Background User BWREMOTE got changed to Dialog user

Hello,
Recently we had a refresh in our system and after the refresh I found that a background user BWREMOTE got changed to dialog user and more strange the change documents is showing that the BWREMOTE has itself changed the user type. anybody can comment to this scenario?

Looks like an amateur job (using dialog type user).
You need to restrict the access of bwremote itself.
The first step is S_USER* objects to display only.
Contact your BW developer team. For sure they did it.

Difference between Dialog and Background User

Dear Sap Gurus,
What is the difference between a Dialog user and a Background user. I have asked a specific role to be assigned to Auditors, but the consultants have said that they cannot grant that role because it will give access to very sensitive data. They in turn suggested that they will create a background user with that role.
what is the difference between a dialog user and a backgroud user and how it relates to sensitivity of data ?

Dialog user type is your "typical" user type for people who log in to SAP & use it in their day to day work.
Background user is used to schedule batch & background jobs and basically run stuff in the background (hence the name). The most important thing to know is that you cannot login with a Background user which renders the recommendation of your consultant rather irrelevant and given the required use of it, a demonstration that they may not quite know as much as they profess to do.
Each user type can only do what is defined by it's roles (in most cases). If a role assigned to a dialog user gives access to very sensitive data then it will give the same access to a background user and this is not too hard to exploit.
Furthermore, it is usually expected for auditors to have access to sensitive data (depending on what they are auditing) however they should only be displaying this data. They need no change access, and should not be requesting it, a wide access display role covering functional & technical display roles & access to display table data should suffice for 99% of audits. If someone suggests that this access can only be assigned to a background role then I am surprised unless there are some very specific circumstances.

Background user Changed to BIA-User from BWALEREMOTE

Hi Experts,
I am facing a issus with User. Process chains are triggred through ControlM, and all infopackages in PCs triggred with CONTROLM user and background user is BWALEREMOTE.
Recently some processchains failed because of BIA-USER not having authorization to trigger the Infopakage. For those PCs only the background user changed from BWALEREMOTE to BIA-USER.
Basis people using BIA-USER for other perpuse.
Please let me know how to correct the issue.(background user back to BWALEREMOTE for those infopackages)

I think we have an option of changing the execution user of the process chain by which this can be prevented
just give it a try it may help you
for the process chain
go to change mode
in the menu bar->Process chain->Attributes->execution user
Select Special user give aleremote there and active the process chain
and try with basis id executing it through se37

background user is created via transaction su01, there is option for dialog or background user.
if use transaction spro, SAP NetWeaver > Business Intelligence > Automated Processes > Create User for Background Processes

Password reset for background user

Hello
I have not idea as to why the background user (ALEREMOTE) password gets autoamtically re-set. I'm keep getting ERROR during data load as " Logon is not possible - Too many failed attempt.
I would like to know, why and where the password is getting re-set. I checked in RFC connection and where else could be possbile that user ALEREMOTE would have wrong password. How would I check the user level trace or log, to understand where and what is going on ?

Thanks Dennis. is this S_BCE_68001402 transaction is correct ? when I ran this transaction, I got a message like mo matching user found. then why it is giving me this ERROR too many failed attmepts - user locked for background userid ALEREMOTE.

Authorizations for background user

Hi everyone,
        Is it ok to assign the user(system user) sap_all profile under whom a background job runs. Is it against the security audit policies. or should we assing only those authorzatons that are required to run the program in the background job.

Hi Neha,
You don't need to provide SAP_ALL for any system user id for daily Business you create. And of course it is against Audit policies to provide such access to Background user. This user id should be of type System.
The authorizations for such user ids should be:
SBTCH_NAM       Background Processing: Background User Name_
BTCUNAME = <respestive user name that are going to be authorized for Batch Job execution>
SBTCH_JOB       Background Processing: Operations on Background Jobs_
JOBACTION = *
JOBGROUP = *
S_BTCH_ADM       Background Processing: Background Administrator
This is required for the administrator administering background Jobs.
Also check the following note: Note 101146 - [Batch: authorization object S_BTCH_JOB, S_BTCH_NAM|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/101146]
Also the user needs access to following Authorizations:
S_ADMI_FCD       System Authorizations
S_CTS_ADMI       Administration Functions in the Change and Transport System
S_LOG_COM       Authorization to execute logical operating system commands
S_RZL_ADM       CCMS: System Administration

BPS retraction (CCA) - authorizations for background user (R/3)

Hi,
I'm trying to retract plandata for statistical key figures from BW to R/3. During data retraction I get an error message in BW. The message is about missing authorities on R/3 side, but without any detailed information. We use the standard backround user for BW => R/3 RFC connections. So my question is, if the background user needs additional authorizations for data retraction? Are there any notes or documentation?

I remember having faced this issue...
I fixed it by creating a RFC connection for the retraction itself connecting with a service user (S_BWRETR) having profiles SAP_ALL, SAP_NEW.

Logging-Out Causes Background User to Logout

Since upgrading to Yosemite, about 50% of the time when a current user logs-out a background user is also logged-out. The logout happens without any warning or request for an administrator password.
How would I begin troubleshooting this?

I have the same issue. I have a number of accounts logged in at once on my iMac. Every so often, when I go to switch to another one of the logged in accounts, it's almost as if the GUI crashes and the login screen shows that none of them are logged in any more.
However, some of my accounts are running servers and the ports remain in use. Activity monitor shows some of the processes are still running, too.
I have to reboot when this happens to clear everything out. I never saw this under Mountain Lion or Mavericks.
I have 24GB RAM, so memory is not an issue.

Background user to run process chains

Hello
For process chains attributes there is an attribute which s execution user. Now for all the process chains the execution user will always be selected as background user by default.
My question here is where is this background user set. IS this a BI activity to be performed or something needs to be set by the basis.

GR based IV is disabled but it got changed

HI gurus ,
We are using SRM 5.0 Extended classic scenario, ECC 6.0
In the Purchase Order ,item data-> Follow-on documents -> Confirmation-Related Invoice Verification is disabled.
But somehow the GRIV indicator got changed , I can see the change log for the same.
User just changed the Requester and Goods recepient , but the change log shows he changed the GRIV indicator too.There have been no changes on the GRIV field in the vendor master.Also when the changes were done, there were already some partial GR and invoices posted for the PO.
Because of this , the PO fell into 'error in process' from 'ordered' status. Although I have removed the GRIV indicator at the table level and pushed the PO again into ECC which has changed the status of the PO to 'ordered' again, I want to know how the GRIV indicator got changed automatically ?
Is there any OSS note for this ??

We are on SRM 7.0 ECS , support pack SAPKIBKV08.
Our vendor master in SRM has following flags set:
GR= set
IR = set
GR based IV=set
Now in an SRM PO , buyer wants to set the following flag:
GR = buyer wants to set
IR =buyer wants to set
GR based IV= buyer wants to reset GR based IF flag , since the invoice comes before the GR and has to be paid
But in the SRM system , if GR flag is set , and IR flag is set , then GR based IV flag gets set automatically. Buyer is unable to uncheck it. This is a bug in the system , how to resolve this. the above mentioned notes, 1010791, 1445234,1114343 are not applicable to the system .
(If a PO was directly created in ECC system , and GR falg and IR flag is set , then buyer can manually uncheck the flag)

How to know whether any item value got changed

How to know in Apex whether any form item got changed. That will help me to know when the user will be pressing the "Apply Changes" button and I will popuplate the "User Modifed" and "Date Modifed" column values in the table. For now, I dont want to write database triggers, but to implement it at application level.

You will notice in his example, that the apex_application.g_f40 is specifically named as 40 - a high number assuming that you don't have more than 39 editable columns in you tabular form - shown in the name="f40" code.

In essence the columns are numbered (only the editable ones) in the order in which they appear in the select statement - so the first editable column will be f(01), next f(02) etc - except where the column is specifically named - in this case f(40).
I had a situation where I wanted to programatically stamp the user's name into a column depending on whether the user checked a check-box in each row.
But if the column is editable and visible, then the user is free to type into this cell - this I wanted to avoid.
Something that took me a while to work out is that you can hide an editable column - so it can updated by your procedure code - not by the user!
The way to solve this is to have the sql statement select the relevant column twice - the first one is the editable one and hidden, and the second copy is a normal report column - displayed but not editable.
I used Patrick's example in the link above to set up my tabular form with the first column as a check-box.
The user then marks the desired rows by clicking in the check-box and submits / saves.
The procedure then detects which rows have been checked - updates the editable (but hidden) database column, and then re-displays the result - with the second copy of the same column now showing the updated value!

After the upgrade of SAP the screen got changed

the available tab in the screen got changed after the upgradation.
the changes of the upgrade has been transported to testinf server . But in production system the tabs are different in Project System CJ20N. Here earlier it was artist but aftre upgrade in testing environement its Cust. Enhancement also one new tab introduced LONG TEXT.
PLEASE PROVIDE THE SOLUTION.

Im SM37 the log shows that the job has been cancelled because 'No Vendor Specified'
Is that any variant needs to be specified.

Please check the SM21 log and the corresponding work process trace (dev_wX - X refers to the work process number used by the job, can be seen from SM21) for errors.
