Backing Out Business Content

Hi,
Is there a way I can back out business content that has been installed. I have installed some but its has failed with an abap dump. In the meanwhile some info-objects have been set to 'revised' which has then meant proces chains etc have failed. I have created an OSS, but was wondering if anyone else knew of anything else I could try?

There isnt any way to backout your changes unless BASIS takes daily backups of the systems. You can ask them to restore your system back to a previous day ?
You can run some programs to activate the InfoObjects in SE38
RSDG_IOBJ_ACTIVATE. Please note that this will activate the infoobjects with the changes.
There are other programs available to activate objects like transfer rules etc. Try searching in SE38.
What phase of the project are you in ? still in development or production support.
Which system did you do the activation in ? Sandbox or development ?

How to find out the activation log for a info* from Business content

Hi,
I work in a BW 3.5 environment where a lot of projects are being done simultaneously and a lot of Business content are getting activated. BW often activates a lot of other objects when a certain section of seemingly unrelated Business contents are activated without much caution.
When I look into some of the objects related to my area of the Business content, I find them already activated.
How do I find the activation( who, what time etc ) log history of certain objects like info objects, cubes, ODS, Infosource etc..
This will help me immensely to communicate with various people( who inadvertently activeted them) and find issues quickly.

Within Tcode SLG1 you can query systemwide object activation on various selection criteria.
Ofcourse furthermore for objects already once transported to PRD you can search transport requests or object lists via Tcode SE01.

Unable to 'set the default source system' to Install Business Content

Hi,
Maars here. This is my first post hoping that in future ones I'll also be lending a helping hand.
I am trying to 'Install Business Content' under the BUSINESS CONTENT section in txn RSA1. I am doing this after 'Transfer Data Sources' in R/3 and I can now see all the data sources (under the application component hierarchy) for the source system. But I am not able to see the Info Objects in the Business Content.
When I try to set R/3 as the default source system (got this screen after clicking a icon in the standard tool bar), BW is not saving the settings ie., I set the R/3 as the default and then click on OK. If I go back to the same screen again, I find that my settings were NOT saved.
Could you please help me out?

It seems to be a bug in version 3.5.
Do like this:
After you open the screen to <i>choose the dafault source system</i>
Clcik on 3rd button(F6) available in the bottom of the scrreen.
And then select teh tick mark for required system.
And then click on Continue button
You have do this step before you drop the cube to right side of the cube.
Ok, even after all these steps , if you reopen the screen you would not see Tick mark u have done just before. DONOT WORRY ABT it.
Drag and drop required cube with dat flow before.
Now you can see the Transfer rules with selected Source system only in the collected Objects.

How to get the BW 7.0 Business content data sources

Hi,
We have got following sever components
SAP EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0
SAP_BW - 701 - SAPKW70106
BI_CONT 705
When we try to install the business content in T.Code: RSOR, we are getting 3.x data sources even though latest servers are in place.
Do we need to any settings in order to get 7.0 data sources and its flow(transformation and DTPs).
Please let me know.

SAP will not touch any of existing 3.x BW Content and change everything to 7.X content in the new BW Content version.
Most of the BW Content that was created earlier will still be in 3.x version only. You will see a small .(dot) before that object showing that it is in 3.x version.
SAP Provides only mechanism to migrate them into 7.X concepts as shown in below link

You can still use 3.x objects with out any problem.
In most implementations, the approach they use is, as long as you do not need to enhance or add any standard content, you can retain it the way it is. The enhancements include, adding a field, changing the structure of source or target, or you want to use better functionality in 7.x objects, then you can always migrate them as discussed in the above link
When you convert them, if you select "With exports" you can go back to older version later. If you select "Without exports" then the object is permanently transformed.
I you have to touch a standard object for any enhancement or reason, better convert it to 7.x version

Business Content not available

Hi Folks,
i have BI server which is not having business content.I hope during installation something was missed out.
How to get back as i require it because many of my requirements can be sorted out directly using that.

Business Content is an add-on. it is installed after BI server is installed.
Ask you basis team to download latest version of Business content from market place and install it in BI server.

Error while activating the business content object

Hi guru,
We have installed a new BI system, and hence we need to activate all the business content object as they are available in delivery version.
So as there was an requirement i tryed to activate the business content object ,that is 0mat (MATNR) material number,
but once done with the installation when i try to find the object and display it
that is i select the object 0mat , context menu and say display or change it does not show the complete screen as it appears for a characterstic and gives a error
"_settings for material number conversion not found"_*
so please help me out what is the problem

but let me inform you that i already did that as i need to install this object and now the object is showing with green instead of grey,
Now my problem is that after selecting grouping and collection when i go to infoobject menu under modelling and find out the object 0mat, it shows in green , but as i need to observe the properties of this object like data type , length etc , i select the object 0mat and right click and select display,
then instead of showing me the object properties screen it gives me the error as mentioned above,
so as you say it has to be in active versoin , but i can not view the normal screen which appears after creating any object ,
now i hope my problem is quiet explanatory so please help me.

Finding fields in R/3 for data extraction VS Business content

Hi all,
I am doing my first BW project after my training and I am finding it difficult to locate some fields that should be part of my report.
The Consultant says Sales Group, Inco terms, Open orders, Account assignment group, Sold to party, ship to party, Payment terms, Document currency and base currency, Complete deliver indicator, Order type and Count of Complete deliveries required should all be in the Order while transmission type and number of transmissions should be in NAST.
I have gone to R/3 - RSA6 to look at datasources and found 2LIS_01_S260 (Sales order) to have most of the fields but not payment terms, complete delivery indicator, open orders base currency and count of complete deliveries required. Also in Sales document header data, these fileds are not there.
Is it a case of not understanding the correct name of the fields if they are described in a different manner in R/3 or I have not done the proper thing? Can I just use an infocube in BW business content to get all the required objetcs -(infocube, infosource, datasource).

Hi,
Finding the correct Infoobject and it's mapped field is a job of BIW consultant. But the problem is how to find them and how to frind respective R/3 field and it's table. You will be familar with them as your experience increases.
So you need to list of fields you require and then find out the Datasource/s which can give these fields by going through the Business content help or using LBWE Tcode in R/3.
The datasource you mentioned is obsolate one. i.e 2LIS_01_S260 .
You better to go wtih new DSes like 2LIS_11_VAITM,2LIS_11_V_ITM.

If allmost all fields are avialable in a DS , then you can check the possibility of enhancing the DS for remaining Fields.

Business content installation failed

When i try to install the objects frok the business content, the job is getting cancelled and following msg is displayed in the SM37.

I know this error comes due to lack of resource in the system.
My question here is how do i know what are the resources tat system is using and in which transaction code can i check it.

Error while activating PM Business Content DSO 0PM_DS01

I am trying to activate the Business Content for PM (Plant Maintenance). I wasable to activate the cubes without any problem.
But when I tried activating the DSO 0PM_DS01, the installation is failing while activating the DSO with the message. "You are not authorised for Infosource 80PM_DS01"
Has anybody else also faced a similar error?

Error while activating the Business Content

Hi BI gurus,
I am installing the business content for the sales overview infocube with the grouping option data flow before and install in back ground option. The back ground job is cancelled with the error msg"STDO: Log could not be written on output device T" and at the end it shows ABAP/4 processor: LOAD_PROGRAM_LOST error.
Can any one give solution for this. This is very urgent,

I am getting this error while activating the Cube ,I'm not able to see update rules after activated in the Modelling.. My using 7.o but working on 3.x version, with support package 15.
When i stimuldate following are the errors:
80BP_ID not maintained
Data source 0DBDUNS_IMPORT_ATTR not maintained
Error while reading InfoProvider 0SD_O01 etc...
Please help me out from this error since two days i'm tryhing to resolve but i'm not able to activate...

Hello,
Go to business content, select the Infoprovider which you intend to install, select the before after option. Then say install & ignore the warnings & say yes. If still you are not able to view the update & transfer rules there might be some issues in the source system.
1] Check in rsa 6 that the datasources feeding to your cube are avialable or not.
2] Check the same is been replicated in BW or not.
3] The time stamp from both source system & BW system should match, otherwise replicate it again.

10.5.2 kicks me back out when I log in

I've updated my MacBook from 10.5.2 to 10.5.2, and now when I log in as my usual user, I don't get as far as the desktop before I get kicked back out again. It's hard to tell what's going on, too, as I'm getting vast amounts of segmentation faults for "mdworker" thrown into my system log all the time. That being said, I've attached a log of me logging in below. Anyone got any ideas? I can log in as a different user with admin privilege, so I may be able to start getting rid of things from my usual user account if I know what to get rid of...
The update worked fine on my iMac, with a very similar user account (thank goodness!)

Thanks; I did try most of that last night, though it didn't work, unfortunately. I eventually tracked the problem down to some bizarre corruption in the Launch Services database, as discussed here (where you've also replied, thanks!):

...so even moving all the user's stuff to one side and deleting and recreating the account didn't work. The only thing I can guess is that the LaunchServices database/cache must have something in it tied to the user's uid, which doesn't get cleared out when that user is deleted. LaunchServices was fine for everyone else, but broke even for a completely new user with a new name that got created with the problem uid. Nasty.
It was pretty lucky I had a safe Admin account hanging around for just such moments as these (and also pretty lucky that I'm a hardcore geek, really )

How does Business content work with BI 7 and R/3 4.6 as backend?

Dear Bwers,
We have BI 7.0 with source system as R/3 4.6. I have the following questions:
1. I want to know how to install new BI 7.0 datastructures from business content when the datasources from R/3 are in the old version?
2. Is Business Content upto speed with the new structures like transformations and DTPs?
Any ideas?

i don't think BI 7.0 and r/3 4.6 has good integration between them.
may be it's possible with after 4.7 versions. check it out
