Backed up my mom's iPhone and it's frozen?

So I just updated my mom's iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and she is trying to sync all of her apps back onto her phone. In iTunes, it goes through only step one and then gets stuck while backing up her phone. Could anyone help me?

To make this clear, for this to work, you must hae to apple IDs, your and you husbands. Did you back up your husband's iphone using his apple ID and restored it using yours?
If yes then just login on itunes using your husbands apple ID and restore.

Well, yeah. You want to create separate accounts for each of you, using individual Apple IDs. I know mothers and daughters like to share clothes, shoes, handbags, etc. but don't share Apple IDs.

No such thing has occurred. iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

TS3899 My email inbox doesn't update properly. Specifically, it currently only downloads emails dated through 1/20/14 and today is 2/20/14. I deleted the email account and added it back again, I rebooted my iPhone and I turned Airplane Mode on and off.

Are you saying it's not getting any email from AFTER 1/20/14, or are you saying you're only seeing mail FROM 1/20/14 to now?

Your getting that error because one or more of the files you are trying to sync cannot be found. You need to make sure your iTunes library is in fact accessible. This error is common with folks that store their library or parts of their library on an external drive,

The iPhone's backup done with iTunes or wirelessly with an iCloud account doesn't erase anything.
Do you mean you chose to transfer the backup for another iPhone or iOS device to the new iPhone when prompted the first time the new iPhone was connected to iTunes on your computer?

I think what you are saying is that itunes doesn't even recognize that your iphone is plugged in - so you can't start the recovery process? I DO know that in the hours of me muddling through the internet - googling this issue - that I did see other posts of those who plugged into itunes, and it didn't recognize their iphone, but they DID have suggestions on how to deal with the problem... while I don't have "the" solution, I wanted you to know I did see an answer out there - just skimmed past it as I was searching for mine... sorry I don't remember good luck!

Make sure you addressing the message to her phone number and not her email address, or on her phone go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and make sure her email address is listed under "You can be reached by iMessage at".

My mom's iPhone is starting to take a **** on her. Everything is super super SUPER slow! Her texts won't go through and sometimes don't even send at all and just disappear. She tried updating it using her wifi at her work and it got to the VERY end and then told her she didn't have enough storage. So I went on her itunes later that night and tried to backup her phone so she wouldn't lose anything cause I heard the new ios7 erases pictures and contacts. It took 2 hours and the phone never backed up. It just acted like it was and never actually did anything. It never even finished 'backing up'. HELP! Mom is getting super frustrated and so am I!

Try backing up to iCloud instead: Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Back Up Now.

Plug the iPhone into a wall outlet, let it charge for half an hour and then try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears.
If that does not work, take it to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the technicians.

Install iTunes on your Acer and you can back up the iPhone. Or back it up to iCloud. If you do not back it up you can get it unlocked, but you will lose all of your content.
You can get iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Even after unlocking I'm not sure it will work on Straight Talk, because last time I checked ST used Verizon as its carrier, and an AT&T iPhone 4 is not compatible with Verizon's network. You can probably use it on Net 10 or T-Mobile once it is unlocked.
