Background to Debug mode

Hi,
I am running a program in Background job. But it was giving dump.
Could any one let me know how can i do debug in
background mode.
Thanks
Gopi.

Hi,
In transaction SM50, you can choose the background process running this program and cleck the menu item Program/Mode --> Program --> Debugging...
If it is a Z-Program write an endless loop(at the start of the program) with an exit condition(which does not exit normally)...so that the background process will be stuck in this loop...Then choose debugging as mentioned...then change the exit condition correctly in debugging so that you are out of the endless loop...This is for making sure that the by the time you get to SM50 the execution is not over....
Thanks & Regards,
Renjith.

  • Want to see debug mode thru background process

I am excuting a job in background mode...with start immdiately.
and its triggering a functionmodule.I wan o know what valuehave been passto the function modul.and I want to ee the function modul in debug mode.
There is no way to process the job in foregound and I am running th dunning through F150.

Insert an endless loop with a condition that will never occur inside your code.
    like
    a = 5.
    while a > 1.
    a = 5.
    endwhile.
This keeps your job to be in Running status in SM50.
Chose this process and chose from menu Program/ Session->Programming->Debugging.
    This starts the debugger.
In the debugger, you can change the value of a to break the endless loop. and continue debugging.

    Hi,
I am calling an RFC enabled FM BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_DATA_MODIFY and BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_SAVE to modify the data of a notification. These function modules are called within another FM which is also a RFC called in background as a separate task. The problem here is that, the data gets modified fine only when I am in the debugging mode and execute it. But if I execute without going to the debug mode, I cannot modify the notification data. Kindly suggest why this is happening and what the solution is. Thanks

  • Remittance advice layout --can't go into debugging mode from F110

    Hi All,
I need to do some changes in layout ZF110_DDRF_DE as per customer requirements for remittance layout printing , payment method ' V' .I want to debug the script .
When I use the F110 Trannsaction for payment run , it is creating output in spool directly with going into debugger even though I activated the debugger for script .
    1) I think F110 creating a background job for printing.can  any body tell me if there is another transaction to run the payment so that i can go into debugging mode ?.
    Many thanks ,
    Dharma

    Hi dharma,
Yes, if u want script in debug modeyou should active debugger in both program and script level. Active debug from script side and put break point in your program and run F110 with all neccessary input values. Then if u select print priview then your script will be open in debugging mode. Hopes this help you.

  • Detect DEBUG mode in ABAP code

    Hi all,
Is there a way to detect that we are in DEBUGGING mode in ABAP code.
I need to determine this, because we have function modules that will be runned in a separate process in the background. If i could detect DEBUG mode, i could choose not to run these modules in the background, making debugging them possible.
    Regards,
    Rob.

When you debug a program that calls function modules using the IN BACKGROUND TASK addition, they are processed in a background work process (additional internal session). If you set the In background task: Do not process option, the system collects the function calls, but does not start the background work process. The Debugger assigns a transaction ID, which identifies the background work process uniquely. You can now start the Debugger for the background work process using transaction SM58. You can select the function module concerned here, and then execute it via the Edit menu.

There is a system variable SY-DEBUG, not sure if it works, though.

  • ESS in debugging mode

    Hi All,
When an employee logs in to ESS portal, need to know how this logging on takes place in the background (ABAP code, FM etc). Need to know what FMs/BAPIs are called right from the first step where it checks the userid info in infotype 0105.
In other words, the need is to see in debugging mode while the employee logs on.
Need to know what FMs are used and where to put the breakpoints etc.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Wow! You're really asking for it eh? haha You actually will have lots going on and not sure a trace will help you make sense of it all. Just from a high-level...
    (1) login into portal => userid/pword are authenticated against whatever the portal uses as a source (ldap server, portal db, R3/ system, etc). If it passes this authentication, the portal then locates the user in it's own db to find what PORTAL roles to assign to build out the user's portal specific to them.
    (2) Assuming single sign-on is set up, the portal issues a SAP Logonticket that is passed to the backend systems. This Logonticket is just a fancy non-persistent, encrypted cookie that contains (a) the userid (b) the portal's "key".
    (3) when the user (via the portal) makes a request to the backend system, the portal "hands" the Logonticket to the other system. The other system checks the "key" and says "ok, yep this is the portal...I trust the portal...no need to check the userfurther such as password". The backend system then will take the userid (again, no password needed) and check that that userid actually exists. Let's assume it does. As with the portal, the backend system can now determine what security authorizations and roles (don't confuse with a portal role!) the user has.
    (4) Now...that gets us to the "login" part of the backend. In the case of your ESS needs, we now could be playing with any number of possibilities.
-ITS service which in turn is really running a SAP transaction (most common for ESS)
-Webdynpro which is a Java app that calls SAP via BAPIs/RFCs
-direct GUI access (via SAP WINGUI launched from portal)
-other (custom apps that call RFCs/BAPIs)
With all of the above there is usually some code in there that right off the bat will take the userid and try to find what employee it matches. Userid (ie. a system user record) is linked to employee records via infotype (kind of a HR table) 0105 (communication), subtype 0001 (SAP Userid). Given the current date, it will try to find which employee record has this userid assigned to IT0105 ST0001 (lots/most of HR records are date driven). If no employee record is found for the userid, you typically get an error that states something to the effect of "this userid does not match an employee record for this period".
From this point, all of the "what's going on" largely depends on what ESS service you are trying to perform (address change, benefits enrollment, etc).
    Hope this helps.

  • Debug-mode and function calls

    Hi there,
I'm coding a program in SE38 in a BW environment and there is a function call made (RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ). It seems that the table returned by this function won't accept double entries (which should be the case for standard tables), however, when I execute my program in debug mode, it does everything like it should. Anyone knows why it doesn't work when i choose execute as background job? It's hard to find what's wrong since in debug all goes well...
    thank you,
    Tom

Why not debug the program in background running? You can add a endless loop before the code you are interested in, and then enter debug mode to jump to the focus code at background job console.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? We have written a non-express

    -----------------------------------------------

    Hi,
We have had the same problem in a non-express application
with a heavy server partition. In our case, the error was not
systematic, depending on the server workload at the time we
    tried to partition and run.
The work-around we're using is to put the -fm flags (increasing the x
parameter to say 30000) in the 'server arguments' of your server
    partition
properties in the partition workshop. Note that if your server is a Unix
    platform,
you need to put double-quotes before and after the parenthesis in the -fm
    syntax.
    Hope this helps,
    Vincent Figari
BTW, what Forte version are you using ?

Subject: Can't Run program in Debug Mode
Has anyone else experienced this problem? We have written a
    non-express
program that uses the Express generated services project as a supplier
plan. However, when we try running this program in debug mode about
    50%
(or more) of the time we abend while Forte is trying to partition the
application. Since we have many database classes in our Business
    Model we
are wondering if Forte is timing out during the partition phase or if
    the
server partition is running out of memory . The following error
    messages
are produced by Forte. Any suggestions???

  • Can not view contents of variable in debug mode (version 1.1.1.5.0)

    Hi
I am running on WebLogic 11R1 and using OEPE 1.1.1.5.0.
When Fast swap is enabled and I run WebLogic in debug mode using OEPE I can not view the contents of variables with the Eclipse debugger. I get the message "Expressions must contain either an expression or a block containing a well formed statement"
However, if I disable Fast swap, i can view the variable within the Eclipse debugger
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Regards
    Steve H

Small correction... the soon-to-be-released version of WebLogic Server that Danny was referring to is 11gR1 PatchSet 2 or 10.3.3.

  • FlashBuilder 4.7 will not run in Debug mode with BlackBerry 10 simulator

We have developed an app that has been released both for Apple and Android working well.
When trying to do the same for BlackBerry it was rejected because it did not start at all.
The App that runs fine on the BlackBerry simulator in the "run configurations mode".
However when I try to run it in Debug mode it will not start at all. Just flashes and simulator goes back to main menu.
The debugger will after a while time out since it cannot connect to the app running on the simulator.
BlackBerry 10 Simulator runs under vmWare Fusion.
    Anyone seen this before?

Hi, Silence04. Welcome to the Discussions.
You had serious disk directory corruption. That can also cause corruption in OS files: while Disk Utility or DiskWarrior may fix the directory, if the directory corruption resulted in OS files being damaged — as it appears to be in this case — then you can't avoid an Archive and Install. For important tips on this, see my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the specified order.
    Good luck!

  • SRM 7.0 - Unable / How to get into DEBUGGING mode in BADI

    Hello SAPions,
I am unable to get into debugging mode from WebDynpro Portal screen to R/3 BADI in SRM 7.0 .
I placed a breakpoint in the BADI, and logged into the portal screen.
However, in SRM5.0, to get into debugging mode from ITS, we place a break point in the BADI, when we browse the ITS link from the IE browser, we will be able to get into debuggin mode.
    Any other way ?
    Regards,
    Ashwin.

    Hello,
    Please check the following:
    1. Application server name, the SAP GUI and the portal should be logged into the same application server.
    2. You should be logged in with the same User in both SAP GUI and the Portal.
    3. External debugging should be enabled for the User in SAP GUI.
    4. Also try checking the check box , IP Matching . This can be done as below:
Utilities -> Settings ->  ABAP Editor -> Debugging ->  IP Matching.
Also please check the following in the above link , if you have the same user name here with which you have logged onto Portal and the New Debugger Radio Button is Selected.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Sapna

  • How to fill internal table with no data in debugging mode

    Hi all,
I modified one existing program. Now I want to test it.I am not given test data.So in the middle of my debugging, I found that one internal table with no data.My problem is how to fill that internal table with few records in that debugging mode just as we change contents in debugging mode.If I want to proceed further means that internal table must have some records.
Please I dont know how to create test data so I am trying to create values temporarily in debugging mode only.
    Thanks,
    Balaji

    Hi,
In the debugging do the following..
    Click the Table button..
Double click on the internal table name..
Then in the bottom of the screen you will get the buttons like CHANGE, INSERT, APPEND, DELETE..
Use the APPEND button to insert records to the internal table..
    Thanks,
    Naren

  • How to start the server in debug mode

    HI
Im working on weblogic server 8.1 sp. My requirement is to run the application in hosted on weblogic server with out restaring the server i.e dynamiically turn to debug mode with out stopping. IM using Log4j method for logging. please let me know how to do it... if any one have sample java code
    Thanks & regards
    shiva

I am not sure, how can you do it on the fly, but if you want to restart the server here are the parameters you need to add to the java arguments
    -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=$Port
(where Port will be any port you want to connect to).

    Any clues anyone?

get a SIGSEGV every time I use debug mode in EclipseSo if you create a hello world program and then debug it, it crashes?
If yes then the causes would be
    1. The VM(s) binaries are corrupted. Plural as it depends on how you run Eclipse.
    2. Something else installed on your system at the OS level (or at least always running) is corrupt or is corrupting the OS.
    3. A hardware failure.
