Backing up apps that arent in my itunes library?
Hello. This has been happening for quite some time and im curious why. When i back up my phone, a window pops up that says something like "There are apps on your phone that have not been backed up yet, would you like to back them up" and in small print it says something like "These apps will not restore to your phone unless they are in your itunes library" Now, this happens every time i back up and i havent added any new apps in forever, so that always caught my attention. Also, how would i know what apps they are referring too and why would they have to be in my itunes library? Thanks.
One more thing, if im going to get a new phone, do i just "Backup" my phone? Do i need to sync before i get a new phone? The syncing thing always kind of confused me since it seems like backing up covers everything. As a matter of fact, the last time i backed up my phone, i synced and i lost all of my notes and im not sure why.
Thanks.

It’s kinda bogus when it tells you this as Apps are not included in a backup.
They are transferred to iTunes library on you computer. (which you them make regular backups of correct?)

How do you remove an app from your iPad? I have synced the iPad and attempted to remove and this is the messgae I receive:
This app will not be deleted from any iOS device that synchronizes with your iTunes library.
HELP! Get rid of these Doodle Gods, Kick the Buddy, etc....As Jim states, that procedure deletes the app and its associated documents from the device itself. At next sync, the deletion should propagate and get rid of the backup on iTunes as well.
If not, you can also manually delete that backup. Go into iTunes on the computer you sync the iPad with. If needed, select Show Sidebar in the View menu. Choose Apps under Library in the sidebar. Click on the All tab in the middle of the window. Scroll about till you locate the offending app amongst the bunch of icons. Right-click or Control-click on it and choose Delete from the popup menu. If the app is gone already on the device, there should be no warnings. You should delete from the device first and sync, so this manual step becomes unnecessary. -
I'm running iTunes Remote App from a couple of iPhone 5's and a first generation iPod Touch. iTunes is running on a PC - Windows 7. My home network runs two Wifi Routers, each with a different SSID. I've had no problems with the Remote app running this set up for the last 8 months but recently the App can only find my iTunes library when the iPhone/iPod is connected via one specific router, when connected to the network via the other router, no iTunes library is found. I'm also running an Apple TV and it's the same as the iTunes Library, only visible via the one SSID.
Everything else seems to work fine when connected via either router, eg Internet on the iPhones (definitely via wifi)
I've tried renewing the lease on the iPhone wifi connection, restarting everything.....several times.....
It used to work fine, this only seems to have been a problem in recent weeks
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
IanIt turned out to be the firewall settings on our router. Her machine was sending traffic that our router interpreted as a DoS attack and blacklisted her Airport's MAC address. That's why it would work fine if she switched to Ethernet.

I downloaded some apps for my ipho in the apptrackr site, the apps are shown in my itunes library but when i try to sync those apps at first it works and then it says an error occured (0xE8008001). How can I sync them without the error?
If your phone is jailbroken, we can't help you, as already stated.
If you're new to this and you're trying to download apps to put on your phone and it is NOT jailbroken, you can't do that.
You must go through the iTunes app store. -
I just installed iTunes on my new laptop. When I click on the desktop icon I receive a pop up that says "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes". I have no idea what this means or what to do about it. I can't even find a file on my computer like the one referred to in the pop up. I am currently considering keeping my old laptop if it is the only way for me to continue to access iTunes. What should I do to fix this?
What version of iTunes are you using? An .itl file is something that Windows uses, or very old versions of iTunes on Mac. The library file on Macs is now .xml and has been since late iTunes 4.
Is iTunes running ok without any problems after you OK that message? If it is, then you may be able to ignore it if you can't account for why you're getting it. But make sure you take backups in case something happens in the future. -
My laptop that currently has my itunes library on it is broken and so I can not access it. Is there a way of getting my whole music library put onto a different laptop?
You can have two separate libraries, just do not put them into the same location on the computer. You could also create a new user on the laptop, you, and then you would start out with a blank iTunes library, then just add yours to that. It would also prevent you and your girlfriend from mixing content up unless you share an Apple ID.

I recently transfered everything from my emac to another one but now when I try to open iTunes I get the window that states: The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. The computer I transfered to had a bunch of files on it and I got full ownership of what was already there, so, how do I get to my iTunes library, I do have access as an administrator to the iTunes library (that works just fine) already there and I guess I must have had a newer version ofiTunes on my defunt eMac....
Tell us some version numbers please, of your Mac OS versions and iTunes versions on both computers (two eMacs yes?).

That is a pretty good guess.Try updating the second eMac's iTunes to at least the version that was on the first. -

In the itunes store where I have my apps and contacts "stored", how can I delete the ones I do not want anymore. I just restored my phone and it had items on it that I do not need or use anymore
The restore should only have restored onto your phone what you had on it when you last backed up. You can delete apps from your phone by pressing and holding them for a couple of seconds until they shake, and they should then get an 'x' on their top corner - then back up again. You can also delete them from the Apps part of your computer's iTunes library by selecting them and pressing the delete key on your keyboard.
You can't permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them via your computer's iTunes so they don't show in the Purchased links for redownloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If your phone is on iOS 7 then after hiding them on your computer's iTunes you might need to log out and back into your iTunes account on your phone for them to be hidden from the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it

Will iTunes Match back up music that's not in iTunes but on my iPhone 5?
My music (that was not purchased in iTunes) was deleted from my iTunes account but it's still on my iPhone 5? Will iTunes Match back this content up?

See these user tips for getting your music from your iOS device to your iTunes library:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
For backing up your personal data, if you are using OS X Time Machine is built right into the OS. All you have to do is plug in an external USB HDD, enable it and forget it (not literally forget it, but it works automatically in the background). If you're using Windows you'll need to do some research to find backup software.
