Backing up my Iphone 4S - it has been running the back up in itunes for over 14 hours. Is this NORMAL??
I am backing up my Iphone 4S so, I can transfer all my data, numbers, apps, etc to my new Iphone 5. Although I have synced my 4S with itunes before, and I updated the iOS last week, I have never ran a back-up on it. I have had this phone for over a year, it has about 11 GB of storage used. UGH....It has been running this back up for over 14 HOURS!
Is it normal for it to take this long? If it is, how much longer is the back up going to take?

IIf you previously had items backing up to the iCloud, changing to the new phone will take a while depending on how much data and apps your restoring to the new phone. If your like me with 1,000's of pics and videos, it's gonna take a while. Make sure your phone I plugged in, your on wifi and let it do its things. If you see all your apps updating, then it's doing something. If this is not your issue, then it could be the phone froze up. I have the 6 plus and recently switched from the 5, and it took a long time to restore from the cloud. Restoring from iTunes is quicker I guess, but I didn't have that option at the time and was dying to use the new phone I eaitrd 2 weeks for. There is no issue with iOS7.
The issue is with specific iPhones.
I know multiple people with iPhones that have all upgraded to the latest iOS and none of them have experienced issues with the update across multiple models. Even with the postings here, if you search through them, some go back as far as iOS5 and these Wi-Fi/bluetooth issues occurring which clearly shows it is not the iOS update that is killing the hardware. The issue is with hardware on specific devices that is boarderline working and an update is causing the hardware to fail.
Apple offers an Out of Warranty replacement for a reasonable cost or the user can choose to replace the device with a different one (newer iPhone or some other device).
Regardless, ranting here is pointless and against the terms of use. -

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)? I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.
The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

For a brief time when iPhone 4, iOS 4 came out, many of us ended up with two Apple IDs. I want to know if anyone can please provide me with simple step-by-step instructions on merging two Apple IDs into one? It would make transferring purchases on iTunes much easier and reliable. Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -

You're saying you don't back up your phone regularly? You should ALWAYS back up before updating your phone. That said, try resetting first: hold down the home button and the power button for at least 10-20 seconds until you see the Apple. Hopefully you can then try to perform the update again. Start doing backups if your data is important to you.

I just updated my iphone from my laptop using itunes and all my apps, music, photos etc.. were on my mobile. But when the update was finished, my phone did not have all the apps it had on before it had completely restarted and I tried to restore my iphone using my laptop but nothing had changed and all my things that were on my iphone were gone and I have tried to look on websites to get back my photos and everything but there was no answer to my question.

HannahFirst, you don't have to use such a large font setting, most of us can read just fine. Did you backup your phone before doing the update? Did you reload that update after you restored your phone? All apps can be reloaded from the App Store if needed. Have you always used this computer for all of your updates and backups? Your music can be synced from your iTunes library again also. If you did not backup your pictures or videos to your computer, you may have lost them.

ITunes 11 has been deleting the back catalogues of several of my podcasts. How do I stop this?
This hasn't happened to all of them, although I can't find any rhyme or reason as to which ones it's allowed me to keep and which ones it's deleted (most often they've been ones I've already listened to, although even that isn't always the case). How do I stop this and is there any way of restoring my podcast library without having to re-download everything all over again?

This coincidently happened when I updated to iOS7 and Podcasts were all defaulted to the Apple podcast player.
Prior to that, I was able to play Podcasts through the default Music App - from the podcast library.

Sounds like we have a similar problem. Four days ago I was playing music through a wireless Bose speaker via bluetooth and everything was fine. Then I was texting while listening and got 2 texts about the same time as I was typing one and my phone went black. I pushed the home button and it worked, went into my texts and all were there. However ever since then the time isn't right, so it can't keep time no matter what I do. The bluetooth works only at times, the wifi keeps jumping on and off, sometimes my data won't work and the other day I couldn't even turn it off, so had to wait until it died. The battery life display at that moment wasn't correct either. Took to Verizon, they couldn't help. Suggested a factory reset, which I did last night and still the same issues! One day I couldn't even text my husband on his iPhone. Just wouldn't work at all. Did everything suggest and still not good. Seems like after stalking these pages today a lot of people are having this problem in Dec/Jan and of course also I'm 3 weeks out of my 1 year warranty and so were many others, by days. Very strange, and all on the 5C. What did you do? Is it working now?

Windows can not identify that an iOS device is in recovery mode. Only iTunes can identify that.

Well, this is a problem, because the only material you can transfer from your iPhone (using only Apple software) is material you purchased in the iTunes Store.
To do that, plug your iPhone into iTunes, then choose File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from iTunes' menu.
Generally speaking, you should restore your iTunes library from your computer's backup.
