth icon turns back
to the Bluetooth symbol, and music starts to flow
from the buildin speaker. Not from the headset!
    5) Quit iTunes.
    6) Bluetooth menu -> Turn off bluetooth.
    7) Do item (2).
    8) Do item (3).
    9) Do item (4). And then, there is an error pop-up
window, saying that the bluetooth audio failed,
    or somthing to the effect.
    10) Restart the iMac.
    11) Repeat from (1). Then, SOMETIMES, iTunes plays music
    through my headset!
I failed to see any "systematicness". It SOMETIMES works and SOMETIMES fails.
Is there any pattern here? What's the correct order to turn on various things? I ask this, because establishing a Bluetooth connection after starting iTunes SOMETIMES works!
Oh, and I'm sitting right in front of the iMac and the strength of the signal should be very good. When I do a test like the above, I turn off all other Bluetooth signals. (For example, if its Bluetooth is on, my iPhone 4 establishes a connection with my headset before my iMac does so.)

Are these tracks ones that iTunes played successfully before the update? If not, what format are the tracks (MP3, WAV, WMA, etc.)?

  • Bluetooth keybord and trackpad work separately, but not together

Hi Everyone, I just bought an apple wireless keyboard and magic trackpad.  The both connect to bluetooth and work fine, if used separately.  But if you connect both at the same time, the keyboard works, but the trackpad doesn't.  As soon as you disconnect the keyboard, the trackpad works great, until you try to reconnect the keyboard.  I've removed and added both several times, rebooted, etc, but no luck.  Any ideas?

I've tried that, but neither the smc or pram reset worked...  I know the keyboard and trackpad work (as they work on my mbp together) and the bluetooth seems to work ok (works with bluetooth headphones and either keyboard or trackpad), but I can't get the keyboard and trackpad to work together still...

  • MacBook Pro loses connection with Bluetooth Headphones

    Hi,
Every time I turn off my bluetooth headphones and then turn them back on, my mid-2009 MBP loses connection with them and forces me to re-pair them. It comes up with an error where the only option is "Stop using headphones" - does anyone know a solution to this?
    My headphone are Sony DR-BT101.

Same problem here... With Mac OS Lion. Any solution to this?

  • Bluetooth headphones playback issues with iOS 6

Has anyone been experiencing some playback issues with the latest iOS 6 and Bluetooth headphones?
A few weeks ago, I bought a pair of Sony's MDR-1RBT Bluetooth headphones and ever since I updated my iOS devices (4S & iPad 2), playback of tracks has been lagging for the first few seconds. Whenever I choose a song on my iPhone or iPad's player, I just can't hear its first 3~10 seconds. I've contacted Sony about this issue and they bluntly replied that it's Apple's issue, but when I contacted Apple, they referred me to their Bluetooth connectivity site. In other words, my problem still hasn't been solved.
Could anyone help me solve this frustrating issue?
    Thanks.
