Backing Up Acrobat

I need to wipe my hard drive to clean up some problems and do not have a back-up CD of Acrobat as I installed a copy from the multi-seat license from my past employer (I was able to leave the job with my laptop). How can I save Acrobat to reinstall once I clean my hard drive? Is it as simple as saving the entire Acrobat folder from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0?
Thanks.

Back in DOS days you could simply copy a program directory
Windows programs do not work without information in the registry, and that information is put there by the program installer... so copying the directory and putting on the fresh hard drive will not work

  • DE -saster.  How can I reverse and go back to acrobat on a mac?

I have no time for this nonsense. $100 book that I could read passibly on acrobat, and I foolishly clic on the download the new edition "yes" teaser. Now I'm stuck in this Digital Edition and can't get back. No thumbnails where there used to be, and slow page changes. Page numbers no longer correlate to the page numbers in teh book, so searching for things is painfully difficult. Text is blurry.
There should have been a warning... i only intended to upgrade to reader 8.1, not get imprisoned in this not ready for prime time thing. I've got to get this book back NOW.
I'm using a mac with 10.4.10. Please advise how to de install DE and get back to acrobat with my expensive (and hopeless) e book. I'll never do this again. Strictly paper and ink from now on.

i'm on windows and had the same really bad experience as you.
i simply deinstalled DE and reader 8, then reinstalled reader 8 again and seemed to be fine.
you should try that also, hopefully it works and things get back to normal.i don't think something happened to your ebook file, just that DE seems to be a very down graded version of adobe reader.
i was also unsatisfied with the poor quality of the text, images plus not to mention i also finished writing and producing an ebook myself and all my interactive buttons and links stopped working in DE.

  • Can i roll back to Acrobat 9 Standard from Acrobat X Standard?

Can i roll back to Acrobat 9 Standard from Acrobat X Standard?  I bought Acrobat X license and want to roll back to 9.
    Thanks in advance.

Do you have the Acrobat 9 Standard media?
Do you have an Acrobat 9 Standard serial number?
    If not, then that's a non-starter.
You'll need to talk to Adobe provided that is who you actually purchased the software and not a reseller.
If yes, then it is a matter of removing Acrobat X first
    Rebooting the machines
    Then reinstalling Acrobat 9 Standard.

  • Had acrobat 8 instaled today i downloade a U torrent and suddenly acrobat turned into u torrent on all my adobe files .. went to open with clicked on acrobat and then it changed to Filemaker which ihave installed.. how can i get back to acrobat???? help

I originally had acrobat 7 in my machine when Adobe told me that they won't support it and gave me 8 by a direct download to my pc about 4 months ago.  Great worked fin today i uploaded U Torrent and suddenly all my acrobat files turned into U torrents so i clicked on open with and clicked on acrobat and now the files show filemaker Pro which i do have installed..  I need to get back to acrobat for my bills that i send out .. i am disabled and run a small business from home.. all my invoices are now corrupt can you help  please..

It sounds like you do not have a backup. You might consider a restore to before you installed the problem program. Can you open Acrobat by going to the Acrobat folder and clicking on Acrobat? If so, go to Help>Repair. After that, try the updates if you are not current. Hopefully that will resolve the problem. There is a chance that the program you downloaded as not a proper version and had a virus.

  • Streaming XDP back to Acrobat/Reader/Designer

I've recently been toying with binary writing an XDP back after PDF submission. When I do this in Designer, I get the following error message:
Unable to location the form, because the XFA data lacks a reference to the PDF document. If the data came back as a result of a submit from a PDF, then the URL is probably missing "#FDF" at the end.
First, I notice the error references FDF rather than XDP. For note, I'm just steaming back a random XDP file I had laying around. If it needs to reference the submitting PDF, what needs to be referenced? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am doing a similar thing
I had a dynamic PDF form. User fills in all the data and when the click submit, the PDF form is submitted to the webserver in XDP+PDF format.
If the upload of the form is successful, I am sending back the HTML output back and Acrobat display in a new page
New Page - I mean it is not a PDF page, but a status page

  • Can't change filetype association back to Acrobat 9

We installed the CS5.5 upgrade today, and right off the bat I don't really care for Acrobat X. This is not the time or place to go into it all, so please don't respond only to ask me why I feel this way... for the time being I'd like to set my PDFs to default to Acrobat 9, only using 10 when I have to.
I highlight a PDF, Get Info, change Open With to Acrobat 9.4.4 and click Change All. However, that doesn't actually change anything, all my PDFs continue to open in Acrobat X.
Am I missing something? Is Acrobat X overriding the system perhaps? (An older version of Freehand used to do this, which was super-annoying until they came out with a patch to fix that and about seven hundred other things.) I see that InDesign CS5.5 is doing the same thing, I'm really not sure if this is an Adobe issue or an OS X issue, but I've never had trouble changing filetype associations in the past.
    TIA for any tips!

Not neccesarily true. It WILL however only set the association for that particular type of PDF (say one's that were created by a certain application).
    PjonesCET wrote:
To properly set  for all files you select 5 or more PDF's  make suere some of them are PDF created by Preview
And if they were all created by the same application (say Apple Quartz for instance) you're back in the same boat.
The trick is to select a few PDF's (Absolutely no reason that it has to be 5, that's Phillips thing) created by different applications or at least be sure it's one from the application you use.
I've found less than five don't give an accurate sampling. That's the reason for 5 or more created by different  Applications.

  • How can I save an Acrobat X file back to Acrobat 8

    Hello,
What is the best way to save back a version or two, when you are creating Acrobat X files.
I need to get a few back to 8.0 and 9.0.
Is there any way to do this from within Acroabt X?
    Thanks
    Babs

ACTUALLY!!! You got me on the right track, with one minor adjustment.
I was already using the Save As, Optimize PDF for something and didn't see the compatibility option right there on the top!
This way I do not have to worry about the quality.
    This will do it!!
Thanks so much to both of you!

  • What is the best way to back up Acrobat?

I was told by a computere specialist that the pieces of Adobe programs are scattered all over the place. I need to learn the best way to backup all of my Adobe applications.  I have an un-numbered version of Acrobat from early 2004 and don't want to buy a new version.

It's essentially impossible to back up a single installed program by itself. They don't just have files, they have registry entries, device drivers, licensing and who knows what. There are only two things you can do and I strongly recommend you do both
    1. Back up the install media. That is, make a safety copy of the CDROM or DVD and put it somewhere different. If you buy a download, make two copies or you might as well have thrown your money in the bin if the computer fails. Backups of the install media are the only possible way to get Acrobat to a new different computer. Make sure to keep the serial numbers, and qualifying numbers of older software. I write them on the disks.
    2. Back up the entire computer with software that can backup whole disks and systems, and restore entire systems. COPYING FILES WON'T DO THIS. This will help if your hard drive fails but it will be useless if you buy a new computer.

  • How do I get back my Acrobat X that came with CS6?

Hello, I own the Creative Suite CS6, which comes with Acrobat X.
I must have hit an update button, because now I have Acrobat XI installed on my computer, and every time I want to use Acrobat, it keeps telling me I have to buy it!
After spending thousands of dollars on CS6 already, I just want to get back my copy of Acrobat X and not have to spend any more money.
Has anyone experienced this issue and any solutions?

    Hi Diane,
So, was the issue resolved? Did the installation completed successfully and are you able to use the product?

  • Is it possible to downgrade back to Acrobat X with Creative Cloud?

Acrobat XI seems to be extremely unstable. The data entry form I have been working on has crashed at least 5 times within the last hour. I never had this problem with Acrobat X using the same file so I would like to roll back to X until XI becomes more stable.

    Downgrading is not possible.
Please reply with your operating system version. We will get the issue resolved.

  • HELP PLEASE!!! - Bring To Front or Send Back in Acrobat X

    Hi all,
is it possible to bring object to front/back? By mistake I've deleted an image laying under some text and other images from document and now I'm not able to place it back without covering every other objects :-(
Is there any solution for this? Undo also doesn't work...
    Thank you for any help,
    Jirka

Thank you all for your answers. Finally, because I needed this document to be ready on Monday morning and it was not sure that someone will answer to my question, I've remade whole document. By this I've lost about 5 hours of work - but I've survived it and I can write :-) again...
However, I've tried both of the proposed solutions - both of them are working well, even if it is true that for complex pages with hundreds items in the content pane it is little bit difficult to find the exact place where to move the covering item. When I've tried it on my damaged document, in 10 minutes I've succeed to have everything on the correct "depth".
So, next time I'll know how to do it.
    Thank you all once again...
    Jirka

We cannot know. You are not providing any relevant details. Just saying that something doesn't work is not useful in any way. Downloads can be found this way:
