Background Image in SharePoint 2013

Hi,
Whenever I add a background image in SharePoint 2013, approx. 99% of the background image has an automatic overlay applied; some form of automatic transparency, so that the image is more like a watermark.
Oddly, at the bottom of the page, there is about 40px visible of the true image, with no overlay applied.
How can I remove this default transparency, so that the background image displays as it should?

Hi Dan,
If you have SharePoint designer 2013, Then go To >> All Files >> _themes >> Search there for COREV15."blablabla" i think you got 2 files named COREV15 but try to search in one of these items to body {} or try to do "crtl + f" and
find "background colour" or search on "transparent"

Hi Rambautista (and maybe others with the same problem),
in order to avoid the automatic downsizing of the image by SharePoint you just need to change the existing CSS file or create a new one. I chose the second and did the following:
First of all you need to adjust the settings on your SharePoint page. For that, go to Site Settings and enable both
SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in 'Site Collection Features' and
SharePoint Server Publishing in 'Manage site features'.
Once you did that, head to Site Assets on your SharePoint page and click on 'Library'. At the column 'Connect & Export' you can find the option "Open with Explorer". By clicking that button you open the Side Asset Folder and there you create
a new CSS file (for example with Notepad). In that file you now write:
.ms-backgroundImage{
background-image:url(" <insert the link of the image you want as background, it should be listed in
Sharepoint Site Asset> ");
Finally you insert the alternate CSS url in 'Site Settings' - 'Master Page' - 'Alternate CSS url' by clicking
Specify a CSS file to be used by this site and all sites that inherit from it and browsing to your new CSS file in Site Assets.
This should solve the problem as from now on you have your own uploaded picture as the source of the background image and not the downsized copy. (Of course you should nonetheless use a image size appropriate for the site.)

Well, you could upload a picture of the color you want where you would upload a background picture in change the look from the Gear drop down.
Other wise you can add this css
.ms-core-overlay {background-color:#####;}
Are you aware that you can change the look and feel in the site settings?

I have a requirement in which we are required to have an Image of the whole SharePoint 2013 environment, (ideally single server installation/standalone as I believe multi-tier would not be possible, or if possible suggest on that also), with all the installations
done- SQL server, SharePoint , language pack if any, App configured, search, service applications, etc etc. so that if at all required we would have that image in a server and provide that image to the developer, he would either mount it or run it and start
the SharePoint 2013 App development.
Please suggest on this.

Not for imaging purposes.
You could have an environment that is ready-to-go with the bits installed, but not configured. You would then have a post-imaging script that would configure the farm. In this process, you would also need to make sure SQL Server was aware of the server's

Office Web App 2013 : Compatibility issue after opening a word document with image from sharepoint 2013

Uploaded a word doucment in sharepoint 2013 and When we open it in WebApp2013 then following compatibilty warning is reflecting.
"Compatibility Mode Functionality is currently limited"

Is there a way I can add be background image to my sharepoint site with look and feel?

Whenever i add any background image with "look and feel" it stretches the image. I've tried modifying the CSS file (in body and tried .ms-backgroundImage setting "background-size:inherit !important;") to fix it, but it doesn't seem to
have any effect. I there anyway i can add a background image to the master html or css code and get it to not stretch?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add background image to sharepoint site with look and feel.
We can define the Image Url in the Composed looks (Site Settings > Web Designer Galleries > Composed looks) to add background.
However, the image will be stretched to fill the viewport at 100%.
Though we can override the CSS attributes which would allow the image to repeat, but instead I recommend to go the no CSS route and switched the background to a much larger one that would fill the viewport nicely without looking pixelated.

Browse button not working in Windows Phone while tyring to upload an image to Pictures library in Sharepoint 2013 online site .

I am trying to upload an image to SharePoint 2013 online site's Pictures Library from the Windows phone. When I click on Browse button, nothing happens. Although the same browse button in working in the chrome and allowing to select an image from the
phone library.

be some compatibility issues during the process.

Background image of custom master page just shows for 1 second.

Hi,
I have created a custom master page from a html code and I have applied to it on my site collection, but when I open it on the web browser the background image just show up for a second or less and then the background turns white.
I'll aprecciate any suggestions in order to solve this.

According to your post, my understanding is that Background image of custom master page just shows for 1 second.
I recommend to change the class to use .main-content.
.main-content
background-color:#F4F2E5;
background: url('/Style%20Library/Images/image.png');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-;
You can also use a contol called cssregistration. Add a line that looks something like this, right below the existing csslink:
< SharePoint:CssLink runat="server" Version="4" /> (under this you add:)
< SharePoint:CssRegistration runat="server" name="/Style%20Library/Scripts/style.css" After="coreV4.css" />

Power Pivot 2013 Using SharePoint 2013 List as Source Data

Background: On a SharePoint 2013 site, there are lists that have the exact same columns but due to their size I had to create a different list for each year.
These are essentially my data lists or tables that end users enter data into. These lists have look up columns in them, referencing columns from look up lists or tables located on the same site.
Goals:
1) Create a Power Pivot Gallery on SharePoint 2013 that is able to leverage the "manage data refresh" feature using the SharePoint 2013 List data that is on the same SharePoint 2013 site.
2) Combine all the data lists/tables into one table once in Power Pivot 2013. The Look Up lists/tables will remain separate.
Challenge: Being able to merge or do a union query to the "data lists" and still maintain the ability to leverage the "manage data refresh" feature.
This is a tactical, quick fix solution, and I
cannot use SQL Server and am operating under the assumption that I do not have Access Services 2013 as an option.
Failed Attempt #1: What I already tried was linking the lists to an Access 2013 database and did a Union query from Power Pivot which merged the data from the different data tables
as I wanted it to. Then I uploaded that Access Database to a document library on that same site, thinking that I could maintain the ability to leverage the "manage data refresh" feature but I was wrong.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

You can connect to SharePoint Lists using Power Query (and of course Union multiple Lists and more using Pwer Query) - but Automatic refresh would not work with SharePoint. Power BI (Cloud service) allows auto refresh of Power Query, but not on SharePoint.

Data refresh in background for an Excel workbook published on a SharePoint 2013 site

Hi,
I've created a site to publish some Excel workbooks on a SharePoint 2013 farm with Excel Services.
I'd like to run in background the data refresh against the cube connected to Excel, so when the end user will open the workbook he already will see the updated data without any waiting times.
How can I solve this issue, please?
Keep attention: I don't talk about PowerPivot for SharePoint.

unattended service account for authentication to external data, in order to refresh the excel data?

Hi i am using Sharepoint 2013 online Office 365. In my search page i can view the preview from picture library. But when i am searching document library i can only see the preview of pdf, excel, word etc... not image. Why image file not previewing from

SharePoint 2013 Client Object Model fetch image rendition info

Below is the scenario I am trying with SharePoint 2013 managed client object model.
FrontEnd: ASP.Net web application
BackEnd: SharePoint 2013.
I have a publishing image with rendition applied and I am able to fetch the image URL like "/{site}/{lib}/{imagename}?RenditionId={id}".
I am able to download the file "/{site}/{lib}/{imagename}" using File.OpenBinaryDirect()
This is giving the original file without any renditions applied. If I use the same method with URL "/{site}/{lib}/{imagename}?RenditionId={id}", it gives me 400 Bad request error.
I have also tried using file.OpenBinaryStream() method with URL "/{site}/{lib}/{imagename}?RenditionId={id}" whichi still gives the original file without rendition
Please let me know how to fetch the below info using the rendition id?

SourceImageHeight;
CropStartX;
CropStartY;
CropWidth;
CropHeight;
Alternatively, let me know if I could get the download file with rendition applied without requiring the above attributes.
Note: I am looking for solutions in client side programming (client object model/ web services (REST) . The server object model has classes "ImageRenditionCollection" and "ImageRendition" which can provide the above image info.

How to have profile thumbnails image appear in a SharePoint 2013 list?

Hello,
I am not using MySites, but have a SharePoint 2013 list with profiles in them. They were imported from Active Directory, where I do have thumbnail images for each profile. I am using SharePoint 2013. How would I get these images from AD
into the SharePoint list? I have the attribute setup in User Profiles Synchronization, but the images did not show up. I followed these steps in this posting, but I did not do the PowerShell step, since I am not using MySites.
