Background of JMenuBar isn't set on Mac Leopard

I develop the applet and I want to change the color of JMenuBar background in Black color, so I use
menuBar.setBackground(Color.BLACK)
But on Mac 10.5. Leopard the menuBar is not in BLACK color, it is in default gray color. On other OS(Win XP, Mac Tiger, Win Vista) it is in BLACK color as it must be.
JVM is 1.5.0_16 version on Mac Leopard and Mac Tiger. I build the applet by JVM 1.5 and 1.6 - the result is the same.
Could any one suggest the solution ?

Hey there gconlon12,
It sounds like you are not seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases anymore when you open iTunes, but you still see them in your iPhone. You were on the right track to check your iTunes preferences, so check this one next. You want to be sure Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases is enabled in the Store preferences.
iTunes 11 for Mac: iTunes Store preferences
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12263
Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases
Display items purchased from the iTunes Store that haven’t been downloaded to your computer. These items have a Download button next to them.
If that is enabled, I would next verify that the Signed in Apple ID has not changed with this:
Using an existing Apple ID with the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and iBooks Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2589
Open the latest version of iTunes.
Choose Store > Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password and click Sign In.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Sterling

Some of the contacts entered in my mac addressbook (ios7.5) aren't appearing on my iphone 5.  Calendar entries appear so the problem isn't that i cloud isn't set up properly.  Any solutions?

What I finally did was to log into my icloud account online.  I saw that all my contacts were properly synced from my MacBook Pro - so I unchecked "contacts" under iCloud preferences on my phone.  Then I rechecked it and asked it to sync again.  All the contacts from my MacBook Pro are now on my phone.  Thanks for your help!

I'm setting up my Mac for the first time and trying to transfer everything from my old PC. The mac is recognizing the PC, but the PC is not recognizing the Mac.  There is a password on the mac that I have to match to the PC, but the PC isn't recognizing the Mac.

  • Setting up Mac for BT and old Talktalk mail

We changed from talktalk to BT today and I want to set up Mac mail to receive both my mail from my old provider talktalk and also a new bt email address which I set up this morning (and hasn't yet worked....)
As I need to receive mail from my old talktalk.net address until everyone has the new BT mail, I need both accounts on my mac mail.  I am able to receive mail on my talktalk address but cannot send using this address/server, it says "cannot send mail using the server talktalk".  It won't connect using the bt server either?
Can anyone let me know how I receive emails from both, but send using BT and why this isn't working for me (unable to send mail).
I'm aware I may sound like a complete techno idiot here, but hoping its a simple fix!
    Many thanks

Presumably as you are no longer with Talk Talk, you no longer have an account on their outgoing mail server. You need to send via the BT SMTP mail server but you need a BTinternet address to authenticate with. I am not familiar with Mac Mail so don't know the details of how to accomplish that but you need to configure the outgoing server with the following details.
    Server mail.btinternet.com
    Port 465
    SSL Yes
User name your full [email protected] email address
    Password your Btinternet.com password
    Authenticate plain password
The BT account will be the same details as above for outgoing, for incoming use port 993 and SSL for IMAP or 995 and SSL for POP3.

This sounds like the age old problem with keychain & Safari. I don't know of a way to solve it without using something like 1Password.
The iOS app has it's own built in browser, so it has more control over what gets autofilled. Safari on OS X has an 1Password extension that handles account selection & autofill etc.
Keychain is great in principle, but it quickly falls down when you need tight integration with many ID's & different use cases (work, home etc).
I'd suggest you submit feedback to Apple about your thoughts. I did so years ago about this issue & this is how far we have come (back to the point where me.com synced passwords) :^)
    http://apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Other tools like lastpass or keypassx may also help if you want to truly segregate password storage, but that doesn't fix autofill, the way around that issue is to dedicate one browser for work.

  • When attempting to set up Mac OS to open a specific app (version), and selecting 'Change All' on Get Info, it reverts to most latest app version of the same.  Any clues?

When attempting to set up Mac OS to open files with a specific app (version), through 'Change All' on Get Info, it reverts to most latest version of the same app.  Any reason why it does not allow my other version of same app to be the default one?

I have Acrobat Pro 10.1.13 and Adobe Reader 10.1.13.
If I use the Finder to get all PDFS to open with Reader instead of Pro, they do.  And vice versa, using the Change All.

  • Set up MAC Address Filtering on WRT54G - now nothing connects

I set up MAC address filtering on the wireless router.  Added 5 MAC addresses to the PERMITTED list, by selecting them from the available devices.   Saved the changes.  Now, none of the machines can connect to the access point.  That includes the PC I use to log in and administer the access point.  I connected the network cable directly to my PC to manage the router/access point.  Still not able to connect.  What happened?  How do I get back in and turn that nonsense off.  I know MAC Filtering is questionable wrt effectiveness, but I decide to try it.

Reset the router back to defaults. Reconfigure it from scratch.

  • How to set my Mac to wake automatically when invited to join a video chat?

Is it possible to set my Mac to wake automatically from Sleep when invited to join a video chat?
Also, is it possible to show that I am still available when my Mac is sleeping?
It seems that if these settings are not possible, there can be no spontaneity with iChat. You have to pre-arrange a video chat by email or whatever, in which case you are not adding much once you have arranged the call--you may as well carry on with the email or whatever other contact method you use.
Or is there some other way to arrange video chat?

No, neither of these are possible. When your Mac is asleep it does not remain connected to anything on the 'net.

The only way you could do it is to leave your Mac on and iChat connected at all times. You could then set your display to switch off after a certain amount of time.
That way your Mac will remain connected via iChat and you'll be able to receive video chats at any time. In fact i believe an incoming call via iChat will even switch the display back on (though i haven't tested this myself).

Thanks. Where could I possibly look for a firewall rule. I knowingly did not creat any. My system has internet coming to a Modem which then is connected to a wireless router. I have computers connecting to the router through cable as well as wireless. One of these computers has been our  mailserver using Mercury and Pegasus and that computer has a static IP address. The Mac Mini also has been assigned a different srtatic IP address. I have only set up user account, none of them an email account as I initially expect them to receive only internal mails. Is it necessary that I must set up an email id for each user while setting up the user account. My server id is server.local. So would the email id for local users be [email protected]?

  • Default Setting for .Mac?

I want to set my .mac calender's default view for anyone who visits it to monthly, is there a way to do this so people don't have to visit the preferences themselves?

    VictoriaSueno,
To the best of my knowledge, the view which is presented to your visitors will be computer specific, and is controlled by a cookie.
The individual user will have to select the desired "Calendar View" after clicking on "Preferences"
    ;~)

  • I can't install iTunes 10 since this isn't supported by Mac Os 10.4.11

Help. I can't synchronize my iPhone 4g on my powermac G5 because I can't install iTunes 10 since this isn't supported by Mac Os 10.4.11. And I can't upgrade to mac os 10.5 because my computer processor (a PowerPC G5) does not support mac os 10.5.
Does anyone know how to help me?

Yes, call Apple and buy a copy of Leopard (10.5.x). Snow Leopard (10.6.x) only runs on Intel, Leopard does run on PowerPC.
