• Background Image on a Report Region

Greetings,
Is it possible to put a background image on a report region? Using the code shown below I can get an image on most other region types, but the code simply doesn't work on a report region.
Thanks in advance for your help, Tony

<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="left"

Greetings fac586,
Been reading up on CSS's. I guess the main aspect is to determine the CSS component that deals with the Tabular Form in the Template I am using and modify it. I would need to modify the background attribute of the Tabular Fom, right?
Gotta crawl before I walk, so I am also assuming that I would modify the CSS initially with a hard-coded background image. Then, if I get that to work I would make the image dynamic based on the criteria in a database. Am I on the right track?
Is there a common attribute/component in the Apex Template CSS's for Tabular Forms? I've tried to find it, but am not sure what I'm looking for.Tabular forms can be created using any report template—built-in or custom—so the CSS will differ by theme and template.
Yes, you can define background images for report templates, but It's not appropriate to do what you're trying to do at the report template level. Templates are static and defined at design-time. Challenging Apex Page - Grid with 100+ items - Suggestions Needed. This needs to be dynamic and determined at run-time.

Hello Brian.
Thanks for you answer.
I do just like you say but i have the same problem.
My report is like an invoice: i have an header, a body with a group and 2 sections and a footer.
All the pages of my report must be printed on a background image (A4 format).
This is the problem.
If i create a report with image in a single section all is ok. But in my report if i use a small image, the image is printed and hide columns separator (simple vertical lines) and show data but the following sections lose their right position.
If I use the original image (A4 format) CR return the following error:
header or footer too large for the page
o similar word (I translate from italian to english because I am working with italian version).
Do you have other solutions?
Thank you wery much.
Best regards

Sorry, the service went crazy there.
Right click the poage header and select insert section below.
Place the imnage in the lower page header (B probably), and then right click the page header b and select format section (section expert) and select the underlay following sections.
This will give you an idea of the underlay following sections use, then in future posts try including your software version and technical infomation.

• Getting a watermark background image to underlay box lines and lines.

I've added a page header to my report with a watermark that underlays following sections. My box lines aren't showing up because the image covers them. Everything else displays above the image. Is there any way to solve this problem without using text boxes with borders?

I tried this and it didn't turn out very well. My image is really light gray in colour (with a white background) and I'm having a rough time making the transparency show up in Crystal since it won't support .GIF images. When I do it in .JPG or .PNG it corrupts the image so bad you can barely see it after its been made transparent. I'm using GIMP 2.0 as my editor. I don't know if there is an easier way to do this. You would think the program would have a simpler way to add a background image into reports. -.-

• Background Image not visible in a PDF report

Hi Experts!
I create a WORD 2007 template for BI Publisher 11g. I use a background image.
When I test the template locally as a PDF, the background image is visible, but when I open the Report with the BI Publisher, there is no image.
Has anyone an idea?
Regards Norbert

The size of the images was too big after compressing it. It worked fine.

• Setting background image for repeating frame in .pdf report

Is it possible to set a background image for a repeating frame, and more specifically for a repeating frame rendered in .pdf?
I do not see any standard property in the navigator for images of any sort and the documentation touches only on setting background images for graphs, which is not the intent in my case. I -did- add an HTML table property background="myimage.jpg" but the report is ultimately generated in .pdf format and I was not surprised to see that the image was not rendered.
Does anyone know if setting a background image as described is even possible, and if so, how? A second but less optimum solution would be setting the image as the background for all report pages, again in .pdf.
Many thanks.

Hi Raj,
Yes you can have an image in the background. Thats possible if you are using XML forms as an iview or ivew dev in WebDynpro...

• SSRS Report - background image not displaying in MHTML email

We have a report that has a rectangle with an image as a background (doesn't make any difference whether image is external, embedded, etc). The background image displays fine on the screen and when exporting to PDF, but doesn't show when emailing (via subscription)
in MHTML format and opening in MS Outlook, gmail, etc.
It seems to be a legitimate bug with SSRS (have tried in SSRS 2008 R2, 2012, 2014).
Is there a workaround? Service Pack?

Hi Corey Gray,
Per my understanding that the background image in the email subscription not display which format is MHTML, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue. I deliver this report to three email amounts: Outlook, Hotmail and 163, below I will share the test results with you.
Outlook: the backgroudimage disappear in the email body and there is no one attachment being sent in the email.
Hotmail: the backgroudimage disappear in the email body, however, the backgroundimage being sent as one attachment in the email.
163: the backgroudimage displays in the email body and the backgroundimage being sent as one attachment in the email.
Based on previous test results, we can conclude that: these different scenarios caused by the settings of the email rather than Reporting Services.
If you are using Outlook, I would recommend you submit one thread in this Outlook forum,
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/outlook/threads.
In this forum, you can get more professional support about how to set the Outlook.

• SSRS - A Subreport background image is overridden by background image of parent report

Hello. I have a background image on my parent report and a different background image for my sub reports. The background image of my sub reports are instead inheriting the background image of the parent report. I've researched and found nobody talking about
this. All my images are embedded.
Is there away around this?
Thanks,
James
James

For both the parent report and the sub report, I right clicked the Images folder in the Report Data section and embedded the images in the rdl. The parent report has an embedded image called watermark. The child report has an embedded image called subreportwatermark.
In the parent report, I added the following to the report properties:
In the child report, I added the following to the body properties:
Yes, I use an expression to determine whether to use the watermark or nothing based on a field of a dataset as you see above in both Value properties of both the report properties of the parent report and the body properties of the child sub report.
If I run the sub report only in the BIDS solution for a child row that has Y for watermark value, the sub report's subreportwatermark does show.
If I run the sub report only in the BIDS solution for a child row that has N for watermark value, the watermark does not show.
So far so good.
If I run the parent report in the BIDS solution for a parent row that has Y for watermark value, I don't get what I
expect. Here is the scenario. Five pages are produced. One for the parent, and one each for the sub report.
Parent Row - Watermark Y
Child Row 1 - Watermark Y
Child Row 1 - Watermark N
Child Row 1 - Watermark N
Child Row 1 - Watermark Y
What I expect to see.
Page 1 - Parent Report's watermark should display.
Page 2 - Child Sub Report's subreportwatermark should display.
Page 3 - Child Sub Report's - No watermark at all.
Page 4 - Child Sub Report's subreportwatermark should display.
Page 5 - Child Sub Report's - No watermark at all.
To be clear. I should NEVER expect to see the parent report's watermark on pages 2 - 5.
What was the actual result? This is what I see in BIDS when I click the preview tab in
Print Layout.
Page 1 - Parent Report's watermark displayed.
Page 2 - Child Sub Report - Parent Report's watermark displayed.
Page 3 - Child Sub Report - Parent Report's watermark displayed.
Page 4 - Child Sub Report - Parent Report's watermark displayed.
Page 5 - Child Sub Report - Parent Report's watermark displayed.
This is what I see in BIDS when I click the preview tab in View
Layout.
Page 1 - Parent Report. No watermark displays.
Page 2 - Child Sub Report - Child Report's subreportwatermark displayed.
Page 3 - Child Sub Report - No watermark.
Page 4 - Child Sub Report - Child Report's subreportwatermark displayed.
Page 5 - Child Sub Report - No watermark.
Both the print layout and view layout is wrong. What matters is what prints or is saved to a pdf. What prints and gets saved to a PDF is the Print Layout view.

• Can we resize and change the background image in a 2 page layout?

I am a two page layout report in RTF. Can I use different background image on page 1 and page 2? The first page background will not be repeated but the second page will. Also, it seems when we insert a background image by going "Format -> Background -> Fill effect -> Picture", after we finished the whole process we can't get the background image to fit with the page, can we resize it to be fit with the page? Thanks for your help!

Yes. Select the image and go to the Inspector/Hyperlink/Link pane and use the Link to One of my Pages option.
Remember: the photo must be added to the page by dragging it onto the page and then be selected. It can't be added as a background image with the Inspector/Page/Layout pane.

• Weird issue with background image (Safari)

Just wonder if anyone can shed any light on this one....
Basically have a design in progress here:
http://www.hpwebdesign.co.uk/rachelworrall/index101.php
All was fine until I added the three images that fade into one another using the Ultimate Fade In slideshow script ( http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm )
When the page is initially loaded in Safari (5), the top section of the background image doesn't display - it starts just beneath the main content below the navigation.
The weird part is that it literally only takes a click of the mouse outside that Safari window to make it appear. A refresh, however, won't.
It seems fine in Firefox on a Mac, and the client didn't report any issue in IE.
Can anyone with Safari have a quick look and replicate that glitch? If not, then it might just be some weird local issue here.
Many thanks.

I've put up a couple of screenshots here:
http://www.hpwebdesign.co.uk/rachelworrall/screenshots.htm
Its like that in Safari 5.0.3 (and 5.0.4 which I've just updated.)
Again, it literally just needs a click out of the Safari window to make it appear correctly as per the second screenshot.
Its like this on a 27" iMac, but had a look on the macbook, and its fine on there.
So if it looks OK with anyone else, I'm just going to put it down to a weird glitch on my machine here.

• Image in Report from FileSystem

I have Reports 6i, my report is dislaying photos(JPEG) reading from file system,
I am calling this report from FORMS and it is directly printing report output to printer.
But while reading some image files(JPEG) report gives an error (file format not valid) and could'nt print.
I want to trap this condition in report so that if it finds some invalid file format then it should ignore the image but print other data. Please reply [email protected]

Please ignore this thread. Has resolved. Removed both images and put the background image first and recreate the database image on top of file system image later, so it works now.
The solution (just in case) is remove both images and recreate them in the order, i.e the background image first and the foreground image later.
Cheers
