Background video shows up black after burning.

Hi,
I added a video to one of my blank menus. In the preview it shows up correctly. But after I burned it to Bluray I could hear the audio only. The rendered .m2v-file in my encore projekt folder is just black, too. So I tried the same in an encore dvd-projekt and all worked fine. The rendered .m2y-file is absolutely correct. Why does encore render my backgroundvideo wright in a dvd projekt but wrong in a bluray projekt?
Thanks for your answers,
junk.box

Your background video ay have an issue:
Select the "wedding" group of the library templates. Bring in "Floral." This is a motion menu. Make it first play. Render motion menus. Does the background video play? If so, use the motion background for this one (NTSC_Floral Menu.m2v) in your other menu. Render motion menu. Does it play in yours? If so, you have a problem with your background video.
This was from this thread that explored some other issues if that doesn't work.

  • QT movie mostly black after burn/Best way from DV /w 12 bit audio to MPEG2?

    Sorry for combining two questions.....
My Quick Time movie looks fine in the QT player but when added to iDVD and then burned, a few frames look OK and then it mostly goes black, as if a terrible filter has been applied. I'm running OS10.4.6 with QT7.0 and iDVD6. The QT movie was output from Avid free DV cause the original had 12 bit audio which foiled iMovie (and One-Step iDVD). Once it's in QT format, this should no longer be an issue, right? And this problem is with the video, not audio.....
Are there free QT to MPEG2 compressers out there? If so, I will burn the DVD myself...
And what's the best and cheapest app to go directly from 12 bit audio DV source footage to an MPEG2 output movie appropriate for DVD? I don't need fancy editing tools - I just wanna get my footage onto DVD.
    Any help is appreciated!

I can't download from the Sony because of the fried FireWire IC... Any tape recorded in the Sony is then imported from the Canon. BTW, the new version of the ZR100 is ZR500.
'Ya know, I'm glad you asked this question. I took a 4-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable and connected both camcorders to see if I could record from the Sony to Canon. It works.
Not only that, but I can import from the Sony now into iMovie 6... It wouldn't even show up in System Profiler last summer. I'm now wondering if it was something in Tiger. It wouldn't show up on my neighbor's G5 either, and we keep our systems up-to-date. Maybe it needed a rest.
the QT movie going black after iDVD burn? Think that is due to QT7?
7.1 fixed two problems for me. Try it.

  • Video showing as black in CS6 on iMac CS6

I've just finished working on a summer playscheme project, and have handed the footage over to one of the participants to edit.
It was shot in HDV on a Sony Z1, and I captured it from tape to my PC as MPEG using Premiere. So this is 1440 x 1080 interlaced footage with a PAR of 1.333
The young lad has an iMac with Premiere CS6.04 on it. He rang me to say that the video was just black and couldn't be seen in Premiere. He'd imported the folder with the footage in, and Premiere incorrectly saw it as Progressive and as 1444 x 1080 with square pixels. Even after I talked him through the process of reinterpreting the footage it still wouldn't show up as anything but black in the bin, source, or project. MPE is software only.
I suggested to him that we start again from scratch. He made a new project. He used the Media Browser to navigate to the assets folder, and this time he could see the .mpeg clips as video. He imported one as a test. We checked that Premiere had recognised the PAR and field order correctly, which it had. We were able to make a sequence from this clip, and play it back in the timeline. All great, I thought, and left him to import the rest of the assets.
Hour later he calls me back to say that everything had reverted to black again. So we started from scratch again, and lo and behold, this time Premiere's media browser only saw the clips as black.... and when we imported one into the project, the properties were again misinterpreted, just as at the beginning.
SO we're stuck. The clips open and play back fine in Quicktime player but inside Premiere they only show as black.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem, and what we might do to troubleshoot it? Or even better, to solve it?
    Thanks
    Mark

When will newcomers notice there is an ACR Forum?
Drollery aside, it is of course understandable that many people seem to perceive ACR as part of Photoshop, but it is, if I understand correctly, maintained and developped by a team of its own and there is a Forum dedicated to it specifically. (edited)

  • Facebook videos show a black box why?

Why do facebook videos show up as a black box

Do you see this issue in other browsers?
Chrome maintains it's own version of Flash Player, but they've recently switched from the NPAPI (Netscape Plug-In API) version that we ship for Firefox and Safari to the PPAPI (Pepper API) version.  This may be a bug that's unique to the PPAPI version of Flash Player.=
What's the URL to the game/video that you're seeing the problem with?
I checked a few videos with my machine and they played fine.
Does disabling hardware acceleration help?  Instructions below:

    Hi all,
I've been attempting to change the background colour of the menu bar of my photoshop, for some reason instead of being a white background with black text, i have the below.
The machine I am running has:
    Photoshop CS4

    4GB of Ram
Any help would be really be appreciated, thank you for you time,

If you have not set an oddball theme on the desktop (which Photoshop mostly ignores), it could be that you have a video driver glitch.
I think the first thing I'd try is this:  Right-click on the open desktop, choose Personalize,  then save your current theme.  Now select the Windows 7 theme, just to make sure everything's set in a known way.
    Does the problem persist?
If so, then it's likely a video driver update will help...  Visit the web page of the maker of your video card, locate the latest driver version for your hardware and version of Windows, download, and install.

  • Hangs on Writing Out and comes up black after burn.

    Hello All,
I just tried to burn a project of mine twice. Both times I could see iDVD rendering my menus, etc. It will burn rather quickly and will hang on "writing out...." before it spits out the DVD. I dont get any errors, and the DVD shows up when I insert it. However, the DVD just comes up as a black screen. If i hit the menu button in DVD Player, it will say "not permitted" and I cant see anything but a black screen. When I take the DVD out i can see that its been written to. The back of the DVD has a nice black ring around it from being written to. I am using DVD-R media. Also, when i look at my project stats it doesnt say that I have used up any space, but everything looks great when I preview it before burning.
    Thanks,
    -- Steven

Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (not the .img, the one below) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. Your SuperDrive tray will open. Insert a recordable DVD. (DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
b Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • My video previews turns black after a few seconds

I have Skype version 7.4. and use it to Skype with my sister. When I first start the video conversation, my image appears in the little box. Within a few seconds, the image disappears and I have a black/blank box. I am using a Logitech camera that's only a few weeks old. Why does my image disappear and how do I permanently fix this problem?

  • Voice and Video out of sync after burn in iDVD

We are having trouble keeping the voices and movement together after a burn. Can anyone give us a suggestion?

    Barbara and Amy
You may have experienced what many of us have encountered. Cameras are usually set to record in 12 bit audio. When these recordings reach iMovie they edit and play fine but when they go on iDVD the sound is out of sync.
Switch your camera to 16-bit in future to prevent/minimise the effect.

  • Most of my drop down menus showing faded black after installing final cut pro x.. Any ideas?

I recently just installed final cut pro x on my computer. After installing it and rebooting, I noticed that my login picture was faded and orange looking and my drop down menus fonts are thick black text instead of the normal and certain menus are faded and blackened out looking. Any ideas? I have a Macbook pro 2.4GHz core 2 duo with 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 running Lion 10.7.3  ...
The only thing i can think of is the final cuts pro software that maybe did it because nothing else was installed or downloaded.
Furthermore, is there a good software that Apple suggest as far as cleaning your computer and optimizing it's performance? I DO NOT want Mackeeper or any of that mess.
    Your help is appreciated

Appreciate your help Ian and others.   I have since uninstalled FCS and reinstalled FCXP only to get the same thing. Loading FCXP stalls at "Looking for Compressor Support".  When I first downloaded FCXP from the App store I didn't notice that FCS was being placed in it's own folder.  It's not something I did manually.  Although moved into it's own folder with FCXP on the same drive.  I was not able to open FCS apps. They would load and then "quit unexpectantly".  They opened just fine before I downloaded FCXP.  Do I need to purchase Compressor so that FCXP recognizes it? It seems this is where it stalls. It doesn't explain however why my computer "FREEZES" while doing this.  I am in the process of re-installing Lion to see if this helps, otherwise I am at a complete loss.

  • Video playback suddenly black after ATI video driver update?

Totally bizarre - I updated to the latest drivers using RadarSync.  Now videos from my flip (mpeg4) all play back as all black, unless I move the "Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Troubleshoot/Hardware acceleration" slider to "Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3d" or lower.
Anyone else encountered this issue where videos start playing as all black?  It seems to be independent of the decoder (xvid or ffmpeg) or video player (Microsoft Video player, VLC) application that I use.

I replaced all the ATI drivers with the ones directly from the website, which down-graded me to the 2007 version of the "ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2" 6.14.10.6547
    Works great!

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

  • Background Video In Idvd

I made a dvd and was able to export a clip from imovie to use as the background
video in idvd. I burned the dvd and it looks great. I then updated most of the
Imac software from apple. And now I can not find the settings for exporting a clip.
The settings have changed and I have tried three or more times on my next dvd
but the background video still looks terrible.
The frist time I used Imovie to export it as a .dv clip and then I dragged it on to the
background video in idvd menu. I Then tried to export the clip as a QuickTime file as
full quality and only clips selected. The clips still looks bad. I have tried ecpert settings
where I have it set to the clip as move to dv stream and I left the options on default.
The last time I replayed the video tape and imported a small 3 min clip to use as the
background video. I then copy the clip on to the desk top and then into Idvd.
I burned the dvd and the background video still look bad.
    Im using a Imac 10.4.11(85165)
    Imovie HD 6.0.3 (267.2)
    Idvd 6.0.4.(797)
    Thanks Mr Golf.

You may have done this already, but whenever you do updates you should follow with a permissions repair, and then delete preferences for iMovie and iDVD.
If you haven't done it before: Delete preferences by closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the House icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility App on your Mac. Open the Disk Utilities window and select the Mac hard drive icon at the top of the side pane at the left. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. When you have repaired permissions and deleted preferences, restart your computer and launch iMovie. iMovie will replace the .plist file that you deleted. Be sure also that you have sufficient free disk space on your hard drive for iMovie to function correctly. 20GB often is recommended by users of this forum. After doing all of the above, relaunch iMovie and see whether you still have the problem.

  • Motion tracking and exporting layers with the background video

Is it possible to apply the motion tracking data to a new object in a new layer and then output, or export, that layer as an overlay plane (or perhaps in the alpha channel) so that the new object can be interactive (perhaps in a flash swf format)?
I would like to create an interactive layer of objects (created through motion tracking) above a background video layer.
Is After Effects the right tool for this job?

You are severely oversimplifying the matter. Interaction means establishing rules and this in turn requires programming. Ergo, you absolutely cannot avoid Flash and ActionScript. You can certainly do the tracking in AE and then use CS4's "Export to Flash" feature to get the raw setup into Flash, but the work doesn't stop there. For older versions of AE you will need alternate ways to import the tracking data, e.g. by ways of text files, but really, this is much more a Flash topic than one for the AE community, so better ask your questions there.
