Background printing

Question

I have been an avid user of Pages, but since moving to 08 I have had a lot of problems with background printing. First I think this word processing vs layout thing *****. I write a lot of menus and having all of the functionality together was good. On to the real problem. On my menus I have the name of our Bar with a rectangle shape behind it. The rectangle shape prints over the bar name no matter what I do. Page Layout or Word processing layout. I tried to make a text box and fill it but you can't fill it with gradient like you can do to a shape. Any help on this would be appreciated

I've had the same problem with estate agents adverts.
Here is how I dealt with this:
• in Pages file - make sure you "Send to back" your image (under Arrange menu) and uncheck "object causes wrap" in Wrap inspector
• instead of printing your menu straight from Pages convert first to PDF:
click Print to open Print dialogue window;
click on PDF at the bottom left corner;
choose 'Save as PostScript' - to desktop;
• drag and drop your huge PS file onto either Preview or Acrobat Professional.
After a few seconds you would get a tidy PDF (portable document format) file which should be good for printing on desk-top printers, sending out via email and even, if you use Acrobat Professional, for mass print-runs with professional print-shops.
