Background File Activity incomplete

Hi all,
I don't know what I did to turn this on, but I certainly
can't find out how to turn it off !
I have a project called TestCode. Every time I launch a page
from within Dreamweaver 8
I get the following message:
Background File Activity - TestCode
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not
completed.
Details:
Started: 21/05/2007 10:29 AM
newgrid\dbtest.asp - error occurred - An error occurred -
cannot put dbtest.asp. Access is denied.
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not
completed.
Files with errors: 1
newgrid\dbtest.asp
Finished: 21/05/2007 10:29 AM
This occurs with every file within the TestCode project, but
I have many other projects defined and running
and I don't get this error message.
Can someone please point me in the right direction ???
Driving me nuts with the number of times this popup comes up...
regards,
Matt.

  • File Activity Incomplete

I am a beginner with web design but have put my own site up and now was trying to help my church out... Remade their site and all was well till something happened and my Contact Us page's content disappeared. So I remade the page and tried to upload it to the server ( which is located etc) and I get a message which reads: File Activity Incomplete 1file or Folders were not completed. I am stumped. Can anyone give me a clue?
    Thanks much

  • The Background File Activity Window Is Annoying. Any tips on removing?

So, I just started using Dreamweaver CC after having been on hiatus from the program for nearly a decade. I have to say, most of the things I hated it for, and stopped using it because of, have been corrected. Kudos, Adobe, for fixing what was everyone's least favorite program in the suite.
Anywho, all that said, I am still annoyed on a very VERY regular basis by the program issuing an extremely pesky pop-up window anytime I attempt to Put files to my Remote or Testing server. I took a screenshot of the nasty bugger and have attached it here. The Background File Activity window closes when the Put action results in no errors or warnings. That's fine, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I put an HTML file that has references to external files (**so ya know like ANY HTML FILE EVER**), the window stays up and requires me to take action on closing it. THIS IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING. The error message displayed in the window doesn't even seem to be accurate (- error occurred - Access denied.  The file may not exist locally,  may be open in another program, or there could be a local permission problem), because it DOES put the HTML file in question. Perhaps the worst characteristic of this window is that is floats above everything else on my desktop. That means if I want to do a local>remote sync or just upload a bigger bunch of files, and then jump back into Photoshop to keep working on assets in there, I eventually am interrupted by this window popping up. This thing is worse than my cat trying to lay on my hands when I'm typing.
So, if anyone has any suggestions on how to turn this frustrating dialogue off, I would be very grateful.
My system specs are: Yosemite (Mac OS 10.10.1) and Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 (15.0.0.6947).
    MUCHO DANKES

its not FTP information, the site is defined as Local
    Network. I have a drive
lets say M:\ mapped to \\machine\webroot or whatever and then
    point my DW8 site
    to M:\webroot
It can synchronize all it wants, all day long for all I
    care...... just lose
the focus so I can switch windows??? You don't name something
    'background' file
activity when its in your face and causing nothing to respond
    appropriately in
    the 'foreground' lol.

  • Set default for background file activity

Does anyone know how to have Dreamweaver 8 have the
Background File Activity to default to
    always show details"
? I know it seems like a little thing but I always have to try
to get to the arrow to click it to show Details and when there are
just a few files, it's nearly impossible to get there quickly
    enough.
I thought that perhaps DW8 might remember the last setting
but that doesn't appear to be the case. My system is running
Windows XP Pro SP2 with IE 7..
    Thank you,
    Stretchr

Done! I hope that they listen to our suggestions. I am still
more than a bit wary of how this product will fare now that Adobe
owns it but maybe I'll be surprised.
    Cheers,
    Stretchr

  • Background File Activity Hangs

I've about had it with Dreamweaver because of this one single
problem. If I restart my system and open Dreamweaver, I can work
for a few minutes or an hour, or a few seconds, or a whole day, but
at some point along the way, guaranteed, Background File Activity
hangs during a PUT function or a Save (automatically put) function
and the resulting file on the server corrupts itself and reads a
    zero length.
This is particularly annoying because it screws up my site's
    styling...GRRRRR.

Just guessing here (I haven't experienced this), but does it help to rebuild your site cache? Site->Recreate Site Cache
Or, commonly these days, follow the steps for removing a corrupted cache file here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417116
Note that it may take some time to rebuild the cache if you have a lot of files in your site(s). Perhaps longer if the local files are on a different computer (LAN).

  • Can't upload file - FTP error - file activity incomplete

I'm totally new to Dreamweaver and websites - trying to pick
up and run with a voluntary organisation's website. I have the
public_html folder on my PC. I have set up the 'New Site' within
Dreamweaver; made changes to the index.htm and have tried numerous
ways of 'putting file to the remote site'.
I get the error message as above - FTP error - file activity
incomplete re this 1 file called index.htm.
I have no idea how to trouble shoot this - used a colleague
who successfully uploaded a sample index1.htm, yet when I tried I
couldn't do anything; used my website host technical support but
they don't know Dreamweaver and although they tried various ways
    they couldn't help.
Please, is there anyone who can throw some light of what
    might be the problem?

    Hi Eunice,
In your site definition in DW, you set up the FTP parameters.
    In the
    Advanced tab, check the following:
    Access: FTP
FTP Host: Enter the URL of the server, without any
    http:// or www
    or subdirectories (i.e. just servername.domain )
    Host directory: /public_html/
Login: Use your username that you created the site with
Password: Use your password for that account
Select the "Save" and the "Use Passive FTP" check boxes. Then
    click "Test".
You should get a message saying "Macromedia Dreamweaver
    connected to your
    Web Server successfully."
If this doesn't work, then you need to double check your
    login information
    and your Internet connection.

  • Background file activity

Am previewing from dreamweaver cs3 in Device Central. The
file is a coldfusion page (runners_mo.cfm) . It seems to display
the way I want it on the emulators, but often get a message in
Background File Activity screen that says:
    "Mobile\runners_mo.cfm - error occurred - An error occurred -
cannot put runners_mo.cfm. The process cannot access the file
because it is being used by another process. "
Any ideas on what this is about? I don't see any info on
Background File Activity. And, as stated, the display seems fine.
    Thanks
    Keith

Nobody knows how to remove this pop-up?

  • Background File Activity - wasted time

In Dreamweaver CS6 when  I put or drag a file over from the local to the remote the Background File Activity checks EVERY file in the system - not just for what I'm uploading - takes a lot of time away from my work - every time I upload it checks everything and lets me know - not transferred - great but I wasn't trying to transfer anything but what I did!  I How do I avoid this function?

I have never run into that before. If I have a file highlighted and click Put, only that file is ever processed. I certainly don't get the "same - not transferred" notation on everything (which is what I would expect in a Synchronize).
I can see why you're frustrated, that has to be a huge time waster.
It's not the standard behavior, so it should be repairable.
I don't know of any settings that would force checking the entire site on a standard Put operation though. Is this something that just recently started happening, or has DW always processed every file for you?

  • Background File Activity takes forever

I just purchased and installed CS6 (physical media) on my new Windows 7 (64bit) pc.   I believe there was one update. For smaller sites, ftp works as it did in CS3 (on different pc with XP Pro).   I have another site that has a lot of folders/files and seems like I can't even click on the 'Test' button and it connect.   I know it works because in my cs3 version it works fine.
Is it possible I can't import settings from cs3?   Are their known ftp issues?
    Thanks.

Seems to be some confusion with the update numbering and build number provided by Adobe.
    The Adobe blog http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/07/dreamweaver-cs6-update-12-0-1.html
says 12.0.1 is Build 5842 - which you already have.
However, DW 12.0.1 reports via Help > About that version 12.0 is installed.
The build number is the only way to be sure that you have the updater correctly installed - which you do.

  • How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, nicitdl5.exe

How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? I use labview rarely, and I also use my computer for demanding multimedia applications, including multitrack digital audio recording. I need to reduce as much background activity as possible, and taking a look with task manager I see files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, and nicitdl5.exe running even when I haven't used Labview (8 I believe). These files run even after I right click the NI icon on the lower right and turn off the application. I would like the computer to boot up without these files, and for the necessary files to be activated only when I start the program.
Can this be done or do I have to remove labview from the system to improve performance?
    Thanks

Hello, those processes are part of running NI services that start when Windows boots.  These processes serve varied purposes and stopping them can have undefined and unknown consiquences for your NI products.  These products run at "normal" priority meaning that they should be preempted by any process running at a higher priority which I would expect your other application to be doing given their time sensitivity.  That being said, in Windows XP (I can't speak for other OSes), you can lower their priorities even greater through task manager (right click the process»set priority) to further remove them from contention for resources.  If you want to prevent them from running you can set the service startup type to "manual" in Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services.  Right click the process go to Properties and Under the General tab choose Startup Type»Manual.  This will start up the processes only when something directly starts it up.  LabVIEW will start these processes up as it attempts to use them.  When you shut down LabVIEW you will need to manually shut down these processes through task manager.  Again, doing this can cause problems with your NI products on your system and it is not advised.

  • File Activity Timeout

I am working on a php website in dreamweaver and every time I
make any edit change the file activity dialog pops up and then
times out. Now, my server is offline right now but I'm not working
on the server. I'm working on my local copy. Here is my setup:
    Local windows workstation:
    Remote apache/php/mysql via ftp
    Test = same server
I just want to edit some files, I don't want to connect to
the database, don't want to make any database changes or map to any
database fields. I just want to edit some text and get some work
done while the server is down.
Why does Dreamweaver need to talk to the server every time I
edit text or insert a field? This is absolutely terrible. I can't
do anything. It takes forever to do just one thing?
Besides, the big selling point of dreamweaver 8 is that the
file activity is supposed to happen in the background. This is not
true. The file activity locks up dreamweaver until it times out or
    until I click on close.
Is there a fix for this?
I should have just stayed with Dreamweaver MX 2004 as there
is really no benefit to upgrading. What a waste.

Have you tried it out with AIR 3.2?
    thanks,
    Ignacio

i've had this happen when the cd is extremely dirty. usually only one or two tracks though, not a whole cd.

  • No background processing active on TargetServr BWTCLNT400

    Hi There
I am currently working on a landscape where we have had a copy-back on our CRM system, plus the BW system was moved onto new hardware etc etc. the net result is that I am having a nightmare re-establishing the comminications CRM --> BW (which is now sorted) but especially BW --> BW.
I have sorted out all the usual stuff (SM59, WE20, WE21 etc etc) but when I run an update from an DSO in BW to another InfoProvider using the 3.x data flows, I get the following error in SM21:
BP_JOB_MODIFY: Job cannot be modified. Reason:
    > Job BIREQU_62ZSSTFTQ5AI5RW1Y429235SE contains invalid data
BP_JOB_MODIFY: Job cannot be modified. Reason:
    > No background processing active on TargetServr BWTCLNT400
I suspect this has definitely something to do with me trying to sort out the process chains and de-scheduling the background job for BI_PROCESS_LOADING on the BW system.
When I try to re-shedule this job using SM37, where you define a step for the ABAP Program RSPROCESS the system insist that I should enter a variant (which does not exist). So obviously I am being a muppet.
Does anybody know how I can re-start the Background Processing (I suspect there is a program that needs to be run or something)?
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
    Cheers - Daneel

    Hi
I m facing the same error .. please check this note 147104 might be helpful in your issue..
check the entry in table ROIDOCPRMS for target system.. for the current source system.
    Thanks

  • IMessage interface Comp Controller (JAVA file) generated incompletely

    Hi Experts,
I am doing a web dynpro java component, it has two views A & B (Comp view)
I have rebuild the DC but not yet deployed it so no class files yet
When i checked on the java code of my component controller it implements the IMessage interface, the corresponding package is imported, yet i can not call any values saying "<VALUE> can not be resolved"
when i checked on the /wdp folder the java file for the IMessage<CompControllerName> does not contain the values, which explains the case above saying value can not be resolved.
My question is why was this java file generated incompletely (without the values)?
As i understand this java file is automatically generated by the WD code generator.
Do i need to define the values manually in the file (by editing it),  or do i specify it graphically?
Below SHOULD be the complete code generated::
// This file has been generated by the Web Dynpro Code Generator
// DON'T MODIFY!!! CHANGES WILL BE LOST WHENEVER THE FILE GETS GENERATED AGAIN
    // $JL-GENERATED-SOURCE$

I am trying to consume a webservice in wd java
    Thanks in advance

What you will do in your controller is get a reference to the AM via the pageContext object.
    Like this:
    OAApplicationModule am=(OAApplicationModule)pageContext.getRootApplicationModule();
Use the am ref to call methods in the am.

  • Huge background file sizes in CP5.5

I've noticed recently that all my background file sizes are huge - over 2 MB each.  Earlier projects would vary the size of the background files - most around 60-80K, and a few the same as the current ones 2,257.21K.
I wondered if it has to do with adding more master slides, or the slides in the template (my templates include several example slides, which are removed when the project is completed).  I've also noticed that the images etc. in the library are still marked after the example slides are removed, apparently because they are part of the template.
Can anyone explain this stuff?  It's increasing the size of files and therefore the loading time tremendously, not a good idea.
    Thanks,
    Marion

Just an addition to this...I edited one of the background files in an outside graphics program.  The file was only 42KB.  I reduced it from 8-bits/Channel to 256 colors, which presumably would decrease the size of the background file.  The actual file is only 32 KB, but the file in Captivate is still 2257.21 KB, though it says it is 256 colors.  It should at least be a smaller file.
I tried exporting the original file, and it was 1.61 MB.
Captivate is apparently leaving a fixed amount of space for each background file, which is out of proportion to the actual size of the file.
I also tried capturing the same screens in a blank project with no master slides, in case it was somehow attaching them to each graphic.  It made no difference.  Each background was still 2.257 KB, which still seems larger than the capture should be.
I tried capturing at 790 x 545, and as Lilybiri says, it is 1.7 MB.
I also captured the 990x570 file with Snag-it, and it was 1.67 MB
The problem is that, while the file may be compressed on publishing, the projects are now much larger than they used to be, and are causing problems on loading.
I am trying Rod's suggestion of a blank slide at the beginning...
