Backed up iPod Now i lost 10GB on Mac! Help

Ok so i used a programme to take all the music off my iPod classic (because i just got an iPod Touch). Can not remember what i used... I wanted to take 10GB off the iPod classic to my mac and then put it all on my new iPod Touch. BUT, it transfered everything, but it was all random and just did a terrible job of it, i couldn't find any songs any names it was all in codes, (ok but thats not the problem.)
I deleted the 10GB of music off the mac (saved on my desktop) because it was just not the way i wanted it. And when i deleted it, the Mac is still showing up as having 4GB free space, and i had 14GB before i did it, i deleted the files but its not giving me back the space! Does anyone know how to fix this? could the files still be on the Mac? I can't find them anywhere but i still have no space left... please help...

ok it seems the mac is just not registering that i deleted the data for some time! it is not saying the GB's are free untill hours later! or the next day, is there anyway i can make the mac see it has more free space than it only thinks it does! i had 16 GB's i deleted 2GB's and it says i still have 16GB's!!! What the **** is wrong with it! is there anyway i can make it see it has 18 which i no it has!!

    Hey there,
After deleting the music files, did you empty your trash as well?
Nevermind. Looks like you beat me to it.

In list view, select the album column. To choose which columns appear, select an item on the left side of the window (a playlist, for example), choose View > View Options, and select the information you want to see. You can also Control-click a column heading to select columns to display.
The column selected determines how tracks are displayed.  For example, clicking the "Name" column displays all tracks in alphabetical order; clicking the "Album" column displays the tracks in album order; clicking the "Date Added" column displays the tracks in the order that they were imported into your library.  Columns also have a disclosure arrow at the right of the column (when selected) that you can click to reverse the order.

  • Whilst restoring IPod 4gen, restored to new iPod instead of restoring to named iPod - now have lost all files, photos - how can I restore the named account?

Restoring iPod and restored to new iPod instead of named iPod - have now lost all photos etc, as iPod account deleted by the looks of it - how do I get it back??

Restore from backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iTunes backup you iTunes purchases have to be in the iTunes library. You can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Netiehr the iTunes nor iClouod backup included non-iTunes purchases.

  • How get back my pictures in iPhoto lost after installing mac cloud?

Yesterday, Nov 13/11 I installed Mac Cloud.  Today I opened iPhoto to discover that all the photos and albums had disappeared. I made a recovery from Time Machine which turned out identical to the new "cloud" version i.e. totally empty. Where have the pictures gone?  Please let me know how to retrieve the photos I had stored in my former iPhoto application?
    Thanks for any reply

P.S. they are not in "pictures" in the finder either

    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.
Select: Music.  (and Apps and Books) if you want.
    Click OK.
iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.
Slow internet ...   try turning off the modem for a few minutes, then turn it back on.

  • MY LITTLE ONE ENTERED A PASSWORD ON HER IPOD NOW CAN'T REMEMBER IT ! HELP

    Evening all
My 8yr old daughter has for some inexplicable reason decided to enter a password onto her iPod but forgot to write it down- says she didn't realised the importance( what have i spawned ?)
This will teach us to buy nice expensive presents for xmas- she's managed to crack the screen and now she's locked herself out of the iPod...!!!! what ever next , is there anyway of sorting this- to one and all.
    All the best
    One racked off Daddy

Yes every tome you have connected the iPod to the computer it has made a backup. So you press backup or restore and at the end iTunes ask you if you want to define the iPod as a new one or if you want to restore it from the backup which you've made at the (date).
And there you can choose what you want.
The password should be deleted on both ways

  • 1st used ipod with pc, now, want to switch to mac, help!

I first used my mini ipod with my windows desktop computer. I recently purchased an apple notebook and wish to use my ipod with it, and not with my PC. However, because my ipod is formatted for windows, I cannot use it for my mac.
I've been searching through the forums for help on how I can achieve this goal of switching to the mac, but with no luck. Is there any way that I can reformat my ipod to a mac? (easy explanations please!) Thanks!

The really easy way to do this is to plug your ipod into the new (mac) machine, and once you see your ipod show up on the desktop/ itunes dock, go look for the program called "ipod updater." This program will prompt you to reset your ipod and reformat it to mac, and you will follow the steps of setting up you ipod as when you first acquired it. The downside to this is that you will loose all the files on your ipod. There are two things you can do if you want to transfer the music onto your new machine. 1) Go get the CDs and upload them onto itunes on your new mac or 2) go consult google to find a third party program that will allow you to take the files off your ipod and put them onto your new mac. To my knowledge, apple doesn't provide a method of doing this so you have to download another program.
If you decide to recover your ipod, that is use a third party program to get the songs off of it, then wait until that process is complete and then use ipod updater to reset your pod to your new mac. With your ipod still plugged in, go into itunes, rename your ipod, and let itunes automatically update your ipod. After that you can set it to manual again (you may have to unplug it first). I do not reccomend using a third party program to maintain large music libraries on both computers, you should choose one that will be your home computer and stick with it.

  • How can I recover lost purchases. I updated my iphone and did't back up my information and lost everything. Please Help me.

I updated my iPhone and forgot to backup my information. I need to know how can I recover the apps and the music that I bought.
    Thank you,
    Manuel Ruiz

    No.
Any tracking program would have to be installed and activated before the iphone went missing.
    Sorry.

  • Is there a way to retrive my old apps on my ipod that I lost now that I resored is to original settings and they had updated.  It would let the apps back on my 2G ipod that I had because they are now not compatable with the softwear!

I have now learned that our 2G IPods will not update any further to the latest ISO. but now that I just rebooted my son's Ipod he has lost a LOT of apps because they are no longer compatible with the softwear version on the IPod!  Is there a way to get these back???

the old apps are on my computer but they have had upgrades since they were put on the ipod originally.  you think you would get a warning about this when you restored. I was not worried about losing the progress of the apps but i would have been worried about the app it self!!!!!

  • I backed up my ipod and i lost all my music. And its not letting me put my music back on my iPod and i also tried to buy a song from iTunes but it didn't download to my IPod. So now i dont have any music on my ipod now

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • I tried to update my ipod touch and now i lost everything. i have music backed up but not my apps. Anyone have suggestions?

I tried to update my ipod touch and now I lost everything- music and apps. My music is backed up on an external drive, but not my apps. How can I restore my apps (some were purchased, some were free)?

If you remember what they are, you can download them again (you will not be charged).
You might wish to sync everything in the future.  It makes it a snap to recover when necessary.

  • My old computer crashed and deleted my iTunes media file with all my playlist. However, my iPod has the playlist I lost on the computer. How can I replace (reverse synch?) my iPod media information back onto my (now reinstalled) virgin iTunes media folder

My old computer crashed and deleted my iTunes media file with all my playlist. However, my iPod has the playlist I lost on the computer. How can I replace (reverse synch?) my iPod media information back onto my (now reinstalled) virgin iTunes media folder?

Yes it's possible to sync music back from a iPod back into iTunes that (I assume) wasn't purchased on the iTunes Store.
Apple allows iTunes Store purchases on devices to be reversed back into iTunes, just not cd rips and stuff like that. For that it's a one way trip to the device from iTunes.
I likely can't suggest such software here, but if you visit iLounge you can ask what is the latest software that works for your platform.
Really it only takes a mere few minutes to backup your iTunes Library and stick in a few cd/dvd's or a external drive. iTunes even has a menu command for it to make it oh so simple. Please use it and backup all your data.
Hard drives fail, computers burn up, thieves steal, stuff gets forgotten. Plan for something happening because it will.
    Good Luck
