Backing up Nokia 6233

hello there:
I tried to back up my nokia 6233 using PC Suite, but I always failed to do so, and I always had a message telling me "the phone was disconnected, Please reconnect your phone and try again". I tried every trick I know, I fully charged my phone, I connected my phone to the charger, I restored factory settings, I disabled screen saver, I disabeld phone bettery saver, I treid every thing, still I cannot back up my phone.
beside that I'm still waiting "like those hundreds" for nokia 6233 to be listed in Phone software updater. Please Nokia Team, tell us If 6233 is ever going to listed.
thank you

I am without an income and very poor and can't afford to pay for software at the moment - does anyone know if there is any free software to do this (iSync is not compatible)?
Thanks in advance,

Maybe you could find some third party plugin for your phone? I have found one for the N73. Try MacMonster's site
As I do not currently own a Mac, I cannot test operability for myself. But most users whom I know to have used the plugin reported no problems. This plugin enables you to sync your phone with iSync. As I said, I have found a plugin for my N73. Who knows you might be lucky for your 6233!
Break a leg!
Edit: Click EDITED to download the suitable iSync plugin for your phone. Note that the site is in German. I'll provide the English installation instructions (which you can also find on the developer's site) below:
1. Protect if possible all data (contacts, notes, pictures and dates) of both devices
2. Delete your telephone from the device list of Bluetooth and iSync!
3. Switch Bluetooth off on Mac and at the mobile phone
4. Quit iSync, if this is opened
5. Copy the directory “PhonePlugins” (marked green) including contents with Apple (Command) + C and insert it into the highest LIBRARY on your hard disk
6. If the directory already exists, then only take the contents from my (the developer's) directory into the existing directory “PhonePlugins”
7. Pair the Phone with your Mac and start iSync
8. Have fun!Message Edited by csteelooper on 17-Jan-2007

I have a nokia 6233, sent it away because keypad wasn't working but now i have replacement, i am not able to make calls or send messages. Phone is a contract phone and sim works in other phones, just wondering is there a setting on the phone that would fix this? any suggestions would be helpfulMessage Edited by star10 on 01-Sep-200712:58 PM

    Hiya
We have been having the ERROR IN CONNECTION problem for nearly 8 months now, AAPT blames Nokia, Nokia says nothing wrong with the phone. It has been into the sevice centre this week and still not working, I am going in tomorrow to get it looked at AGAIN. We upgraded to 6103 in Jan and almost immediately had problems, we have had new sims and a new handset sent and still getting same message.
If I find anythign out from tomorrow will let you know but by doing a "GOOGLE" search on the term Error in Connection is would seem that this is an ongoing problem with the Nokia phone going back at least 3 yrs.
It is very frustrating and if its not fixed, you will hear me from where you are!

  • Calculator on Nokia 6233

When I 'lost' my calculator sometime back on my Nokia 6233 I was advised to take in to a Service Centre where they could send it away and have the calculator' flashed' back onto the phone.
I couldn't spare the phone for that length of time but I wondered if from the 'Settings' menu if I selected 'Restore factory settings' whether that would reinstall it.
    Any ideas?

  • Nokia 6233 Losing Tones and Wallpapers on Shutdown...

    Hi All,
Frustrated user seeking advice. My Nokia 6233 has been working perfectly for last 6 months.
Now, it has developed a mighty annoying hiccup!
Have set personalised ring tones and wallpapers which disappear and default back to phone settings every time the phone is turned off.
It does not matter if the tone/images are on phone memory or 2GB SD card. They disappear every time and need to be reset. Frustrating!!!
Things I have done to date are:
    1. Updated phone software online
    2. Reset the phone back to factory settings
3 Moved tones/images from SD memory to phone
    4. Punched a wall (very hard)
Anybody else have a suggestion as this was working (and now not)? Could I have deleted something/file important when clearing out memory on phone?
Where are the profile/memory settings stored on the phone?
Most importantly, what should I do and has anybody experienced similar and worked a fix?
    Cheers - Trav

    Looks like a software/firmware problem.
Are you using custom themes? Try reverting to the default Nokia theme and test.
If problem persists, take your handset to your nearest service center and have its firmware fully re-flashed. =)

  • Nokia 6233 WALLPAPER

I have installed a new theme on my Nokia 6233 which has a great wallpaper with it . The problem is if I decide to select a different wallpaper from my gallery , I cannot find the wallpaper that came with the theme . The only way I can get it back is to delete and reinstall the theme.
    Any ideas ????

Once you put your own personnal theme on to the phone , then change the wallpaper how do you get back to the orgional wallpaper that came with the theme ?
themes are wallpapers and icons and sometimes tones, they don't come separate. its like going to a store and buying a special package like a multi-flavored candy bar, you won't get buy any part of it separately, or even separate the flavors to enjoy individually. the same way when you load a theme, everything is together, you will not be able to get that wallpaper by itself in the gallery because it is not saved there. so when you change the wallpaper into your own choice, you'll have load the theme again to get it..
    hope that makes sense.

  • Nokia 6233 Accident

Hey, me, being the idiot that I am, accidently dropped my Nokia 6233 into water! but I pulled it out in about a second.
Anyway, now when I turn it on, it goes to the entering pin screen and I can enter the first digit of the pin, but then I can't enter anymore, it just sort of freezes I guess, that or the keypad freezes.
The thing is I can still use the button on the top to turn it on/off.
At the moment it's airing out, and hopefully that fixes it, but otherwise, how can I open it up to see if there is anything obviously wrong? it uses those funny screws.
Please help, if this doesn't work I will have to go back to my old Nokia 3200. Please

Sorry we cannot help you with opening your phone as it's against the rules to discuss disassembly.
It's highly likely that your phone is now damaged beyond repair. You should not have switched it on whilst it was wet as this causes even more damage than the initial drop into water.
The best way to dry it out is to completely cover it in uncooked rice and leave it somewhere warm for a few days.
If it works correctly then you are lucky, but don't expect it to last more than a few months. If it still doesn't work then it's time for a new phone.

  • Nokia 6233 lost calculator

hello everybody: I lost the calculator, which used to be part of Organizer menue, it used to be NO.5 on the menue. I updated the phone firmware, but it is still missing. anybody know how do i get it back. I wont to thank nokia team for adding 6233 to the list of phone updater, I'm more satisfied with the device now, it's faster and more reliable.

The Nokia 6233 Can be Updated or re-insstalled using the Nokia Software Updater here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=PLAIN_TEXT_14905
Back up your phone and then download the updater and re-install the software on your handset.
This should then restore the software to its factory default settings.
If the updater says that no software is available, this does not matter, just tick the box shown in the display and download and re-install it.
This should then put all the applications back in the original places and your calculator should have returned.
If this is not the case then the handset is faulty and you should follow Psychomania's advice and take your handset to a Nokia Service Point.
lamtapioca - Do not post your IMEI number in an Open forum as this comprehmises your handset - unless one of the moderators sees it then you should remove it.

  • Phone Internal Memory for Nokia 6233

I have a Nokia 6233, it works fine and I'm happy with it though there is one annoying problem. The phones memory suppose to be 6MB but with nothing or the card it still list as only 1MB free. I tried reseting but no change.
I updated from the NSU to the latest firmware and still the same problem. Is there away to clean the internal memory before the NSU update?
or is there any other way to solve this problem??

Had a similar issue, removed all messages and it went back to 3.2MB free memory.Did you delete the messages,i guess formatting the phone does that also?

It sounds like your 5800 has the earpiece fault that was common with 5800's made before February.
You need to take it to a nokia care point for repair under warranty.

  • Nokia 6233 v05.10 odd behaviour

    Hello!
After thoroughly searching not only this board but the entire Internet, I found no answer to my question so I decided to register and ASK.
I need to know if any of you owners of a Nokia 6233 observed this odd behaviour of your phone - so please keep reading.
I purchased the phone 16 days ago. Being my first Nokia, I took time to exploit its every feature, therefore draining the battery quite quickly. I discharged and fully charged the battery at least 3 times in the first 3 days, without leaving it plugged-in overnight (as far as I know this is no longer necessary). The battery life time increased progressively until a maximum of three days of normal use, meaning moderate talking (under 20 minutes per day), little or no use of Java apps, camera, media players or GPRS/EDGE connection. The screen savers are off, power saver is on, sleep mode is on. Packet data connection - when needed and network mode is GSM only because I do not use 3G. All these should get me the best stand-by time possible, right? Well, they did, until...
I bought a new microSD card, 2.0 GB storage, made by SanDisk. The card works fine, I put my favorite music and video clips on it - all the stuff you do when you have enough space. Since then, the battery life decreased SUBSTANTIALLY to LESS THAN 24 HOURS. And there's more. The battery drains even if the phone is turned off, in roughly the same amount of time. I have never ever seen anything like this. Sometimes the battery is so low that the phone takes a few minutes before displaying the battery charging icon and, when started, it asks for hour/date settings.
So, I need to know if anybody else noticed battery life decrease with bigger memory card capacity, and what's to be done.

Have you tried using the in-box memory card(That came with the phone) again? There's something wrong with your phone and battery if the problem still occurs..

  • Daylight saving in the NOkia 6233 ?

Does the Nokia 6233 support Daylight Saving ? If yes, how can I set it in my phone ?

It doesn't do it automatically, like a PC...it isn't that clever. You need to change it yourself. Be sure to set the time zone rather than change the clock, otherwise the phone may display incorrect times for SMS messages etc.
