Message -  background eraser has stopped working because of a program error

Posted this in the other string as well. Same issue for me:
I have the same error when I try to use the background eraser tool in Photoshop. I just noticed it today. Restarted program, MAC. Tried in both RGB and CMYK, same message. I can see it begin to remove at the very beginning of clicking, then the error message:
"Could not use the background eraser because of a program error."
    Photoshop CS6 13.0.5x64
    MAC OS 10.8.4
    Hmmmmm.

NOTE EDIT: I was able to reset my Photoshop preferences and it seemed to fix the issue. Command/Option/Shift upon starting Photoshop.

I have tried with a wired USB keyboard and mouse using a single screen. Powered up with option pressed. No change.
    Reset SMC  no change

Run the Apple hardware test to see what it tells you. Run the extended test when prompted, which can take awhile.

How do I get this feature working again? I am reluctant to move to iTunes 10.7 because I don't trust Apple at the moment.

    My suggestion:
    1) Always using MAC AIR with the power plug in.
2)Don' let the power level of battory fall under 30% percentage.
3)If the MAC can't be recharged now, just let it be with power plugged, WAIT...

  • What do I do if my Mac Mini was stolen?

My Mac Mini was stolen, and I was told Apple might be able to find out where it is? How do I go about doing this?

No, there is no way for Apple or anyone else to determine its location. You may be thinking about Find My Mac which is a feature available in Lion.

  • Background Eraser Error - PS6

Hello -- I am having an issue with my PS6 and the background eraser not working after about a few click of use, popping a "Could not use the background eraser because of a program error".  I thought it would be helpful to try and remove my preferecence file and start PS6 again to see if there was something wronf witht he preference file, but even with a fresh file the error popped.
I really need this tool to be working (it works better than just masking) -- I have a project currently that requires it --- any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jared

  • Cisco VPN client crashes with Error 51 on Intel Mac Mini

I am in the process of migrating from XP to Tiger on a brand-new Mac Mini (Intel Duo). Now I am stuck:
I use v 4.8.00 of the Cisco VPN client supplied by my university's IT dept. to connect to the Campus intranet. I have been unable to succesfully use this software, as it crashes upon initializing with "Error 51: Cannot connect to the VPN subsystem." Re-installing the software does not change the state of affairs.
After some research, I used a hack found here (http://www.versiontracker.com/php/feedback/article.php?story=20060107011305622 and http://www.versiontracker.com/php/feedback/article.php?story=20060107011305622) to manually restart the VPN daemon. The Terminal result looks like this:
kld(): warning /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext/Contents/MacOS/CiscoVPN cputype (18, architecture ppc) does not match cputype (7 architecture i386) of objects files previously loaded (file not loaded)
kextload: kldlookup("_kmodinfo") failed for module /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext/Contents/MacOS/CiscoVPN
kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
    load failed for extension /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
(run kextload with -t for diagnostic output)
Not being fluent in Darwin, I can only interpret this to mean that the VPN client is incompatible with the Intel chip in the Mac mini... Is this correct? Is the only way for me to use VPN to wait for a 4.8.x version to be made available?
    Hopeful still,
    felixx

Also - the Mac VPN system will work with most Cisco networking devices. You can open up the PCF profile that your IT group wants you to use and figure out most of the questions Internet Connect will ask you to set up the VPN connection. For the rest, you have to ask the IT group or try some things and see what works...
    cheers,
    Mike

  • How do you resolve the issue with an error message on the Mac mini server stating Unable to get users

How do you resolve an issue when creating groups on a Mac Mini Server when this error message appears.
"Unable to get Users & Groups State, The Open Directory master was created, but a problem was encountered trying to refresh the state of the server. Check log files for more info."

Most likely, the Server was not configured correctly - DNS is a common issue, If DNS is not configured properly, OD will not be happy. You can run
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
in Terminal to see of DNS is up and running.
Here's a great tutorial (not mine) for setting up OS X Servers. The page says it's for a typical school environment, but it can be applied in many other environments.

  • Error at shut down mac mini OS X Lion

I've a mac mini from mid 2011 (2.3 ghz intel Core i5) with OS X Lion 10.7.5. During shut down it ofter gives an error. Sometimes I see an error message on my screen that I've to press the power button to shut down. And sometimes I don't see anything, but the little light on the mini keeps turned on. I ran the disk utility and Techtool deluxe, no errors were found.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes I see an error message on my screen that I've to press the power button to shut down.
Please quote the exact error message, or post a screenshot. Thanks.

  • Mac mini was slow, better

My mac mini had started running slow. I tried repairing permissions, reinstalling software from scratch to no avail.
So I reset the mini by unplugging the power cord, holding the power button down then pressing again.
Immediately a puff of dust spewed out of the mini and the fan came on full speed.
I have never heard the fan on before ever.
Now it won't go off but it seems a bit more responsive.
Should the fan have been on all along for light task such as web surfing.

The fan should run all the time the system is powered, but typically slowly enough that you can barely hear it. When CPU load is high and the temperature inside the unit begins to rise, the fan should then spin up until it reaches a speed where it is very noticeable. It should generally NOT run at full speed when web browsing, though if there is flash content or heavy graphics embedded in a page, you may hear the fan spin up for what ought to be fairly brief intervals.
You don't say which model of mini you have, but the reset procedure you appear to be describing sounds like the PMU reset for the G4 mini. If so, it doesn't work on Intel models.
    If it's a G4, follow these instructions:
    - Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
    - Wait 10 seconds.
    - Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
    - Let go of the power button.
    - Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.
If it's an Intel model, follow these:
-From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.
After you do whichever is the appropriate reset the system is still misbehaving, and noting that you've done what sounds like a full reinstall of MacOS, let us know if you did an erase and install or an archive and install, and also whether the fan runs at full speed all the time (very loud, from power-on) and whether you have had the system open at any point.

  • Mac Mini was unplugged while on. How should I proceed?

My Mac Mini Server edition (2011) was accidentally unplugged while on. It rebooted fine, but I'm a bit paranoid about any unfinished procedures causing cruft in the operating system/hardware. Is there anything I should do to be sure that this incident has not negatively impacted my hardware/software such as resetting the PRAM, PMU etc.?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

"Rapid blackout" shutdown is not good, but OSX performs several "verification checks" at startup just in case there are any incomplete operations ate shutdown.  Chances are those procedures were busier than normal during the next startup, but it recovered.
As to the rest of the hardware rapidly shutting down, wait for any signs of issues in my opinion.
In short, you are probably fine.  Just keep an eye on it for a day or so.
In addition ... pulled power plug is not the only way to lose power while operating.  Blackouts (power out for several seconds) or brownouts (power blinking for a split second) or power dips (power seems always on it dips below the 120 V level) can cause issues.
You can buy a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) that uses bateries to supplement the "power dips" or replace wall power during brownouts and blackouts.
Units sufficient fo a macmini (500 VA units) can be had for $60.

  • I want to have older version of adobe because my mac mini was bought in 2010

want older adobe version as my mac was bought in 2011

    Hello,
The year of your Mac Mini doesn't necessarily determine whether or not you can install the latest version of Flash Player.  If you have OS X 10.6.5 or above, you can install the latest version of Flash Player, and there is no need to install an older, unsecure version of Flash Player.
