BACKGROUND COLOUR AND HIGHLIGHT TEXT ISSUE

Hi, Just registered and I'm keen to ask you a pressing question. Setting background color different from white and adding highlight text causes the two colors to blend together i.e. the highlight color is not as vivid as applied over a white background or for instance as in a MS Word document. I'm expecting and appreciating your opinion.

Of course. Mix two colors and a new, different color comes to be.
Two primaries will yield a secondary (yellow + red = orange).
Optics, not the software application eh.
Try using a different highlight color with the designated background color.
Try using different opacity values for the highlight color.
Try using different opacity values for the background color.
Review the theory and practice associated with the color wheel to identify the most harmonious (for you) colors.

Someone else in the forum told me how to do this. If you have Onyx on your system then select Parameters, iTunes and turn off high contrast mode. If you don't have Onyx, I'd suggest getting it. It is freeware and used to help maintain your system. Good luck

Nothing happens. I can select the text but when I go to “highlight” it the button is grayed out and nothing happens. Is there some sort of code that prevents certain publications from having portions of their text highlighted?

Here's the solution I used to solve the same problem. If you're not comfortable editing the source files, this might be more than you want to take on--but I've done it to several files with no ill effects. You can follow the instructions on this page and the referenced original post from (he includes a link on the page). Good luck! He's got some great tips on some of his other pages.

A warning about editing the Master pages--it only edits them in that book--it doesn't update the theme. So if you go to create another book with those same layouts, you'll have to duplicate the book and replace all the images. An alternative would be to create a "clean" book with no photos in it and then just use that as a starting point each time.

Does Adobe Viewer on iPad support Search, Bookmark and Highlight Text?

How to quickly switch between speech bubble and highlight text in pdf viewer in Maverics. Can now only use menu to change to speech bubble in Maverics (Tool Icon gone since Lion and no shortcut listed)

I use Preview to mark up student assignments, switching between the speech bubble and highlight markup tools. The speech bubble is not on the toolbar since Maverics upgrade. It also have no shortcut, which means navigating the menu every time since the Text shortcut, under which the speech bubble is now located does not remember the previously selected item and always reverts to plain text.
From a usability point of view, for me this is a massive step backward since the Lion version...
Or is there some hidden magic that will let me switch between these tools without having to navigate the menu everytime...

100% agreed with this. The new interface is far too bulky, Even on my gaming computer's massive 21inch monitor, it's nearly impossible to keep up with my chat group of 23+ people. I constantly have to scroll back up to read messages, making it furstrating and inconveniant. And now that the update is being forced on all of them, they're complaning of the same issues. Like said previously, these are full computers, Not bloody tablets or cell phones, but even then the new skype's even more useless on my Venue8 Pro tablet, I get to see a whole 3 messages at a time (And don't get me started on the Win8 Skype app). And what made it worse, MS has removed all previous versions of skype from the internet. THEN even when I managed to get my hands on an old version, I can only log it in once before it kicks me off and gives me a worthless error message, "Skype Can't Connect". (But seriously, what happened to giving us error codes guys? Advanced users like myself want to be able to fix the issue ourselves!) MS, I'm sorry but, you need to stop fixing things that are not broken. I'm wasing my time trying to correct this now, and I really don't apreciate that. What happened to quality control and testing?

How do I setup my printer to print the colored background white and the text black on PP slides?

I have an Officejet Pro L7680. I am attempting to print PowerPoint slide that have a blue background and white text with a white background and black text. I've made changes within PowerPoint and made adjustment when printing and neither helps. I still end up with printed slides having a black background with white text? Thank you!

Hi,
Follow these steps to disable two sided printing:
Open the file you would like to print. From the File menu select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
Click the settings drop down, it will usually appear as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
Set the Two-Sided option as Off.
You may save the settings as a preset by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
By doing so and completing the print job these settings will remain default till another preset will be used in the future.

Why can't i change background colour and choose different themes in iphoto 9.4.3?

I am trying to create an iphoto book as I have done in the past. I am now using iphot 11 9.4.3 and it doesn't give me different themes and I can't change background colours in the book like I can with 9.4.2

It looks like you'll have to reinstall iPhoto go get the themes back. To reinstall iPhoto:
On all Macs running Snow Leopard or Earlier
1 - delete the current application and, , all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the:
(10.5 and earlier) - HD/Library/Receipts folder
or from the
(10.6) - /var/db/receipts/ folder
On all Macs with Lion or Later Pre-installed
Deleting receipts is not necessary if your Mac came with Lion or later preinstalled.
Finally re-install iPhoto from the source it came from originally:
1 - (10.6 or earlier) from the disks that came with the Mac or an iLife disk.
2 - (10.7 or later) from the App Store .

I know there are several options for exporting comments associated with highlighted text in Adobe Acrobat Pro, but is there a way to export both the comment AND the highlighted text?

Hi,
Any of the annotations on the Comment & Markup toolbar (including those not place with defaults but available via "More Tools") can be exported to a separate PDF file.
Use Summarize Comments or use Create PDF of Comments Summary.
In the options dialog that is presented, select 'Comments only'.
Regarding character strings that have the Highlight annotation "laid" over them;
Go into Acrobat's Preferences.
Select the Category "Commenting".
Look over the configuration settings in the 'Pop-Up Open Behavior'
and the 'Making Comments' panes.
Specifically, select "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups"
Cross-Out and Underline can be added to the Comment & Markup toolbar via the "More Tools" menu which is available on the default toolbar "ribbon" context menu.

Browser background colour and page background colour

On one entry page of my blog, the browser background colour is over-riding the page background gradient colours. I've tried remaking the entry page by duplicating another entry page, but this still happens on just this one page.
Hoping someone will be able to work out why...?

Highlight text issue in latest update

Hi,
The latest update is great and I run it in iPad 3 and iPhone 5.
However you can longer highlight individual words or text. You can only highlight full sentences.
The markers at the left and right cannot be moved closer to each other isolate a word or two, they just highlight the current sentence.
Is this a known issue?

White background, blue and black text only

Had the same problem several weeks ago and it went away when I re-set the proxy setting. Problem now resurfaced.
First bit - 'untrusted site' keeps popping up. Got one for Google . / Firefox help. Can now only use Chrome to get to Firefox help (thus I'm unable to provide the 'troubleshooting info')
Then I get to a site - e.g. Mozilla Support and the background is white and the only text is black or blue hyperlinks.
I have: - Reset / reloaded Firefox, deleted the 'cert8.db' file. The clock is fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks that you are blocking CSS files.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

N80 display colours and pc sync issues

N80 issues
I have the latest firmware, PC suite and lifeblog. Two issues have occured.
1. With the phone slider open, colours on the display go wrong and take on a magenta hue. This is not a physical problem. If I slide it closed, the colours are still incorrect untill I respond the the keylock promt either way.
2. I can no longer syncronise with Lifeblog or PC suite. The phone simply displays 'System Error'
I have searched the forums and no answer is provided. Please help.

I didn't say it wasn't a hardware problem?
I said it is not a physical problem i.e. bad electrical contacts to LCD.
I have gone down the reset route after having read numerous discussions and tried the format. Even reinstalled the firmware. Still no joy
Surprise, it's an orange. Am I the only one with the screen issue? I have seen the sync issues around but haven't found a solution.

JSP and large text issue

i have some large text type defined on a JSP (using <TEXTAREA>). they are defined as CLOBs in the DB. now when i save it, it saves ok in the DB. but when i view it in the JSP, the saved data contains "<BR>". i do not get it from where this come from. any idea to find and resolve it?

Who in the world actually looks at a 100,000 row report?
Anyway if I were you and I had to do it because some clueless management person decided it was a good idea... I would write a program in something that once a day, week, year or whatever your time period produced the report (in maybe a PDF fashion but you could do it in HTML if you really must have it that way) and have it as a static file that you link to from your app.
Then the user will have to just wait while it downloads but the webserver or web applications server will not be bogged down trying to produce that monstrosity.

I have requirement for list of Purchase orders.
1st. sort the list by vendor (This i did by using sort)
2nd. Vendor name should be display after sorting the lines.
3rd should count the no lines which has mark 'X' in field ELIKZ and sum the total counts and display it for every vendor after the sorted line.
I could sort the list by vendors. but don't know how to display the vendor name after those lines. then sub total also.
Please help
