Backing up my sites in dreamweaver cs3

is there a way to make a "restore point" for your webpages in dreamweaver? i seem to have a lot of times where i make a few changes and save them but later on i see a spot that isnt working as of the new changes and when i manually undo them it is still messed up. i am guessing this is when i insert something in the code in the wrong place or something but i also want a restore point incase something crazy happens like i delete the page and save it SOMEHOW and just want to restore the html from the day before.. you get the point.. is there such thing?

Well i guess the answer is NO !! The best way t do it is to do what you want to do, when you're happy with it and ready to move on changing things, make a copy of your files and keep on working on actual files..if anything goes wrong you can then go back to your last working files...

  • Can't create new sites in Dreamweaver CS3.  Help!

I am trying to create a new site in Dreamweaver CS3 but keep
    getting the following error:
"The action cannot be completed because the other program is
    busy.
Choose 'Switch to' to activate the program and correct the
    problem"
I have tried every documented solution on the adobe website
and other discussion forums and still cannot get past the problem.
I have restarted the IIS server on my local PC as documented
    on the following adobe technote:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_16485&sliceId=2
    Other things I have done:
    1. I have followed all the advice in the links at the bottom
    of the above page.
    2. I have created a new user, logged into that and tried
creating a site with a "virgin" environment
and I still have the problem.
    3. I have gone into the registry and renamed the site
configuration info in case something was corrupted.
This removed all my site configurations. No help!
    4. I have turned of my firewall and restarted the IIS
    server.
    5. I have searched the web for anything even remotely
similar to this error and tried every tip out there.
I called Adobe and they referred me back to the technote
above, which I had already tried.
One last bit of info. I can't create new sites, but I can
edit web pages in my existing sites. However, I cannot change the
configuration of the website in the Manage Sites area (i.e. I can't
    push the Edit button).
Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be appreciated. I
have hit a brick wall on this one and am trying to meet a deadline
on a new website I need to create.
If I can't find a solution quick, I will be an
ex-Dreamweaver user. That saddens me because I really like
Dreamweaver, but I have to perform on my job.

    And are you running Skype?

  • Design site in Dreamweaver CS3 / Client maintains in Expression Web?

I am about to build a site for my client in DW CS3 and my
    client tells me he
expects to be able to maintain the site - make changes, etc.
    - using
Microsoft's latest tool. Does anyone know the compatibility
    of these 2
tools? Will he be able to make changes without screwing
    anything else up -
    the formatting, layout, design, etc?
    Thank you!

If you will be using DW templates/Library items, XWeb will
    not recognize any
of the template/Library markup in the page. That could be a
    big problem,
since there will no longer be editable and non-editable
    regions in XWeb.
Other than that, the two should coexist pretty well.

  • Just updated to Firefox 3.6.9, I'm building a site and the Dreamweaver CS3 Preview feature no longer works in previewing my pages. Any fixes available?

Just updated to Firefox 3.6.9 this morning. I'm building a site using Dreamweaver CS3 for a class and the Preview feature was working fine before the update. I can preview my pages in other browsers successfully, but now if I choose Firefox, no window opens.
    I have a Macbook Pro, OS X.

Sorry, Mozilla did a security fix that broke Dreamweaver with Firefox. Virtually no other programs were broken with that fix, and considering the age of Dreamweaver (~5 years since it was last updated) they decided not to back-out that security fix for one old, elderly program. This problem was discussed at length back in January and February after Firefox 3.6 was first released.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - Cannot create root and image folder in Site Management. (Create New Site)

    Good day everyone,
I am not able to create folders for a new site in Dreamweaver CS3.
    This is the problem:
    I open Dreamweaver
I go to site and click on create new site
In the new site panel I name the site eg: Test Site
Then I click on the browse folder to attached a root folder and image folder for the site
This is where the problem starts, when I browse to the folders, Dreamweaver does not keep the location/path.
Like this: My folder is created in the following directory.
    C:\xampp\htdocs\my_site_folder
So when I browse to this folder and click save
the path does not stay in Dreamweaver, all the stays is this.
    C:\xampp\htdocs\
The site name does not remain.
I cannot get Dreamweaver to hold the path.
    Same for the image folder.
I noticed this started to happened after I updated Vista to Service pack 2.
I have never seen this happen before.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • IE shows code from dreamweaver CS3 after uploading

    Hi guys
    Need help.
I have coded a site in Dreamweaver CS3 and after I upload through the automatic upload everything goes perfectly fine until I view the site online through Internet Explorer. Through all other browsers the website comes through fine ie Firefox, iron for PC and Mac etc. Its just the PC Internet Explorer that shows the actual code.
    This is my code:
    br />
    &#x2022 Resume / CV<br />
    <br />
What it sows is the code of the dots (&#x2022) only.
    The link is http://www.naissant.ca/becomeadesigner.html
Hope someone can help with the problem.
    Thanks

Can't see any code in IE7, IE8 or IE9 at the link you supplied.......maybe you have fixed it?
    Correction I was looking for a bit more code. Change this &#x2022 to &bull;
or add semi-colon after code ; as shown below (not sure if this is genuine as I have'nt use that particular code to produce a bullet point)
    &#x2022;

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Design View Problem

I am trying to edit a Dreamweaver site using Dreamweaver CS3 on a Windows XP workstation at work. The site structure was developed by an outside vendor and has been designed using CSS for positioning -- no tables. It is my responsibility to finish the site using template pages provided. When viewing the site in several browsers -- both Mac and PC, everything is fine. When I open the site in Dreamweaver CS3 Windows, all of the positioning is off -- the menus that should be flush left of the text colum, instead, appear at the top of the text column. This issue is repeated throughout the site. Since I am using existing pages as templates for new ones, I'm forced to make edits in code view, upload and then view in my browser. My outside vendor, so far, does not have an answer to this.
This weekend at home, I've installed an old Dreamweaver 8 trial version on my Macintosh. I downloaded the site and everything looks fine in Design View. Any ideas? Is this a settings issue on my Windows version of Dreamweaver?  I do have the Style Rendering setting set to Screen Media type.

    Hi,
I found this thread after searching and searching for an answer as to why my Design View in DW CS3 started disappearing (even in split view).  It will show a partial view, but never the entire view all at once, even after restarting my PC.  I have been using CS3 for a few years now and it just started having this issue.  When this issue started, nothing had changed on my computer.  There has to be a fix for this.  Why did it work fine all these years and now, no design view????

I can't help you with the central issue, but permissions in
    XP are
controlled by a setting in folder options.
start, control panel, folder options, view. Near the bottom
    of the list
is an option that by default is checked - "Use simple file
    checking".
Try unchecking it, and you should be able to access the full
    security
    tab for files.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 will it work with Contribute CS4 Mac 2 PC

Hi I asked this same question in the contribute area of the
forum bu then thought t may be best to ask here as I wanted to know
if Contribute CS4 will work with Dreamweaver CS3?
I take it for granted that it will, I have a mac and will
create a site with Dreamweaver CS3 and then have the client who has
a PC to buy Contribute CS4, will this work okay or do I need to
create the site with a PC and with Dreamweaver CS4?

I just read on the adobe website that:
    "Contribute CS4 works with Adobe Dreamweaver® CS4
    templates"
Does that mean it wont work with Dreamweaver CS3 templates?

My Dreamweaver CS3, working under Vista, normally works fine

all worked well. Something is happening to the 'site scan'. I

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Site Manager Problem

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and when I define my sites in the
Site Manager, for some reason now when I definte the Host
    Directory, which looks like this:
"//caflsd/share/DEPTS/BIOSCI/BSWeb/ " (note the two "/" at the
beginning) once I hit the done button and try to connect, I get an
FTP error, and when I go back in to the Site Manager, I will see
that one of the slashes in front of the Host Directory Address is
removed, so it looks like this "/caflsd/share/DEPTS/BIOSCI/BSWeb/"
which misses the first slash. When I put it in manually while in
the Site Manager and test the connection while in the Site Manager,
it works fine...however, when I hit OK and Done, it always cuts out
the extra "/" and then the site will not connect outside of the
Site Manager. How can I get it to stop this?

i posted a reply.  sorry  new to this forum.  the only message I receive is that there is no repsonse from the server.  Initially I can connect fine and downloand all remote files.  It is only when I go to upload that I get disconnected.  I can upload fine with an older version of DW.  I do not know if I can upload to other sites.
I called my server and was told everything on their end was fine and they tested it and was able to upload.  So I am thinking it must be DW CS3

  • Site root links problem in Dreamweaver CS3

I am having trouble with links relative to site root when I
work on my localhost with Dreamweaver CS3.
I am building a site with PHP, MySQL using the WAMP server. I
    have a page ( www.site.com/index.php ) that I want to copy to
    sub-directories (e.g. www.site.com/about/index.php ) so I want to
make the copying as painless as possible by using site root
relative links (e.g. /about/index.php ). It works on the internet
    but NOT on localhost.
Why is this? What can be done? Is there a fix if this is a
bug? This seems like such a simple thing but it is such a
    problem.

    > Why is this?
Because when your (local) webserver see's that you are
    directing it to the
ROOT, it goes to ITS root, not the website's root (e.g.,
    htdocs or Inetpub).
You can get around this by using virtual hosts (google it).
