Backing up iTunes on version 10 is not workign1
Hi, I downloaded itunes ten in the middle of my itunes music update and now it wont let me back up my files. please help!, Hi, I downloaded itunes ten in the middle of my itunes music update and now it wont let me back up my files. please help!
You should be able to mount your iDisk and just drag folder to it. But the easiest way may be to use Backup, which is free with your .Mac subscription. It has a preset to back up purchased iTunes music, or you can create a custom setting to back up your entire iTunes Music folder. This, of course, presumes that you have enough space on .Mac to hold all your tracks.
BTW, this is the iTunes for Windows area. For questions involving your Mac, you'll get the quickest and most accurate answers if you ask in the iTunes for Mac area.

ITunes (any version) can not handle Thai MP3 tags
Hi there,
I need some brain thrust here... I have a great deal of mp3 cd's that I have bought in Thailand during the last many years. When opening the cds and looking at the files it looks great and I can read the thai script that are in the tags. When inporting it into iTunes (any version) all tags turns into garbage. Example:
in finder this one looks great:
01-เมื่อถูกความรักหาเจอ จั๊กจั่น วันวิสา.mp3
drop it into iTunes and it crashes all the tags and the file name - I think we're talking a dual byte character set conversion bug here:
01 àÁ◊èͶ١€ÇÒÁÃÑ¡ËÒà¨Í ¨ÑꡨÑè_ ÇÑ_ÇÔÊÒ.mp3
It looks just as bad in iTunes as well
This goes for all the meta tag versions as far as I am concerned.
Any ideas folks ?
Best regards
Johnny Niska
copenhagen, denmarkThis should not need to be a problem - in my opinion - we're living in 2009..:-)
Unfortunately there is still a lot of legacy encoded material around, and I suspect it will be awhile before everything comes in the Unicode standard. If you think iTunes should be modified to handle old stuff, or has a bug, you can tell Apple here:

Itunes latest version continually not responding
Hi, I have had alwful trouble since itunes was last upgraded. Continually freezing and having to close through task manager. Fails to back up phone, fails to sync apps. Very frustrating. have tried running in safe mode still no good. I see that many others are having the same issue. Is there going to be a newer version with bug fix?? It is impossible to work with this version of Itunes. I had an older version on my mac and was able to back-up using this, but that automatically updated to latest version and now same issues arise!!

I recently browsed ITunes UK store and now can't get back to my iTunes US store. The UK store won't accept my email address as it is in use. So, effectively, I can't make an iTunes purchase. And, this password changing is madness. Everytime I sign in iTunes doesn't recognize my password and so I have to get a new one even though I've answered the useless security questions. Has anyone solved this problem before?
Funny how this seems to be one of the most-asked questions on the Internet. In most cases, no answer is ever checked as "Correct," either. Most answers, as on this page, say to click the flag at the bottom right-hand corner of any store page. The problem? There's only one flag!!! And it's the one of the country we don't want to be in!!!
Just in case this helps someone: what worked for me was to sign in. It then told me my id was not valid for this country, and switched me back to the US. How I was ever able to buy something from the UK store in the first place is beyond me.
By the way, Apple, experiences like this, and many, many other horrible ones with iTunes, is why those of us who do not live in the Apple world continue to stick to their Microsoft PCs. -
ITunes new version will not install
Im using a fairly new Samsung laptop with windows 7 (installed from manufacturer) and the newest version of itunes stops part way through install and will not finish. I can not update my iphone without the latest version... whats going on with this?
Hello there, pbrady2691.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some recommendations for troubleshooting:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

My iPhone's (4S,iOS Version 6.1.03) calendar will not sync to my PC's Outlook 2010 calendar (Windows 7). I have the latest version of iTunes, which does not recognize my device even though it launched iTunes when I connectedd the USB. The iTunes "Help" and Apple's article does not address the "what if" the device doesn't show. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
Hello there tracealong,
I researched what you are describing and found this awesome lil gem for this exact issue.

ITunes latest version will not launch in Windows 7
iTunes will not lauch regardless of what I do. I have tried re-installing with no luck. I have tried holding down ctrl-shift keys when attempting to launch, that didn't work either. I just get a window that Apple wants to make changes to my computer and I respond yes, but still nothing happens. When I try to launch iTunes nothing happens, no error message or anything. I am at a loss as to what to try next. Please someone HELP!
Now nothing happens when launching iTunes. No messages appear.
Could you check something further for me, please? Is your QuickTime Player also currently failing to launch (with or without an error message)? -
ITunes (any versions) will not open on Mac OSX 10.5.5
It started a couple of weeks ago, that when i go to open iTunes, the icon bounces in the dashboard but then stops, if i click the icon then it says the application is not responding, I've looked at most other quires on here before posting this so i don't think the answer is here yet, but hopefully someone can help me.
The mp3 file referenced in the feed works OK in a browser. Nothing obvious is evident in the code you post, but please post the actual URL of the feed rather than its contents - it's not possible to test any further without knowing that - and also the URL of your iTunes Store page (found by control-clicking on the podcast image and choosing 'Copy Link') (assuming you have had your podcast accepted in the Store and are not just subscribing manually in iTunes).

Need to go back to iTunes 10.4, can't find it on this site.
Hello I am using a NAS storage device to access my music in iTunes on my Macbook Pro. At one time it worked fine & now when I select the server in the "Shared" list and login, the top activity view reads "Loading 'NAS server name' " though it does not load after any period of time. It is an issue that many people using NAS servers are experiencing, not just this particular brand I am using.
When I went to a support forum, a tech employed by the hardware provider said the problem is with iTunes 10.5. The changes Mac made this time were significant enough to create issues of compatability when loading content from NAS devices using an iTunes Server feature. The moderator advised switching back to iTunes 10.4 and not upgrading until the issue can be resolved. I need to go back to the old version of Itunes 10.4 because I can no longer listen to music with it.
Does anyone know where on the Apple site I can find a link to download this version so I can use iTunes again?
Are there any other ways that I do not currently understand that will allow me to access the content on the NAS server though iTunes?Hallo, I installed the program as you said. Everything ok.
When i have to give my serialnummer, it is not accepted. Code is not valid he said

HD reformat & want to put iPod music back into iTunes
I have been using my 60GB 5th gen iPod as usual (so the music was NOT saved as a file nor was the iPod being used as a hard drive) when the computer crashed. I had to completely erase the HD and reformat it, so the computer is starting from scratch.
Can I somehow get the music on the iPod back into iTunes when it was not saved into a music folder on the iPod? The computer crash was unexpected, so the music on the iPod is not saved into one folder as per the instructions on copying music from one computer to another via the iPod.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I plug the iPod into the computer, iTunes will sync with it and erase all of the music on the iPod to match the empty library on the computer, right?
Do you think it's possible to connect the iPod to a PC which may be able to see the music as a file and then save the music to the PC & pull it off of the PC back to the Mac? Connecting the iPod to a Mac that does not have iTunes only results in contacts, calendar, & notes to be accessible, but the music is not seen on the iPod.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'd hate to lose anything! Thank you!
Intel iMac Mac OS X (10.4.8)"Can I somehow get the music on the iPod back into iTunes when it was not saved into a music folder on the iPod?"
You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are also a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out and choose whichever you are happy with.
Senuti Mac Only
iPodRip Mac Only
PodWorks Mac Only
iPod.iTunes Mac Only
PodView Mac Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is a new function in iTunes 7 under File, "Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I plug the iPod into the computer, iTunes will sync with it and erase all of the music on the iPod to match the empty library on the computer, right?"
If your iPod is set to update automatically you just need to take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay. -
I just updated my iTunes on 12-7-2012 and I do not like the newer version.....can I go back to the earlier version?? This new version does not have the iTunes DJ nor does is show at the bottom as in the earlier version how many songs and the size of my library.
To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes. -
