Backing up my iPod to DVD

Right now i am loading a bunch of my old CD's onto my iPods using a really cool applescript i found called Rip to iPod. But this scrpt does not leave a copy of the cd on my computer when its done. Is there a way to copy/burn the contents of my iPods back to a DVD as a backup?

Not supporting ripping back to the HD is kind of what my point is as well. My research into this whole thing with ripping back to the HD came when my computer crashed about a month ago, and the DVD that I had backed up iTunes with was unreadable. So I lost all my purchased msic as well as my wife when she bought a new iPod and gave me her old one was unable to transfer her iPod music to the new iPod. So I find both of Apples policies about not being able to redowbload purchased music and bot being able to copy ithe iPod BACK to the HD to be serious shortcomings. I am now going to look into the .mac account and see if this offers and solutions. So for anyone else who is treading this besides you and me Dan, I have found the "rip to iPod" script to be excellent and i am going to send him a donaction today. I also have found the program "Senuti" to be a great solution to back up my iPod and I will send in my payment for that as well. Now yes I am figuring out that I might be able to have all my friends being thier iPods to my house and usign this program I could "steal" all there music. So maybe Apple could find some "code" to encrypt into the music as it goes onto the iPod that will only allow it to play on "that" ipod... sort of an "ifingerprint ". Anyway coffee is done and the ramble is over.....thanks for discussing this with me Dan...it is I'm sure old hat to the rest of the world, but with this being my first iPod its all new to me.

Were the app in your iTunes library? If not the app data in the backup has no place to go. Redownload the apps in your iTunes libaray

I recently started using my Ipod touch again, and i bought music to go on there.
I tired syncing it, but Itunes kept freezinfg because it needed to be updated to 10.6. After i updated it, my Ipod was not showing up. I figured out that it was showing up as a camera on my laptop.
How do i change it back to an Ipod on there so i can sync music?

If you are using the iTunes command File>Transfer Purchases from iPod, only purchased music is transferred to iTunes from your iPod.

IPod touchm notes disappearing off iPod - found on email account. How do I get them back on the iPod touch?

My Notes (yellow notes app) disappeared from my iPod touch running iOS 6.1.3 and found out here they'd been "synced" to my email account. Sure enough there they were. As suggested, I went into settings for the email account on my iPod and removed "notes" as one of the things to track. I checked the settings for Notes and there is no option to make the iPod the place to keep things (apparently, this is an option on the iPhone version of Notes). Now my test note has stayed on the iPod. But how do I get the old notes that are sitting in an email account back to my iPod?
Also, I'm not sure who decided "sync" should mean "remove from one device and put it on the other device". This is not most people's definition of "sync". It isn't done with email syncing. When I send mail (yahoo or gmail), from either the iPod or some other device, the sent mail shows up on both devices, not on one or the other.

Are you sure they are not there? Check your later pages. Syncing often reloads the apps out of sequence. Also check in iTunes under Apps that Sync Apps is checked.

Itunes won't let me back up my Ipod, or sync music

My itunes won't give me the option to back up my ipod touch (3rd gen)- I have the latest iTunes and iOS (4.2) but it still won't let me create a backup. When I right click on the ipod, the only backup option I am given is to restore from an old backup, which is 2 years old and from a completely different Ipod touch. I am not given the option to create a new back up.
This is an issue for me, as when my ipod syncs, it tries to transfer purchased apps from my ipod to the computer (and does so), but when it is about to sync songs it say 'Error reading to disk' and cancels the sync - this means the only way I can get new songs onto the ipod is to restore it to its original settings, something I have had to do twice already, and am reluctant to do again, as I don't have a backup!

One you syncing computer, go to iTunes>Preverences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...syncing". Then connect the iPod to the computer and restore from backu.

I made a noob mistake and created at topic for something there was already a topic for. However I wanted to clarify what I am trying to do. I realize that my ipod is mapped to a drive with windows, however the ipod changes the names and seemingly randomly places the songs within its directory structure.
