Background won't appear in Live View?

Ok, so my problem is, the selected background won't appear in Live View, as the title says.
I figured this is because I just bought an external hard drive today, and moved all my files, thus changing the root folder. So I edited the root folder under Sites>Manage Sites>Edit...
... which did nothing.
So then I thought, "maybe I'll just have to start from scratch," which I tried. So I started a new page with a new css design, created a new root folder for it and dropped my background .jpg there, and the same thing happened. I can see the image in Design and Split, but not Live View. I've really scoured the internet for a solution, and most people just having ending being a problem with the root folder, but considering I tried it with a new document, I don't think that's it.
So, anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Right, seeing your code will help us more than our guessing, but... Check to make sure that your background image is IN your root folder, and that the link to it is correct.
If the file is outside the root folder, even if the link is 'correct', the file will not be seen in Live View, which (as far as I know) looks no further than the root folder and all within it for its images.
You speak of making a page and THEN defining a site. You will (in my humble opinion) be much better off if you started out by defining your site. That way, you can also make sure that your image files are inside your root folder, and that your links are correct.

  • Certain images not appearing in Live View?

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my Dreamweaver CS5 and have noticed that certain images are no longer appearing in Live View. When Live View is unclicked, both of the images appear in both Design View and Preview in Browser; however, when Live View is clicked, the question mark appears for new images that were not used in Dreamweaver previous to the update. Does anyone know a fix to this? I have already tried to uninstall/re-install the software. Thanks for your help.

What is the exact code path to images?
How big are your images (filesize)?  Did you optimize them for the web in your graphics editor before inserting them into your web page?  Are they saved as RGB and not CMYK?

  • DW8 templates won't display in Live View

I have several sites that I've developed around templates
distributed with Dreamweaver 8. When I access these with
Dreamweaver CS4, everything works well in code and design view, but
java script and images don't seem to display correctly in Live
View. Live View seems to work fine with newly created pages in DW
CS4, but my existing sites will not display. Anybody run into this?
DW CS4 on a iMac (2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running under
    10.5.5.

    > I had to do one other thing besides

    relative to site root"

That will change future links, and template paths updated
    later- but it
    won't change existing paths.
    http://e7x.com/dw/
relativity extension. works in current versions of dw AFAIK.
Note- if you set up a local testing server and use site root
    relative paths,
you will need to set up a "virtual host name" in your
    server's config file
and possibly the Hosts file of your OS so that you can use a
    url of
    http://mysite.local
    instead of
    http://localhost/mysite/
because site root relative won't work when the
site is in a subfolder, the way dw will write them.

  • My css won't render in live view on dreamweaver cc?

I created a html and css file on my personal computer, and put the files on a shared network, but when I try to access this files on a different computer the css doesn't render in dreamweaver live view. I need help please?

Check the following location on the machine that is not displaying the css...
From Dreamweaver go to View > Style Rendering > Display Styles (needs to be checked)
Also check to make sure you are using Document Relative links in your .html page to the .css file. You "could" have an absolute path to the hard drive of the computer that created it, which would allow it to function correctly when viewed from that computer if the .css file still exists in its original location. When viewed from another computer without a file at that absolute path location, the css would not display.
It's all guesswork though without seeing the pages in question.

  • Charts won't appear in CR Viewer?

    Hello,
Currently trying to use the DHTML viewer to view a report with a chart, a line graph specifically.  The report is showing up blank, although text from the report will show up correctly.  The behavior is actually similar to loading up a blank chart, white in FireFox / IE8, grey in IE6.
The report was made in Crystal Reports 2008, I'm using the new service pack for Crystal Reports For Eclipse, and it's being served from Tomcat 6.  Looking through the logs, I haven't found any errors, although I'm only checking the logs in (Tomcat Dir)\logs.  The JSP was generated using the wizard in Eclipse, so there shouldn't be anything wrong with how the viewer is being invoked.
The report uses the results from a command datasource to fill the line graph, and there are parameters in the command.  These are not showing up in the DHTML viewer either.  It's almost like a blank report was entered.
Are there some libraries I need to include to get the chart to appear?  I'm new to all of this so please let me know any extra information I can provide, or if my terminology is off and I need to explain something.
    Thank you,
    John

You need to choose the right viewer for specific requirement. e.g,
Following are the types of the viewers with features.
View a basic report from a web page. -
    > DHTML report page viewer
View a report from a web page and search for a text string. -
    > DHTML report page viewer
View a report from a web page and drill down for further detail.----
    >  DHTML report page viewer*
View a chart from a web page and drill down for further detail.----
    >  report parts viewer
Prompt users for authentication information or parameters and pass the information to the report viewer.  -
    >  DHTML report page viewer or report parts viewer
Pass a selection formula or report source to the viewer.----
    >  DHTML report page viewer or report parts viewer
View a part of a report (such as a field) on a mobile device and drill-down for further detail.----
    >  report parts viewer
View a chart in Microsoft Office XP and refresh the chart via a smart tag.----
    >  report parts viewer*
So all these features can be enabled or disabled through the SDK.
When you use report parts viewer with crystal reports Java, the report must have report parts and navigation information defined, Crystal Reports Java does not support defininf report parts programmatically.

  • Pages won't display in live view or browsers

Yesterday they displayed.  Today they do not.  Tried looking at one of the Adobe templates - that displays fine.  Checked code at top of page, it is exactly same as code for Adobe template that displays.  Any ideas.
    Cathie

I am actually embarrassed to respond.  For some reason do not display was checked on my body div.  I am posting two other questions tho.
    (1)  I have a website with photos interspersed with the copy.  I would like to be able to find a way to overlay the photos with a floating div that would allow me to put captions in.  No luck so far.
    (2)  CSS.  There is clearly something I don't get.  I thought once you wrote a rule you could click on the content anywhere in the paragraph and it would change.  Not working for me.  Specifically I wrote some css to style photographs but when I check on the images and then the css nothing happens.
Thanks for trying to help with the other "DUH" issue.

  • Blank Page in Live view

I have a static site with 5 Pages all have worked fine up to now and all displayed correctly but I have added some new text to one page and when I try to preview it or look at it on Internet Explorer (uploaded to web already) the basic content is missing, my background colour and navigation bar is still there but the main title and content are missing?
Not changed any coding just added text and all other pages fine on site, anybody got any ideas? The content still shows in design view.

Sorry peeps I had added the content to a table which had expanded beyond the page margins, when I resized the table within the page margins it has appeared in live view again, thought I would update the thread incase it happens to others too, although I suspect nobody is as stupid as me ha ha

  • Rulers in Live view

We know that the design view many times can look big "disaster", so I better rely on the live view. Is it possible to have the rulers in live view? In design view is available but unfortunately I don't trust it, specially if I'm using other components which are not simple html. Maybe a plug in, extension? Dreamweaver CC 2014.1.1. Thanks a lot.

The way to get rulers in Live View in CC 2014.1 is to turn on Inspect Mode, using the icon highlighted in the following screenshot:
As you move your mouse pointer over different elements, rulers appear over Live View. They will be displayed both vertically and horizontally, but will sometimes be at the top/bottom or left/right, depending on what is highlighted at the time. You also get hairline guides from the selected element, as shown in the next screenshot.

  • CS4 Live View Won't Display External CSS

I have a simple .html file - all located on my local machine
with an external .css file located in the same folder as the .html
file. Everything displays fine in a browser. Live View won't
display items in my external css file. It displays items in the
inline file fine. If I move items from the external to the inline
file they will appear. Links are relative to the Document in the
site setup. No default images folder defined (images are in a
    folder called "images").
I know it's something simple and dunderheaded. Just getting
back into html after a little hiatus. Any help greatly
    appreciated.

    > If this is a static site, ignore the Live View button.
    > Test it in browsers using F12.
Live view will work fine in a static site, though.

  • Webpage looks good with tranparent boxes and photo background in live view but not in browsers

If anyone has time to help I would be very grateful.   I am new to dreamweaver and am trying to make a webpage with transparent colums and boxed text using styles.  It looks perfect in "live view" but when I look at it in any browser all formatting is gone.  It looks like the background with text on top layed out wrapped across the entire page.   I have not been able to figure out what is wrong in days of searching.  Does anyone know the answer?
This first the format I want and is what it looks like in Live View, the second is what it looks like in most browsers.
Here is the code I used:

            <h3>What does NBCS Do?</h3>
<p>Since 2004 The Narragansett Bay Coyote Study (NBCS) has been developing science-based coexistence and management strategies for our newest top predator.  Coyotes, originally a prairie species, have successfully colonized all parts of the continental and nearshore us in the past 100 years. They reached the islands of Narragansett Bay in the mid-1990s. Since then coyotes have become increasingly abundant and problematic in some island communities.</p>
<p>In our history of cohabitation with coyotes people consistently  tried to eliminate them by hunting, trapping, and poisoning. Lethal removal  worked for individual problem animals but did not work as a population control strategy. Why? Coyotes have intrinsic physiological and behavioral abilities to control their own numbers. If coyotes are removed they increase reproduction and numbers rapidly rebound. The critical population regulation trigger is competition for food. As long as coyotes are well fed (with few coyotes competing for food) their populations will grow. </p>
<p>It is also known that opposite effect occurs if coyotes if coyotes are stressed by competition for food. If there are too many coyotes competing for the food available coyotes will drop the the level sustainable by those resources.</p>
<p>Understanding this relationship, NBCS scientists decided to study the resource use of coyotes on two islands in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. We used GPS tracking collars to find out where the coyotes were spending thier time. We theorized that if we could identify important coyote food resources - and control them - the coyotes would bring their own numbers down. NBCS calls this &quot;passive coyote management.&quot;</p>
<p> Since 2005 when we trapped and collared our first island coyotes we have continually found that the most important food resources to our study are provided by people. That means they are within our control That means we can control coyotes. If we remove anthropogenic resources (human subsidies) coyote numbers will drop to the level sustainable by natural resources. When coyotes are sustained only by natural prey (mice, woodchucks, rabbits, geese, and deer) coyotes numbers will be lower and they will provide helpful pest control services. </p>
<p>Based our scientific data NBCS generated a set of <a href="coyotes/Best Management Practices for Coexistence with Coyotes - Nov 8 2010.pdf" target="_new">Best Management Practices for Coexistence with Coyotes</a>- basically a toolbox for safe, sustainable, community coyote management. We are working with the towns in our study area to adopt the CBMPs and be the first community in the nation to successfully and sustainably manage coyotes. We also believe other cities and towns might be able to use our results as a template if they are experiencing coyote problems. We have only just begun to implement the CBMPs on our islands. We hope in the near future to have all our towns implementing the CBMPs - only then will we see the full impacts they make on coyote numbers and behavioral problems. You can follow our progress on this website.</p>

Helo thanks for responding .  I think it uploads...  It says it does as an assocaiated file when I put to the website.  But that sounds like it is the issue. Those format commands seem to be the one it is ignoring.  I am not familiar with html but I see that the href command is what identifies the path to the file I call TCAStyles.  I notice that dw puts all my files in a local public file and the structure is different - with no public file - at the site.
I am not sure what the 2 dots in the href command mean - there is not a full path.  Is this command valid?  I will try to look into the directory structure on local and remote site and will check for files.

Im having trouble syncing google calendar.  If I add event to my calendar using my ipad mini, it won't appear on my google calendar when Im viewing it using my computer or phone.  However, if I post an event using my phone or computer, it appears on ipad mini, why is this and how do I fix it to where everything syncs both ways?

I mean, " perhaps I've got some kind of virus on mine, and I've passed it on to hers?"

  • In design view, how to change the white panel background so white text displays? (I keep having to go to Live view to see it)

When I'm adding white text it doesn't show up as the background input panel is white, and I keep having to go into Live view to see the paragraph spacings etc. Is there a way round this, other than changing the text colour in CSS to, for instance, black, and then changing it back before I upload the page?

Hi, and thanks, but it's my fault, I think I'm describing it wrong!
I've attached two screenshots from that area of the screen, one with the white text on the white background (showing as invisible) and the other where I've highlighted the text so you can see where it is. The background .jpg isn't a solid colour, it's a pattern, and if I added an equivalent pattern to the text area div, it wouldn't line up properly on all sreen resolutions, so that's why I gave that div a transparent background. When I go into Live view, the page displays perfectly, but in Design view I can't see to make amendments to the paragraphs etc.

  • Flash Image Viewer captions won't appear entirely

I am trying to insert an image viewer on a page to display
some pictures with captions below each one. When I insert the
images and text with the image viewer's default settings (colors,
text size, etc.) all the text appears. If I change any of the
settings (such as background to black, font color to blue, font
size, etc.), only 10 characters of the text appears for the first
image and the second image's caption doesn't appear at all. I've
resized the image viewer to make it larger and allow for more room
for the caption at the bottom. I've also inserted a smaller image.
I've deleted and recreated the entire object. I've created the
viewer on a different page with and without CSS formatting.
The most bizarre thing to me is that on the exact same page
with the same formatting, I could get the captions to appear in
their entirety. This makes me know it will work. I just don't know
what could have inadvertently changed. Is there some text length
modifier that limits the amount of the caption which will appear? I
have tried to change almost everything that appears for the
viewer's properties and nothing will solve the problem.
Thanks for any help or advice!

I read a site about the image viewer (resources on the web
are limited on this subject). Should I disable the frame border?
Should I ensure the image size matches the image viewer's size?
Even if I make those changes, it doesn't make sense to me how the
captions appear when I leave the viewer's properties at their
default settings and if I change anything (even colors), the
    captions disappear.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Background in live view different from design view

Why when I am looking at my page in design view it shows up black like I want it to, but when I go to live view or view it on the internet it shows up like the template color that it was when started?

Without the code, it's pretty tough to say what might be happening.
One thing to look at would be the order of you css, including the links to external .css files in the <head> of the page.
If you have two like selectors, for example, two versions of: body {background-color:some color here;}, the one that comes last in the stylesheet links, embedded css, or in the html itself (inline css) will be the one that's used by the browser.
