Backing up iPad issue during iOS5 install

I am unable to back up the iPad during the iOS5 installation... takes forever, then never completes.
Can I install iOS5 with out performing the backup?  I have backed up the iPad during regular syncs (where would I find that backup if I had to do a restore?)

Same problem. At second attempt got a message that ipad memory was over capacity.  I had 6GB free on the ipad2 when I started to upgrade and it was now telling me i needed more!  After deleting all my photos (4GB which had been loaded from camera and the only way I could find to do this was one at a time!) the upgrade apparently succeeded but in itunes it said I now had 8GB of "Others" in the memory and only 1 GB free.
Lookign in "Diagnostics & Usage data" I can see 3 scripts coinciding with the upgrade attempts all of which start with "Sysinfocrashreporterkey" 2 with "bug-type 193" a couple of lines down, and one with "bug-type 109"
Questions:
What are the 8GB of "Others" and how do i get rid of it?
How can I bulk-delete photos transferred from camera?
What do the bug-types refer to and do they indicate a solution?

  • HT4623 Why won't my iPad respond to iOS5 install?

    My son is attempting to run prezi.com which requires iOS5, but I am having trouble installing on my iPad.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Because its hardware is incapable of running iOS 6. It isn't possible to update the GoPro app on it, and you need to back up the older version; if it gets erased, you won't be able to redownload it from the iTunes Store.

  • [XI 3.1] Issues during "Clean" install on Windows Server (64-bit) OS

    Started setting-up a SANDBOX yesterday of BOE-XI (Release 3.1) on a "Clean" Windows Server (64-bit) OS.
    I hit a couple of issues that I think may be related to the DEFAULT "Program Files" location on the OS being...
    C:\Program Files (x86)\
    ...rather than...
    C:\Program Files\
    I chose to install the MySQL database and the IIS and Tomcat DEFAULTs for the CMC and InfoView.
    BOE-XI (Release 3.1) said that it ran OK, but we had two issues that we are now cleaning-up...
    1.) SIA did not install / appear in CCM. Had to manually create a new one.
    2.) Tomcat InfoView and CMC were OK, but the .NET (IIS) InfoView throws a "The page cannot be found" error when trying to connect to...
    http://<servername>/InfoViewApp/logon.aspx
    Anyone seen this issue before - or have a link to a "Best Practices" document for installing on BOE-XI (Release 3.1) on the Windows Server (64-bit) OS...?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
    I am also experiencing this issue with Crystal Reports Server XI installed on 64-Bit Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
    I am also getting the following error when trying to view reports
    The Page Server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator.
    Unable to retrieve Object.
    The Page Server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator.
    Does anyone know how to resolve this?

  • S.M.A.R.T issues during Lion install

    I've received the iMac error while loading OS X 10.7 (Lion).  It reads as follows:
    "This disk has S.M.A.R.T. errors.  This disk has a hardware problem that can't be repaired.  Back up as much data as possible and replace this disk."
    This appears to be a common problem for many iMacs purchased 1.5 to 2 years ago with the 1TB drive.  I've backed up my data and have contacted Apple to have the hard drive replaced.  Apple needs to be more proactive in identifying this group of users, as they have with the 1TB drives having issues from this past summer.
    If there are any other suggestions regarding what to do, then please speak up.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    You've done what there is to do. BTW, if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • Connection Issues during initial install period

    Hello! Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
    I recently switched to BT Broadband from another provider, however during the initial 14 days when you are meant to leave your router on I ended up having to switch it off quite a bit as my gas mains were being replaced (the gas mains are right next to my BT master socket) which meant a equiptment had to be turned off, moved, etc. Consequently my line has not adjusted correctly which is something I would like to resolve.
    Initially my line was connecting using fastpath, but now appears to just stay interleaved and ideally I would like to stay on fastpath as it greatly improves connecting to my office's internet conferencing facilities which I use a lot. Any ideas on how I can get BT to re-stablise my line?

    Hi Travelstar,
    If you have finished the training period, then to get you're Latency setting changed you will have to contact the mods, you can do that by following this link: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951

  • Error -5000 occurs everytime itunes trys to back up my iphone during ios5 instilation

    what should i do abouth this?

    Ok. I literally went through all of those steps, and then nothing on there worked.
    But.
    I just fixed it.
    Here's how I did it.
    I went into the settings of the phone, erased EVERYTHING.
    Plugged the phone back in, synced with nothing on it. Backed up, Worked.
    Went to my old but latest backup from my iPhone4 before I bumped up to the 5.
    I then restored from that backup, BUT. Didn't sync any of the apps, podcasts, or music.
    Then by a process of elimination, I went one group at a time.
    First I synced all my apps. Once all of them loaded, I hit the backup button. Worked fine.
    Second, I synced all my podcasts. After, hit backup. Worked fine.
    And last. My music. Synced all of it. Backup could not finish!
    So I went through and tried to remember what was the last thing I added on there that could have added on there that could prevent it from working.
    Oh. The first 3 Games of Thrones books you ripped from the library?
    Once I deleted those. Synced fine.
    I don't know exactly how the **** that was the thing that fixed it, but it did. I have the 32g model, and had around 12g of space free.
    But it's fixed. So maybe a heads up to the people who might be experiencing the same problem. Try that out. Sync your categories one at a time, backup, and eliminate each one at a time.
    I'd love to know if this helped anyone else.

  • IPad frozen during iOS5 update

    Hi, I've been trying all day to update my iPad to ios 5. It seems to be stuck because its stuck at the black screen with the apple logo and a full progress bar. My itunes's progress bar is almost full. I've left it for several hours and reset, then tried again and still nothing. How long should it take to update? My ipad seems stuck so what do i do?

    Same in here, i tried 2 days, then gave up and gave it to the offical technical support in Turkey. They also tried for 2 days, still no result. Then they called me and said " it might be something in hardware, we are going to check it". tommorow will be the 6th day in service. If i find out anything i will write you.

  • Disconnected ipad during ios7 install

    I disconnected my ipad 3 during ios7 install - I know we're not supposed to do that but I did!
    Now, the battery power drained before I could hook it back up to my desktop/Itunes and I can't get it to restart
    My ipad won't reboot and when it's plugged in it will only show the battery icon with a little bit of red - and it won't charge beyond that point
    Any tips on how to get it going again? I have a back up of my old set-up so am ok if I have to erase everything/reset to factory settings etc
    Thanks!
    Lisa

    This has sorted itself out! Phew

  • Get error when trying to upgrade to IOS5 - An error occured while trying to Back up ipad  -402653138

    Help
    I am trying to upgrade to IOS5 and i cant get past the backup step of the upgrade - I keep getting An error occured while trying to Back up ipad  (-402653138).  I have tried removing my current backup and letting the update do the backup but still get same message.
    I also get a warning right when I start the upgrade process that says I have purchased apps that have not been transfered and wants to know if I want to continue???  Not sure why I get this warning - I have ran the transfer purchases option several times and it seems to work.  However, if I go under store and look at the purchases for my ipad it dosnt show any???  I would assume it should?
    I have tried syncing and backing up, rebooting, all latest versions of itunes, etc.
    Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Erik

    I took a leap of faith and finally got the update with no issues.  Here's what I did:
    First did yet another backup.  Next, disabled all anti-virus and anything related (running Norton 360).  Next, turned off Home Sharing.
    Instead of "Update" I selected "Restore".  Followed prompts as though I wanted to restore and update. Selected my latest backup and off it went.  First did the wipe, then ios5 update, then restarted and began to sync.  Sync took about 2 hours as I have lots of apps, photos and some TV shows I forgot were on there.
    In the end, I had the exact same configuration.  All apps on their pages as before the update, all folders intact and even all game scores and data from apps.  Hurray!
    Now just going through the App update process of the many (85) that showed up in App Store icon.
    Hope this helps!

  • I am using an iPad with Apple TV and airplay with a projector in my classroom.  The mirroring cuts out and back on several times during use. Any suggestions on what's causing it and how to fix it?

    I am using My iPad with Apple TV, Airplay and projector in my classroom.  The projector screens blanks out and back on several times during a presentation. It seems like a problem with connection but I'm not sure as it comes back on after a few seconds. Any idea of what is causing this and how it can fixed?

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Downloaded new itunes version, backed up my ipad onto it.  installed new 5.0 ios and my music on itunes seems to be overriden with my burnt music on my pc. i cannot find my music purchased on ipad in itunes now

    I downloaded the new itunes version on my pc, backed up my ipad to itunes, then installed ios 5.0.   Everything went well except my music i purchased on my ipad is no longer showing in itunes, the music that was on my pc was transferred to it (which i do not want on my ipad).  Any suggestions on what happened to my music purchased on my ipad?  I am sure I backed up up prior to install.  Thanks for any help.

    Open iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, and then go to Purchased on the right hand side under Music Quick Links.
    You can re-download all the songs, apps, or books you have previously purchased.
    I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but just in case, make sure you download the latest version of iTunes (v10.3) too.

  • I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."

    I am getting this error message after upgrading to iOS5: "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPad "ray's iPad" because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined."
    I wiped it out and restored from backup but I am still getting the same message.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that fixed it. Here are the specific instructions that I was given.
    ~~~
    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
    it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
    Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch
    ~~~
    Good Luck!
