Backing up a system that is on two different volumes

Here's what I did... I've got an ssd as my startup volume in a mac mini. Through system preferences:Accounts, I right clicked on my user (admin) account, whereby I clicked on the advanced button. Through this, I set up my user folder to be on another drive, connected via Firewire 800.
Here's my question: How do I back up everything? Usually, I use carbon copy cloner to just back up my main drive. My system is now on two drives and I have to backup my system on the ssd and my user folder on the external. What would you recommend... getting two drives for back up, one for each drive (system and data) or is there something else I'm not thinking of? Would Time Machine address this situation?
Thanks!

Time machine can certainly do it. it can back up all directly attached drives provided they are formatted mac os extended. but CCCloner can do it too. you'll need too different destination drives for this though with CCCloner. back up the internal to one drive and the external to another. they can be two partitions on the same drive, not necesarily two different physical drives.
Thanks!

I guess time will come...but I don't see the main point of having two sim cards on a phone at the same time?
Knowing the phone won't let this go on, Can you take up two calls at the same time? Probably not.

As long as you log into the App Store with the same Mac id that was used to purchase FCP X, you are entitled to upgrade to both Macs (we have a Mac Pro and an iMac and FCP 10.01 is on both).
What happens when you try to upgrade on the second Mac?

  • Can I use one TimeCapsule to backup two Macs that are in two different locations.

Hello, I have one mac on a recording studio and one macBook pro. Is it possible to use the sametime capsule to backup the Mac in the studio, by bringing the time capsule in the studio, for let say, one week. Then the next week take the time capsule at home to backup my own MacBookPro, and so on... ?
    I know it's a basic question, but I can't find a clear answer...
    Thanks.

It's possible, but the fact that it is possible does not imply that it would be practical.
You will have to completely re-configure the Time Capsule each time that you change locations, because you are changing networks.
It would be much, much easier to simply add a hard drive at home and backup the Mac to that drive.

  • Formula that looks at two different fields

    Hi,
I posted this request for help not too long ago but didn't clearly explain what is needed.
When text is entered into a field (currentgoal1, currentgoal2 - each equaling 1), the formula needs to look at a different field (point1, point 2 - each holds a list box of with points 1, 3, 5, or NA) to see if "NA" was chosen.  If NA was chosen (rather than a point, 1, 3, 5) then the goalcount (total number of populated currentgoal fields) needs to subtract 1 from goalcount.
    currentgoal 1 = 1 point
    currentgoal 2 = 1 point
    currentgoal 3 = NA
3 goals, 2 points, 1 point field with NA
Since one of the current goals is has a point of NA, the overall count of currentgoals in the goalcount field (total number of populated currentgoal fields) should state 2 with the totalpoints field (all points fields added together) stating 2.
How can the formula be adjusted to subtract a currentgoal with a chosen point of NA?
Formula used now for counting current goals:
    goalcount = 0
    != null){
    = goalcount + 1;
    != null){

  •  Ps installation on two different boot volumes of same machine?   Ps 11.0.2 Mac PPC  and then...

Hello, I'm new to this forum.
My goal here is to have two different Photoshop 11.0.2 installations on two different boot volumes of one and the same Power Mac (PPC) G5 Quad, one being a Tiger 10.4.11 system and the other one a Leopard 10.5.8 system, for the purpose of installing two different modalities of the same Epson Photo Stylus 2200 printer, one with the printer set to use the photo black ink cartridge for luster and glossy papers, and the other one using the matte blank ink.
This is because I prefer to simply change the startup disk when switching inks rather than having to delete and re-add the necessary printers.  (This particular printer does not support ink cartridge switching under any version of Mac OS X.)
Photoshop is currently only used on this one machine.  Obviously this intended scheme fits well within the EULA conditions.
    My three questions are:
    (a) whether there is any technical issue I have failed to consider,
    (b) whether each copy of Photoshop on the same machine will have to be activated separately (in other words, is the activation tied to the CPU or to the boot volume drive?), and
    (c) if the answer to the latter question is yes, whether this will count as one or two activations for purposes of later installing a single instance of the Photoshop 13.x ("CS6") upgrade on an Intel- MacBook, since obviously C6 will not run on my PPC Mac.  Again in sum, will I be able to continue to run Photoshop 11.0.2 on two different volumes of the same PPC machine and the Photoshop 13.x upgrade on the laptop?
As further explanation, I would use Photoshop 13.x on the Mac-Intel laptop only in order to run ACR 7.x, but would keep my PPC G5 Quad as my photo editing and printing machine running Photoshop 11.0.2, since an upgrade of my desktop machine to a comparably powerful Mac Pro is simply not an option for both financial and technical reasons (the Classic environment is essential).
Any and all input and guidance will be appreciated.

  • Consolidation of data in two different instances

    Hi,
I am having a scenario that ABCD is a subsidiary of holding company PQRS. Both the systems are running on two different instances of SAP. Now the ABCD is going for SAP implementation. PQRS is interested to consolidate the data of PQRS as well as ABCD. In ABCD, let me presume that the group chart of account has been used and each GL account of operating chart of account has been mapped to group chart of account GL account. Now, the question is how the data of ABCD can be transferred / moved to PQRS. The presumptions are: 1. There is RFC connections between ABCD and PQRS 2. PQRS is consolidating using EC-CS
Please throw some light on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. If your source system is sending all the entries in a single message you can easily do this via the mapping in XI
    2. Suppose your source system is sending these 4 message separately and then you want to consolidate, then you will have to involve BPM.
You will need to collect these messages and then have a N:1 mapping that does the consolidation

  • Call two smartforms from two different print programs

    Hi Sapiens,
I have a requirement that there are two different smartforms and they have there independent print programs.
Just wanted to know weather is it possible in SAP to merge those to smartforms and there print programs so that first smartform is displayed first and second smartform is printed at its back(duplex printing).
    Regards
    Milind

    Hi,
You can use submit program in the first program to call the second program and
fetch the required interface data related to the second smartform and once u have the interface data
for both the programs then u can merge the both smartforms data and display them as one layout instead of displaying the two layouts in different formats.
For merging of data of both the smartforms u can do :Convert the output of first smartform into OTF format data then convert the data of second smartform into OTF table and append it to the first table .
Now u have the data of both the smartforms in one table then convert this OTF data into PDF format and create a spool request with the combined forms data.

1)The shipping conditions from the customer master record (Shipping screen)
    2) The loading group from the material master record (Sales/Plant Data screen)
    3)The delivering plant

  • JDBC connection to two different machines from the same program

I want to use JDBC to connect to two different databases that are on two different MySQL installations on two different machines.
One of the installations is MySQL 4.1.12 and the other is 4.1.14-nt
For some reason, all my statements seem to be going only to one machine, even though I am very clearly set it up to go to two different machines.
Does anyone know whether connecting to two different installations from one program presents any unusual problems?
    Thanks.

Unless there is some horrible defect in the MySQL JDBC driver (which I doubt!), there should be no problem and like the other poster says, please post snippits of your code so we can see what your doing...

  • Spanned AVCHD Clips on two different cards

Is there any way to get Premiere Pro CS5.5 to recgonize spanned AVCHD clips that are on two different SD Cards?  I shoot with a Panasonic AG-AC160 that has dual SD cards slots.  It can span record from one slot to the next.  I was just wondering if anyone has figured out any way to get Premiere to recgonize that the clips from the end of card one and start of card two are actually spanned and join them together like it does with spanned clips that are on One card?
    Thanks
    Phil

The problem is that I can only open one "PRIVATE" folder at a time in the Media Browser (As far as I know) so then I import all the clips from the first PRIVATE folder and then I have to open the second PRIVATE folder and import all of those clips.

  • Two different profit center generated after material movement 201

    Hi there:
    Here is my issue:
After I did movement 201,then I went to mb03 to look at material document, then I click accounting document found that there are two different profit center appeared in two items, first line item is that credit inventory account 20208100, I don't know where does profit center come from in first item? Second item is that debit material consumption 60100000, cost center shows correct which is the one when I populated while doing movement 201, and profit center shows correct, since cost center belongs to it.

Hi Please see my reply as below:
This behaviour seems correct... I think your Profit center in Mat master is different than the Profit center of the cost center to which material was issued
Yes,because profit center in material master is blank in which plant to issue
Inventory account will always be credited with the PC assigned in Mat master
Considering the profit center of mat master is blank, so what default value does it be reflected to inventory account?
Consumption account (If it is created as Cost element) will always be debited with PC of the Cost Center to which material is issued
It was not created as cost element, based on your theory, it will be debited with PC of the material master, but PC of material master of specify plant is blank, so what default value does it be reflected to inventory consumption account?
Consumption account (If it is not created as Cost element) will always be debited with PC of the Material master
    Thanks

Q-2: What does 'BUFFER SORT' (Operation id 13) indicate ? Some time i got this operation and sometime i am not. For some other queries, i have observing around 10GB TEMP space and high cost against this operation. So just curious about whether it is really helpful ? if no, how to avoid that ?
Q-3: Under PREDICATE Section, what does step 18 suggest ? I am not using any filter like this ? access(:Z>=:Z AND :Z<=:Z)

    Hi,
About BUFFER SORT, first of all it is not specific for Parallel Executions. This step in the plan indicates that internal sorting have a place. It doesn't mean that rows will be returned sorted, in other words it doesn't guaranty that rows will be sorted in resulting row set, because it is not the main purpose of this operation. I've previously suggested that the "buffer sort" should really simply say "buffering", but that it hijacks the buffering mechanism of sorting and therefore gets reported completely spuriously as a sort. (see http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2006/12/17/buffer-sorts/ ).
In this case, I think the buffer sort may be a consequence of the broadcast distribution - and tells us that the entire broadcast is being buffered before the hash join starts. It's interesting to note that in the recent of the two plans with a buffer sort the second (probe) table in the hash join seems to be accessed first and broadcast before the first table is scanned to allow the join to occur.

  • Can two different SRM clients systems connect to one R/3 Back-end system?

    Hello,
Trying to developing SRM Co-Exist/Global strategy, based on the following scenario:
    1.  Two different SRM client systems, each at DIFFERENT SRM Version/Release Level.  SRM system "A" runs in Stand-Alone and Extend Classic Scenario mode.  SRM system "B" runs in Classic Scenario mode
    2.  Two different R/3 back-end systems, each with SAME R/3 4.7 Version/Release Level.
Question 1:  Can the two (2) different SRM client systems be connected to one (1) of the R/3 back-end systems?
Question 2:  Are there any Basis Plug-In (PI_BASIS) issues/difficulties to consider from either the SRM client or R/3 back-end side?
Question 3:  Does each SRM client need it own unique transaction document type(s) and number range(s) definitions?
Question 4:  Are there any other difficulties, for example, with RFC and Partner Profile related definitions and what are the steps to address/resolve difficulties?
Please advise and thanks in advance for your feedback!
    Regards,

    They can be connected

Make sure that you have unique consumer entries for Middleware for Material replication, RFCs etc
Question 3: Does each SRM client need it own unique transaction document type(s) and number range(s) definitions?
Yes you need to have them.
Question 4: Are there any other difficulties, for example, with RFC and Partner Profile related definitions and what are the steps to address/resolve difficulties?
Don't see any difficulties as long as the a structured approach is followed.
