Background covering my image

Hello,
So I just bought CS4 and I'm really confused.  My problem:  new projec --> new composition ---> preset animation template (cosmic) ---> imported logo.
I can't seem to figure out how to put the logo on top of the background so I can see both at the same time.  I'd like the logo to be seen while the animated preset background is running.  Is this possible?

You can drag the background layer in the Timeline panel so that it is under the logo layer. See "Change layer stacking order".
It seem that you are very new to After Effects. I very strongly recommend that you work your way through the materials under the "Getting started" heading on this page. After Effects is a very complex program, and you will not have a good and successful time if you dive right in without starting at the beginning with the basic instructional materials.

  • When I convert InDesign file to pdf, the background of my image is no longer transparent

I am working with InDesign CS3, and when I place a .gif file onto the document, the background of the image is transparent, which is what I want. However, when I convert the InDesign file to a pdf, that same image shows up in a white box. Why is this happening? Is there a setting that I am missing when I convert it? Thanks in advance

I am converting it via export, and actually it is an ai file, my apologies.
The white box does not appear in InDesign print preview.
I corrected the link, but still no luck.
I am opening the document in Adobe reader, and overprint preview is turned on.
Keep the suggestions coming please! I really appreciate it.

  • Keying video that has similar colour background, advice please-image included.

Last-year I visited America, and on the last day managed to secure an interview with a WW2 Ace, which had to be done within a very short time span.
Unfortunately this left me with a situation that I couldn't really control, and so I am in a situation where I need to add a background to footage (doesn't need to be perfect, so a fringe would be acceptable), but I wonder if anyone can give me steps on how to best remove the Pilot from the plain background.
An image can be seen here from the footage:
    http://www.atgo72.dsl.pipex.com/key.jpg
As you can see, his shirt and hair are very similar to the background colour, so I have had difficulty colour and chroma-keying.
I am wondering if it is possible to key him out of the background, or whether I'm chasing my own tail?
Any help would be much appreciated, cheers, Neil.

    Here is my feeble attempt.

How: create a simple travelling mask and keyframe the movement of person try avoiding too few bezier points for easier, this is helpful for keying purposes so that the keyer has less areas to key out and in the end you can additionaly adjust mask expansion and feather at your needs >> Keying: i used at least 4 instances of color key and play around with color, color tolerance and feather of each instance >> add matte choker, adjust >> ad simple choker, adjust.
NOTE: Ae does not update changes very well, means every slider adjustment must be done by little increments, so adjust a little, release, adjust, release, to get the preview done this is pretty awful but it works somehow.
COMP PREVIEW MUST BE SET @ FULL QUALITY otherwise at half resolution results vary very heavy - thats the next flaw, hopefully better in CS5
    much luck.

  • Last night suddenly when I right-click-view-images in firefox, they appear centered and against a black background. It's usually meant to be a white background and the image appearing at top left. How to revert it?

I'm having trouble with something in firefox, it's quite minor but still bugs me. Last night suddenly when I right-click-view-images in firefox, they appear centered and against a black background. It's usually meant to be a white background and the image appearing at top left. I can't remember what I did to change this if it's my fault; if someone knows how to revert it I'd be thankful.

cor-el : thanks for the pointers! I wish the solution isn't an add-on every time ... if such long-standing behaviour is going to change, the least that could be done is put in an about:config option to get back the old behaviour.

  • How to blurr background of this image, while mting the window frame?

I would like to blurr the background of this image of mom and child, while maintaining the integrity of the window frame. (ie i don"t wish to change the frame or blurr it.)
i know if i select the mom and child via selection tools  and then go to filters and gauserian blurr and hit ok;it will blurr the background  as well as the window frame. I am sure this involves two procedures, but how would it be done? Thanks for your help!!

    Open the picture file
Make a selection of the frame. I used the magnetic lasso tool, which works very well here. Once the selection is complete (see marching ants), go to Layer>new>layer via copy
Use one of the selction tools, e.g. lasso ot selection brush, to select mom and child. Layer>new>layer via copy
Blur the background layer with Filter>blur>surface blur
To enhance this a bit, I applied unsharp mask to the frame layer and to the layer with Mom and child
You could also blur the entire picture and use a mask to mask out the blur on Mom and child.

  • How do i change the gray background to an image of my choice

how do i change the gray background to an image of my choice when exporting an swf in indesign cs6. i want like the wooden destop look behind my flipbook. please help.

appletv play audio out of optical out of hdmi and the old alu one play out the RCA too
the typical the white and red plug ins would be RCA if you have a atv2 (the black one) you cant use
RCA as that is analog and optical and hdmi are digital
you can get converters but some would be pricy and could cause delay between image and pictures for video

  • How do I delete the background of an image so that it is clear, with ZERO color, not even white??

How do I delete the background of an image so that there is ZERO color, not even white??

Photoshop's "Background" is a special layer and does not support transparency.  You need to convert a Background layer to a normal layer if to want to cut out parts of the layer.

  • How do I make the background in an image transparent?

...How do I make the background in an image transparent?

It sounds like you're gif is a picture of a white background with a black chess piece on top. If that's the case, you're going to have to cut the black chess piece out of the gif. Save ~just~ the image of the chess piece. Discard the white background. Use only the image of the black chess piece with no background image at all.
Keep in mind that Java doesn't know that the white background isn't a part of the image. It doesn't understand that the white part is just the background. As far as it's concerned, the whole gif is the image. Only the component that ~contains~ that gif can become transparent.
So, if you want to have a white background to start with and then have that background become transparent when the piece moves, make the background of the ~component~ holding the image of the chess piece white. When the piece moves, have the background of the component holding the image of the chess piece become transparent.

  • White Background under an image

    Hello!
I'm not English so I'm sorry for my bad english. I hope of able at good explain.
I have a problem with after effects:
I wanted to import an image in after effect. but when I imported it there was a white background under the image...
So, I tried to delete this background with photoshop:
I copied only the image in a empty level and I deleted the background level.
When I imported the image there was another time the white background.
    How can I solve?

But to what format did you save it? In order to retain the trnasprency, you need to use ther PSD format or formats like TIFF and PNG. Nothing is achieved, if you save to JPEG or such, since they cannot support transparency channels. Also make sure, you are actualyl importing the transparency by picking the layer in the PSD import dialog or importing the whole document as a comp. If you just choose to import the merged layers and still have the original in teh background, of course you will only end up without any transparency again... I recomemnd you read the help for Photoshop and AE on how to get the best out of both for such workflows...

  • Is it possible to make the background of an image transparent in indesign?

is it possible to make the background of an image transparent in indesign?

It's not necessarily the best way, but depending on the image content, you might be able to get an acceptable result with the options under Object > Clipping Path...
EDIT: So technically, the answer to your question is: No, but you can apply a clipping path to hide the background.
Also, again depending on the image content, as well as the underlying content, it might be possible to use blend modes in the Effects panel to render the background transparent.
Background removal is best done in Photoshop, where the image can then be saved as .PSD and its native transparency will be honored when placed in InDesign.

  • How to eliminate background of an image while Maintaining semi-transparent mid-ground.

Sorry if the topic name is slightly inaccurate or if my question seems amaturish, I'm fairly new to using PS. For a project I would like to delete the black background of this image http://calibermag.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/2534069-Action-Bronson-617.jpg and replace it with another background, however I would like to keep the smoke that's lingering over the background. Are there any techniques or tools I could use to delete the background and the black behind the smoke without directly effecting the smoke?

That image will respond well to the [Refine Edge] feature.
Basically, select the dude with e.g., the Quick Select Tool, then use Refine Edge and paint the Refine Radius Tool over the smoke.
This tutorial gives the technique in some detail.  The technique shown works in the most current version of Photoshop.

Smoke isn't too terribly different, conceptually, than hair.

Generally, using a different program than Lightroom, e.g. Photoshop.
Note: you can remove objects in Lightroom by stringing dust-spot removal bubbles across them, but that may or may not be preferrable. If you do go that route, it may be essential to position strategically *after* initial placement.

  • How do you remove the background from an image

how do you remove the background from an image thathas a white background?

First, change the background layer to a normal layer if needed, by dragging the padlock to the trash can.
Then use the quick selection tool or magic wand tool to select your background.
Now you can either delete the background, or click the icon at the bottom of the layers panel that looks like a circle inside a square. This icon will convert the selection to a mask.
The advantage of the mask is, it is non-destructible. In that you can change your mind at any time. Whereas deleting pixels is permanent once you close the file and there is no duplicate files. (A way around this is to make a duplicate layer and hide it. But that does make the file larger.)
