Background Images not showing up in template-based pages
For some reason, whenever I make a custom .dwt template, with
background images for things such as buttons, on my newly created
page, the background images do not show up. Anyone know why? Thanks
for the help in advance.
Best you start here:
http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmattsworld.mooretecproductions.co m%2F
55 code errors. Yikes!
Fix those and then see if the problem goes away. If not, post
back. At lease
with clean code we may be able to spot the problem.

Background image not showing up in BC
Rookie here.
I locally developed an index page with a background image in the <body> div. Worked fine locally. When I connected it to BC the background is now white instead of the image. The background shows up in the css. Here is the link:
http://century21print.businesscatalyst.com/index.html
Doyou need anything else.
Thanks for the help!You need to revise you background url!
This is what you have
background-image:url(file:///P|/websites2/century21print/images/AbstractLightRays.jpg);
it should be something like
background-image:url(/images/AbstractLightRays.jpg);
that 'file:///P|...' is not right! -

www.gratefulcreative.comYou have no width or height set for that element so it can not show an image unless you make the div at least the same size as the image.
<div style="background-image:url(http://www.gratefulcreative.com/Andre_Madiz/images/bottom_text.png);ba ckground-repeat:no-repeat; width:871px; height:483px;">
You may also want to consider adding this to your main css file and giving the div an id which will help you out in the future. -
Background image not showing up in generated FlashHelp
I have added a background image (.jpeg) to my help
project´s style sheet. The image shows up in the style
sheet´s preview, the WYSIWYG window and even ctrl+W previewed
help; but when I generate the entire project, it is nowhere to be
found. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!Hi uds
You may wish to try adding the image to your list of Baggage
Files. Just right-click the Baggage Files folder in your Project
Explorer pane and add the image.
Give that a go and see if it helps... Rick -

MattThanks for the replies Nancy O. and Murray.
It's been so long since I did this hack (for FireFox), I don't remember anything about it.
I believe I should delete lines 80 & 81, and leave everything else, right?:
-moz-border-radius: 20px;

Is there anything else I need to do?
Murray, where did you get this code?:

Background image not showing behind text
At the moment I am using a table as I haven´t yet found
out how to make the same effect in css. I have a background image
style="BACKGROUND: url(images/box_bg.gif) repeat-x" in a td which
for some reason is overridden by the text so the background of the
text is white not the background image. The webpage where it can be
seen is
http://www.britishalliance.com/test.html
Thanks a lotThat's b/c you've set the background color:
.ftforminput {
BACKGROUND: #ffffff; COLOR: #c03; FONT-FAMILY:
Verdana,Arial, Helvetica;
FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-WEIGHT: bold
}Take out the background, you'll be fine."Hydrowizard"

Why are my background images not showing up?
The table is split into two, and I want 2 background images
sitting in them so I can write type over them (which is already
there).
I know how to do this with divs, but have never done it to a
table (I no longer use tables for web page layout).
The two images are supposed to be at the bottom of this page
behind "Robert R. Smith, Jr. - Rock Drummer" and "Contact Me".
What have I done wrong and how do I make these two images
appear?

You're mixing up HTML and CSS code. Your code:
<td width="125"
background-image="url(../images/bottom_art_right.jpg)"
style="padding-top: 90px;">
Should be either:
<td width="125"
background="../images/bottom_art_right.jpg" style="padding-top:
90px;">
Or (my preference):
#leftblock {
background-image : url(../images/bottom_art_right.jpg);
style="padding-top: 90px;
<td id="leftblock">

Why are background images not showing in pdf?
You see the strawberries for a second when the pdf first opens then they disappear. We use pc's here at work. XP. Most files do come from mac users.I review packaging files before they print. I did install reader xi. My boss is using a pc laptop but not having this issue.
Have you checked Edit>Preferences>Page display>Page content and information to be sure that "Show large images" is checked?

Background image displays locally in HTML5 template but not when published
I have used an excellent HTML5 template which uses JavaScript to display background images. However while this file works locally it doesn't when published. The site structure is sound and I notice this happens with the source files I downloaded also so it's nothing I have done in my build which could have caused this.
This is the link to my site, everything is fine except the background image not showing.
http://www.khawkinsdesign.com
Any ideas, as I say fine locally, not fine when published?
Message was edited by: Kyle HawkinsHi Kyle,
I realise you posted your question a couple of days ago but it looks like your background image issue may now be fixed?
In any case, your site has a few issues. Not sure who told you the template was HTML 5 but they might be yanking your chain. There is nothing HTML 5 about the code used and the DOCTYPE is from HTML 4. As such, some of the code you have used is throwing up errors - some related to the DOCTYPE and some where you haven't closed the tags:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.khawkinsdesign.com%2F&charset=%28detect +automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
<ul id="footer-nav">
<li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="portfolio.html">Portfolio</a></li>
<li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> /*The closing tag is missing in your code */
<li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> /*The closing tag is missing in your code */
</ul>
It would be best to amend the errors but some might disappear when you add the HTML 5 DOCTYPE in to your code. Things like your lack of "type" on the sources is a required v4 attribute, but not in v5.
<!DOCTYPE html>
Have a read through this for more info - this is a great resource for everything HTML 5. http://diveintohtml5.info/
Rik
EDIT:// It seems that the DOCTYPE is the 5 version on all but the home page so you may only have one to correct. However, there are still no HTML 5 elements used to take advantage of the new DOCTYPE. -
Another Images not Showing up thread
I know there are multiple threads out there about images not showing up on the login page of application express, and I have browsed most of them without success.
My images folder is in:
C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\images\
My dads.conf file has specified:
Alias /i/ "C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\images\"
Address of missing image in I.E. is:
http://<host>:7777/i/htmldb/apex_logo.gif
When I ran @apexins I specified /i/ for the virtual images directory.
I am running Oracle Database 10gR2, with Oracle HTTP Server that came with the Oracle Database 10g Companion CD Release 2.
I am using APEX 3.2.
When I try to go to
http://<host>:7777/i/
I get:
You don't have permission to access /i/ on this server.
I also cannot login to APEX. When I type my username/password and click the Login button, it does nothing (nothing loads, nothing changes... nothing happens). I don't know if this is related?
Thank you,
~TomI found the problem -
In my dads.conf file I had:
Alias /i/ "C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\images\"
When I really needed:
Alias /i/ "C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\images/"
Note the end slash after images changed from backslash to forward.
Silly me. -
Spry Bug? Background Colors/Images not showing in IE6/XpP
I'm trying to wrap up my site for MiniMAX SE7EN (Cheap plug,
it's on 6/26 in DC) and I've got a Spry Accordion Component I used
in Dreamweaver CS3 to display all the speakers and then I switched
the CSS file to allow for different colors and a background image
to show through. Seems fine in Firefox and IE7 but in IE6 for PC's,
it appears black and only black. Is this a Spry bug or something I
screwed up with regarding the CSS?
http://www.minimaxconference.com/I am having the same problems in IE7. I'm using the latest
version of everything (Spry 1.6.1 and javascript file version 0.12)
and at first I was having the problem on my drop down menus
appearing horizontal with all the correct styles but when I changed
the rule ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul to position: relative; the drop
downs appear vertical now but I have no beige border around the
whole ul anymore and I'm getting white space inbetween list items.
http://www.wusf.usf.edu/Header_Nav_Footer_newStyleSheet.cfm
so if anyone has any advice I'd much appreciate it. Also i'm
using 1px width on my borders no decimals. -
Background Image Not Visible in Browser
I have searched the forum but I'm not finding a solution that
works.
I'm trying to put a background .png image in a header. It
shows up in Dreamweaver but not in preview mode. I have an external
style sheet that contains this:
.twoColFixRtHdr #header {
background-repeat: no-repeat;
height: 126px;
width: 770px;
padding: 0;
background-position: left top;
margin: 0px;
background-image: url(assets/pictures/banner_3.png);
My page contains the following:
<div id="header">
<h1 class="banner_title_top">Text</h1>
<h1><span class="banner_title_bottom">Text
</span>
<!-- end #header -->
</h1>
The ".twoColFixRtHdr" is coming from the fact that I'm using
a pre-made Dw CSS layout.
Any help is very appreciated.

Background does not show up when creating a PDF in InDesign
I have placed the same image in Illustrator and the PDF does show up the image.
Ooh. Ok. Thank you! I'm using InDesign CS5.5, Acrobat 10.1.6. Mac OSX (10.6.8).
Layer 1: background (TIFF): does not show up
Layer 2: Type and logos (EPS): do show up in my pdf.
-When I select Overprint Preview in Indesign the background is missing.
-I have created pdfs in different presets (smallest, high quality, etc) and still background does not show up.
-When I place ONLY the background on a new InDesign document, it does show up in the PDF.
-I have created a pdf with the background in Illustrator and it does show in my PDF.

Gradient filled background is not showing up in Internet Explorer on a PC.
My gradient filled background is not showing up in Internet Explorer on a PC.
I'm working on a MAC, so I don't know of anyway to preview a new MUSE Site in I.E. since it's no longer supported on a Mac.
When the Home Page is viewed, my blue sky gradient background shows up as a white box?? I need a fix for this please.
Here is my url: www.ThanksSanta.orgHello,
We might have to look into your .muse file to have a better look into the issue.
I tried it on a sample file but it worked fine for me.
Could you please e-mail your .muse file on [email protected] You can use Adobe SendNow service (https://sendnow.acrobat.com/) to send your file in case it is larger than 20MB.
Please do not forget to mention the link to this forum in your e-mail.
