Background sound from aquarium screensaver left behind, continues to play

Greetings,
I have a very strange problem. Last week, I downloaded the D Desktop Aquarium Screensaver 1.7 from Apple's "Downloads" section. When the screensaver is activated, it plays this bubbling sound in the background. I removed the screensaver because I thought I could set the options to make it look like a real aquarium.
For some reason, the sound remains. It starts to play when the current screen saver (it doesn't matter which one) begins to run, so does the sound. However, when I begin to work on the machine, the sound continues! The screensaver does deactivate.
I looked in the Sounds folder inside the System directory but didn't find the culprit sound. I don't even know what its called so I cannot use Search.
Is there some where else I need to look? Does anyone have a name so I can search for it? Does anyone know how I can turn this (now categorized as ) noise? I appreciate any help - and I promise, no comparisons to other OS's.

I assume you deleted the trial.saver file from your /Library/Screen Savers/ folder.
What if you were to reinstall it, switch to a different screensaver and then delete it?

  • How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBoo

for my MacBook Air problem adding music intensifier (Panasonic ST-HT1000) to give it an unpleasant sound background that sounds like a whiz, it's not so loud, but it is an unpleasant .. after a short time can get used to, but the fizz does not pass, however, believe that it is a big problem.
Further I notice that when MacBookAir disconnected from the charger, it remains quieter sound.
At first thought that the headphone jack (3.5 mm Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack) or wiere have problem, but tried 3 different cables, but that does change enything, the problem remains.
When I added iPhonu3GS playing - the background sound were not, then everything is OK!
How can I remove the background sound from the headphone jack for my MacBook Air 13?

There is no way to bring that up unless you have it typed in a document. You can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

I thought that a Windows restart may clear that file, but it did not.
How is the background updater handling this; attempt to delete it at a later stage (e.g. during the next update)?
P.S. on all other systems, all files were successfully removed.

Sorry, we only run Firefox, Chrome, and IE here, so I can't attest to what happens on those other browsers.
The only other thing I can add is that this was the 32bit version of Flash.
This is extremely easy to replicate.  I went into the
    c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
directory and copied NPSWF32_11_2_202_235.dll to NPSWF32_11_2_202_233.dll
I then launched ProcMon from SysInternals so I could spy on exactly what was happening.  Then I launched Firefox and went to the adobe flash about page.  Of course, it returned version 235.  But ProcMon told a different story.  Firefox had launched the plugin-container.exe using the 233 DLL I just copied!
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugin-container.exe" --channel=2500.56b6a60.744882939 "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_11_2_202_233.dll" - -greomni "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\omni.ja" 2500 "\\.\pipe\gecko-crash-server-pipe.2500" plugin
The problem comes because Firefox is using a QueryDirectory command with '*' when it looks in the Macromed\Flash directory for the DLL.  This returns items alphabetically.  It must be looking for the NPSWF32 prefix, so the LOWEST version number will always win!
To prove this, I made a copy of NPSWF32_11_2_202_235.dll and named it NPSWF32_0.dll.  So now I'm looking at the following directory entries.
    FlashInstall.log
    flashplayer.xpt
    FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe
    FlashUtil32_11_2_202_235_Plugin.exe
    mms.cfg
    NPSWF32_0.dll
    NPSWF32_11_2_202_235.dll
Note that alphabetically, my _0 copy is above the real copy.  I use ProcMon to spy on Firefox once again.  And Firefox goes and loads NPSW32_0.dll into the plugin-container.exe command line!  This is despite the registry having no mention of this file, and all registry entries that refer to flash have NPSWF32_11_2_202_235.dll in them.
You guys have a huge problem here.

  • PICT file (transparent background) - motion (from off screen left to right)

I have a PICT file with a transparent background. I imported it and put it in a track above a photo. Basically I just want to to go from off screen left to off screen right. I tried selecting the pict image, going to the motion tab and using keyframes in the ‘centre’ option to move the image off to the sides. The problem is that when I view it, its almost like every second/third line of pixels lags (Making the edges jagged).
The edges of the image are fine when there is no motion, and it seems to get worse the more distance it is traveling.
The only thing I have changed is the 'quick time video settings compressor'; it is ‘none’ because that is the only way I could find that wouldn’t end up messing up the sides of the image when I imported it.
I have been using final cut for about 3 hours? So I am not sure what to do, or if I am even approaching this problem the right way. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I am currently trying to find a way to get a screen shot, but can’t get it to paste into any programs I have….

Edit: this happens when ever I do any scaling/movement/rotation/etc...

I used the Creative Diagnostic application's Speaker Test and after hitting Restore Defaults, the front right speaker is not as quiet, though still much quieter and muffled. Still no sound from the subwoofer.

  • No sound from speakers on dv-6245us. headphones only play right side.

    Hello.
I have an HP Pavilion Dv6245us Laptop with Windows Vista 32-bit. I use this laptop mainly at work and it sits on my toolbox at work and I connect it to my Creative Home Theatre system via the 2 connections in the front. I switch between both the SPDIF and the headphones jacks from time to time.
Here is the issue: I noticed the other day that when my cable was plugged in the SPDIF connection, depending on how you moved the cord, you could hear audio only on the right side. When I unplugged the cable, i noticed my laptop speakers did not play any sound. I tried plugging into the other jack on the front and both jacks behave the same: any audio device plugged in will only play on the right side, no sound on the left, however when the cable is in the headphones jack, i can move it and i always hear sound, but when i move it around in the SPDIF jack, it cuts out when you move it. still no sound from the laptop speakers.
I thought it was a driver issue, so i updated the drivers and even reformated the entire computer. This did not work. I have read around and noticed that some people say a tab may be stuck in the jack and to try and plug something in and out of it rapidly and that should get it to recognize that nothing is plugged in, however that also did not work.
Just curious if there is anyway to shut off the spdif connection and maybe it would allow the speakers to work again, since that seems to be the jack with the issue, or if there is any other way of solving this issue.
    Thanks, Mike.

Anyone? Really cannot find any info on this problem..

  • Creating a sound from an array of numeric values and playing it on speakers

How do I create take a sound I have stored as an array (or could be an arraylist if needed) of numeric values (at the moment as doubles) whiten my program and output it to speakers? I am using blueJ.
    for example (0, 0.1, 0.4, 0.8, 0.9, 1, 0.8, 0.6, 0.3, 0.1, etc...) would be a very high frequency sin wave.
    Edited by: alan2here on Feb 6, 2008 11:28 AM

I stumbled upon this thread with a question somewhat related:
I've recorded a wave file from microphone. But what I would like is an array of numbers in the same way alan said. I'm also working on my own project involving signal processing (i'm trying to do speech recognition).
I can't really find a nice way of getting that array of numbers. I've tried to find out how wave file stores it's data, and directly read from the File object, but i figured there should be an easier way...
I used this code to read the sound:

Note that stopping the thread explicitely is not necessary. Once

data from the AudioInputStream, the method 'AudioSystem.write()'
(called in 'run()' returns. Returning from 'AudioSystem.write()'
is followed by returning from 'run()', and thus, the thread
             is terminated automatically.
It's not a good idea to call this method just 'stop()'

         public void stopRecording()

         /** Main working method.
You may be surprised that here, just 'AudioSystem.write()' is
called. But internally, it works like this: AudioSystem.write()
contains a loop that is trying to read from the passed
AudioInputStream. Since we have a special AudioInputStream
that gets its data from a TargetDataLine, reading from the
AudioInputStream leads to reading from the TargetDataLine. The
data read this way is then written to the passed File. Before
writing of audio data starts, a header is written according
to the desired audio file type. Reading continues untill no
more data can be read from the AudioInputStream. In our case,
this happens if no more data can be read from the TargetDataLine.
This, in turn, happens if the TargetDataLine is stopped or closed
(which implies stopping). (Also see the comment above.) Then,
the file is closed and 'AudioSystem.write()' returns.
         public void run()
                   try
                        AudioSystem.write(
                             m_audioInputStream,
                             m_targetType,

  • Really low sound from rear left spea

I have 5. headphones and when i have them pluged into my xtreamgamer i barly get any sound from my rear left speaker, i know it works because if i plug it in my basic MB soundcard it works fine. Is this a known problem or a fix for this?

I've installed the latest drivers, made sure the the jack is plugged in right (theres only one, that comes from the Monitor or the headphones). The CD only has an installation guide, and i know onboard sound is disabled because i never had one in the first place after a recent reformat. and before that reformat sound came out from both sides normally, so i know something is wrong with the sound card.
EDIT: i just did a random tests, and i found out that the right speaker is working, but it is playing extreamly low. i had to blare up my volume up to 00% and i bearly heard it. i've checked the playback control, and played around with it and still have same problem.Message Edited by Bigs80 on --200606:49 AM

  • Sound from speakers & headphones is monaural NOT stereo HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC Win 8.1

My HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC  is only 2 weeks old I found out soon after I got it that any test I do of the left and right speakers or headphones is not stereo.   When I click on the left speaker I hear the sound in the center and when I click on the right speaker I hear the sound in the center.  I have tried a test from the internet same results.   However, if I connect a bluetooth audio device then when I click on the left speak I hear the sound on the left only and when I click on the right speaker I hear the sound in the in the right only.  Also when I boot the computer with Ubuntu 13.10 there is stereo distinct sounds from either the left or right when I run the left right test.
At first and before I installed Ubuntu HP was sure it was a hardware problem and sent a tech out to install a circuit board which the headphone plug was on, thinking the jack was defective and mixing the left and right channels.   That didn't fix it.  I went to the Realtek website and ran their program which removed all traces of the sound driver and installed the newest one they had, didn't help.    Hp log into my computer and cruised around but found nothing wrong.   I have played with every sound setting there is, no change.   The final solution they suggest is to reinstall Windblows 8.1.  I really don't want to do this as I just did it to transfer from my win 7 notebook to this one using windows easy transfer.   FYI this computer is one HP sent me to replace the previous G6 Win 7 notebook which had unresolvable problems, worse than that this is the 3rd computer HP has send me to replace previous ones which each had their own set of unresolvable problems.  So I haven't had very good luck with HP computers!
Anyway I am left with maybe a couple possibilities.   1. Reload windblows, I cannot use easy transfer because it no longer works on win 8.1 (maybe file history will work though I'm not sure)   2. Try windows refresh which won't remove as much of what I have installed.   3. Maybe someone has experienced a similar problem and can share here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Michael
    UPDATE:
HP wanted me to do a clean reinstallation of Win 8.1, sent me the disks to do it, but the disks were defective and wouldn't go on to the second disk.   I used the Disks I had made from the computer they worked and the reinstallation was completed.   That didn't resolve the problem!   They decided to send me a replacement computer.
The new computer is a  HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC with win 8.1 updated.   Same problem except the speakers seem to be in stereo but the headphone jack is still mono.   I chatted with HP last evening and was told this is a "Known problem and the fault of Windows 8.1"    Can someone tell me if this is true?    I have doubts but really want to know.
    Michael

Hp replaced this computer for me due to this problem, however, the Envy (dumb name) they sent me to replace it had the same problem.   I did fine a solution and here is the web address http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/envy-17-headphones-in-mono-not-stereo/td-p/...
Read down a few posts for the solution by making changes to the registry.   But, my problem and the solution was with a win 8.1 computer and I do not know it it applies to Win 7.  Unless, you have the same sound card and driver, which I doubt.  If you haven't removed the sound card driver and reinstalled it with the one on the HP website do try that.
    Good luck.

  • FAINT sound from Side Speak

Hi! again, can someone help me configuring X-Fi Fatality & T7900 so that I have proper sound output from all 8 channels. Have Windvd 7. A very faint sound comes out from Side Speakers. When I test speakers, they seem GOOD with proper vol output through all channels. THX console also shows proper output of sound from all speakers. MP3 plays well, but When I play any DVD there is hardly any sound from side speakers. Tried every thing. Guess I am making a mistake in configuring setup. I tried using the below advise but still no go. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------2) Decode the AC3/DTS with your Sound Blaster.?You should choose this option if?you don't have an external decoder. In the DVD software, select 'SPDIF' as the audio output method and make sure that 'SPDIF Pass-through' in the souncard options is?off. The DVD software will now pass the compressed audio to your soundcard, which will then decode the data. The soundcard will output the 6 channels using the?analogue connections (or digital DIN, more on this later). If you try?to use a digital optical/coax connection to your speakers, you will only hear faint sounds from the front left/right speakers.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - X-Fi Fatality & Inspire T7900WinDVD 7WinXP Pro.?[color="#ff0000"]Please Guide

Hi! again, can someone help me configuring X-Fi Fatality & T7900 so that I have proper sound output from all 8 channels. • No sound from rear speakers in 5.1 in mov

I have the Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer card. When I use the channel test in the Audio Console (Game Mode), I hear everything just fine. Sounds come from the correct speakers. But when I'm watching a movie (like right now, Sin City bluray version), I can only hear sounds from the front left, center and right. In games like Battlefield 2 the sounds works just fine. What could be the problem? I would really appreciate any help. A good movie is so much more with good sound.

You were right. I neglected the slider on the right in Stereo Surround mode. It should have been set to Surround. As soon as I did it the sound appeared. Thanks for your reply

  • How do I mute the sound from the video camera when burning a DVD

Hi there.  I'm a new user of Elements 8.  I have compiled some clips and added a soundtrack to the movie,  When you preview the file you don't hear the sound from the video camera but when I burn it to a DVD you still hear the video background.  How do I burn the DVD without the background sound from the video camera?  On the DVD I only want to hear the soundtrack I added.
    Thank you,
    Doug

Thanks guys.  Both options worked.  Dowside to deleting audio (option I went with) appears to be that you lose the audio forever.  So if I ever wanted to bring the audio back I wouldn't be able to.
You are partially correct in that the Audio is no longer on your Timeline. It is still in your Project Panel, and you can move it back to your Timeline if ever needed. The complete removal from the Timeline is why I work with the Audio Mixer in cases like this. Also, on could alter the Gain on a Clip by Clip basis.
With using the audio mixer it appeared I had to mute each clip separately.  When I highlighted all the clips and selected mute for audio 1 it wouldn't mute all of the selected clips.
The Audio Mixer works at the Track-level, and not at the Clip-level. That is why I use it so often - one click, or slider adjustment affects the entire chosen Track. If it did not work at a Track-level for you, something is wrong. Now, if one has Clips on different Tracks, then Muting of all of those would be required, or one would have address things on a Clip-level basis.
Any way to use the audio mixer to mute the clips in mass?
See above for how it should work, and also the exceptions - Audio on several Audio Tracks.
Good luck, and remember that your Audio still resides in the Project Panel, should you ever need it again.

  • Only hear sound from one speaker

I have been going nuts trying to find help on this. There were some but not exactly the same. So here is my dilemma.
I am capturing miniDV footage from my camera (Sony DVR PC 330) and used a Sennheiser MKE 300 Shotgun Video Camera Mike to capture audio. Then I captured in into FCE and also Toast 6. Both only produced audio on the left side. Now I checked the speakers, used headset and it was the same. I listened to iTunes and audio from other sources and both speakers and headset worked fine on both sides. Only bringing in from my camera did the sound from only the left speaker. So it's my camera or external mic. Well, I checked that too and I listened to the tape with headsets and heard everything fine on both sides. So the tape has all the audio. So could it be that the firewire is bad? Or is there something I have overlooked. Last week I imported a CD into FCE and produced a CD of audio that was fine. So the program is not at fault I would think. Any ideas would be great.

    Panning on audio . . . . .>
The panning is set all the way to the left and shows -1. But this is the default setting. As when you click the little red (x) it will go to the left. And I just opened another project that works fine and it is all the way left with -1. If I move that sequence it sound less full with not bass or something, it just isn't right. So not sure this is the solution. And now I have to go out of town for a few days so will look forward to any other thoughts you all have when I return. Keep thinking
