Why doesn't the repeating background image lineup at the
bottom with the
logo image in the top right? The slices are the same height,
so I would
think they would lineup.

Background won't appear in Live View?

Ok, so my problem is, the selected background won't appear in Live View, as the title says.
I figured this is because I just bought an external hard drive today, and moved all my files, thus changing the root folder. So I edited the root folder under Sites>Manage Sites>Edit...
... which did nothing.
So then I thought, "maybe I'll just have to start from scratch," which I tried. So I started a new page with a new css design, created a new root folder for it and dropped my background .jpg there, and the same thing happened. I can see the image in Design and Split, but not Live View. I've really scoured the internet for a solution, and most people just having ending being a problem with the root folder, but considering I tried it with a new document, I don't think that's it.
So, anyone have any suggestions?

Right, seeing your code will help us more than our guessing, but... Check to make sure that your background image is IN your root folder, and that the link to it is correct.
If the file is outside the root folder, even if the link is 'correct', the file will not be seen in Live View, which (as far as I know) looks no further than the root folder and all within it for its images.
You speak of making a page and THEN defining a site. You will (in my humble opinion) be much better off if you started out by defining your site. That way, you can also make sure that your image files are inside your root folder, and that your links are correct.

Camera running in the background; won't close

My phone wiped itself today. Finally got it back up and running: now the camera shows to be running in the background but when I click on it it won't come up. I can't close it! Anyone have any shortcuts or tips/something? My ringtones won't play as long as the camera is up and it really sucks

Animated gif background - Won't animate!

I have a website which my partner and I have created. I'm really happy with what we have achieved EXCEPT I am trying to add an animated star gif background which is stationary even when I've published it. I've searched so many places for the solution that I'm now thoroughly confused as to if this is possible.
The website is http://www.billieanthony.co.uk and I have added the animated gif to the welcome page only (black/blue stars) to see if it works (which to me doesn't). I added the gif via the page inspector layout section. The other pages only have a static background.
Any comment gratefully received even if it's only to say it can't be done.

Step one to enable the community to help debug what you're encountering would be to provide the URL for the page where the GIF is being used. My first guess would be there are effects applied to the image (i.e. inner glow, bevel, etc.) that require Muse to re-encode the image and Muse does not support encoding animated .gif. It only supports passing animated .gif files through unchanged. (And to get an image to pass through unchanged it needs to have no effects that require rasterization applied in Muse.)
Given you've stated the GIF file is 7.5Mb I have to question your choice of .gif. At 7.5Mb this single file will take ~8 seconds to download on the average US broadband connection and will be much slower for many broadband users and most cellular users. GIF is a reasonable choice for very small short animations used sparingly, but is seldom (if ever) a good choice for larger or longer animations. Better choices for those are to use a video or a tool like Edge Animate to create a HTML5/CSS3 animation. The end result will be vastly more user friendly in terms of page load performance.
A huge percentage of first time visitors to a webpage will cancel the page load rather than waiting 8+ seconds for the page load to complete.

My custom PhotoBooth backgrounds won't "stick"

I have added my own backgrounds into PhotoBooth using a variety of methods, and some of them are not appearing the next time I start PhotoBooth.
Here is the breakdown of how the backgrounds were added, and what the results are:
PIC 1- Taken in PhotoBooth - Dragged into Effects & used - Dissappears
PIC 2- Pic from iPhoto - Dragged into Effects & used - Dissappears
PIC 3- Pic from iPhoto - Dragged into Effects & used - Does not disappear
PIC 4- Pic from iPhoto - Dragged into Effects & never used - Does not disappear
PIC 2 was deleted from iPhoto after being dragged into PhotoBooth, which led me to believe that was the reason it would not appear in PhotoBooth after that. But I recovered the photo (using TimeMachine) and re-added it to PhotoBooth. Still disappears.
Is anyone else having similar problems with PhotoBooth?
(And yes, I'm having a heck of a time with backgrounds, too. Do I really need to set up a studio-like environment in my bedroom just to use this feature!?!?)
Maybe Apple shouldn't have been so quick to point out this feature before it worked well.

Thanks for sending the layout. It installed properly in Home/Library/Keyboard Layouts and I was able to select its (generic) icon in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen, and it worked fine in Pages 4 and Pages 5.

Contacts background won't change to white

When I change from dark to white, then close and reopen, nothing changes and there isn't a save button.

After changing the background color and tapping the Back button to get out the Settings scree, closing the Contacts app should be all that's required for the change to take effect.
Since it sounds like this isn't working here are two suggestions that might help
Open Contacts, go to Settings and turn on, or off the Dark Background setting. Tap Back followed by minimizing the Contacts app. After doing this, tap and hold the X in the bottom right corner of the active frame for roughly 4 to 5 seconds until the Contacts app closes. After doing this open the Contacts app again and it should show the desired background color.
Open Contacts, go to Settings and turn on, or off the Dark Background setting. Tap Back followed by minimizing the Contacts app. Press the Power/Lock key and tap Restart.

Photo Booth backgrounds won't work.

I choose them, (ie: the Eiffel tower) and it jumps to the full size, a message comes on saying "background detected". I move back into frame, BUT I'M NOT THERE! I hit the trigger and it counts down and either flashes or starts video capture, but I'm still not there, nor am I on the finished product.
I've tried hanging a dead black velvet cloth behind me, and a white sheet, as well as hitting the white sheet with a half million candlepower spotlight.
None of these made any difference.
All I ever get is the chosen background scene, without me in the foreground.
Any explanations or suggestions?

It turned out to be the firewire camera connection, for some reason. The camera also had a usb connection, and when I used that, it worked fine. I have no idea why.

Movie playing in background won't stop

I was watching a movie on hulu and cannot get it to stop playing in the background and I can't find it anywhere. Help please, it is driving me crazy.

If nothing else (CmdTab to switch to & quit Safari) log off of the Mac Pro, log back in. If the movie starts to replay at least you'll then be able to find the window in which it's playing.

White background won't disappear!

I am working with a simple background in Photoshop Elements. I have to take 2 images into the new Illustrator CS3 and create the cover for manual I created. I am saving each file as an EPS and JPEG format. When I open the documents into Illustrator and drag them onto the blank colored background I am working with as the cover, I still get the white background around the each image. How do you rid of this?! I was told it was a transparency issue, but I am not sure how to delete the white background in Illstrator. I do know how to in Photoshop Elements, however. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

EPS only supports transparency if you have a clipping path. JPEG does not support transparency. Save your files as PSD and File > Place those.

Transparent Background Won't Export

I've created an After Effects project using the Keylight plugin exactly as described in this video, http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/?id=vid0229. However, the Flash Video contains a white background and is not transparent. I've gone back over the steps to export with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

"Many file formats can include an alpha channel, including Adobe Photoshop, ElectricImage, FLV, F4V, TGA, TIFF, EPS, PDF, and Adobe Illustrator. AVI and QuickTime (saved at a bit depth of Millions Of Colors+), also can contain alpha channels, depending upon the codec (encoder) used to generate the images stored in these containers. For Adobe Illustrator EPS and PDF files, After Effects automatically converts empty areas to an alpha channel."

Solid color background won't stay as specified

I'm trying to put a gray (68c, 63m, 60y, 51k) background behind a smaller element in a clip. Every time I click okay, save and render the file, I go back and check the gray in the Solid color control tab, and it has changed to 77c, 73m, 71y and 38k. Very frustrating. Any one know what I'm doing wrong?
(I'm posting stills and video clips to a site that has a gray field I want to match. The CMYK settings I got from the stills when I set them up in Photoshop and they match the site background perfectly. That's why I'm using CMYK. It is odd that FCE lets you use CMYK, but it does, so it should work, right?)

I believe that while you can enter a color value in CYMK, the sequence you are working on in FCE is always in RGB colorspace. Therefore the CYMK value is converted to the nearest RGB value for display as video.

Background won't stay transparent

When I make a project with a transparent background the background becomes white when I export it for use in another application/program/etc.
When I create the project I set the background to transparent. I do not add a new background to compete with the transparent background.
Any way around this?

I have used Photoshop CS3 and worked primarily on a MAC for the past 5 years. However, at my current employment I have to perform all work using a PC, with Photoshop CS4. When using a MAC, I know you can select images that you wish to be transparent, go to Help, and export image as transparent, allowing you to bring this image into any program displaying only the object, no background is included. How can I perform the same function in Photoshop CS4 on a PC? I have tried searching for help or tips on-line, but instructions either don't work or not explained to where they make sense to me. I hate PC! I love my MAC!!!

Fluxbox background won't set

Just (seriously) trying Fluxbox for the first time and I'm having trouble getting my background to automatically set. I have
fbsetbg -f /my/bg/image.png
in ~/.fluxbox/startup and when I start fluxbox I see said wallpaper flicker on screen for a nano second before flux goes to the theme's default grey background. If I enter the command manually after fluxbox has started the wallpaper stays.
Any ideas what might be wrong? (I'm using feh, btw.)

The default theme appears to define its own background which is over-riding the one you are setting since fbsetbg is being executed before fluxbox has started. if you chage the entry to something like
( sleep 2 && fbsetbg -f /my/bg/image.png ) &
that should delay the execution of fbsetbg until after fluxbox is running and you should see your desired background.

Selected Desktop Background Won't Save

I generally use my photos from an external drive as my desktop background. This was all working great until Lion. Now, everytime I restart the computer one of the apple backgrounds appears (the space one). I have deleted the plists and restarted, etc and nothing seems to work. What's going on. I'm running a 27" imac with intel processor (new last June).

That is a corrupt preference file.
Download the free TinkerTool to tun on Invisible Items, now look in your Users/Library/Preferences folder for a
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
file and delete it, reboot the machine and reset your system preferences.
turn off invisible items in TinkerTool

10.4.8 pink background won't go away!

had to hold power btn to upgrade-now all pink background!!! restart did not help! this pink hard on the eyes!
