Background job stoppped in client export
Dear all,
I am trying to do client export form one SAP system to other SAP system. I sheduled the client export process in background job,it was running for long time.
Now when i check in sm50 the BGD process is been stopped , but in scc3 it shows its processing.
What is the necessary steps i need to start the job without stopping it.
Kindly Guide me.
Regards,
Rakesh
Hi ,
I resheduled the process, once again i am getting the same error.
My Background job is been stopped after few minutes.
The reason is RFC in background. But i had defined the RFC between the two systems clearly and my customizing and workbench transports is working fine.
Kindly guide me ,
Regards,
Rakesh.

Scheduled Background jobs after Client Copy
Hello,
I've been doing some searching online and I don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer to this question:
Are background jobs client specific?
I've seen some discussions on here say some are and some are not. I've also seen a discussion that says ALL background jobs are client specific.
It's really related to non-SAP background jobs after a client copy.
If I have a client 100 in QA with half a dozen non-SAP standard jobs configured, and I create client 110 in QA and perform a remote client copy from PROD into client 110 on QA, will my non-SAP standard backgrounds run in Client 110, or do I need to set them all up again?
ThanksHello All
If I have a client 100 in QA with half a dozen non-SAP standard jobs configured, and I create client 110 in QA and perform a remote client copy from PROD into client 110 on QA, will my non-SAP standard backgrounds run in Client 110, or do I need to set them all up again?
Yes. You will need to set those non standard jobs in the new client. When you schedule a job there will be a reference to the client where the job will be executed is stored under AUTHCKMAN in the table TBTCO. If the job is scheduled periodically then the job is executed only on the client where it is scheduled.
I used SAP_ALL profile when performing the client copy. So my scheduled jobs WILL have been copied along with everything else? Is that correct?
In SAP_ALL profile the background jobs will be coming from source client not from QA client 100.
No. Background jobs are not transportable and will not be copied during a client copy. Job definitions are client independent.
Read these SAP notes.
31503 - FAQ: Background jobs
51135 - Why are bkgd processing jobs not generally transportable?
If you want to schedule those jobs in the new client the follow the suggestion in the SAP note 3150 point 6.

Is there a way to import SAP background jobs from one client to another? In SM37, there ia an option to export the job, but I don't see an option to import it.
ThanksHi,
The 'export' option you see is just a possibility to export to Excel the table of jobs in the selection.

How to change file type when exporting a report with a background job
Hi,
I've set up a background job in SM36 to execute a SAP Query I've created, set to send the results as a file to an external email address. When it arrives the file is a .htm (and it seems to cut out after a few pages of data), but I'd like it to export as a .xls, .txt or .csv.
I've checked the job, the query and my user settings, but I can't find where the change the file extension used - can anyone please tell me how to do it?
Thanks,
TimHi Shiva,
Can you please confirm where in SQ01/2 the file path information / settings are?

EXPORT - IMPORT in BACKGROUND JOB
Hello ABAP Gurus,
There are two programs I am using.
In 1st Program I am Exporting the Data to the ABAP Memory and then after that scheduling the second program in background from 1st Program through
1 ) JOB_OPEN
2 ) SUBMIT
3 ) JOB_CLOSE
Now I am trying to Import the data that is Exported in the second program which is scheduled in background.
But I am not able to Import it.
My question is that - Does EXPORT - IMPORT Statements works in such scenario when background job is scheduled.
As it is working fine if, I only submits and does not put in the Background JOB.
Looking forward for the answer.
Helpful answers will definately be awarded.
Thanks in Advance
Sudhanshu GargHi Sudhanshu,
Export/import to memory uses ABAP memory which will not be accessible by the background job.
No need of creating the structures in dictionary
You can use the Table INDX for storing your data in the database.
See the link below for an example.

Export to MS Access in background job
Hi,
is it possible in ABAP to export data to MS Access file (.mdb) in background job?
We have an idea to run external program in RFC mode in .NET - but it requires to have WIndows installed on external machine which is not good.
/BR / Thank you>We have an idea to run external program in RFC mode in .NET - but it requires to >have WIndows installed on external machine which is not good.
Seems to me the only viable solution. Otherwise, create your output as a flat file written somewhere on the server (or where the server can see or ftp to), and have your Access app pick it up from there.

Hello All,
I have a requirement to send/export the background job spool in Excel (in MHTML format) in ECC 6.0. Please help.
Thank you.
NaliniHi Jigar,
Thanks for your response.
Anything is like download to desktop or email is fine. But in MHTML format.
We can download the ALV report in MHTML spreadsheet format when we run the program online. But the program is running for long time and going to dump.
So i scheduled it as background job and downloading the output in .HTML format. But user wants the spool/report output in .MHTML spreadsheet format.
I can write the code. Instead of changing the existing program I would like to know is there any way (from standard SAP) that I can get the background spool in MHTML spreadsheet format.
Thanks,
Nalini -
Background jobs pointing to old client after client copy
Hello
We have recently completed system refresh from PROD system to TEST system.
We have created new client in new TEST system. Background jobs are copied properly from old client to new client.
But all these jobs are pointing to old client only. We have deleted old client.
Hence all these jobs get cancelled.
How shall I change the client of all the jobs from old to new one.

What client is background job running in?
Hello all,
Is there a way to tell which client a background job listed in SM37 is running in? Can't seem to find that information in the job nor any tables. I thought that you could only see the jobs that are running in the client you are logged onto too but that's not the case.
Thanks,
TomHi,
For checking the client for particular background job which is runnig can be cheked by.
Go to SM37- enter the particular job name and the details eg: username and the job start and end condition. Execute this.
Now on top go to Setting->Layout->Change Layout->
On right side u can find the hidden fields-select client from that and bring it to change layout ie. left part. and press copy.
This will change the layout of ur report and u can see the client number for that particular background job running.
U can do this by using * also while mentioning the jobname. This way you do not have to open every job to find out.
Hope this will be of some help.
Thanks

Export of report/query to a file for background job runs
I have a requirement to automate the export of a report or query to a file so when a background job runs a new file is generated to the drive.
This cannot be a customized solution for 1 report, it must be able to adapt to other reports or queries as well.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you,
ThaminaHi,
SAP have created a standard program RSTXPDFT4 to convert your Sapscripts spools into a PDF format.
Specify the spool number and you will be able to download the sapscripts spool into your local harddisk.
It look exactly like what you see during a spool display.
Please note that it is not restricted to sapsciprts spool only. Any reports in the spool can be converted using the program 'RSTXPDFT4'.

Write the Error log from background Job to the Spool request
Hi ,
I have a situation where in i need to capture the error log of a Z program which runs as a background job and write that log into the spool request. My Z program calls runs RSEINB00 program using the SUBMIT statement. When this Job fails the error log can be seen in SM37. But i need this error log to be sent in to a spool.
I can read the error log using the BP_JOBLOG_READ FM and can also create a spool using the RSPO_SPOOL_OPEN FM.
The problem is, when the Submit statement executes, due to internal valdation in the RSEINB00 program the program terminates. Due to this it is not able to perform the SY-SUBRC Check and thus doesn't read the log.
Can anybody suggest me how to overcome this problem. I am attaching the code for your refernece.
SUBMIT RSEINB00
USING SELECTION-SET 'TEST2'
TO SAP-SPOOL
LIST NAME 'LOCL'
IMMEDIATELY space
KEEP IN SPOOL 'X'
AND RETURN.
<b>If sy-subrc <> 0.</b>
CALL FUNCTION 'BP_JOBLOG_READ'
EXPORTING
CLIENT = SY-MANDT
JOBCOUNT = i_tbtco-jobcount
JOBLOG = i_tbtco-joblog
JOBNAME = i_tbtco-jobname
TABLES
JOBLOGTBL = l_joblog
IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
else.
message i002 with l_joblog-msgv1.
ENDIF.
<b>
ENDIF.</b>
Rgds,
Kewal
P.S. : any other approach to solve this problem will be appreciated too and the points will be rewarded suitably. If I select a job in SM37 and I click on "spool" I get a list with separate spool entries for each of the steps, e. g.
Programmname/Kommand Programmtyp Spoolliste
Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK ABAP 1707445
ZSLEEP Ext. Kommando
Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_WERK ABAP 1707459

ZSLEEP Ext. Kommando
Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_VKORG ABAP 1721521
ZSLEEP Ext. Kommando
Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE_VKORG ABAP 1721816
It's in German but I'm sure you get the idea. For each Z_MM_STAT_UPDATE and variant I have a separate spool list that I can display.

Scheduling a background job depending on the output lenght.
Hi every one,
I have a small requirement. My client want me to run a program in a foreground if the output is small and should the program in background if the output is large. This has to be achieved through coding. The program downloads the netprices of products. The downloaded file is of .dat format. It is an urgent requirement.
Guys you would throughly rewarded for your help.
Thanks,
Kumar.9886185040.Hi Nag
that is not possible with codeing. To create a schedule a background job for the same program depending on its output is not possible.
being a programmer you need to decide, how long the code will take to execute.. accordingly you can either schedule or run in foreground. You can make some mandatory fields in the selection screen, so that the output is big mostly.
see the sample code for the Job scheduling using the fun modules
IF p_bjob = 'X'.
CONCATENATE sy-cprog sy-datum sy-uzeit

ELSE.

Also,
Yes you can use job functions:
JOB_OPEN
JOB_SUBMIT
JOB_CLOSE
* You can add multiple steps into one job by using JOB_SUBMIT.

Client export SCC8 - ended with errors
Hi All,
It is very urgent. Please help!
I'm doing client export a Prod client and will import to a Dev client. I run the export SCC8 in background. The export job (SAP_ALL profile) was completed successfully in SM37. However in SCC3, I received error "End with errors". I drilled down the log then I see the following errors.
Command file......................... PRDKT00024
Customizing data .....................X
With application data................ X
Initialize and recreate......... X
Change documents are not copied
Transport control program tp ended with error code 0008
Transport program tp could not be started (RC= 0)
Program ended with error or warning, return code: F
Runtime (seconds) : 9,222
End of processing: 21:04:45
Could you please let me know if these are errors or they are okay to ignore? The export created a transport file PRDKT00024 about 3GB. I don't see the KX00024 and KO00024.
Is this a successfully export or not? please advise.

bichloanIn Al11 what does DIR_TRANS pointing to?
Make sure you have enough space there as it will export the 2 files to the transport directory.
Have you tried Remote Client Copy.
Thanks
