'Background' and 'Theme'

In Office 2013, the only Office Theme choices are two grays and a white (3 total). When will additional options be available?
Also, the Office Background only includes designs which appear to have been garnered from a second grade class' drawing contest. The backgrounds also sit right on top of the minimize-expand-close buttons. When will additional options
be available?

In PSE11 Adobe moved most of the backgrounds, frames, graphics and themes online. That's why you are not able to see those themes, as those are still not downloaded in your machine.
You will have to keep your Editor launched (with internet connection on) for sometime, in order to see the thumbnails.The online content is differentiated by a blue ribbon on them. Double click on the blue ribboned thumbnail to download the actual content.
Adobe did this to save lot of amout of space on your machine, and make installtion process faster.

Make sure your system software is up to date.
Click the Apple  menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...
And try troubleshooting Flash. Uninstall then reinstall.

Themes, backgrounds, and other downloads

Would anyone care to recommend a good site with theme, background, and other software downloads? Recommendations would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming from your other posts that your phone is the 3110c.
www.mosh.nokia.com is a good source of software but it's closing down soon.
www.getjar.com is a good source of programs.
www.zedge.net is good for themes and backgrounds.

How do I execute a vi in the background and pass it starup pramaters?

I would like to create a queue and pass it's handle to a subvi that runs in the background. I see several examples of running a vi in the background using the vi server, but I could not find any examples of running in the background and passing startup arguments.

Hi,
you can do following: Create your subVI with the needet connectors (queue
and startup parameters perhaps) and insert a loop, which ends when the queue
is destroyed. Insert shift registers an initialize them with you start
parameters. During execution update the shift registers with the new values.
Now create the main VI and place a create queue. Wire the outgoing queue
reference to the subVI and a new loop.
So your subVI starts running and the loop is executing parallel. To stop the
program just destroy the queue inside the main loop and your subVI will also
stop.

How to change pdf (with dark background) so it print with white background and dark text??

I have lots of nice presentations I am studying- the problem is most of them were made in ppt with dark backgrounds and white text then converted to pdf files. So when I print them, I get a dark (black) background with white text- very annoying. Is there anyway to get it to print with a light (or no) backround with black text? This is much easier for note taking/etc. I have adobe acrobat professional.

Use the rectangle shape tool. Draw a rectangle over the entire frame. In the shape tab, color it whatever you want. Export your TGA sequence.

PS: But if you place a colored bkg in your motion project that you will effectively have no alpha channel. Are they referencing the TGA's alpha?

Background and Screen Savers

How do i change the Background of the desktop and the Sreensaver?
sorry if this is in the wrong section, i wasn't sure of where to put this tread.
and aslo, the bit where you press menu on your remote and the new srceen comes up where you can view pictures and listen to you music. My songs come up on there but my pictures don't what folder do they need to be in?

You change the background and screen savers in the System Preferences Desktop & Screen Saver preference panes. Just click System Preferences in your dock.
In order to view your pictures in Front Row, you need to import them all to iPhoto.

Thanks to the-edmeister and cor-el, for speed of response. I had not inadvertently moved the Bookmarks-Toolbar : I was confronted with the situation right after Firefox 9 had installed and unfolded in front of me. At first, the toolbar area looked reassuringly familiar, but when I started normal work, I discovered the lack of tabs and the only reference I could see to TABS was a tiny button inviting me to group tabs (which was unhelpful to say the least, filling up the screen with tiny unreadable windows). Sure, there were tabs forming, but they were invisible, unless I used the group button. Eventually, I was brave enough to use "reset toolbars" and the tabs came back in the way I want them, but it was a traumatic 2-3 hours out of my life. I kept on "adding a new toolbar" to see if I could make use of it; I kept giving them names, but it is impossible to see where the new tool bar is! (the toolbars don't have a little bit to grab at one end). In my opinion, Firefox should not have allowed the Tab Bar and the Bookmarks Toolbar to become caught up with each other - they have completely different functions. I don't think I would like to play around with "Make a new profile"! I was so desperate that I have already downloaded version 3.6 again, ready to install, for if I was unable to resolve the version 9 problems above.

B/W Logo - Remove background and recolor.

I am new to AI. I am trying to convert a Black logo jpeg. I want to remove the background and recolor the logo to match a new design color theme. I am working in Photoshop Elements and AI. The transparency settings work in AI to remove the background and show the black. However, when I convert the logo to a lighter color, all the art is lost. Any advice?

Basically, AI works with objects of vector art, not raster images, and does not recognize individual pixels in a JPEG.
The most likely advice given in the Illustrator forum would be to recreate the raster artwork as vector, which would also make it infinitely scaleable; otherwise Photoshop is the natural application to use; I am not sure whether it can be done in Photoshop Elements.

PDFs printing with black background and white text.

For some reason some of our PDF's have been printing with black backgrounds and white text, even though they appear to be normal on the screen before they are printed. I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet but it appears to only be happening with pdfs that were created from scanned documents.
Can somebody please offer me some suggestions.

Absolutely agree with the original poster. I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it. I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible. Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age! I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway. iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text? It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.

Problems with .chart-plot-background and event handlers

Hello. I'm trying to add event handlers to my chart so that the user can be allowed click within the chart itself to perform certain actions like dragging, zooming, etc. To avoid having to deal with handling mouse clicks that lie outside the chart itself (for example on the axes), I've found that:
.chart-plot-background
is the Region that gives me the entire chart and nothing else. However, when I attach mouse listeners to this Region, the event is only registered on half of the cells in the chart. If you've seen the default JavaFX Chart background layout, you know that it contains alternating rows of cells with slightly different coloring. I've found that only the rows with the lightest gray coloring actually register a mouse click on them, which makes me believe the dark grey cells are not part of the .chart-plot-background, but something else on top.
To me, this feels like an oversight in how the regions of the chart are defined. Why can I not get a listener to work on the whole chart and nothing else? Currently the only workaround seems to be to take the Region:
.chart-content
instead, and compute the difference between this region and the .chart-plot-background in order to manually suppress mouse clicks that lie outside .chart-plot-background.
Anyone have suggestions? Is this worth issuing on the JavaFX Jira?

I'm not an expert on controls, but here is my guess based on your description: when you register an event handler on a "background" node, it is called only when the mouse hovers over the background node - I suppose the light gray is the background with the light gray cells being transparent and dark grey cells being filled. So the behavior seems correct - you can't expect the events to be delivered to background when it is covered by other nodes. I think you really should register the handler on the entire chart and filter out the events you don't want to handle. This however should not require much of computing the difference between the regions, it should be possible to do just something like
if (!background.contains(event.getX(), event.getY())) {
return;
Provided that the background doesn't reach under the axes as well. Note that if there are any different transforms between the background and the node with the handler registered on it, you may need to recompute the coordinates by
background.sceneToLocal(event.getSceneX(), event.getSceneY());
And use the contains method on that.

Page Background and Border Question

Hi All
I am attempting to build my site using some of the techniques employed in the following site- http://www.rshomes.com/index.php.
One of the features I would like to use is the following:
The top and bottom stone border are pieced together and it looks as though some is part of the background and some is not. They seem to merge pretty well into one another.
I created a textured page background in Photoshop 500px x 500px and inserted it as the page background in Dreamweaver cs3. If I add the top border in this image it displays the top border again half way down the page. Repeat x cuts off the rest of my background.
Can anyone explain the proper way of getting this done?

In IE (and Firefox, and probably every browser) you can right click on the web page and select View Source to see the page code. Once you can see the code, you can identify the files that are involves, and can usually enter those file names in the browser url field using the url to view them. For instance, if the web site has a url of:
http://www.someurl.com
and you see in the source code that the css style file is pulled in using:
<link href="CSS/stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
Then you can normally view/acquire that css file by typing...
http://www.someurl.com/CSS/stylesheet.css
into the browser url field.
This applies for just about any file you find references in html code.

Background and pop up menu in ENCORE CS5

Hi everybody,
I have a problem.
I try to create a pop up BD menu from a preset found in Encore (cloud pop up menu)
If I change writtings on buttons, some red collision square appears.
Then, using photoshop I take all the backgrounds of all buttons to make an unique background image.
Now if i use this image as an object it disappears.

How can I use a background for pop up menus?

The red squares are showing you that there are buttons that are overlapping. With the Marquee Tool (m) on Photoshop just select the part you want for the button from your background and then right click & select Layer via Cut and then put the new layer you made into the folder that belongs to that button. You can put a background on any pop-up menu but you have to cut it into pieces and put them in the folders of the buttons, and also make sure that they are not overlapping.

Additional Backgrounds and Borders

Hi! I am just getting into creating my own greeting cards. Mostly for Birth Announcements, Invites, Save the Dates, etc. On the Artwork and Effects Panel, there is such a minimum selection of backgrounds and borders (and others, but these are my main concerns). Being new to this, I wasn't sure if there was a place to download additional backgrounds and borders somewhere and adding them to the Artwork and Effects Panel? There's a specific type of border (striped) I'm needing for an invite, and I'm very limited (mostly polka dots) to the ones I already have in there.
I am currently using Photoshop Elements 5.0 on a Toshiba laptop.

There's a huge selection of backgrounds, borders, frames, artwork, effects, etc., which you install in your Presets directory. I don't know if any can be added specifically to the Artwork and Effects Panel.

I need to buy a background and other graphics library - suggestions?

Can anyone recommend a program or library that has backgrounds and/or other graphic elements that can be easily imported and used in Final cut pro? I am working with talking heads against a green screen and want to key them onto a background. I am not sure what programs people use to create backgrounds or other graphic elements, since it seems that most applications are used to manipulate them but not actually create them. Any suggestions on what to buy?

Livetype and maybe Motion and your own creativity are an endlessly robust library of backgrounds. All you need is time to experiment and render.
The JUICE products offer much more than just backgrounds, though. There are large collections of integrated, themed versions and variations that includes stuff for lower thirds, bumps, promos, interstitials, etc.
