Background Problem (not opaque?)

Hello,
I apologize for being a newbie - but after reading the manual still have this issue. I am trying to make an animated matte to place over a movie (with just two identifying logos in the corner). Even though my canvas is checkered - it doesn't render or export as opaque - but black instead. From my reading this is contratry to what should be...

Thank you, but unfortunately it did not work. When I select a background color (any) and set opacity to zero - still shows as black. I know how to create a matte in Photoshop, but I really want one that will animate between logos. I can't get a transparent background in Keynote either - in which case I'd export my files as QTime files and lay them over as a matte.
I must admit I am doing these things and importing them to iMovie (with Slick plug-ins for the mattes, etc.) Would things be that much easier in FCE? I have been intimidated with it to date. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Gradient Background problems

I have Enterprise version 8.1 installed on my machine and I am using it to reverse engineer some Java code. I would like to generate a few graphics in eps format, and I am having serious problems with the size when I export them as svg and translate them to eps. So, I want to turn off some of the background gradients, etc.
When I go to the UML Advanced options and enter the "Set Glocal Colors and Fonts" I can change the "packagelightgradientfill" and "BackgroundColor" to white from the lime green color (for example on a deployment diagram. If i click on OK or apply, I get a message asking if I want to change the other items. After about 10 second, the colors revert back to their normal green values. Is this something wrong with my installation?

Your installation is fine, the capability to change gradient background was not implemented in 8.1. If you try the UML module in NB6.0 (currently in Milestone 9) you will be able to simply turn on/off gradient for all elements, Advanced options -> UML -> Diagrams -> Gradient Background. The gradient start / stop color is still not customizable.

Background browser not always appearing

this is a weird problem, it appears on some computers, but not others, eg appears on both my mac and pc, but not on my ipad or iphone. I used filezilla to upload. The background browser is an image from iphoto. My website is cobbity.com

To clarify:
An iPad/iPhone/iPod touch displays the content of a page.
Your page is 1006px wide.
iPad scales a page horizontally to fit the screen. iPhone scrolls.
A background in not part of the content.

XNA - Scrolling background problem

I'm making a C# XNA Game in Visual Studio 2010 and I've got a problem. My scrolling background does not appear all the time, only in the beginning. Here is my code in the background class:

The object Background is not currently available?

Trying to make a simple action/droplet.
Open document, duplicate Background layer, save, close.
Action works on a file I open. I make a droplet - and it can't find the Background?
Every time it says "The object Background is not currently available." Do I need to turn something off? Auto-Select Layer?
I used to make actions that could do things similar to this, why not anymore? CS4.

Background has to be the correct "Background"- this is a completely opaque base layer . Layer/new/background from layer.
If you actually want it to select the base layer, whether this is actually the 'Background' or not: Use the shortcut Alt Comma - this will record in your action and will NOT stop the action, regardless of situation.

I have a Rocketfish mini display port to VGA adaptor cord for a macbook pro, it was working fine the first week, now it does not show what I am seeing on my laptop on my lg Flat screen tv. It only shows the space background but not any icons. Any help??

It seems as though though it may be a connection issue, possibly hardware or adapter. Make certain the connections are TIGHT.
For software you may try a smc reset:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
Try a pram reset:
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If no joy you can take it in to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation make an appointment first.

Painting on a layer but the paint is not opaque..it is pale and transparent. How can I get paint to be more intense and opaque to cover part of the picture? I have a MAC and updated Photoshop CC.

Reset the Paint Tool as shown in the screenshot:
If you are painting on a Layer, check the Opacity and Blend mode in the Layers Panel. Blend Mode: Normal Opacity and Fill: 100%

Background does not show up when creating a PDF in InDesign

I have placed the same image in Illustrator and the PDF does show up the image.

Ooh. Ok. Thank you! I'm using InDesign CS5.5, Acrobat 10.1.6. Mac OSX (10.6.8).
Layer 1: background (TIFF): does not show up
Layer 2: Type and logos (EPS): do show up in my pdf.
-When I select Overprint Preview in Indesign the background is missing.
-I have created pdfs in different presets (smallest, high quality, etc) and still background does not show up.
-When I place ONLY the background on a new InDesign document, it does show up in the PDF.
-I have created a pdf with the background in Illustrator and it does show in my PDF.

The upper part of the page is not opaque, and the desktop shows through. Thus, the menu bar is hard to read. How to remedy this?

The area behind the menu bar and the line above it, all the way across to the minimize, maximize and close icons is not opaque and the desktop and desktop icons show through. There is nothing I can find in Firefox Help to change this. Also, it would be nice if the menu bar could be made larger and more visible -- and if I could delete "Yahoo!" from the menu bar, leaving just the important items (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help). Any suggestions?

Messages background color not saving

I have about 15 computers and we use Messages as our in-house chat. We have different groups/areas/rooms assigned different background colors (it makes quick identification of where it's coming from easier). But we have an issue where some computers will randomly revert back to "Automatic", which is just grey.
They are all updated, and I've changed color, closed Messages, and restarted all of them. What's odd is that, after a restart, the color will be saved, but then randomly revert on its own.
Any thoughts on why, or how to fix it?

In Mavericks the info is stored in the com.apple.ichat.plist in ~/Library/Preferences like it always was.
However in Mavericks the Sandboxing used to protect apps uses a "Read and Write route" as it were, of ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ichat/Data/Library/Preferences and then an Alias to the Original.
There is also some link to ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.soagent/Data/Library/Preferences and some of the Original .plists in here that seems to relate to this new Helper app and Messages.
I also find the colour of my Balloons (Background) does not always stick but tend to notice after I get a Message after start up of the app (I had not pinned it down to being random).
I have not been able to pin down the fact something is not Writing to the .plist properly.

White background problem

After encoding to F4V, my white background is not exactly white anymore? It's white in the Adobe preview window, but doesn't survie the flash encoding? Any solutions out there?

I'm keying a guy talking from a greenscreen to white background. So, two video channels with a white matte (255/255/255)
In the CS5 preview screen, if I do a screen capture, it's white. But after I encode to F4V the white goes to (235/235/235)
I've checked all sorts of things, opacity levels, used max. render & depth quality in AME, but nothing helps.
