Background work process On-hold

Hello,
There is a background job running in Production system for more that 10000ms.
Background work processes is on-hold and the resaon is ARFC.

How to rectify this error ?

I have performed consistency check for temse objects and all the comments are displayed in red color.
Does it mean that objects are inconsistent. But, no comments states that object are inconsistent.
I have attached the comments displayed,

This comment occurs repeatedly, Unable to access the related file           Length = 0
Incorrect number of data lines in TST03
Object with part number 1 missing
Object reset                     Length = 0
The related file has an incorrect length

No object found in TST01
May i delete all objects, as all the comments are red in color.

How to find out number of background work processe available in the system?

Hi All,
I have a FM that triggers a background job using JOB_OPEN, ABAP_SUBMIT and JOB_CLOSE. But the problem is if there are no background work processes available at that moment, it does not return error. Not sure whether the job is even scheduled!
Is there a way to find out if there are any background work processes available in the system? I know a FM SPBT_INITIALIZE which gives info about dialog work processes. Is there any other FM similar to this which gives info about background wp??

your Job will remain in a queue by message handler. once workprocess is free, your job gets scheduled
by the way, you can use the functionality used in FM TH_DISPLAY_WORKPROCESS_LIST to read the workprocesses
the command which gets you the workprocess is:
CALL 'ThWpInfo' ID 'OPCODE' FIELD OPCODE_WP_LIST
ID 'TAB' FIELD LIST_STATE_WPLST-TABL
ID 'CPU' FIELD LIST_STATE_WPLST-CPU.
check how its written in include LSDEBF01, form SET_LIST_WPLST

Function module in background work process

Hi All,
i'm using trfc for processing FM only in background work process
CALL FUNCTION 'FUNCTION_MODULE' IN BACKGROUND TASK
but when i execute FM it's occupying two work process one is dialog (running current FM )and another one is background( running SAPLERFC) .
so pls suugest me how to avaiod FM to occupy dialog workprocess.

Hi Anuj,
It unfortunately means:
start FM in a particular time in Dialog work process
The BACKGROUND word in abap syntax is misleading.
For true background processing, i.e. background WORK PROCESS (of type BGD in SM50)
ONLY ABAP PROGRAMS or Commands or External Programs
can be run under background work process. (as per SM36)
Here we are trying a function module, which is not supported. This is as per my understanding.

Increase the number of background work processes for data load performance

Hi all,
There are 10 available background work processes in the BW system. We're doing some mass load to multiple ODS.But system uses only 3 background processes. How can i
increase the number of used background work processes for new data load.
I tried to change number of prosesses with RSODSO_SETTINGS. But no successes. Are there any other settings need to change?

I entered the max proc. number into ROIDOCPRMS. But it doesn't make difference. System still uses only 3 of background processes. RSCUSTA2 is replaced with
RSODSO_SETTINGS in BI 7.0 and this trans. can only change the processes for data activation, SID generation and rollback. I need to change the process numbers for data extraction.

RZ20 has a monitor for this under
RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates
               --> Background Processing
                    --> System Wide
                         --> Background
                             --> BackgroundService
                                  --> SystemWideFreeBPWP
If you need statistics for a longer time period you can activate collection of data for this MTE in CPH.

we can call the subroutine..whether it is foreground or background..if the perform statement is used the respective routine is called . Can you be specific on the requirement you are looking after..

I do not think background work processes would go into PRIV mode.

Hi Dimitry,
For windows boxes, I generally start with the base recommendation for the number of WP's (not just DIA's) and work backwards from there (balancing the number of DIA's with the number of Batch WP's).
Generally, DIA and BTC wp's consume the same base level of resources but can be set to different limits (as far as memory usage).

              Yesterday and today i check SAPMMC only one background work process still running (48 hours), How to analyse and why running for long time please explain for me. SM50 in transaction code also stilll one btc workprocess running.

Work Process stopped

Dear All ,
When I execute TC--> sm50 , I saw that some of dialog work process were showing stopped status and the reason column shows as CPIC . Can anyone suggest me as to what should be done ??
Some of the Work process under the time column also shows time values highlighted in red.

Thanks for your suggestion. I observed from Work process overview that one of the background work process is currently executing one SD report and when I just click on the CPU button to view the CPU time then CPU time is constant but the value under the time column is changing i.e it indicates that the work process got stuck . Can you suggest as to what should to be done in this case.

Background jobs run in a special type of work processthe background work processthat is different from dialog work processes in two ways:
       1.      A dialog work process has a run-time limit that prevents users from interactively running especially long reports. that limit is always in effect for dialog work processes. No such limit applies to background work processes.
       2.      Background work processes allocate memory differently than dialog work processes so that background work processes can become as large as they need to in allocated memory to allow for processing large volumes of data.
<b>Use</b>
Using background work processes also lets you optimize both background or dialog processing. In night mode, more servers can offer more work processes to accommodate background processing jobs that are scheduled to run when there are lower numbers of interactive users. In day mode, you could limit background processing to fewer servers and/or fewer background work processes.
When a time-driven scheduler is activated, it starts the jobs for which it has free work processes. If there is another background processing server, then the scheduler on that server starts the remaining jobs for which it has capacity, and so on.
