Background in slideshow...

Hello wise ones,
Is it possible to put a fixed background image in my slide show? In the slideshow timeline i see there are more than one video tracks but i can only activate one... is there a way?

A slideshow is essentially a track (or title) - you can convert slideshows to be a 'track' if you need. However, the additional 'v' streams you see in the timeline are for alternate angles - you can't use them for additional layers as you might in an app such as FCP... DVDs don't work that way.
What you'll need to do is build the slideshow in Final Cut and set in the background that you want. Export this to MPEG2 and import it in to DVDSP, placing it in a track.

    Hi Joseph,
The only option I know of changing the background color is when you export an Album as a Quicktime file.

  • Abstract Background for SlideShows

Several questions have come up on how to handle vertical images in a SlideShow. As our video Frame is a horizontal rectangle, to some degree, or another, what does one do with those vertical images - the ones that looked so good, printed and hanging on the wall?
There are several basic ways to handle them:
1.) Crop a horizontal portion from the vertical image (sometimes works, and sometimes does not
2.) Allow black bars around the vertical image and size it so that its height equals the height of the Frame (can be OK, but not really what we usually want)
3.) Create a "background" that fills the horizontal Frame, and then overlay the vertical image onto that, as in #2, but with no black bars.
Personally, I like #3, followed by #1, when I can crop. One can even have some fun with the "background" image. I go for an abstraction and usually will "soften" its look by reducing the contrast, saturation and probably a good dose of blur. All I want is something to fill the black bar spaces. HERE is a mini-tutorial that I did for animating the "creation" of an abstract background image to use with vertical (and horizontal, though they take up the entire screen, so you do not see the background behind them) images in a SlideShow.
    Hope that this helps someone,
    Hunt

So it was a path issue  :-)  Glad you sorted it .

  • No /Transparent Background on slideshow PSE 7

On PSE7 Can you create a slideshow and have a transparent background? Instead of having to choose a color? So you can superimpose the slideshow on to something else?

This happens with all Jpegs but haven't tried other formats. Will try others to see what it does.!!

  • Music Background in Slideshow

I have taken the Flash Slideshow template and altered it to
fit my design. I would like to add three songs to play continuously
in the background. The problem is, I can only loop one song at a
time. How can I loop three songs to play as long as the slideshow
    is running?

    Jed:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you repair disk permissions after each of the updater were run? It's important that it be done after any software installation or update. I'd give it another go and see if that helps. Also Terence's question regarding Quicktime is important.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why a background fullscreen slideshow covers everything else?

Ciao, I'm building a folio with InDesign CC 2014 on a Mac. I've created pages with the Slideshow overlay in full screen on an iPad, then I've added another layer with the text: this should be a text with a swipe-to-slideshow under it. Why does the slideshow appear like there was anything else on the page? the multi-state object is the only thing I see, and cannot see the text above.
    Thanks for helping on this!
    Mauro

They are called overlays for a reason. They overlay static content.
If you want the text to appear above the slideshow convert it to a slideshow as well. Set it to autoplay once with no crossfade and no delay.

  • Is there a way to export a slideshow to JPEG without a background?

Hi, I'm using LR4 to do a basic sign with many text overlays on a background image in Slideshow.  I would like to export this image as a jpeg and then print it as an 8x10 to put in a frame.  However, when I export the slideshow to jpeg or PDF, I'm getting the black background behind the image.  I have nothing checked in the "Backdrop" menu on the right hand side.  Is there any way to remove this background in slideshow?  Is there a way to do this in another module instead?  I want more than just a watermark so didn't think Print was the right way to go.
Example of my print preview below with black background.

Looks like you won't need to use the Develop module–Follow the below instructions
    1) An 8" x 10"  image with 300 ppi resolution = 2400 x 3000 pixel dimensions. Make sure your background image has at least that resolution or higher!
    2) Next from inside the LR Slideshow module drag the 'Top' guide all the up so the image fills the frame vertically:
    3) Next go to 'Export JPEG Slideshow' and manually enter Width = 2400 & Height= 3000. The exported Slideshow JPEG should be perfectly cropped and sized providing the original background image is 8x10 aspect ratio:
    4) You are ready to make your print!
    P.S. Please excuse my typo showing 3000 x 24000 it should read 3000 x 2400!

  • Change background color in slide show

How can I change the background in slideshow from white to black?

I think that the white colored photo templates may have slideshow backgrounds that are white, and black colored photo templates may have slideshow backgrounds that are black. If it is easy enough for you to drag your photos to a black photo template, that would be the first thing I would recommend that you try.
Otherwise, the background color of the Apple slideshow seems to be controlled by a CSS file that is provided by the .Mac server. Remember that the slideshow function is .Mac only...this is because several of the resources are resident on the .Mac servers. If you want to make changes to the color of the background, I understand that it is necessary to override the CSS settings by adding another file after publishing (and everytime you republish). Here is a previous thread that sheds some light about the topic...

  • I want to use CSS style - background-size:cover;

in my animation. The responsive settings dont allow for this effect anywhere so I was thinking of putting it in the _edge.js file but, I'm assuming, becasue the Stage is the parent it will fill but distort with the Stage?
I've watched the flexible design videos for Edge and Edge preview but neither cover the effect I want which is use in the Cod Drops example:
    http://tympanus.net/codrops/2012/01/02/fullscreen-background-image-slideshow-with-css3/
Would a separate CSS file work?
    Cheers
    Bret

You can use a separate css file, though if you go this route it's preferable to use the append method at the Stage > compositionReady event handler.
    Example
    ////////// Stage > compositionReady///////////////////
    $("head").append("<link id='mycss' href='style.css' type='text/css' rel='stylesheet' />");
Directly editing the .html file and placing a reference to an external .css file will be overwritten everytime you open it in Edge Animate.
The above snippet will help resolve that.

  • Frequent and chronic Slowness on Late 2009 21.5" iMac, Issues with Display, Fan, and Booting

    Hello,
Sorry for the repost, but I realized after the edit period had passed that I left out a lot of information from my original post, and that I misrepresented my problem in the question heading. Because of this, I am posting again with the updated information.
I  am using a 21.5" iMac from Late 2009 with OSX Mavericks 10.9.2.  Recently, I have been experiencing several signs of failure/aging during  use:
    Frequent:
Mail.app slow opening, closing; messages opened in large batches do not get marked as read
Terminal.app experiences noticeable lag when opening (it sometimes takes between 5 and 20 seconds between launching the application and getting an active prompt)
Processes lag or become unresponsive, even when not many applications are running
Browswers frequently become unresponsive, pinwheel, or lag considerably, frequently requiring a force-quit.
    Mouse Pinwheels Frequently
    Intermittent
Computer  generates loudly audible fan noises, persists even when computer is  briefly powered off during a reboot; does not always stop after  rebooting
    Finder often becomes unresponsive
    Rare (one time only)
Machine  powered on in "Safe Boot" mode for no apparant reason; red text reading  "Safe Boot" in menu bar of login screen; background picture slideshow  mode became very glitchy, phased and flashed in horizontal grey bars  before loading next background image
    Chronic (Consistently Happens)
Machine  will not boot if plugged into normal powerpoint after being unplugged  from that power-point; cable must be plugged into a different A/C power  outlet for machine to boot, at which point it can be switched off again,  moved back to the original dedicated outlet, and booted again. This has  never failed to happen, and is mind-boggling.
I followed some instructions from a similar thread,  but I felt that my experiences were sufficiently different that I  couldn't troubleshoot from someone else's solution. I would greatly  appreciate any technical advice and help that the community can offer.

This indicates that your Bootcamp partition is still FAT, which also indicates that the Windows Installer has not been used to reformat it to NTFS yet, as required by Windows Installer. No Windows installation exists yet.
2: If I don't hold down option key with my USB plugged in, it gives me a black screen saying "Non-system disk, press any key to reboot". My keyboard is unresponsive. I have to hard shut down my computer.
The NVRAM in the Mac (as set by Bootcamp Assistant) is telling it to boot from the built-in Optical drive. Is it fully functional and has Windows Installer media in it or broken? Since no drivers have been loaded, the Keyboard/Mouse which are BT/USB, will not function.
From iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009) - Technical Specifications, it has a built-in Optical drive...
    Optical drive
    Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Writes DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL discs at up to 4x speed
Writes DVD-R and DVD+R discs at up to 8x speed
Writes DVD-RW discs at up to 6x speed and DVD+RW discs at up to 8x speed
Reads DVDs at up to 8x speed
Writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed
Writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed
Reads CDs at up to 24x speed
3: If I don't hold down option key and it is without my USB plugged in, it gives me a black screen saying "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". My keyboard is, again, unresponsive. I have to hard shut down my computer.
No bootable media in Optical drive, hence this error.

  • Late 2009 21.5" iMac has a chronically noisy fan.

After experiencing slowness on my iMac when browsing the web, checking email, and opening terminal prompts, I decided to upgrade from 4gb of RAM to 8gb. This has made the slowness less of a problem, but I am still experiencing other erratic behaviors. For no apparant reason, the fan sometimes starts running very noisily, even during computer sleep and sometimes even during the entire duration of the reboot process. Here is the EtreCheck diagnostic dump for my iMac:

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.
    P.S.
Prior to the RAM upgrade, I was experiencing several other issues, which I have not reproduced but cannot verify that they are fixed.

Could be a bad memory problem or an issue with Parallels. Try booting into Safe Mode and see if the panics cease.

  • Picture quality deteriorates

I just made three short films on iMovie, which I imported into iDVD and burned to a single DVD. But when I play the DVD, the picture quality is fine for the first few minutes, then deteriorates, the picture becoming pixellated and the text being hard to read (two of these three 'films' are in fact a series of still images with subtitles and music in the background, ie slideshows).
The two slideshows both deteriorate in the same way, but the third film (actual moving pictures) doesn't, although it is shorter at just 3 mins long, the slideshows being 5mins long.
I have to show this film at a big ceremony tomorrow so am getting near panic and would appreciate any help! Thanks.
I recorded the Project on PAL 4:3 Best Quality.

PS I should add that the picture quality is fine when played in iMovie

    Hi,
The site you have shared also has the bottom part of the background image/slideshow hidden behind the footer bar - and that is the behavior that Muse fullscreen slideshow exhibits.
You can use a standard slideshow at 100% flexible width with a fixed height but then it won't stretch or contract vertically in response to browser.
    Thanks,
    Vikas
