Background noise is to loud

so i have some footage but the background noise is really bad. like you can hear them just as well as the actors in the video, i turned on the setting where it fixes audio problems but its still pretty bad. So how can i fix this? ( or at least make it better)

Are there people talking in the background? You probably can't fix it. Probably ened to reshoot with better micing.

  • Others can hear a ton of background noise when talking on the iphone 5

When I'm using my headset to talk with others the background noise is extremely loud.  I have tried the earpods that came with the phone and the background noise cuts in and out and have tried Bose headsets and the noise sounds awaful....like a wind tunnel to others.  Any advice on how to help or take care of this problem?

Every time I try to talk to my wife when using the Iphone 5 with  Earpods, or any other headset for that matter, she complains that the  mic on my phone headset is picking up EVERY SINGLE SOUND and amplifying  it so loud that she can hardly hear my voice over all the background  noise.... I have replecated this problem now 10 different iphone5 of my  friends.... which is every single iphone 5. Without fail they all have  this same issue. It is not my wifes phone either. People always complain  when I am using my headset. ESPECIALLY when I am trying to comply with  new laws requireing hands free phone usage. It is unacceptable for Apple  to have failed in fixing this problem. I have spoken with several  customer service reps/Genius's about this and there is no fix to date. I  have upgraded my iphone5 to all latest versions of iOS with the hopes  that Apple will one day fix this problem with a software update. Will  someone please help us!!!!! I doubt my Apple loyalty will last without a  fix to this massive inconvienence.

  • HT4528 iPhone 5 background noise too loud.

Everyone I talk to on my iPhone 5 say the back ground noise is very loud and it is worse on the apple headset. I see the commercial says the new 5 is designed to cancel background noise. Is there a microphone adjustment?

  • Mic is too sensitive, calls constantly cut out. People tell me y loud, and it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. Any background noise, and call is completely cutting out. This occurs all the time, but more so using earphones with in cord mic.

I have iphone5 ios6 and the Mic is too sensitive, and calls constantly cut in and  out. People tell me there is loud background noise and it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel. Any background noise, and call completely cuts in and out and sounds as if call is dropping. This occurs all the time, but more noticeable while using earphones with in cord mic. I never had this problem with my old iphone4. Has anyone experienced this, and is there a setting that can correct this problem?

Same problem for me.  So bad in fact that I can't really use my headphones for calls.  I have tried it with several sets of headphones.  My primary are the Bang and Olufsen headphones which were great with the previous iphone 4 and 3.
    Apple please address this issue.

  • Loud background noise when using headphones with mic. iPhone 5

I usually use headphones with a microphone to make phone calls, and they used to work perfectly.  As soon as I got the iPhone5, I have had trouble.  The person I'm talking to can hear every tiny background noise louder than my voice.  In fact, they complain that it sounds like glass breaking or the ocean or loud rain.  Today, someone about 20 feet away pulled up the window blinds and my caller said it hurt her ears.
I've tried a couple different sets of headphones and have the same problem.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I have the same problem. I have tried 3 different sets of headphones and have had my iPhone replaced. The problem persisits. I am a Version customer in central Wisconsin.
The headphones are unuseable while making a phone call in a atmosphere where there is any background noise.
I have been on the phone for hours with Apple. Problem persists.

  • Reduce or eliminate background noise

I have seen this issue touched upon in other forums, but really need a straightforward answer to this question as we are working on a project for a school teacher that is retiring, and want to give her a good memory to take with her. Unfortunately, when the person taking the video was doing it, they did it near screaming children. So we have interviews with students that we can barely hear due to the background noise. (We are on a tight deadline so a second take is not an option).
The question is: step-by-step using iMovie HD 06, can we reduce the background noise so that we can eliminate or reduce the screaming children in the background, and keep the sound of the child that is speaking?
If this can be accomplished by the equalizer, again please provide pretty specific instructions, as I can be dense at time.
I can raise the volume on the soundtrack, but that seems to make both the child's voice louder and the background noise louder.
Please! Any help would be immensely appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    As Karsten writes.
There are no magic audio program that can differ sound You want from sound You don't.
As I learned from TV-broadcasting. Most TV-programs are dubbed. Original audio
    out and playback audio added.
Yes all text has to be lip-sync-read one more time. Tedious but this is how
some in Street talks are done. (You don't hear a car although You see them)
BUT: With expert microphone tech. Special mic which has to be mouth close placed and
a very narrow uptake much can be done - but most often by Pro-people.

  • Bought AKG 120 USB microphone - Picks up to much background noise

How can I reduce the hum? I bought the AKG 120 USB microphone for voiceover. I used a Seinnheiser ew100 G3 before - which worked okay. But I guess a condenser microphone is even more powerful and picks up more of what I did not want. When I compare the recordings the Seinnheiser is deeper and the AKG 120 picks up more hum and background noise.
Is there a software that can help me adjust the AKG 120? Right now it is picking up to much noise.

    Hi Lillian83,
Final Cut Pro X has the ability to analyze audio for hum during import and while editing.
The relevant sections of the manual below will show you how:

    Audio analysis options
Final Cut Pro provides automatic analysis options that can fix common audio problems, analyze and group audio channels, and remove silent channels. You can analyze audio during import, or analyze video clips with audio issues in the Event Browser or in the Timeline.
Analyze and fix audio problems: Analyzes the audio for hum, noise, and loudness. Final Cut Pro automatically fixes problems that are considered severe (marked in red) and flags problems that are considered moderate (marked in yellow). For more information, see Enhance audio on page 199.

To show the Audio Enhancements inspector, do one of the following:
    • Choose Window > Go To > Audio Enhancements (or press Command-8).
    • Choose Show Audio Enhancements from the Enhancements pop-up menu in the toolbar.
    • In the Audio inspector, click the Audio Enhancements Inspector button next to Audio
Analysis in the Audio Enhancements section. (After you make any adjustments, the button
    changes color.)
To turn on an enhancement, click its icon or select its checkbox (when the enhancement is turned on, its checkbox is blue).

  • Background noise from microphones

Using an iMac G3 with CRT and OS 10.3.9 we are trying to use Skype and getting an overwhelming amount of background noise with and without an external microphone. A connection is made but there is a loud humming sound and our voices are barely audible. Could this be a problem with our high speed sbc connection and phone line filtering? Any ideas are welcome at this point.
    Thanks,
    B.Ball

You did not mention if you have tray load or slot load iMac. (This refers to the method for loading CDs.) Earlier tray load iMacs have a fan, slot loaders do not. The fan on my tray load Blueberry can be quite loud in my quiet office (although no louder than any other computer fan), and so I am wondering if that might be the source of the background noise.

  • Background Noise Removal Levels Changed to 50%

I've repeatedly encountered an unpleasant problem with the Background Noise Removal feature in Final Cut Pro X, both in 10.0.0 and 10.0.1.  If I turn Background Noise Removal on for a clip in the Timeline, and adjust the level to something other than the default of 50% (which creates squarium-like sound - I can't think when such a high setting would be appropriate), I eventually find that FCPX has thrown away all my levels and changed the level to 50% on all clips for which I have enabled Noise Removal.  I haven't yet figured out what action makes FCPX throw away my levels (simply quitting and starting again doesn't do it); but this has happened to me repeatedly over the course of the last three months.  Has anyone else seen this? - Dan Sallitt

I've not been able to get satisfactory improvements to audio using the Audio Enhancements. The Hum removal always sounds like reverb is added. The Noise Reduction leaves so much to be desired.  And, I'm not sure I understand how to use the "Loudness" effectively (it's never been an effect I've used extensively in Logic or STP — there are much better ways to "master" audio and I *prefer* Multipressor [also in FCPX]).
I use Effects > Audio > Levels > Logic > Adaptive Limiter to lower the noise floor and increase the gain for a quasi – noise reduction (there is also a "Noise Gate" effect for this -- a little trickier)  and I can notch out frequency band noises with Channel or Linear Phase EQ. But quite frankly, the very best noise reduction I've ever heard in nearly 20 years of searching is in ScreenFlow. You don't have to use it as a screen capture software, it can be used to "add in" audio/video (New Empty Document) and (phenomenal) noise reduction can be had by *just* turning on Filter: "Remove Background Noise". Any "digital artifacts" are virtually imperceptible (and that's at their default setting of 80%!!). After bringing that audio into FCPX, any "enhancements" is just flat out *for fun*.  Apple really needs to license or buy Telestream's noise reduction software. [Export options out of ScreenFlow include ProRes and AIFF/LinearPCM... among others.]
One more thing about the Audio Effects in FCPX: YOU CAN SAVE YOUR SETTINGS AS PRESETS!!!! You can't even do that with video effects!!!!! Almost every audio effect has a Presets: menu and at the very bottom is Save Preset.
For most categories, there are: the Final Cut effects; Logic effects; and Mac OS X effects (these are basically the same as you would find in Garageband) --- stay with the Logic effects!

  • Background noise with Auzen Bravura

    Hello,
I got fresh install of Arch on my desktop. Everything works.. but audio got some issues.
With only ALSA I couldn't get any sound out from my soundcard unlike with Pulseaudio. However after installing Pulseaudio, there's constant backround noise (volume is independent of volume levels), which pretty much makes the whole system unusable.
I've tried both VLC and Gstreamer backends on Phonon (yes, running KDE). Background noise disappears when Pulseaudio is uninstalled but I can't get any sound out that way.
Running Arch x86_64 and Auzentech Bravura soundcard.

I had the same problem with the same board. Additionally, it would make a loud 'POP' noise whenever I did a system shutdown in WinXP. Also, the static was present just like you described. The board had to be replaced due to some other problem, and I don't use the sound on the replacement because it's a server now and I have no need for sound - so I can not tell you whether the problem is still there with the new board or not.

  • Background noise reduction

I would like to find a way to reduce the amount of background noise/hissing from my file.
I have been importing audio (music) from a cassette tape directly into Soundtrack. After making the necessary edits to the track I have been using the "Bitcrusher" effect to improve the "punchiness" of the sound. Then I have been exporting to iTunes as an .aiff file, followed by an import for iTunes and the file is transferred into my music file. Then I burned to a CD.
The sound is just okay and there is definitely a loud hissing noise as the volume is turned up. Does anyone have suggestions on how to:
    a. Improve the overall quality of the sound?
    b. Reduce the mount of background hissing/noise
The noise is not very apparent during playback on my computer just when I play it back on CD.
    Thanks!

    Bob,
Soundtrack Pro (STP) is currently at 1.0.3.
Where you have a section of your audio with no voice but background noise, did you use that as your noiseprint (STP, menu bar: process then set noiseprint) or as the section for Bias Soap to learn? After that, use the tool settings to listen to what either program is actually taking out (STP, menu bar: process then reduce noise, or Soap, and click noise only in either one). I typically reduce the amount of noise reduction to ensure I'm not affecting the voice (you don't want to hear the voice in noise only mode). Then I listen to it normally to ensure I haven't over done it on the noise reduction.

  • IPod Shuffle 4th generation background noise

Apple appear to have archived the original discussion about background noise.
I find the noise to be prominent.
Through the (presumably low end) headphones that came with the iPod, I can't hear that much hiss, nor any whine - just as with my old 2nd Generation Shuffle.
But I still play the Shuffle in my car.  I use a tape adaptor. With my 2nd Generation Shuffle, there was never any noise problem. However, the same songs - and, especially, the podcasts - played over my 4th Gen Shuffle, through the same tape adaptor, now have a loud background noise.
Many people have described this noise as a "hiss." For me, it is not simply the white noise that you might get from an old cassette recording.  I am in agreement with the user who said: "Honestly this sounds more like Tinnitus than any fault on the end of the buds."
In my case, in addition to the white noise, there is a high-pitched singing from the moment you turn on the iPod - akin to the sound given off by a dog whistle, or the traditional cathode ray tube television set when it's turned on. The traditional TV whine was never that audible to many older people, people with damaged hearing, etc. But, to those with good high-end hearing, it can be noticeable - and quite annoying.
Check out this page: http://journal.plasticmind.com/ears/mosquito-tone-or-how-to-tell-youre-a-youngun /
Applying the above test, I would say that my iPod delivers a steady squeak/whistle at around 15Khz.
Additionally, when I hold the forward and backward buttons to move quickly through tracks, there is a high click akin to the sound made when you start or stop any of the test tracks from playing.
I find that the background squeak is, for some reason, less of a problem with music tracks than with  podcasts.
If I turn on the Dolby noise reduction button on my car's tape-player, I can actually eliminate much of the noise. However, then the tracks are significantly muffled. I never liked using Dolby at the best of times but - since iTunes tracks were obviously not prepared in Dolby - there is a distinct fall in clarity (especially in the podcasts which contain speech) when Dolby is switched on.
The way things stand, I'm inclined to take my 4th Generation Shuffle back, and replace it with a less irritating 2nd Generation Shuffle.
    Anyone else experienced this?
Do I just have a duff iPod?  Should I just try replacing it with another 4th Generation model?

I am in exactly the same situation as you - I got my 4th gen Shuffle yesterday (after my 2nd gen was accidently put in the laundry). The 2nd gen version was brilliant so I assumed the 4th gen would improve it even more, however the first time I plugged it into the cassette adapter in the car, I assumed it was defective. The background whistling and clicking between tracks ruins spoken word or quieter songs. It means its not really useable with a cassette adapter, which is a big let down, as thats the purpose I bought it for! I am going to see if I can send it back and get a 2nd gen from somewhere. I know cassette adapters are old tech, but its frustrating that a newer version of the Shuffle has this big issue with them, whereas an older model does not.

  • How to get rid of background noises?

what would be the best way to edit a track to get rid of background noises like a guitar bleeding into the vocal mic?

    Three things to try:
    1) Insert the Noise Gate plug-in. Use judiciously, or you'll truncate the vocal (breaths, lip noise etc).
    2) Use 'Strip Silence' on your vocal track (Audio Window)
    3) Double-click on vocal track (Sample Editor) and using the change gain function, reduce the spilled noise in sections that are bothering you.
Which one works best for you depending on your track, but if the guitar bleed is too loud +while the vocal is present+, there's not really a magic filter to get rid of it.

  • Lessening background noise when Amplifying a sound file (post noise reduction)

I have a video I have been tryng to clean up, that was filmed in an environment with some amount of background noise.
I managed to get the audio cleaned up to a leveI was happy with (but still retained a minimal amount of almost unoticable noise to keep the voise still sounding ok).
It sounds fine and perfectly loud in headphones but on some computer speakers even turned up to full volume you can barely hear it. (in the future I will try to film with a higher volume)
I attempted a few different methods to Amplify the sound slightly but this also increases the reminant of background noise.
Along with the basic Amplify, and Normalise I have also tried using a Hard Limiter (I don't know if I was doing it right though as it also increased the Background noise)
Can someone provide any pointers to only amplify the Voice and not the background noise? or possibly even suggest a way I can clean up the reminant background noise without causing the voice to become hollow and Tinny? Obviously redoing the Noise removal process just makes the voice more Hollow.
In the future should I Amplify first and then run the noise removal?
    I am using Audition CS6

In Audition, Noise Reduction always seems to work best if applied in small steps, with different settings for each. The setting that makes absolutely the most difference is the FFT size you use. The thing to do at the outset is to use the default setting (4096 I think) but don't take too much off with that. Then change the FFT size to the maximum setting, take a new noise print from the results of your previous pass, and take the rest off with this setting. By doing this, you'll find that you can take away more noise before artefacts start to creep in.
It doesn't actually matter about the level of your signal when you apply NR, but to be sensible about it, in order to be able to monitor the results effectively, you should normalize it first, to around -1 or -2dB. The concept of amplifying a signal without amplifying the noise in it implies making the dynamics non-linear, and whilst that's possible to a degree with the Dynamics Processor, it's generally not a good idea - it makes everything seem completely unnatural-sounding.
